Lip Gloss -Clinique - Color Surge Impossibly Glossy - Braisin
rated 5 of 5

this is exactly what i've been looking for in a gloss--moisturizing but not sticky, stays on reasonably well, and has a great reddish neutral color that doesn't turn pink on my naturally pale lips. i'm sold! for a darker or more defined lip, the sheer shaper lip pencil in black honey (another personal favorite) looks great under the gloss.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Cinnamon Buns 3-in-1

This smells delicious! This is a great body wash--especially for cold winter mornings. It's a comforting scent to wake up to. It can double as shaving cream in a pinch. It's too heavy for me to use as a shampoo/conditioner, though.

This stuff is great! I love the smell, it's lightweight, and it leaves lots of shine without weighing hair down.

Conditioner -Aveda - Pure Abundance
rated 3 of 5

Pure Abundance makes my very straight, fine hair feel thicker and look fuller after the first use, but it builds up quickly. The buildup ends up weighing hair down and (with dark hair, at least) dulls it out. My hair is normally shiny but after a few days of using PA, I noticed there was no light bouncing off of it under my bright bathroom lights. It might be the clay in the conditioner--who knows. Anyway, it's not worth the tradeoff for me.

Eye Shadow -Hard Candy - Chameleon Eyeshadow Quartet
rated 5 of 5

This is a great combination of colors. I use the lightest color every day on my brow bones & the corners of my eyes. And the darkest color makes a perfect powder eyeliner. It's got some shimmer, so it's not as harsh as a matte black. It's not often that one compact has the perfect colors for day or night wear. (And getting at at TJ Maxx on the cheap didn't hurt, either.)

Lip Treatments -Dirty Girl - Get Ready Raspberry Lipbalm
rated 4 of 5
rcmann 8/1/2005 3:31:00 PM

This is a great balm--not too thick and not too watery or greasy. And it doesn't dry lips out like other balms. I don't think it smells much like raspberry, though. More like a generic fake fruit smell. Like all Dirty Girl products, very cute packaging.

Lip Liners -Clinique - Sheer Shaper for Lips - Blushy
rated 5 of 5
rcmann 8/1/2005 11:23:00 AM

What a great product! I've tried other lipliners before, but they were always too harsh-looking. My lips are naturally pale, and this liner adds definition without looking too makeup-y. Looks good with Clinique Impossibly Glossy in Beach Bunny. I'm off to purchase the other colors!

Polishes -OPI - Revved Up and Red-y
rated 5 of 5
rcmann 8/1/2005 11:19:00 AM

This is the best red I've ever used. It's not too bright, not too dark, and has just enough shimmer without being sparkly. I'm pale and often red nail polish and lipstick turn a weird bright pink shade on me, but this color was a true red from the first coat. Highly recommended.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5

i've switched to the moisturizing gel for the hot southern summer, and absolutely love it. it absorbs immediately and doesn't leave any kind of gel film like other similar moisturizers. leaves skin soft & silky.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub
rated 2 of 5
rcmann 6/15/2005 2:50:00 PM

i used to use this product and loved it in high school. it rips my skin up now, though. i think there are many better products out these days that have not-so-scratchy exfoliators--like aveeno skin brightening scrub or clean & clear oil-free daily pore cleanser.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion
rated 5 of 5
rcmann 6/15/2005 2:44:00 PM

this is a great product. i'm fair-skinned and this adds the perfect amount of color. the brush is great, too--wide enough so there are no "cheek streaks," with firm enough bristles to make sure the product winds up where you put it. and the packaging is just plain pretty.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5

this product works very well as part of 3-step. i wouldn't use it without the 2nd step (or some type of toner), because it's too heavy to use if you have any amount of oil on your face. apply it immediately after step 2 and it absorbs perfectly. just avoid your t-zone if it's a problem area. i've switched to the moisturizing gel for summer, and love that, as well. the only drawback? like others have said, no spf. boo.
