Lip Gloss -Wet 'n' Wild - Diamond Brilliance 611
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/5/2008 6:05:00 AM

I’m really impressed by this light pink gloss (It's called PINK SAPPHIRE in the uk). The formula is prismatic, rather then glossy, similar to the way patrol shines varying shades in the light. The gloss feels soft & weightless on my lips. As the formula is sheer it doesn’t stick or gloop. As already noted, DIAMOND BRILLIANCE feels more like a lip balm; in fact it does contain vitamin E, to condition your lips. Plus, it’s cheap enough to buy a few tubes to leave in your office drawer, your car, different handbags etc. I always have one close at hand.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Rock Solid Nail Lacquer
rated 4 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 10:48:00 AM

As ROCK SOLID is cheap to buy (£1.99) I wasn’t expecting much. The polish appears shimmery to the eye, but this is not glitter, this is in fact diamonds crushed to a powder. I'll comment on the price again - £1.99! The diamond particles provide a protective barrier to your nails, helping to protect them from breaks. The formula is smooth to apply and is quick to dry. I must also comment on the design of the bottle & lid. The shape is very easy to grip, meaning there's less smudging & spills. Using my usual NAILS INC base & top coats this polish will last me around 2 days. Not one of the longest lasting polishes, however, considering the price I can't complain.

Blush -Smashbox - O-Glow
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 10:32:00 AM

I was shocked at the low rating for O-GLOW, I love it. The gel comes out of the tube clear, but on contact with your skin it transforms to varying shades of pink. The colour it turns is determined by your body heat, so it compliments your skin tone. At first application the colour may seem too vivid, but the gel is very easy to blend. I’ve had no problem using this product with my n15 skin tone. As it’s a gel, O-GLOW is especially good for my dry skin; no flakes or cakiness. Just remember: a little goes a long way.

Polishes -OPI - I've Red the Script
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 7:50:00 AM

I’m not usually a fan of red nails, but I felt stuck in a rut; about 80% of my polishes are varying shades of blue & purple. I tried I’VE RED THE SCRIPT as it’s similar to my only other red polish I’M NOT REALLY A WAITRESS. The 2 colors are indeed very similar, but while INRAW is yellow based, IRTS is blue based, so I feal more confident with it. I’VE RED THE SCRIPT is a rich, jewel shade, with a slightly pink/purple iridescence. I’ll use this color all year round, but I’d especially recommend it for autumn/winter. A perfect, warm shade that brightens up a dark, gloomy day. With topcoat this colour lasted me for 4 days. Since I use a self-powered wheelchair, I found this very impressive. OPI is my favourite brand for varnish as you are guaranteed an even, streak free finish.

Polishes -Creative Nail Design - Breathless
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 7:24:00 AM

BREATHLESS is a wonderful chocolate milkshake shade. The formula has a metallic finish which gives the shade a bronzed look in certain lighting, whilst sometimes I'm sure that there is a hint of lilac in there. I’d say that the colour can be worn all year round, but it’s especially stunning in the colder months. The best thing for me is the fact that I only need one coat. Many brands offer this, but only a few can deliver a formula that is thick, but not gloopy, and applies smoothly and streak free. Using my usual base and top coats [I prefer China Glaze ones] this polish will last me around 2/3 days with only minimal wear; but I’m tough on my nails (self powered wheelchair user), so it will last longer on other people.

Polishes -Creative Nail Design - Hotski to Tchotchke
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 7:15:00 AM

This was my first CREATIVE brand nail colour. It’s a wonderful medium turquoise shade, with a metallic finish that looks great in the sun. The shade of blue looked wonderful with my n15 skin tone. The best thing for me is the fact that I only need one coat. Many brands offer this, but only a few can deliver a formula that is thick, but not gloopy, and applies smoothly and streak free. I can't wait to try more shades from CND. Using my usual base & top coats this polish will last me around 2/3 days with only minimal wear; but I’m tough on my nails (self powered wheelchair user), so it will probably last longer on other people.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Live Luxe
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 4:12:00 AM

I love this fragrance!! LIVE LUXE is similar to the original LIVE, but the citrus notes have been played down & mixed with slightly sweet fruits. I love how the sweet & sour notes have been blended together so the fragrance doesn’t learn either way too far. LIVE LUXE also contains a floral heart. While the original went for a sharp, spicy vibe to give LIVE a jolt of energy, LIVE LUXE concentrates on conveying the gentle sense of indulgence & luxury. I don’t like strong floral, so I adore the subtleness here. The gentle base is the same as the original, but the musk & creamy vanilla is slightly more noticeable here. It seems ‘warm’ and comforting to me. Very well done. I think LIVE LUXE has the edge over LIVE as it is easier to wear. I still really like the energising & spiciness of the original, but the soft & gentleness of this appeals to me more. Scent notes: Pear, melon, citrus, apple twist, mugeut petals, amethyst freesia, honeysuckle, diamond musk, creamy vanilla & sandalwood.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Glow After Dark
rated 2 of 5
MalibuMands 7/4/2008 3:39:00 AM

On first application GLOW AFTER DARK is sweet and fruity. Some people find it too sweet, and it did start to get to me after a few wears. The middle phase is indefinable from the top notes for me. The fruit is too strong for me to pick up on the floral notes. I’ve checked the scent notes, and can see that 2 key scent notes that are in GLOW AFTER DARK are the same as the original GLOW, but this fails to remind me of the clean sophistication of the original. I adore the soft base. The gentle woody notes finally gave me a sense of the original & best GLOW with their simple, uncluttered, cleanness. I don’t like the space age, silver bottle. It sort of looks like something you’d find in a sex shop. If I’d been involved, I’d have gone for a nice smoked navy. Maybe I’d have thrown in some diamantes to replicate stars. All in all, I find GLOW AFTER DARK to be a younger, sweeter version of MIAMI GLOW. It’s a shame that they decided to make the fruit notes the sole focus, as I love the base, and if the middle floral notes had been noticeable the fragrance wouldn’t have turned sickly on me. I think it’d be best to use GLOW AFTER DARK in the fall/winter as the sweetness in too much in the warmer weather. Good lasting power though. Scent notes: Passionfriut, lychee ice, pink peony, orange flower, blond woods & soft pink musk.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Miami Glow
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 7/3/2008 7:31:00 PM

MIAMI GLOW opens with a mix of fruity top notes. It balances the line between sweet & fresh, binging to mind a summer cocktail. As the fragrance dries into the middle notes, it evolves into similar floral notes as the original GLOW. The floral notes are perfectly mixed with the amber. The vanilla/musk base reminds me of sun warmed skin. I really wish that MIAMI GLOW was a permanent edition to the J.LO fragrance wardrobe. It is far superior to GLOW AFTER DARK. The perfect summer fragrance. Scent notes: Pink grapefruit, coconut water, passion fruit, blackcurrant, orange flower, heliotrope, cyclamen, sheer amber, crystal musk, vanilla orchid and blond musk

Fragrances -J. Lo - Love at First Glow perfume
rated 1 of 5
MalibuMands 7/3/2008 7:10:00 PM

I’m very disappointed by LOVE AT FIRST GLOW. I’ve either loved or at the very least liked all of Ms Lopez’s other fragrances (Except GLOW AFTER DARK). Since this is another GLOW spin off I thought I’d notice something along the original’s clean & fresh theme... ... There’s nothing fresh, clean or sexy about this; it’s definitely a case of a spin off too far. I’m really struggling to describe the fragrance, it’s just a artifical ‘mess’ of overpowering floral to me. I can’t pick out the individual floral notes or the promised peach or vanilla. I did get migranes whenever I wore LOVE AT FIRST GLOW, it's way too strong. On the plus side; the lasting power is good & I found the Barbie pink bottle to be a cheery edition to my dressing table. (I was given a bottle as a gift, so had to wear it on occasion). I read that this scent was marketed towards the under 20 crowd. Personally I think this is too strong a fragrance for younger customers. Scent notes: Bergamot, Neroli de Provence, Peach, osmanthus, Pink Jasmine, Wild Rose, Freesia, Blond Woods, Sheer Musk & Vanilla.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Rock Solid Nail Lacquer- Pink Sapphire 229
rated 4 of 5

I was pleasantly surprised by PINK SAPPHIRE. This was one of my first WnW purchases & as it is cheap to buy (£1.99) I wasn’t expecting much. The colour is oyster pink, the colour of your natural nails. It appears slightly shimmery to the eye, but this is not glitter, this is in fact diamonds crushed to a powder. This enhances the strength of your nails. The formula is surprisingly smooth to apply. I must also comment on the design of the bottle & lid. The shape is very easy to grip, meaning there's less smudging & spills. Using my usual NAILS INC base & top coats this polish will last me 2 to 3 days. Not one of the longest lasting polishes, however, considering the price I can't complain.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine in Shiver #439E
rated 2 of 5
MalibuMands 6/22/2008 12:26:00 PM

SHIVER is a icy blue colour & can be worn all year round. One coat gives full coverage, but two coats gives a lovely silvery finish to your nails. Using my usual NAILS INC base & top coats this polish will last me1 or 2 days. Not one of the longest lasting polishes & the first coat did go on streaky & lumpy. Takes some time & practice. A shame about the formula as the colour is beautiful.

Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - Her Glossiness - Didnt Hear It From Me [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
MalibuMands 6/9/2008 5:29:00 PM

I like this lip-gloss as it’s not very sticky, plus it feels smooth on my lips. The colour is a non-shimmering milky peach tone that goes on close to a YLBB shade. It’s really easy to wear with most MU looks & outfits. The tube is a good size & the price is reasonable for Benefit. Some people don’t like the smell of apricots the gloss has, but I stopped noticing it after a few uses. I would buy this brand again in a different colour (Who Are You Wearing? is my fave), this shade didn't do any favours to my colouring. My colouring is NW15.

Polishes -OPI - A Dozen Rosas
rated 5 of 5
MalibuMands 5/29/2008 3:52:00 PM

I usually prefer darker varnish shades, but this an exception. A DOZEN ROSAS is a non-shimmery candy pink that looks lovely with my NC15 skin tone. Despite the unashamedly Barbie girl color, this polish looks grown up on & can even be worn to work without embarrassment. Go on; try it!!! OPI is my favorite brand for varnish as you are guaranteed an even, streak free finish. I’d give this 2/3 coats for an intense color. This is one of my new favorite shades.

However, it hasn't stopped me from awarding this the full 5 lipsticks.
