Loose Powders -Almay - Luxury loose powder
MegE 12/11/2001 7:08:00 PM
I was not happy with this powder. My combo skin felt greasy an hour later and did nothing for oil-control. The finish is not a true matte, as it gives a *slight* glow/shine to the skin. I gave it 2 lipsticks because I think it could work for normal-to-dry skins nicely. It's just not a good choice for those with oilier skin types. I used the shade 'Translucent", which worked OK, although it was paler than I wanted and not all that translucent...kinda ghost-like. Better for really fair/pale gals. I'm a Almay Buff/Stila B/MAC NC20.

Loose Powders -Bobbi Brown - Sheer Finish Loose Powder
MegE 12/11/2001 6:56:00 PM
***UPDATE 12/2012: 11 years and going...true HG status. :) *** ***UPDATE 7/06: YUP, I'm still using this powder daily and adore it! I can't believe I've been so devoted for so long--5 years, WOWSERS! This says something!*** ***UPDATE 12/02: I've been using this for over a year, daily, and love it! A true holy grail for me. As a reference, it took me about 10 months to finish a container...so, it's really a good value, besides being a phenomenal powder.*** ***UPDATE 1/04: STILL LOVING this loose powder! It works ALL year, and is the best ever for my sensitive/acne-prone/oily skin. Can't rave enough about it!!!*** Original Review...I LOVE this powder! I was searching forever for a loose powder that worked with my skin tone and wouldn't cause breakouts. This is it! Before BB came out with the Sheer Finish formula, I was using BB's regular formula loose Face Powder and was breaking out a bit, because of the comed. ingred. The Sheer is 100% oil-free and non-comedogenic (Sage-safe) which is perfect for those with acne-prone skin(or anyone!). This powder goes on smoothly, evenly and helps to control oil. The colors are just slightly less yellow than the older formula powder; I have light skin (MAC NC20, Stila B, Px Sheer Vellum, LM Warm Ivory, BB Warm Ivory, Almay Buff) and wear Pale Yellow. Ingredients: Talc, Ethylene/Methacrylate Copolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Silica, Zeolite, Nylon-12, PEI-10, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lauroyl Lysine, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sorbic Acid, BHT, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, [+/- (May Contain) Mica, Yello 6 Lake, Iron Oxides, Yellow 5 Lake, Titanium Dioxide, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Blue 1 Lake, Manganese Violet, Red 30 Lake, Bismuth Oxychloride, Red 34 Lake, Ultramarines, Red Lake.]

Toners -Neutrogena - Alcohol-Free Toner
MegE 11/24/2001 11:46:00 AM
I thought this was an OK toner, not great. I couldn't stand, though, the strong perfumey smell. Ick! It bothered me so much I had to return it. Instead of this product, I would recommend Paula's Choice Toners as they are truly fragrance-free, as well as being alcohol-free, gentle, and effective.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Skin Texture Lotion
MegE 11/23/2001 6:47:00 PM
I thought this was one of the worst moisturizers I've tried for my combo/senstive/acne-prone skin. It gave me zero moisture and caused my skin to get dry and flakey. Ick! Plus and most importantly, it caused me to breakout badly. Moisture Surge Extra is sooo much better for me. It keeps the moisure balance in my skin, calms the occasional flakiness and never causes breakouts or irritation.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
MegE 10/27/2001 10:40:00 AM
I've been using Moisture Surge for years and love it. I've tried other oil-free moisturizers, but always go back because it never breaks me out or causes irritation. I use it AM, under makeup and it smooths my skin and gets rid off any flakiness. At night, I use to prevent any dryness when I use my zit med. It's perfect for acne-prone skin that has some dryness. I don't think it would be enough moisture for drier skins, though. I have combo skin and it takes care my slightly dry areas while not causing shine in my oilier t-zone. ***UPDATE***: After switching to Moisture Surge EXTRA, my skins been alot happier. I'll only be buying the Extra one from now on. I strongly recommend the Extra formula over this one because it doesn't contain ginger which can sting, like this formula does.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Cucumber Vanilla body lotion
MegE 9/7/2001 10:19:00 AM
This lotion smells wonderful. Fresh and clean without being too sweetly scented. Most Cucumber lotions & shower gels, i.e. from B&BW, are too sweet and give me a headache. This one has just enough sweetness, from the Vanilla, to balance the Cucumber. The scent is so light it won't clash with your perfume. It absorbs quickly and leaves skin with that smooth "body lotion free" feeling. Works great as a hand moisturizer that's not greasy feeling. **UPDATE**: Oh, no! I've learned that The Body Shop has recently discontinued Cucumber Vanilla. =(
