Skincare - Body -Yves Rocher - Hamamelis Moisturizing body lotion
rated 5 of 5

I am really loving this product! It has a very light citrus scent, and due to the witch hazel in the ingredients, it makes my skin tingle (not in an irritating way, but in an invigorating way). I have sensitive skin and it doesn't make me red or itchy like other body lotions I've tried. I would definitely purchase this again!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 5 of 5

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This is a truly excellent mascara--it thickens, lengthens, and separates like no other! However, I do agree with several people who have mentioned the fact that it can make your lashes go straight (because it is a rather wet mascara), but I have found a solution to that problem: Before applying, either blow on the wand or shoot it for a few seconds with the hairdryer (to dry it out a bit), then apply. When I use the mascara like this, my lashes don't lose their curl, and I've found that it thickens and lengthens even better this way!

Shampoo -Thermasilk - Heat Activated Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 3:09:00 PM

I love this shampoo! I have long hair that gets very dry, and I have found that if I use a dime sized amount only on my scalp, I can wash my hair every day without it getting too dry (and that's without using conditioner!). Then once a week, I use the product on the entire length of my hair. For me, this shampoo represents the perfect balance of moisturizers and cleansers. It makes my hair soft and shiny without weighing it down!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - amazonian massage bar [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:59:00 PM

This is the only LUSH product I have tried that is worthy of the hype, IMHO. This huge bar lasts a long time (and therefore is very economical) and it smells absolutely gorgeous. I use it all over my body as a moisturizer (why wait for someone to give you a massage??) and it puts me on Cloud 9. If you like Ylang Ylang, you'll love this product!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Skinny Dip
rated 3 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:50:00 PM

I really love the unusual fragrance of this product, but I also think it desperately needs to be reformulated. It is very, very runny (and therefore difficult to use!), doesn't lather well, and the cocoa butter bits that are supposed to soften your skin fall right off because of the watery texture. However, the scent does linger on your skin, which is a plus.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Karma soap
rated 1 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:42:00 PM

I was very disappointed with this soap--it didn't lather well, didn't look anything like the cool picture in the catalog, and worst of all, the scent didn't linger on my skin. An okay soap overall, but not worth $6 for a small, uneven chunk!

Cleansers -LUSH - Ultrabland
rated 1 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:38:00 PM

This product was definitely not a winner in my book! It was hard to use, hard to remove, didn't cleanse thoroughly (lots of goo left over on my toner pad), and broke me out (and I hardly ever break out). And yes, I followed the complicated instructions from LUSH to a T. However, shortly after I gave up on this, I discovered Avon's Clean Cream, which I highly recommend for cleansing sensitive skin!

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin
rated 1 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:31:00 PM

I did not like this at all! It came in a solid mass that you have to mix with water in the palm of your hand to get just the right consistency, and if you don't get it right, it will fall off your face in big chunks. Even when I did get it right, it didn't exfoliate very well (and it definitely cannot be used to remove makeup). On top of that, it came in the cheapest container I have ever seen (my Chinese Take Out comes in a sturdier container than this!). It was not an effective product nor was it pleasant to use, so I definitely won't be buying it again!

Mascara -Max Factor - Stretch & Separate Mascara
rated 2 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 10/28/2003 2:10:00 PM

I was very disappointed with this mascara. It didn't lengthen at all, and it didn't separate any better than the other mascaras I've tried. I much prefer Maybelline Full and Soft or Volume Express to this one.

Sunscreen -Coppertone - Oil Free Sensitive Skin SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 8/18/2003 1:51:00 PM

I lovelovelovelovelove this product! It doesn't irritate my oily/sensitive skin, doesn't break me out, and helps keep my face matte all day without drying it out! This is the only moisturizer with a high SPF that I have repurchased--hooray!

Skincare - Face -Yves Rocher - Bio-Calmille Long Lasting Day Cream
rated 5 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 7/8/2003 9:49:00 PM

I use this product as an eye cream, and it works beautifully! I have tried so many high end eye creams and all of them have left my eye area puffy, dry, red, and itchy, and then one day I forgot my eye cream and used this in a pinch and it worked great, so I have kept using around my eyes. It is very soothing and gives me the perfect amount of moisture--not too greasy but moist enough where my eyes don't "pull" when I smile. It is now a staple in my bag!

Scrubs -St. Ives - Invigorating Apricot Scrub
rated 2 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 5/8/2003 7:19:00 PM

The grains in this scrub are too coarse, so not only did it feel uncomfortable on my face, it didn't really get the little flakies off. I much prefer my old standby of baking soda mixed with cleansing lotion, which has a much finer texture, is very inexpensive, and does a very thorough job of exfoliating. Alternatively, if you want a scrub with BHAs, try the St. Ives Medicated Scrub instead--it's much better than this one! I might try this as a body scrub or a foot scrub so I can get rid of the rest of the jar. To summarize, 'Invigorating' it was not!

Powder -Cover Girl - Fresh complexion oil control makeup (powder foundation)
rated 1 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 5/8/2003 6:45:00 PM

Not impressed! I tried both the Ivory and the Classic Ivory shades and both had very flimsy coverage, a grainy texture, and as the day wore on they turned darker and orangey on me, and then finally faded off my face (which I guess was not such a bad thing since I had an orange face by then). I definitely would not buy this again! (P.S. If you want a nice low-end powder foundation for oily skin, check out the Maybelline Pure Stay Powder Foundation, which I adore!)

Powder -Maybelline - PureStay Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5
CaterpillarGirl 5/8/2003 6:27:00 PM

I absolutely love this product! I am picky when it comes to foundations (I always seem to have difficulty finding a good color match and a formula I like in both high and low end foundations), yet this is the one I always come back to. I will also add that I have detested every other Maybelline foundation I have tried, but I must say, they broke the mold with this one! It is great at controlling oil, makes my skin look flawless, has SPF, is easy to apply, lasts all day, doesn't break me out, doesn't change color, and the Ivory color is perfect for my skin (a nice neutral ivory--not too pink, yellow, peachy, or orange). Having said that, I will also say that I would NOT recommend this product for someone with dry skin or a lot of lines. I have to keep it away from my eye area because it makes my wrinkles look worse, but it is great on the oily areas. So, if your skin is on the oilier side and you don't have dry patches, dry skin, or a lot of wrinkles, this product will make your skin look lovely, and on top of that, it is quite inexpensive! A final hint: use a triangle wedge sponge to apply instead of the sponge that comes with it for a more natural looking finish (but use the sponge included in the package if you want heavier coverage).

I had a terrible allergic reaction to this product. It made my undereye area red, dry, and itchy!
