Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Twist Up Blush 726

Psst. Here's a secret: The texture is less creamy, and the packaging is junk, but on your face -- this baby looks JUST like South Beach. Yup, THAT South Beach. It is a peachy-bronze with gold shimmer. No one will ever be able to tell the difference on your face! All for the price of a capuccino.

Pressed Powders -Paula's Choice - Pressed Powder [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

Why or why did I wait to buy this when it was on the verge of being d/c'd? Light Olive is the perfect shade for toning down excessive ruddiness or pinkness. The texture is sumptuous, smooth, silky and luxurious. No flyaways at all. Some have complained that no puff is included. I think it is because Paula would prefer you to use a brush -- which you really should to keep the application smooth and even.

CD/Books/Movies -Kevyn Aucoin - Book- A Beautiful Life
rated 4 of 5

Cutiepatootie said it all. I picked this book up at a salvage warehouse at an absurdly low price. It is a quick read -- do not expect it to be very controversial or to talk about the "dark" parts of Kevyn's story that are not in the distant past. This is a eulogy. The photos are glorious, and while there are pages of tips at the end, this is by no means a makeup how-to book.

Blush -L'Oreal - True Match Superblendable Blush in Innocent Flush
rated 5 of 5

What more can I say other than to join the chorus of praise? Nicely pigmented matte blush that is super smoooth on application. Not dry and flyaway, not hard and cakey. The color is a soft pink-peach; maybe you could call it a very light coral. It would be lovely on a PPP, FFF, or MMM -- cool or warm tones. It would work on either.

Treatments -Yves Rocher - ADN Cellular Renaissance
rated 2 of 5

This has the most bizarre package for a skin treatment cream I have ever purchased. It comes in a large plastic compact like square, that is thicker than a powder compact. You open and close it like a compact. In the middle of the open compact sits this round well of cream. Very wasteful! The cream itself is fine. It is scented and colored pale pink. The texture is not greasy in the least, and is more of a cream gel. My skin felt very soft and moist -- sort of like using Clinique Moisture Surge. This is one of the most expensive products in the YR skin care line -- $52.00. When I read the ingredients, I do not see anything terribly unique. I don't get it. It is fine, works well as a moisturizer, but does not do miracles. I would not repurchase simply because I can buy Moisture Surge for less money, without scent and in a more user friendly container.

Skincare - Face -DHC - Milk Protein

A watery product that dries sticky and tacky, but does seem to moisturize. Has a weird, paper-pulp-like smell.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - XXX shine in Carney
rated 3 of 5
AngelZoe 1/28/2006 9:28:00 PM

This is a fairly light gloss, and less tacky than some. Carney is a medium pink with a bit of shimmer, but it goes on very sheerly, and the color is quite subtle. It has a mild mint taste, but it does not tingle. Good, very basic, sheer pink gloss -- no more, no less.

Primer/ Corrector -DHC - Velvet Skin Coat
rated 5 of 5
AngelZoe 1/20/2006 8:49:00 AM

The best primer I have ever used. Dries instantly, so there is no tackiness or oiliness. Time is of the essence in the morning, when I am getting ready for work. I like that this product is ready for fndtn quickly, without having to set. The result is a soft, smooth, mate finish that is not the least bit dry or flaky. I am sold.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - The Different Company - Rose Poivree
rated 3 of 5
AngelZoe 1/19/2006 1:16:00 PM

How to say this delicately? You are wearing a rose perfume, and then enjoy a night of passion and pleasure. The next morning you do not shower or bathe, but spritz on some more rose, and go. This has that smell, a straight from the bordello scent of flowers and rutting. Do not wear this to work, unless you want to be gossiped about at the water cooler.

Eyeliner -Avon - Glimmersticks eye liner
rated 5 of 5
AngelZoe 1/16/2006 2:51:00 PM

These pencils are soft, creamy, long-lasting and do not require sharpening. The go on gently without tugging or scratching. They come in decent colors, and are kohl-like in their texture, although they generate a slim line. Glimmersticks do not get the respect they deserve. You can buy a handful of these on sale, not break the bank, and have gorgeous eyes. HG!

This stuff does not get the respect it deserves. Great vivid teal green shade that is rich, creamy, and long -lasting. Requires no sharpening and lasts forever and a day. What's not to love?

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Une Rose
rated 4 of 5
AngelZoe 1/6/2006 9:51:00 PM

This is a true rose fragrance, and reminds me pleasantly of Avon Roses, Roses from the seventies. This is comforting and nostalgic. Not a femme fatale fragrance by any means. Soft, rosewatery, shy and as innocent as they come.

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Lipstick Rose
rated 5 of 5
AngelZoe 1/6/2006 11:32:00 AM

You know this fragrance. It lures you like a siren, to the shores of memory and and your first innocent kiss of your Mother's lipstick. You are in her vanity, or perhaps you perch on the bathroom sink, and reach into the ultimate cookie jar. And there it is. A very red, very opaque, very rich lipstick slithers out of its gilt case, with a delicious whispering swivel. The scent of rosewater, candied violets, and a splash of vanilla hits you as you glide this creamy candy across your lips. This, your introduction to female sexuality, and the essence of the X chromosome. Lipstick Rose brings back those moments. They have bottled "female" and you will know it as soon as you wear it. Don't let the "old fashioned" floral notes scare you. This can be a gourmand fragrance, reminiscent of the sugared almonds you get at Italian weddings.

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - L'Eau d'Hiver
rated 5 of 5
AngelZoe 1/5/2006 12:35:00 PM

What a contemplative, wistful, ethereal conjuration this is. It starts out a bit bracing and astringent, almost like a bergamot or lemon grass, and then settles into a mellow fugue that reminds me of the scent left on my hands and clothes after I have been baking. Powdery, perhaps, but maybe a bit floury, as well. Today the snow falls steadily, and the spruces are wearing powdered sugar finery. The sky is the color of doves, and the foghorns call mournfully to one another. Inside, white birch crackles in the old iron stove, and I am moved to think tenderly of those I love, who trust me with their gentle hearts. This is a spiritual fragrance, which will move you to meditate on the sad beauty of winter, and appreciate the warmth of your inner hearth. The white of the snow, the white of the birch, and the inner fire of your soul will be soothed by its gentle song.

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - En Passant
rated 4 of 5
AngelZoe 1/4/2006 9:18:00 PM

Wistful, tender, and bittersweet. When the lilacs bloom the spring air is perfumed in a glorious, heady way. This fragrance reminds me of the fleeting joys of blooming lilacs -- it's all over in a week or two, and then you wait another year. It also reminds me of how fleeting the springs of our lives can be. This perfume is for the young, or young at heart; the incurable romantics who savor those terribly short moments of glory and bliss. Its gossamer beauty will shine on those tender, poetic souls.
