Treatments -Desert Essence - Dessert Essence Blemish Touch Stick
franknbeans82 5/29/2005 4:52:00 AM
I had such great results with Desert Essence's tea tree face wash that I could hardly wait to try this blemish stick. I assumed it would be great to use for spot treating throughout the day. The face wash is the only product to actually zap my zits (and w/o being drying), and I thought the blemish stick would have similar ingredients and work just as well. However, I found it to be a big disappointment. Unfortunately, it seems to have absolutely no zit-zapping power whatsoever. Thumbs down.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Line Intensifique
franknbeans82 3/25/2005 7:40:00 PM
I never thought I'd find an eyeliner that made me want to wear it on a daily basis. In the past, I tried pencil, automatic, and liquid brush liners. They all required a lot of time and effort to get a good effect. This stuff, however, is amazingly easy to use and creates the perfect effect on one try!!! The felt tip makes it very easy to control, and I never have difficulty in varying the thickness of my lines. Plus, it doesn't smudge and lasts all day! I hope they never discontinue it because I plan to only buy this liner from now on. I have it in the black shade, by the way. Lastly, just a heads up for you girls, it now goes by a new name: Lineur Intense, with a notation of it's old name on the side. ♥♥♥

Lip Gloss -Baby Pink - Lipgloss in Strawberry
franknbeans82 3/25/2005 7:32:00 PM
I live in the states, so I had to order this stuff from an online webstore. I must say I am very pleasantly surprised at how much I like it! I own a ton of l/gs, and this stuff tops them all in glassy shine! It is sticky and a little difficult to apply, but the way around that is applying lipbalm before Baby Pink. Anyhow, I am also very pleased at the lovely sheer berry pigment. I was afraid it would just look like any other clear l/g, but the pigment actually does show up lightly on my lips and goes well with my complexion. One more thing to note, this stuff lasted pretty well through drinks and a meal! I will definitely consider ordering more of this and possibly other shades of Baby Pink. Big thumbs up!!

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Moistureshine Tinted Lip Balm [DISCONTINUED]
franknbeans82 3/9/2005 7:04:00 AM
I don't get the hype around this stuff. It just seems like any other "tint" lipstick. It's only somewhat moisturizing, and when it wears off, your lips feel drier than before. I had it in the "Sunny" shade, which looked bland against my complexion. Not to mention, the color was not smooth and even. I didn't see the great glossy effect that other reviewers mentioned, either. On my lips, it looked about as shiny as any other regular lipbalm...nothing to write home about. This stuff is just mediocre, imo.

Cleansers -Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Organic Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi
franknbeans82 1/7/2005 4:57:00 AM
This is my HG face wash!!! I have combo skin leaning more on the dry side, and I only get the occasional zits. I've never found anything (cleansers or spot treatments) that actually zapped my zits quickly and effectively...until I found this stuff! Before I found this stuff I was stuck b/w two poor choices: 1. face washes loaded w/ chemicals and geared towards acne prone skin (not the problem I have), 2. mild face washes that clean but don't kill the few zits that I get. This stuff is all natural, so it's not too harsh on my skin. However, the ingredients actually do zap my zits unbelieveably fast. After washing my face, w/i just a few hours I can notice that my zits are noticeably smaller, and after just a couple days my zits are nearly gone, no joke!! Plus, this wonderful face wash does not dry out my skin, which was a problem I had w/ medicated acne face washes. As for the other qualities, it's not ridiculously expensive. Just like many other reviewers, I bought the large size, which will probably last me forever. I do wish that the packaging came w/ a pump. I wound up buying a small pump bottle, which I refill when necessary. The pump bottle I bought also saves me the problem of pouring more of it than I want. I will probably stick w/ this face wash forever! ♥

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Diamond Lip Treatment - Diamond
franknbeans82 1/5/2005 9:54:00 PM
My hunt for a lipgloss that looks identical to Lancome Stargloss - Starlight is over!!! What's even better is that this stuff is about 1/5 of the cost of Lancome l/g ($4 at Target, as opposed to $18+ for Lancome)!! Plus, the consistency is less runny, so it will probably last longer. It's also just as shiny and sparkley as the Lancome l/g! It has a vanilla scent and no taste. I love how it applies so smoothily and evenly! The packaging is lovely and very similar to Neutrogena's l/g (thin square tube). Lastly, the brush is exactly the same as the one in Lancome's l/g. Good job Sally Hansen! XO!

Lip Gloss -Lancome - homemade Stargloss - Starlight
franknbeans82 11/22/2004 3:30:00 AM
You only need the following three supplies: 1. a clear, high-shine l/g that stays on and moisturizes well 2. WnW Megabrilliance l/g in silver 3. a box of toothpicks. The WnW l/g has the perfect type of glitter since it's fine yet still very sparkley. However, there's too much glitter and too little l/g, which is why you need another clear l/g to use as a base. Anyway, you turn the WnW tube upside down and use a toothpick to scoop out drops of l/g. Then, stir the toothpick in the clear l/g. Continue this process until you're content with the concentration of glitter in your clear l/g. Mine came out looking exactly like Lancome Stargloss in Starlight! BTW, I used Revlon SL "Get Iced" LE as my clear base l/g. The best part of all is that it costs a fraction of the price of a Lancome Stargloss!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Basic Instinct
franknbeans82 11/15/2004 11:52:00 PM
I had the misfortune of being sprayed with this odor by an SA, while browsing lipglosses. I can honestly say it's one of the worst scents I've smelled in a long time. It assaults your nostrils and induces nausea. What's worse is that no amount of scrubbing or masking will rid you of this horrible stench for the rest of the day. It reminds me of a generic, old lady perfume, gag! If I could, I would give Basic Stink negative five lippies. Blech!!!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Love Spell EDT
franknbeans82 10/19/2004 1:59:00 AM
This stuff is very appropriately named because I fell in love with it immediately! Granted, I was driven to buy it from all the rave reviews here on MUA, but I'm still very picky with scents. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be such a lovely scent! I agree with many of the reviews that say it smells similar to Hawaiian Punch. I love that the scent is sweet, clean, and not overpowering or fake-ish. Wearing it makes me feel pretty! I got a good deal price-wise ($6 a pop) because VS was having a sale with their Garden fragrances. Lastly, the packaging is attractive, very feminine and adult. I want to stock up on this stuff!! Update 11-3-04: I got my first compliment on this stuff from a male coworker today!

Lip Treatments -Tree Hut - Lip Butter
franknbeans82 9/15/2004 6:23:00 PM
...and the best new lipbalm award goes to *drumroll* Tree Hut Lip Butter!! I am so excited that I *finally* found this stuff, and I can not rave enough about it! I've only had it for a few days, but so far I'm already liking it better than TBS Lip Butter. It seems to soak in much more and doesn't leave my lips sort of dry like the TBS Lip Butter. Not to mention, it lasts much longer than the TBS Lip Butter. AAMOF, it seems to last all day, until you eat or drink! It comes in five flavors, including: shea, rasberry, kiwi, coconut, and mango. I purchased kiwi, rasberry, and mango b/c I prefer fruity to pastry-like flavors/scents. Not only do these smell pleasant, but they also taste wonderful too. Plus, they're dirt cheap; I got mine for around $2 each!! I will be stocking up on these little gems very soon!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Pearl Plum
franknbeans82 6/13/2004 9:09:00 PM
I'm happy to say I've found another good l/g to add to my growing collection. This is a beautiful berry color w/ light silver sparkles and good shine. The price was decent, and it has no taste whatsoever. The one little complaint I have is that it smells of plastic, but fortunately the smell isn't too strong. Overall, I would definitely recommend this l/g. Update: Today was my 1st day of wearing this stuff out, and I must say, it made me feel so sexy! I love the color against my complexion, and the shine and sparkles give my lips an almost ethereal appearance. rave!

Lip Gloss -Milani - Glossy Tubes in Golden Splash
franknbeans82 6/12/2004 4:33:00 AM
Hats off to Milani for creating this absolutely wonderful product! It's smooth and moisturizing. It gives a beautiful wet shine and has very light gold sparkles. Plus, it has a yummy, peachy scent. I am also impressed w/ how much more product you get, than w/ most similar l/gs. The packaging is adorable, and I really like the soft, doe-foot applicator (makes application neater). Lastly, I love that it only costs $3.99, so that a poor college kid like me can enjoy some darned good l/g. Yay!

Lip Gloss -Milani - Glossy Tubes in BERMUDA BRONZE
franknbeans82 6/9/2004 4:00:00 AM
Yes, yes, yes! I have *finally* found my hg l/g! This stuff is absolutely amazing, and I can not say enough good things about. Let's see, where to start. The color, on me, is a sheer, light burgundy w/ soft gold shimmer (very flattering w/ my complexion). The shine-quality is outstanding, as it has a wet, glassy shine w/o looking greasy or overdone. The texture is semi-thick, creamy, and smooth. It seems to last fairly well, even after sipping a drink. Plus, it's the very first l/g I've ever found that actually feels moisturizing! Not to mention, it smells wonderful and has no offensive taste. As for the packaging, it holds a ton of product, especially for the low price ($3.99 @ Walgreens). I also love the soft doefoot applicator, and it helps to keep application neat. I haven't gotten to try the other colors yet, so I can't testify to the quality of the entire line, but so far it's getting a big, fat RAVE from me!

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Born Lippy Lip Balm
franknbeans82 3/13/2004 10:24:00 PM
I was drawn to try these b/c I loved how smooth and soft the texture was. I got two of them, strawberry and exotic passionfruit, b/c they were 2 for $7.50 (rather than 1 for $5). Both of them smell nice and have pleasant, mild sweet flavors. They also have decent shine-quality. My two complaints about these is that they're not nearly as moisturizing as I'd hoped they'd be, and they wear off fairly quickly. I really do prefer for my lippies to be emollient and somewhat longlasting, so I won't be purchasing anymore of these.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Star Dazzlers - Glorious
franknbeans82 3/13/2004 3:29:00 AM
I'm on the fence about this product. I love that the texture is smooth and non-sticky, the packaging is attractive, and the price is decent. However, I will admit that I was slightly disappointed with the color. I was expecting a glossy rusty/wine tint with multi-color sparkles, but on my lips, it's just clear w/ some sparkles and medium shine. I may try other shades of this product in the future.
