Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe

This is really not a dupe for MAC Paint pots because (most of them) are not this dry. I can work with them but it is not as easy to blend with either my finger or a 217 MAC brush--paint pots are much easier to blend.
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner
lola88 1/5/2012 11:07:00 AM
Overall, it is an ok eyeliner - nothing to write home about. It is as black as Urban Decay Liner in Zero. It is a bit dry but it doesn't tug on the eye lid when applying. The UD 24/7 liners are a bit more creamy. I also find the lasting power of UD liners are better--more long wearing. When I put it on my upper waterline it does bleed down to the lower lash line. I look like a raccoon within an hour. Not good! I'm not a fan of the packaging. It comes in fat pencil like NYX Jumbo pencils. L'Oreal was nice enough to include an oversize sharpener. L'Oreal boasts that the shape of the liner is "perfectly shaped to glide on the top and lower lash line for dramatic shaping and contouring". I really don't think the shape is any more beneficial than any other eyeliner that is sharpened well. In all, I wouldn't repurchase but will likely use the liner up. It is just ok - meh.
I'm really surprised at all the low ratings. You definitely have to be pale to wear this blush. I'm NC10. Since I'm pale and cool-toned, this blush warms up my skin and gives a nice glow to my skin. I find that you can't swatch this blush to be able to tell what it will look like on your cheeks. You really have to try it out on your face. The color is buildable but all I need is one dip of the brush to give me a natural looking flush. It is definitely not shimmery at all. It gives a subtle sheen to the skin. The scent is a light floral that I don't detect after it is applied. I love it and will definitely repurchase again and again. If you liked NARS Sex Appeal, you will probably like this blush. If Sex Appeal was too light for you, Dandelion will probably be too light as well.
Palettes -LORAC - Bejeweled Day & Night Jewelry Box (Sephora)
lola88 11/2/2011 12:27:00 PM
This is the best holiday value set this year, bar-none. So much better than the Tarte Jewelry box. Every eyeshadow color is richly pigmented (unlike Tarte's hit or miss shades). The palettes are so transportable. I love how each palette has a matte browbone highlight and a transitional shade for blending out crease colors. The blushes are very wearable and high quality as well. The lip glosses are very wearable shades and feel lovely on the lips. The bronzer leans too orange for my skin tone (NC10). The eyeliners are not impressive. The jewelry box is made of cardboard but is sturdy enough to house my go-to jewelry. I could have done without the glitter though. This retails for $56 (vs. $52 for Tarte's version). Don't get Tarte, get this! I have alot of palettes--Urban Decay Naked, BOS, TF Natural, Dior, Chanel etc and these Lorac palettes are my favorite. I think that is saying alot.
Blush -Mally Beauty - Mally Beauty Shimmer Shape Glow Face Defining System
lola88 11/2/2011 11:39:00 AM
AWFUL! I haven't been so disappointed in a makeup product in a long, long while. Drugstore blushes and highlighters are so so better in quality than this. The blush is so not pigmented. It is like a relic from the 80's. I have to scrape the pan to get the color out. It is hard like a brick. The highlight shade would never work as a highlight on me--it is way too dark. (NC15) It is more like a blush on me. The highlight was not as hard as the blush but the quality is still not that great. The contour is probably my favorite part of the kit because it is not too orange. It is actually a nice contour shade. I'm only keeping the kit for the contour shade. The packaging is slim and practical but a bit tacky just like the whole brand.
This gloss is alot darker in the tube than it is on the lips. I normally go for much lighter colors. It's a golden corally peach. It looks darker than Peony but it is practically the same shade on the lips. Peony has cheap glitter particles. I would definitely recommend Rosegold over Peony.
This formula is fantastic!! They are lip balm lipsticks. They are alot like Clinique's Butter shine lipsticks. It is moisturizing and shiny on the lips. I bought 9 colors: - Cotton Candy (light pink with gold pearl) - Cherry Tart (light cool toned red--a VERY wearable red lip) - Berry Smoothie (berry pink) - Creamsicle (light peach - a gorgy nude peach) - Red Velvet (brown based red/maroon) - Sugar Frosting- light nudish pink - very sheer - Raspberry Pie - the most pigmented berry magenta - Cupcake (cool toned pink ) - Sugar Plum - a pretty berry plum I could have bought them all! The color range is impressive. Some colors like Rasberry were very pigmented while others are a bit more sheer. All of them are buildable in color. I passed on these colors: -Lollipop - Gaga cool-toned pink -Candy Apple (red - Cherry Tart is slightly more cool toned and more flattering on my skin) -Pink Truffle - it was more brown than pink - Gumdrop - lavender, like Lavender Whip from MAC - Peach Parfait - coral/peach - it had glitter in it. I found these at Harmon drugstores.
Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Stick Waterproof eye liner - Koi (gold)
lola88 10/13/2011 1:07:00 PM
I got this for $5 at Sephora on sale and I love it! It is a pretty gold that looks great on the lower inner lash line. It doesn't move all day--it really lasts!
Blush -L'Oreal - Project Runway - 725 - Sultry Raven's Blush
lola88 10/13/2011 12:57:00 PM
In the pan it looks VERY similar to Benefit's Dandelion. Dandelion is slightly more golden and thus warmer with less shimmer. Raven is more silver and cooler toned with a bit more shimmery sheen. I was impressed with how soft and blendable the powder was, especially since I usually dislike drug store blush. This is really more for the fair skinned (I'm NC10 for reference). If you are medium or darker then this will probably more of a highlighter for you or may be too ashy. I still prefer Benefit Dandelion but I'm glad to have both. For the money, it's a close enough dupe.
WOW! Gorgeousness in a bottle! Warm purple polish infused in multidimensional micro-glitter in gold, orange, green. Two coats work for me. One coat can be layered over other colors too. If you layer it over a darker color like Revlon Carbonite, it gives it a deeper tone. Buy this! It is beautiful!
This is a great glitter nail polish because it is neutral and can be layered over any color. It is small silver glitter mixed with larger circle silver glitter. To be honest, this is not unique. Teenage Dream by OPI is pink --same concept small glitter with larger circle glitter specks Revlon launched a baby blue color Sinful colors has glitter polish with this same concept. The silver color makes it more versatile but other nail polish brands make similar styles for much cheaper.
Lipstick -L'Oreal - Project Runway - 785 Sultry Raven's Pout
lola88 9/27/2011 12:01:00 PM
This is the EXACT same color as Fairest Nude. I am soooo disappointed that they couldn't come up with a new shade. I have both lipsticks and they are the exact same color. Now I have 2 tubes of the same lipstick. The color is nice but I was hoping for a NEW lipstick not a repeat of something I already have. Raven is ever so slightly more cool-toned, but you really have to look very closely to discern any difference. How uncreative that L'Oreal could not come up with a new shade.
I dark pewter shade. It's nice but I don't get the hype. It is gritty if you wear 2 coats.
I blend this lipstick with Gosh Darling to lighten it up. It is a rosey, mauvy, cool toned MLBB color. The smell is old fashioned. It reminds me of a darker version of Estee Lauder's Rose Amethyst (another cool toned lippie that I own and love).
Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Modern Classic Lip & Eye Palette
lola88 9/7/2011 1:56:00 PM
The eyeshadows in this palette are very muted and sophisticated--perfect for the work. Ivory - warm white matte Oyster Grey - cool champagne Antique Pink - dupe for Seedy Pearl by MAC- cool toned pink, pigmentation is not that great Quarry - sparkly grey Taffeta - toned down bronze Birch - mid tone brown matte- a great transition color for the crease Heather Rose - warm purple with bronze sparkle Navy Charchoal - grey with navy base Gold Thread - bronzy gold Espresso - dupe for MAC matte dark brown The 4 lip glosses are all rather sheer. Grape, Pink Bouquet, Golden Topaz, Paisley Rose. It also comes with a nice lip brush with cap and a decent eyeshadow brush.
