Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear - Celeb City
Menolikepolos 5/6/2011 4:07:00 PM
I got this really cheap ($1.50) during Bogo at WalGreens.... thought it would be cute on my toes for summer. It is definitely gunmetal silver... very very metallic-y. Just not for me, but nothing wrong with the polish in general - gave it a 3. *EDIT* Ok, after 3 weeks, this polish has faded into a cooler, muted silver that is very pretty. Still not that chipped! impressive, even for a glitter polish. Might be a nice fall back for the summer.

Lipstick -Revlon - porcelain pink
Menolikepolos 5/6/2011 1:23:00 PM
This was too shiny and bright for my MLBB. The picture is a little lighter than the pink that appeared when I put this on. If it had looked like the picture, I would have kept it : )

Lip Gloss -Essence - Lip Gloss
Menolikepolos 5/6/2011 12:12:00 PM
I like the formula. Decently moisturizing. The color Nude Kiss is an MLBB with sparkles color, and Rock On is a purple/plum. Decent buy for $2 each, but none of these are my favs.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
Menolikepolos 5/6/2011 10:47:00 AM
Here is my summary: -Hair: will try again, but not HG. If doesn't work over time, will stop completely. -Legs: HG! -Feet: HG! -Lips: Not bad in a pinch. -KP on arms: Made worse. -Cuticles: HG! -Face: Not for me. I took a hot bath, shaved, washed my hair, and exfoliated. Then slathered coconut oil over my entire body and hair. Took a low heat dryer to my hair for 30 minutes, off and on, then went to sleep. Results: -Hair: (I have 3b? curly hair, mixed ethnicity products work for me because parts of my hair are very fine while other parts are so tightly S curled and frizzy it's kinda nappy? *sry if that's inappropriate word* - when wearing it natural, I have to CO wash it, and weigh it down with massive moisture, end up with triangle head most days, so am always looking for that HG moisture product for curly dryness. I recently gave up going natural and returned to my Keratin straightening treatments, and am now not looking for a leave in product, but something to mend the frizzy and split ends that happen over time with this hair) The hair itself doesn't seem that different. It was really hard to wash out (I oversaturated), and that may have stripped some of the benefits away. Or maybe it would be better over time and repeated usage. My styling as nice, but no more than if I used Morracan Oil on wet hair before blow drying with a round brush. But hey, coconut oil is cheaper... not quite HG for me with the hair. Might try to repeat over time and see if it helps mend more than way. -Legs: (have pale legs with dark, fast growing hair, so in the summer, tend to shave every other day. I am usually running late and am too lazy to moisturize, so my legs tend to be the dryest skin of my body). This is HG! My legs feel smooth and supple, a little slippery on the first day, but it's the second day and I don't feel the need to shave and they feel wonderful. -Feet: (I have dry heels, pretty normal though). This was wonderful too - I like how the coconut oil seems to keep moisturizing your skin even after it rinses off, and it doesn't make it hard to wear shoes (slippery feeling - I hate that). -Lips: (I have dry patches on my lips now, really bugging me since this is recent development, prob from not drinking enough water) Didn't solve my dry patches, but they are considerably better. As in, I don't notice them unless I check to see if they are still there... however, can't exactly carry around a tub of this in my purse to whip out and reapply, so not HG. -KP on arms: (I have mild KP, better now that I stopped tanning - think the tanning oil made it worse - and use a clarisonic on it twice a week). Some reviews said it helped their KP, I think this just irritated mine. Was redder than usual, but this could be a pattern for me that heavy oils on my arms make my KP worse. -Cuticles: (I have dry, peely culticles) this worked wonders, 48 hours later, still no little white skin that makes me want to scissor it off. -Face: (I have normal skin which doesn't need moisturizer except after exfoliation but tends to turn slightly oily as the day goes on). Not for me. Didn't break me out except two tiny blemishes which may or may not be linked to the coconut oil because they were not near my hair line plus i get small blemishes occasionally anyway. But even after I washed it off, it didn't sink into my skin, and my makeup got oily very fast that day. Second day after rinsing and back to normal, feels very smooth and supple under my foundation, but since my face doesn't need this much moisture on a regular basis, won't be using again. Maybe will use as a cheap moisture mask in the winter. EDIT Jan 2013: I tried using Coconut Oil as a cheap winter body moisturizer. After 2 months, I just switched over to Avocado Oil, which does not break me out. I found that upon regular use on my body, it seemed to actually dry out my skin rather than hydrate it. Also, any hint of Coconut Oil near my face just terrified me, as any contact with the substance gives me cystic acne on my face. I will stick to less inflammatory oils from now on, and save the Coconut Oil for cooking.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Occitane - Divine Eyes
Menolikepolos 5/4/2011 11:02:00 AM
Bought this after a coworker raved about the wonders it did for her undereye circles. On the days I use it at night and reapply in the morning (50/50, as I am lazy) it really does take my eyes from zero to hero. I still feel the need to use concelour, but it has controlled the darkness to the point to where concealor actually works haha. It's not a "fix" as you need to reapply for the same effect every night, but, at least it does something! Still searching for HG product so I don't look like Rocky Balboa...

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - dr bronners assorted scented castille soaps
Menolikepolos 5/4/2011 10:25:00 AM
This product was ok... I can see someone being very excited about this for 4 reasons: 1. it really is multi-purpose. comes in travel sizes for easy packing with carry on luggage (can't emphasize enough on how I will be remembering this little guy for business travel). 2. you can do alot of things with a very small amount (lasts for a long time). 3. it is cheap. 4. all natural so no chemicals (yay!) downsides: upon repeated use, it is VERY DRYING. It is ok as a hand soap when dilluted. I use 3-4 drops on my Clarisonic to wash my face after removing my makeup, and found I could only do this 1-2x a week before I started having dryness issues (and I have combo to oily skin). As another reviewer noted, it leaves a tight feeling on the skin, which I usually dislike. I didn't even think of using on my hair as shampoo, because I typically only use conditioner anyway. So while I wanted to love it for all the above reasons, if I really used it to that extent, I would be living a dryness nightmare.... so no HG product for me.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Care - Strawberry
Menolikepolos 5/4/2011 9:57:00 AM
Think Cherry Chapstick - minus the wax, plus some gloss. I picked this up over the weekend at Ulta, an impulse buy since my lips have been very dry and patchy lately (prob from not drinking enough water, but anyways), and I love the Nivea moisturizer, so gave this a try. After reapplying constantly over 48 hours, my lips have gone from scratchy and dry patches to smooth but still tight, a major improvement. I like the tint and the not so waxy feeling also. Took off a lippie because the application is a bit wide, and I have big lips, so it would be better if it were skinnier... also because the tint is very strong (I am NW20). My trainer asked me if I was wearing lipstick... not exactly the reaction I want to be getting from my lip balm.

Crème -L'Oreal - True Match Super Blendable Compact Makeup
Menolikepolos 5/3/2011 12:19:00 PM
(originally gave it a 3) I use True Match liquid and powder, so thought I would try the compact. I don't like using it alone as a foundation - on my bare skin, even with primer, it is just too oily and sits on my skin rather than sets, even after mattefying powder. However, I do like carrying it around in my purse to touch up the liquid foundation base during the late afternoon hours, as this makeup tends to not have the lasting power I would like (my only complaint about True Match, which is my HG drugstore foundation at the moment). However, because the oil is a huge factor, I tend to throw on some mattefying powder before and after applying the compact as a touch up, and I don't use the sponge, I use a MAC brush (109?) to blend the compact foundation in as concealor on my acne scars and nose crease redness that peep out after True Match starts its afternoon fade. That being said, I love that it matches my foundation perfectly. However, the compact is so oily, and the powder is so powdery (haha), I wish they could combine these products so I didn't have to carry around both. Basically, I want the Maybelline PureStay Pressed Powder, but in that color. HA! Hope this helps someone making that decision. **EDIT** (changed from a 3 to a 5) So I ran out of the house late one day and literally just wiped this on my face while stopped at lights, and dusted it off with Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I had a stressful day at work, then spent an hour sweating at the trainers, only to try and put myself together to have dinner with my boyfriends parents. Much to my surprise, the compact makeup withstood the "sweat/gym" test better than the liquid foundation - without primer!!!!! whaaaaat???? Not sure this is my HG foundation, but N2 is a dead ringer for my skin tone, and for the days I am running late (90% of the time), this may be my go to for now. **EDIT** (changed from a 5 to a 4) my skin tone has changed to W1/N1 mix. still like cream foundations, but this is not my favorite. it's good, however, when in a bind.

Lips -Physicians Formula - Plump Potion - Rose Potion
Menolikepolos 5/2/2011 2:41:00 PM
I am reviewing the Plump Potion LIPSTICK version of this (Pink Rose Potion). A slight tingle, and a medium plumping effect (which is ok, seeing as how my lips r kinda big anyway). not a porn star plump in this case. i really like the color - it is soft, and goes with my gray suits (without being too frosty).

Cleansers -MAC - Makeup Remover Wipes
Menolikepolos 5/2/2011 12:44:00 PM
Same review as for "MAC Wipes" (same thing?) This takes my makeup off (even eye! - except waterproof mascara) with two swipes... can't beat. Seems a little pricey, but I'll pay for convenience.

This is WAY better than the BE brush cleaner! For $12 a bottle, you can't beat it. Removes all the makeup, my brushes look new again!?! insane.
