Lipstick -MAC - Impassioned (Amplified)
Cactus_Pear 6/28/2007 5:03:00 PM
Caution: this is not for the faint of heart! Impassioned is a BRIGHT, vivid hot fluorescent artificial watermelon flavored candy pink. It's very pigmented (it's amplified creme so it's very creamy, moisturizing and pigmented). This color reminds me of the '80s. There's no peachy tones to this, it's a creamy hot pink-fuschia with a tiny touch of magenta.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Venetian
Cactus_Pear 6/17/2007 6:02:00 PM
Venetian looked gorgeous in the tube but isn't anything special imo. It's an easily dupeable, generic lipgloss with a sheer tint of cherry-red. It's not pigmented at all, on my lips it looks like I'm just wearing clear gloss. I expected more from this, you could easily just buy a drugstore l'oreal lipgloss w/a red tint and get the exact same results.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Oh baby
Cactus_Pear 6/10/2007 9:01:00 PM
Oh Baby is amazing on some darker skintones--one of my friends wears it and it's gorgeous on her (medium black skin tone). On me, it's a sheer very bronzed color, the sparkle looks gold-ish (and it does fade away to a goldish sheen on me.) A light frosted bronze/caramel brown. It looks very muddy in the tube but it goes on sheer. It's very sparkly/glitter, if you don't like shimmer this is not the color for you. Oh Baby also has some green, blue, purple glitter, but it's not noticeable at all--you have to look very closely to be able to notice it.

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
Cactus_Pear 5/26/2007 2:33:00 AM
Hue on me looked terrible. My lips are pretty pigmented and this color was too sheer to cover up my lips..and the pale milky pink looked terrible on me. A weird, garish color---like a corpse that froze to death, that weird tinge. I like pale pink, milky colors like Underage lipgloss but this was a huge disappointment.

Lipstick -MAC - Vegas Volt
Cactus_Pear 5/26/2007 2:25:00 AM
Vegas Volt is not for the faint hearted! It's a creamy, vivid coral. It's a bright pink-orange color, this coral leans more toward orange than red. This lipstick looks great on some people but terrible/garish on others, I think it all depends on how you do the rest of your makeup, too much can be too overpowering. I like this color, it's electrifying and stands out. As with all the amplified cremes, moisturizing formula w/lots of pigment. If you like bright, vivid colors, Vegas Volt is definitely a good one to add to your collection.

Lipstick -MAC - Cream Lipstick in Dubonnet
Cactus_Pear 5/26/2007 2:20:00 AM
Medium/tan asian skintone, NC40/C40 in studio fix. I was looking for a red lipstick, and a MAC MA recommended Dubonnet for me because according to her, Dubonnet was the perfect red lipstick for olive/yellow skintones. It's not the red I was looking for, a pin-up retro RED color. But it is a good staple for work, or for an evening out--this is a dark red with brownish undertones, it's more of a 'mature' color to me and not at all a lighthearted-young color. I gave this lipstick away to my aunt, it looks great on her but didn't wow me enough.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint eye pencil in Engraved
Cactus_Pear 5/7/2007 7:18:00 AM
My HG eyeliner. I've tried all of the MAC eyepencils--smolder kohl, graphblack technakohl, regular mac eye pencil, and Engraved powerpoint is by far the best. It goes on like a dream--so creamy and smooth, and once it sets, doesn't smudge. I have very oily lids, I use UDPP and loose powder to prep my lids before putting on eyeliner/eyeshadow, and most eyeliners raccoon eye on me after an hour or 2, but engraved pp stays put. Engraved is also a great matte black, very black--no weird green/blue undertones to engraved. You can apply this in a straight line for a cat eye winged look, or a smudge it before it sets with a smudge brush for a smokey kohl look. I took 1 lippie off because sharpening engraved sucks--I get alot of product loss and the black wood isn't easy to sharpen. I bought graphblack technakohl for this reason, but something about the formula of technakohl wasn't as smooth/soft as powerpoints, I couldn't sharpen the automatic pencil so hated it. plus, I left the cap off of the technakohl overnight by accident, and the next day, it had dried up and hardened.

Eyeliner -MAC - Smolder eye kohl
Cactus_Pear 5/7/2007 7:10:00 AM
The only thing good about Smolder to me is the packaging--the pencil is sleeker, has a smoother finish and a nice sleek metal cap. But in my opinion, that's the only thing better about it. Smolder has zero staying power on my oily lids, even with tons of udpp and setting w/loose powder/black eyeshadow. I can't get this pencil to work for me, not even as an inside rim liner--it smudges after less than an hour and I'm stuck with raccoon eyes. The staying power of this pencil is just awful, it smudges and gets everywhere, ugh. I've tried all the MAC eyeliners except liquidlast, and this is the worst. *oh..and some people say that this is a good pencil for tightlining but it's really not, it gets everywhere and smudges within an hour and completely disappears from your lash line. engraved is better* ps>smolder has noticeable blue undertones. after a couple of hours on me, it starts looking grey-blue toned. not a true jet black color.

Fragrances -Calgon - Turquoise Seas
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 7:06:00 AM
Turquoise seas smells amazingly breezy/light/fresh/ocean-y with the tiniest hint of sweetness. I love turquoise seas! It really does smell refreshing and clean, it's wonderful--I love this on top of other higher end perfumes that have ocean/fresh notes. Turqouise seas is one of my favorite scents, it's just a great scent--it comes in body mist/spray form only, not as a perfume but the lasting power is still good. Sometimes you just need a light/simple breezy scent instead of a heavy/cloying perfume and turqouise seas is perfect for that. ♡ Turquoise seas

Fragrances -Bond No.9 - Chinatown
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:55:00 AM
Amazing fragrance--this is such a unique, intriguing perfume. It actually does remind me of Chinese incense/stores that sell the eastern medicine healing herbs. It has soft oriental/slightly gourmand notes on me. Chinatown reminds me of a fragrance that a woman who smokes cigarettes would wear. I love it, I don't usually like warm/oriental/spicy scents, but this one smells so good. Something I dislike about Chinatown---maybe it's just me, but it has gourmand notes to it. just slightly but for me, it's there.

Fragrances -Calgon - Hawaiian Ginger
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:40:00 AM
I love Calgon Hawaiian ginger, I don't usually wear d/s brand fragrances but I keep this one around to wear on top of other fragrances/pick me up or an after shower spray. It's a sweet but definitely not sickeningly cheap sweet fruity scent. It doesn't smell anything like ginger to me, this is a complex/unique scent that I've loved since I was in junior high school.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Miss Dior Cherie
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:34:00 AM
I like Miss Dior Cherie--I was first drawn to it b/c of the pretty packaging. It's a light, clean/slightly white musky floral w/hints of strawberry. This is definitely one of those perfumes that will either smell terrible or wonderful on you--on me, it smells refreshing/clean, but on some other people, it smells synthetic/chemically/sickly sweet. This is a great perfume for everyday wear, all season round--it's not season specific, I love this perfume both in the spring/summer and fall/winter. It's a very youthful but sophisticated fragrance.

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Ralph
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:28:00 AM
This is such a generic and boring perfume. There's a cloying sickly sweet scent to it, I don't like this perfume at all. I used to love it back in junior high, it was a light/fresh/fruity perfume that the girls at school used to love back then. Now when I smell it, it's just bland/slightly sickeningly sweet.

Fragrances -Clinique - Happy
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:18:00 AM
Eww--this is one of the top 5 best selling fragrances in the US, and that offends me because I can't stand this horrible perfume. Clinique Happy is gross, musky, cheap/tacky smelling grossness bottled. The smell of Clinique Happy actually offends me, it is not light/clean/fresh/happy/sophisticated, it just plain does not smell good to me. Yuck! >:-(

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Romance
Cactus_Pear 5/6/2007 6:12:00 AM
Romance is such a beautiful fragrance--it's one of those perfumes that really brings back memories. Romance was the first 'real' perfume I started wearing back in high school. It's such a classic smelling perfume. The name is so fitting for it too. It's a musky, soft sweet floral that's very feminine and young but sophisticated at the same time. It has a note that has a tiny hint of spice in it, not sure exactly what it is but I know that ginger is a note in Romance. I had the 3.4 oz bottle of this fragrance, but swapped it away b/c I don't wear it often. (it's great perfume but not a good everyday perfume for me...it's better as an occasional fragrance) I did buy a tiny bottle of Romance from sephora, because I still love the scent and like to wear it occasionally.
