Lip Gloss -Mary Kate and Ashley - Liquid Color Ultra Wet Lip Gloss

OK, I'm probably old enought to be MK&A's mother, but I do LOVE these liquid colour lip glosses! The colours are decently pigmented, have gorgeous pouty shimmer and aren't sticky so someone like me can actually wear them on a windy day with long hair! TRULY is my absolute favorite. It's a rosey pink with gold shimmer. Almost metallicy but not over the top. This is almost a YLLB colour on me, but the gold really adds a pretty fullness to my lips. IN LOVE is a close second. This is more of a bronzey peach with that same gold shimmer that adds nice dimension to my lips and nice pigment. I did also try DAZED which is a milky opalescent grey/pink/beige. Unfortunately it was a bit too light/grey for me and wasn't the most flattering for my colouring. I wish they had something similar with less 'grey/mauve' in it. I can't exactly knock this one because the colour didn't suit me, because all the other qualities about these are great. Repurchase? Definitely!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Eye Smoker

I have several of these but Antique Gold has to be my favorite. It's awesome on my top lash line just above a black liner. The gold/bronze shimmer brightens up my eyes and it works well with all my bronze e/s. I do find the darker colours harder to work with since they are so 'chubby'. I get the best effect just darkening the upper outer corners of my eyes with them. I have Carob (dark golden brown), Forest (shimmery olivey green), Indigo (shimmery navy), Eggplant (deep purple) Antique Gold (shimmery golden bronze) and Honey Kissed (light golden taupey beige). I know these are being disc'd and London Drugs is pretty much out of them everywhere I look, but I noticed Shoppers Drug Mart still has them at the regular price! When SDM decides to put them on sale, I'll be stocking up on Antique Gold!

Eye Shadow -Annabelle - Staying Power Eyeshadow Pencil

Wow, these are really long lasting! I finally tried "Pearl" a little while ago and it does stay on all day without smudging. I use it to brighten the inner corners of my eyes. Pearl is a shimmery white with subtle gold shimmer. Not overpowering. I also got "Mirage", a light brown cool taupey beige and "Exotic Pink", a ltd. ed. from this past summer and a med. pink with a touch of gold. I'm still kicking myself for not getting "Golden Apricot" when I saw it in the clearance bins ~ like MAC Melon piggy in a stick! I hope they come out with more colours.

Highlighters -Annabelle - Snowdust
rated 4 of 5
BCbabe 1/19/2004 2:26:00 PM

I'm debating whether or not to get a back up for this, especially now that they're on sale. Snowdust is a very pretty whitish looking pressed powder with what looks like a gold sheen... but applied the pink also comes through. I had the same reaction as the other reviewers ~ it's like a subtle pressed MAC Vanilla pigment. Much more subtle than the pigment and adds a very pretty glow on the cheeks. I haven't tried it on my eyes yet, but I certainly should! Annabelle puts out some pretty decent stuff and this is no exception. Too bad it's ltd. ed.! (Now, about that backup...!)

Lipstick -Quo - Lipstick in Girlfriend
rated 4 of 5
BCbabe 1/19/2004 2:17:00 PM

As the previous review stated, this is similar to MAC "O". Darn it all, I had "O", but found it was a bit strong for my colouring, but this one looked so pretty in the container! A berry undertone with bronzey shimmer. Gorgeous, but just not the best for my colouring and I prefer to tone down my pigmented lips... I'll keep it in my kit though since there may come a time for me to be adventurous! These are nice quality. Smooth and fairly moisturizing and currently at a great price. $6.99 - $7.25 Cdn depending where you go. (Yes, both SDM I went to had varying prices, but generally 1/2 price.)

Lipstick -Quo - Lipstick in Blah Blah Blah
rated 4 of 5

I had to hunt one of these down after stumbling across a box of QUO lippies at a Shoppers Drug Mart with a 50% off sign. All they had was the tester for this colour. Fortunately I found ONE at the next SDM I visited and I'm very pleased! A gorgeous shimmery mid-tone pink with gold microglitter. It reminds me of MAC Nymphette lipglass only deeper and peachier. It's not super pigmented, but has a very pretty pinky/gold sheen. Too bad these are being disc'd. I see the new batch of lippies (in bulkier clear plastic/lucite containers) are all new colours. The only one similar was one called "Cosmopolitain" which is a very pale version of Blah Blah Blah. Very pale pink with gold. I'm intrigued... Now I wish I'd picked up "Girly Gril" (light/med shimmery true pink) and "Kitten" (shimmery mauvey pink).

Lipstick -Prestige - Glitz
rated 4 of 5

I love this colour! It's a shimmery neutral pink that just adds a touch of colour to my lips and a pretty sheen. They could be a tad more moisturizing but I wouldn't exactly call them drying. (I let MAC set the golden standard for Frost lippies...) A definite repurchace. I only wish the colour selection was a lot broader in Canada. It's embarassingly limited!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Lineur Intense

I've repurchased this over and over. Simply the best drugstore liquid liner with a great little brush. Easy to get a smooth application, dried quickly and won't run or smudge.

Blush -NARS - Outlaw
rated 5 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:30:00 PM

I think I can safely say that of all my NARS powder blushes, this is my favorite. A beautiful berry with a hint of shimmer that seems to suit my skintone perfectly. Deeper and brighter than Sin with less plum, more 'berry'.

Blush -NARS - Crazed
rated 4 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:29:00 PM

Wow! Can you say "Holy pigment, Batman!" This is one gorgeous but finicky blush. You need SO little product on your brush for an 'in-from-the-cold' glow. Compared to Outlaw, this makes it look almost muddy. The shimmer also is not at all overpowering once applied. It is brighter/cheerier than Outlaw. I would probably repurchase, but doubt I'd ever have to. You need such a light hand that this'll last forever.

Highlighters -NARS - The Multiple in Copacabana
rated 5 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:24:00 PM

Copacabana is a gorgeous, creamy user-friendly highlighter. I use this mostly for my cheekbones. I have a few highlighter sticks from SK, L'Oreal, Revlon, MAC... but this one wins if not just for it's dreamy texture alone.

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Palm Beach
rated 4 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:19:00 PM

I love NARS Multiples! Palm Beach is a shimmery bronzey brown that I love wearing across my cheeks and bridge of my nose for a sunkissed look. I only removed one lippy because they seem to fade away a little by the end of the day and are sooo expensive in Canada! Still, my favorite cream bronzer.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Eyeshadow Pot
rated 4 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:07:00 PM

I recently found these in a grocery store, of all places (Save On Foods, B.C.) They're in great little flip top black square pots and the e/s quality is great! Nicely pigmented and smooth/silky. These are as good as high end anyday. I only wish we had the full line of colours here. I've seen the website so I know I'm missing out!

Styling Products -Sebastian - Get it Straitt
rated 1 of 5
BCbabe 1/15/2004 4:04:00 PM

When this first came out, it got all the raves in the magazines so I had to try it to see if it would smooth my wavy/frizz prone hair. It did nothing! The texture was like watery lumpy gelatin with no smooth feel at all. Thank goodness I also got a round boar brush packaged with it so it wasn't a total loss! Of all the straightening products I've tried, this one was the worst.
