Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
Fabfame 12/19/2006 11:55:00 AM
I have very oily skin that is prone to acne and hyperpigmentation so was wary of using anything that had the word "oil" in it on my face. My first experience with cleaning oil started with La Vitton/LaVentine which proved to be a pimple causing disaster in a matter of days. This DHC product however is wonderful and my skin loves it. I have been using it daily for 2 months. It didn't cause a single pimple, it removes all my makeup, washes off with no residue and never dries out my skin. Using this and the rest of my skin care regimen, my skin looks the best it has in years. This is definitely a permanent addition to my skincare routine.
Ingredients are: olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate, tocopherol, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben, stearyl glycyrrhetinate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil

Eyeliner -MAC - Buried Treasure Powerpoint
Fabfame 12/12/2006 8:41:00 PM
This is simply the most perfect colour eye pencil I have ever come across. I have dark skin (NC50) but find black eyeliner pencils too flat and harsh. I have swatched this on my hand many many times on my trips to the MAC counter and never bought it because I didnt like the look. I finally caved a bought it. The first time I wore it, I could not believe I waited so long! I have worn it every day since. The pencil is soft, blends easily and lasts all day even on my oily eyelids. If black eyeliner is too much for you, try this. Its softer and really very flattering.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - MaMa Lotion [DISCONTINUED]
Fabfame 12/5/2006 1:29:00 PM
This was definitely not a good product for me. I have dark skin (NW45 NC50) that is prone to breakouts and hyperpigmentation. Reading the description of how this product works it sounded like a good product to help fade my hyperpigmentation. The actual ingredients are another story....and not a good one. I did not use this all over, only on the areas that needed application and only once a week since my skin could not tolerate more than that. This products stings and it stings for quite some time. I noticed no fading of dark marks in the 6 weeks that I used this. In fact it made my hyperpigmentation worse. My regular AHA is DDF 10% glycolic toner and my skin responds very well to that so I will go back to using that.
Ingredients are: Water, Mandelic Acid, Malic Acid, Algae Extract, Polyacrylamide, Potassium Hydroxide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Ubiquinone, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Fragrance, Squalane, Laureth-7, Tetrasodium EDTA, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben and Butylparaben.

Skincare - Face -DHC - Acerola 100
Fabfame 11/19/2006 11:20:00 AM
I purchased this as part of the Acerola Set. I love the trio. They are just perfect for my oily acne prone skin. My skin is more balanced, less oily and this does not cause me to break out. The Acerola 100 is a light-weight yellowish liquid that I dab on my face after using my Acerola Lotion. It contains vitamins and antioxidants, dries very quickly and is not sticky. It does have a mild fragrance but it is not artificial or bothersome.
The ingredients are wonderfully simple: water, butylene glycol, malpighia glabra (acerola) fruit extract
I am not sure of its brightening powers yet but I will continue to use it in the hope that it lives up to its claims and update my review soon.

Skincare - Face -DHC - Acerola Lotion (toner)
Fabfame 11/19/2006 9:29:00 AM
What a refreshing toner! I have very oily skin and my regular toner is DDF 10% glycolic toner. Sometimes you forget what it feels like to apply a nice soothing toner (DDF stings like crazy!). I love this. It keeps my skin balanced and does not strip it dry causing me to become more oily. This is a light alcohol free toner that dries quickly. It comes in a very pretty glass bottle but the only thing is you have to shake the bottle to dispense the toner onto your cotton pad. I bought the toner as part of the Acerola Set. The trio make an excellent combo for oily skin and great value for your money. A definite rebuy.
Ingredients are: water, butylene glycol, malpighia glabra (acerola) fruit extract, glycerin, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, yeast extract, hydroxyproline, placental protein, disodium ascorbyl sulfate, serine, allantoin, methylparaben, acetyl tyrosine, paeonia suffruticosa root extract, pueraria lobata root extract

Skincare - Face -DHC - Acerola Gel
Fabfame 11/19/2006 9:24:00 AM
I have extremely oily skin and nothing on this planet is going to prevent the shine from making its daily appearance. This product however keeps me from looking like an oil slick and that I can live it. It is an extremely light gel moisturiser that absorbs and dries quickly. My skin is much more calm and balanced with this product. The breakthough shine I get 30 minutes after I apply my makeup is no longer there. I bought this as part of the Acerola Set and am very pleased with it. The only thing is this would be nice if it came in a little pump style bottle. Other than that, excellent value and I will definitely buy it again.
Ingredients are: water, butylene glycol, malpighia glabra (acerola) fruit extract, carbomer, yeast extract, potassium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, acetyl tyrosine, paeonia suffruticosa root extract, pueraria lobata root extract

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Nature's Cure - two part acne treatment system for females
Fabfame 10/23/2006 1:11:00 PM
I started using this several years ago (no longer use it) and used it religiously for about 2 years. I got my sister on to it as well and we both saw very good results. We never used the creams or sprays, we just took the pills. This product really does work but you have to be patient. It took about 1 month for us to notice our skin was clearing up. My skin is pretty much clear now so I no longer take these but if my skin ever went haywire again, Natures Cure would be first on my list of things to buy.

Cleansers -La Vitton - Water Soluble - Facial Cleansing Oil - Oily-Combo
Fabfame 10/19/2006 5:35:00 PM
I bought this based on the great reviews this brand received and unfortunatly I am not impressed. I purchased the oily/combo kit with the face and eye oils. I did not even get to use the face and eye oils. Before starting this I sampled some DHC Deep Cleansing Oil so I could compare the two. My preference is for the DHC which is a heavier product and rinses off cleaner. I am not a fan of the fragrance the La Vitton cleansing oil has. It does rinse off but I always use a toner afterwards because it never feels like everything has completely washed off. This product is the only change to my regimen and my skin changed in texture (more bumpy and rough) and I developed a few pimples that I do not normally see so I imagine this may be causing them. I will give this two weeks but the chances that I will be returning this product are very high. I will update again in 2 weeks. UPDATE: I have returned this item. The cystic breakouts I was developing are not usual for me and it was not worth it to continue using this product in the hopes that they would eventually go away.
Ingredients: Safflower Oil, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Olive Oil Esters, Vitamin E, Essential Oils of Lavender, Rose Geranium, and Chamomile.

Cleansers -Murad - Clarifying Skin Cleanser
Fabfame 10/14/2006 4:09:00 PM
I recently added this to my regimen to replace my Dermalogica AntiBac cleanser. It is a little pricey but only a small amount is needed to cleanse your face. If you have oily skin that is prone to breakouts, this is a good addition. I use it at most once a day and generally only 3-4 times a week as it is a very drying product. I have been using it for a month and have not experienced any breakouts from it.
Ingredients are: Salicylic Acid (1.5%), Water (Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Methyl Gluceth-20, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Butylene Glycol, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Triclosan, Menthol, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Oil, Cymbopogon Nardus (Citronella) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylparaben

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Dark
Fabfame 9/25/2006 10:23:00 AM
I have been using MAC products for over 10 years and I can safely say this is an excellent product. My skintone is NW45/NC50 and I use blot power in dark. Make sure you get a shade that works for you and use a nice fluffy good quality brush to apply it so its nice and sheer. The little puff that comes with it is useless and a haven for bacteria. Throw it away the second you open the compact!! I have very oily skin that is prone to acne and has some hyperpigmentation. This has never irritated my skin. Worth every penny.
Ingredients: Mica, Dimethicone, Silica, Kaolin, Water, Sodium Cocoyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Methicone, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Fabfame 9/12/2006 7:16:00 PM
I have NO IDEA where I was when the train pulled out of the station for this magnificent product!!! But I am so on board now! All the good stuff you have read about this is true. It does EXACTLY what is says it will do. I have the oiliest eyelids on the planet. This put a stop to that. KAPOW!!! Greasy creasy eyelids GONE. I did the true test today with my NARS cream shadows...you know the ones I am talking about. They stayed put. I was shocked. Usually they melt off my eyes by lunch time or crease in the most unattractive way.
I have dark skin (NW45/NC50) and I know some people worry that this will show up on your eyelids as whitish. It doesn't. The trick is to dab a little on the back of your hand and then apply it to each eyelid with your ring finger. This also means you keep your wand nice and clean. It dries quickly and is not sticky. I only apply a very small amount and have no trouble blending my e/s with this on. My colours remain vibrant and beautiful all day. This is truly one of the best products I have ever purchased.
Ingredients are: Isododecane, Talc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polyethylene, Trihydroxystearin, Triethylhexanoin, Isopropyl Lanolate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Methicone, Isobutylparaben, May Contain: Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride)

Moisturizers -LORAC - Oil-free Moisturizer
Fabfame 9/11/2006 3:22:00 PM
I recently started using this moisturizer and it is simply wonderful. Initially I balked at the price (approx $37) but it is worth it and you only need to use a very small amount daily. It is oil and fragrance free and does not cause breakouts on my oily acne prone skin. It is a light lotion that applys and absorbs into your skin quickly. It does not create any shine when applied to my skin. I use LORAC Aquaprime over this and then apply my foundation. My makeup looks better and last longer in the blazing Florida heat than it has in years.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerin, Tricaprylin, Isocetyl Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, PEG-100 Stearate, Octyl Palmitate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tridecyl Behenate, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Petrolatum, Panthenol, Calendula Officinalis Extract, Matricaria Extract, Comfrey Extract, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Cetyl Palmitate, Bisabolol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Tocopheryl Linoleate.

Primer/ Corrector -LORAC - Aquaprime
Fabfame 9/11/2006 2:52:00 PM
This is the only primer I have been able to use that makes any kind of difference on my oily acne prone skin. It is an extremely light liquid and you need only the smallest amount to cover your face. Given the price (approx $30) I am glad you need apply just the barest amount daily. I have tried it alone, with my Dermalogica moisturizer, SkinMedica and also my LORAC Oil free moisturiser. I find it works best with the LORAC moisturiser.....naturally;)
It is silicone and fragrance free and has not caused any break outs or irritation on my skin. I can use it all over my face, including my eye lids and I have found that it does a good job of preventing my eyelids from becoming so oily during the day so my eye shadows no longer crease. My make up definitely looks better throughout the day.
The product is designed to be used upside down so there is no internal tubing like you would see in a regular spray bottle. However, it does squirt everywhere making it quite annoying to use. I purchased 1 full size tube of this to try but will not be buying another one.
Ingredients are: Water (Aqua), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Polysorbate 20, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, Di-Sodium EDTA.

Treatments -Advanced Skin Technology - Green Cream by AST
Fabfame 9/11/2006 2:33:00 PM
I have been using Green Cream for several months now (about a year) and I am thrilled with the results. I started with a sample of level 3, then a sample of level 6. I then used a full sized bottle of level 6 and am now using level 9.
I struggled with cystic acne for years and this has really helped to improve the texture and clarity of my skin. You do break out briefly when you start using this but it should clear up in about 2 weeks. The product is light but also feels moisturising. I use BP as part of my regimen and on the nights where my skin feels a little dry, I can still use this and it softens and moisturises my skin but also works to gently exfoliate. There is no noticeable fragrance either.
This product does contain a small amount of silicones so if you are sensitive to silicones, you may want to use this with caution. Some silicones bother my skin but I have not had any problems with this. It is truly a fantastic product. People see me now and tell me my skin looks clear and glowing.
UPDATE: I took a break to use Retin-A 0.1% which I have used before and did not get the kind of results I got with my GC. The formulation of GC definitely agrees with my skin and personally gives me much better results than I have seen with my prescription Retin-A
Ingredients are: D.I. water, ethanol, glycerine, aloe vera gel, octyldodecanol, retinol & polysorbate 20, cucumber extract, butylene glycol, cetyl dimethicone copolyol, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, tocopheryl, acrylates/C10-C30 crosspolymer, tea-carbomer, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, propylparaben, methylparaben, disodium edta, may contain FD&C yellow 5, red 40, blue1,red 3.
