Eye Shadow -Milani - Classic Beige
Africanbeauty 4/21/2007 1:40:00 AM
By looking at it, I'd never have known how gorgeous it would make me feel. It's a pale gold shade, which I became addicted to after trying Mark's Toute Sweet creme eye shadow in Frou Frou. Without any mascara, falsies, or eye liner, this gives me the gorgeous cateye look I adore. I'm so glad I spent the mere $2.99 on this gem, I will definitely have to stock up now. Gorgeous, can't go wrong color. My HG shadow (I've used cheapies such as Color Works, as well as MAC, and Almay).

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Miss Dior Cherie
Africanbeauty 4/21/2007 1:28:00 AM
This scent definitely grew on me. It reminds me a touch of Angel, in the sense that it's supposed to be a gourmand but they add patchouli to it (which in my opinion just mucks it up). It's definitely different, when I sniff it, I smell sharp/sweet/green notes. I think of it as caramel topped leaves. However I noticed when I let it sit on my skin for awhile, the scent became kinda citrusy, and definitely very pretty. I really like this scent, it's not awful in the initial spray, but could be much better. The drydown is what keeps me though. I received a big bottle in swap and decided to part w/it, and when I want this scent, I use spray samples of it.

Lip Gloss -mark - Juice Gems in Creme Caramel
Africanbeauty 4/12/2007 2:38:00 AM
I purchased this late last year , when the Juice Gems bakery trio were offered, I think as a replacement for the Toute Sweet line. The flavors were the same as the Toute Sweet line (which I like), minus the Marshmallow and Sugared Almond flavors. I was excited to try this, and outside of my not liking the applicator (why did they have to use a textured/cloth tip?), I thought the color was lovely. No flavor to speak of taste-wise, but a strong maple syrup scent which I hated came with this product. All of the above said, tonight I was going through my lip glosses, and came across this "Gem" and thought I'd use some (after not having used it in about a month give or take), and was shocked to find it had spoiled! Think about food left out, that is what happened to this.
I remember reading on the Mark message boards about how the applicator tends to go "funky", but this wasn't "funk". This product actually went bad, like mold or something, I think if I used it I'd get sick. As I write this I am considering contacting the company, because no one should have this happen to them. I've used natural/unnatural lip products, and never have I had mold issues prior to this. I gave it a "2" instead of a "1" because when it was unspoiled the color was pretty. I'll never buy this item again.

Lips -My Lip Stuff - Mixed Mystery Lip Balm
Africanbeauty 4/9/2007 5:35:00 PM
I was curious about this brand, and I received this item as an extra from a lovely swapper. It took me awhile to try it, but when I did, I noticed it burned my lips. I looked at the ingredients and nothing seemed irritating on the label, so I have no idea what happened. I will never use this brand again.

Fragrances -Banana Republic Beauty - W Eau de Parfum
Africanbeauty 2/25/2007 12:24:00 AM
I received this in swap, the small bottle, and I'm not sure of the cost. That said, this smells wonderful, strongly of Orange Blossom in my opinion. I am also strongly reminded of Bath & Body Works Cotton Blossom, if you like that scent, you'll probably enjoy this as well. It's clean, powdery, unoffensive, a touch preppy/cookie-cutter/detergent/unisex imo, but that's fine by me. Will repurchase, if I find it for a decent price.

Fragrances -Trish McEvoy - Blackberry and Vanilla Musk #9 EDP
Africanbeauty 1/29/2007 4:07:00 PM
Lemming finally cured lol. My boyfriend purchased this for me recently, and I just received it today, and sprayed it twice. The cost is ridiculous, but I will say I can tell a difference between Philosophy's Falling in Love, and No.9. Falling in love is sharper in my opinion, and almost peppery to my nose. This is the sweeter one, but I don't really get vanilla from it, more like blackberries, citrus, and a touch of musk. It's light, but not too light, my biggest problem (second to cost) is that it does disappear very quickly (like in less than an hour my first spritz is almost non-existent). The No.9 cream/shower gel both last pretty long, so they'd be perfect for layering the scent. All of the above said, I do like this, I don't know if I "love" it yet lol, that depends on what others have to say about it when I debut the perfume.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - temptations 3 in 1 Crazy Caramel Corn
Africanbeauty 11/24/2006 5:34:00 PM
This scent is dead-on, it's buttery caramel-covered popcorn, in the best possible way (which says a lot as I love caramel corn *yum*). I can't wait to try the body lotion, I am very disappointed that there isn't a body spray to it :(, Mark Toute Sweet's line had the same flaw.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Pure Poison
Africanbeauty 10/29/2006 1:44:00 AM
Well, thanks to swapping, I've received tons of perfume samples (thank you ladies :) ), and this is one of the many. I recently decided to use it, or lose it, with my perfume sample stash (well most of my beauty products, but I digress), and so I decided to spritz some on today, and I'm very pleased with this scent. Initially it was hard to describe, but very pleasant, now that that it's had time to develop on my skin, it smells like my beloved Moonlight Path from B&BW ! I was shocked when I noticed a little while ago the "Moonlight Path" scent on my arm, since I broke the nozzle on my Moonlight Path body splash a few days ago, so there's no chance it was from that. It's so beautiful, I don't know the notes in this scent, but if someone does, maybe they can find the common note(s). From Bathandbodyworks dot com, here are the Moonlight Path notes:
Fragrance Top Notes: Bergamot, Lavender, Mandarin, Coriander
Fragrance Mid Notes: Rose, Jasmine, Violet, Tuberose, Ylang, Lily of the Valley
Fragrance Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vetyver, Oakmoss, Vanilla, Amber, Musk
Also I think the name of this scent shouldn't be Pure Poison, it's nothing like Poison (honey/musk/?) or Hypnotic Poison (my personal fave, vanilla/rootbeer/licorice), it should be a stand alone perfume.

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Petite Cherie
Africanbeauty 10/29/2006 1:19:00 AM
If this woman didn't make so much money from her fragrances, I'd suggest she find another career lol. Seriously, I hate her fragrances, I've tried eau de Charlotte (which is supposed to be a chocolate/berry jam scent, nothing but lily of the valley *argh*) and now this scent which I've wanted to try for years (based on tons of positive reviews), and was recently given the opportunity by a lovely MUAer, when she included this as a extra in our swap. The scent is fruit and grass, the fruit nor the grass smell great, and together are just awful. I admire Goutal's imagination, but she needs a new developer for her scents, and she might want to try being down-to-earth with her notes, I never hear anyone saying "I'd love to find the perfect grass scent!" lol.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears
Africanbeauty 10/29/2006 1:08:00 AM
When I first tried this, I couldn't stand it. Now I absolutely love it, after visiting my local Walmart a few times, and spraying myself on the wrist with the Curious tester each visit (about 3 times so far), I'm convinced this scent is gorgeous, I am planning on purchasing it soon! The smell is light flowers/vanilla/pear/musk I can't stop sniffing my wrist when I apply it. Edit (9/17/07)- I've received SOOOOO many compliments on how I smell when I've worn this. From guys and girls, and amazingly I don't run into too many people wearing it (big plus for me, because I'd hate to smell like someone's ex-girlfriend, nemesis, etc. lol) . I've also taken to the roll-on w/the pretty pink lip gloss on the other side. I highly recommend it!

Eye Shadow -mark - whipped cream - eye shadow - Frou
Africanbeauty 10/25/2006 9:05:00 PM
This color actually looked really pretty on me. It enhanced my eyes, and gave me a cute/innocent kittenish look. I gave it 3 lipppies, instead of 5 because it burns when it gets into your eyes, which is hard to avoid since it's a goopy formula. Otherwise I like it a lot, and if it were available, I'd purchase it again, the color is a pale goldish hue.

Cleansers -Serious Skin Care - Glycolic Cleanser
Africanbeauty 10/19/2006 11:31:00 AM
I have sensitive, acne-prone, skin and these are my observations w/this product:
Pros-
Cleanses thoroughly
Exfoliates
a little goes a long way
great hygenic pump design
Fragrance/Oil/Soap free
Gives a smoother texture to skin with continued use (including making pores appear reduced)
Cons-
Smells like Elmers glue (unpleasant)
burns like H-E-Double Hockey Sticks
Expensive (if you're accustomed to paying drugstore prices, but worth it imo, also try purchasing from Ebay)
Avoid your eye area @ all costs when it comes to this acidic product
Will not fix your acne blemishes by itself (believe me, I've tried)
^^end^^
All of the above said, this is an excellent cleanser, and to those who can handle the cons mentioned, it's definitely worth trying.

Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Emporio Armani She
Africanbeauty 10/14/2006 2:59:00 AM
First let me say this is beautiful! I remember when this was released, back in the 1990's , I was a teen girl, sniffing my Cosmopolitan magazine to death lol, this scent grabbed my affections way back then. Speed ahead to the past year, I hadn't smelled this since I was a teen, I just remember there was an Armani scent I adored. It was between this and Mania, I thankfully purchased this in full-size and Mania as a sample, because it turns out this was the one! Until tonight I hadn't really used this scent, so I couldn't give a good or bad review on it, but tonight I decided to spritz myself, and I'm in LOVE! It's sultry, clean, completely unoffensive, complex, and smells dead-on like Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan! I couldn't believe it, that's another scent I am quite fond of (smelling Cashmere Mist only through scent strips, and the cream, never used the parfum directly :( ), I'm sure you will love this one, I believe I purchased my bottle at an inexpensive price from perfumebay.com , good luck ladies! Edit: I just wanted to add, after checking out the other reviews, this doesn't really remind me of VS Heavenly. VS Heavenly does remind me a little of Cashmere Mist, which is kinda funny, like this is the missing link or something lol. This is soft, and Heavenly (which I also love) is sharp. That's a big difference right there, but they both have a clean/powdery essence to them.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Vanilla Spice Body Butter
Africanbeauty 10/3/2006 11:25:00 AM
Wow this smells really nice, very strong cinnamon scented vanilla body butter. It smells of oatmeal cookies in my opinion. I personally am not a fan of spicy scents, but I think this is great, 5 lippies!

Africanbeauty 10/1/2006 2:02:00 AM
I love this scent so much! It's very warm, comforting, and delicious. I am a foody scent lover, and while I don't think this smells like syrup, I can understand those who aren't into foody scents, not liking it. This is one of my favorites, 5 lippies hands down.
