Top/Base Coats -Unlisted Brand - Nails Inc
MalibuMands 5/24/2008 12:05:00 PM
Underground Base Coat: I use this clear, quick drying base coat to avoid staining my nails (I adore dark, vampy colours). My colour seems to glide on smoother too! Also, when I remove the polish it ‘melts’ of effortlessly. Albert Bridge Top Coat: With this glossy top coat I get 3 – 4 days of wear out of my polish before it starts to chip. Seeing as I use a self-powered wheelchair, I’m thrilled with this. My sister can go a week chip free. Heathrow Express Base & Top Coat: As a base coat this is just as good as UNDERGROUND. However, as a top coat this is just OK. ALBERT BRIDGE gives a longer wear.

NAILS INC is a fabulous quality range - the quality is right next to OPI: applies with no streaks, it's fast drying and it's long lasting. Perfect for tipping. (I found mine to be too thick to use as a polish). Malibu Sheer, an orange based pink, with a gold iridescence. Clerkenwell Solid, a medium purple, with flashes of blue in selected lighting. Kensington Road Caviar - Solid, tomato red (looks dusky pink in bottle) with a gold irridesence. Fragrances -Ghost - Ghost EDP
MalibuMands 5/24/2008 10:56:00 AM
I used to work with a woman who’d smell like Turkish delight. So me being me, I had to get some of this myself. Although it does indeed smell of Turkish delight the fragrance isn’t gourmand. This sweet smell is due to the heady top notes. The middle phase seems slightly spicy to me. The best phase, however, is the vanilla and apricot in the dry down. I adore GHOST; It's by far my favourite perfume. I've used several bottles now and still am not bored by it. GHOST is a heady fragrance, so the lasting power is wonderful. Just remember to use it sparingly. Scent notes: Hibiscus, rose, amoretti grains, jasmine, sandalwood, frankincense, vanilla, musk, ambergris and apricots.

Foundations -Max Factor - Seamless (liguid)
MalibuMands 3/27/2008 3:22:00 PM
The main reason I tried this was because I have pale skin (NC15 on a good day), so I needed something easy to blend. Porcelain (001) is the perfect shade. As the name SEAMLESS suggests, this foundation is a light formula & it’s really easy to blend. Since its main function is to blend easily & flawlessly, the coverage isn’t that great. If you have an uneven complexion this foundation will even it out for you, no problem. However, for bad days when I could use a little more help, I’ll look else where. SEAMLESS is little help when it comes to blemishes. So why would I buy this again? I’ve already said this foundation has a light formula. It’s great for my dry & sensitive skin, it doesn’t cake or flake. Most days a light coverage is enough for me. If you don’t like the look or feel of a traditional foundation, SEAMLESS is the one for you.

Blush -Revlon - Floral Affair Blush in Pinking of You
MalibuMands 3/20/2008 3:00:00 PM
Revlon’s FLORAL AFFAIR blushes are something I picked up because I thought they were pretty. I didn’t give any real thought as to how the colours would look like on me. Well at best I’m a NC15 skin tone, and I can honestly state that the ‘PINKING OF YOU’ shade is wonderful. At first glance it may look intimidating; three shades of pink, no highlighter or green neutraliser included is this palette. But the colour is nice and sheer (it is easy to layer), giving cheeks a rosy glow that isn’t clownish by any means. Just sweep your brush over all three shades, tap of the excess and swipe over the apples of your cheeks.

Tinted Moisturizer -BeneFit Cosmetics - You Rebel Lite Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
MalibuMands 3/20/2008 2:45:00 PM
I remember when the original YOU REBEL was released over here: All of the magazines raved about this must-have product. “Adapts to all skin tones”. Off I merrily skipped to the nearest Benefit counter; let down. It doesn’t adapt to fairer skin tones after all. My search for the perfect tinted moisturizer continued/. But now my prayers have been answered with the release of YOU REBEL LITE. This formula has been designed for the lighter Benefit followers. My skin tone is, at best, NC15, and I’ve had no difficulties blending this product seamlessly into my skin. As this is a tinted moisturiser, the coverage is very sheer. YOU REBEL LITE exists mainly to even out your skin, whilst giving a healthy ‘glow’ to the skin. It doesn’t look cakey, and it doesn’t irritate my dry skin. The tube packaging means you can get all of the product out.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Syrup
MalibuMands 3/19/2008 2:19:00 PM
An YLBB dusky pink, SYRUP goes perfectly with my NC15 skin tone. As it’s a lustre finish, the colour is sheer and fresh. The lipstick itself is non-drying. A perfect everyday shade, which matches most MU looks.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
MalibuMands 3/14/2008 12:05:00 PM
ORGASM is a MLBB shade of soft pink with a hint of peach. I can wear it with any MU look. As it's a NARS gloss you know it is a thick formula, so isn't too shiny, which I prefer as it makes it longer lasting. A must have for my handbag.

Lip Gloss -MAC - So Baroque LipGlass (Rococo)
MalibuMands 3/13/2008 4:30:00 PM
‘So Baroque’ (LE) looks like a shimmery peach in the tube. However, once applied to lips the colour is molten golden-bronze. One word of warning; shimmery. This lipglass is intensely shimmery, so some of you may want to pass it over if you happen across it. You can layer the gloss by itself to build up the colour according to your skin tone, of layer it over lipstick for a day into evening look. I found the colour of this gloss impressive. However, this is defiantly more suited to warmer weather. It’ll defiantly help you to ‘glow’ over the summer months!!

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Cannes
MalibuMands 3/12/2008 12:32:00 PM
OK, I’ll admit that CANNES doesn’t look exciting next to all the other colours, but give it a chance. It must be one of the most wearable shades. I picked CANNES because it is a good all rounder. The colour is a copper with a dash of shimmery pink. It blends beautifully with my dry NC15 skin, with I doubted at first. On cheeks it is more of a light bronzing colour, rather then a blush. The slight pink twinge gives skin a healthy glow. It does lose a lipstick for going on very lightly. Doesn’t sound like a bad thing, but it takes a few times to get the colour right, which is awkward when you’re in a rush. CANNES is a molten bronze shade on my lids. I just love it. It’s a copper on my lips, with a faint pink tinge. All in all, I’m impressed by both the colour and the quality. I’ll have to start collecting the other shades!!

Blush -Too Faced - Flushed Blush - Pretty in Pink
MalibuMands 3/12/2008 11:55:00 AM
I’ve got the cream version of this blush and I’m really pleased with the colour. One half of the stick is a shimmery light pink, the other half is a slightly darker matte pink. When the two shades are blended together with your fingers, the finish is a perfect pink for my NC15 skin, with a ‘glow’. The cream dries to a light (undetectable) powder. It’s not easy finding a flattering blush for my skin tone, so I thrilled by the results of this. I’m also fond of the stick applicator and I think the outer packaging and names are cute.
