Great fresh chypre. It's my all-occasion, can't go wrong fragrance and fast becoming my signature scent. Feminine with typical Chanel complexity. It makes those new designer "fresh" fragrances seem like a car air freshener by comparison. This has wonderful depth. On my skin, the green notes and citrus are more noticeable than the floral notes. Classy and elegant. Top notes of basil, bergamot, cumin, peach, hyacinth, lemon and peach. Heart notes of honeysuckle, cyclamen, jasmine, lemon, lily of the valley, narcissue and tangerine. Base notes of civet, musk, vetiver, oakmoss, patchouli and sandalwood. This fragrance will never be out of style. It stays with you all day but it's never overpowering. It's a classic.

I tried this one because I heard it had a leather note in its base, but I couldn't detect it at all. I had to wash it off because it was far too strong for me -- and I like Angel and Youth Dew, which are considered 2 of the strongest fragrances there are!!

Far too heavy for me. The heavy vanilla base weighed it down too much for me. And the vanilla overwhelmed all the other notes. Great if you're a vanilla fan, though.

Very sweet, but I do like the praline and strawberry notes. It's like a patchouli-free Angel.

Top notes of melon, greens, peach, violet, bergamot and mandarin. Heart notes of freesia, lily, orchid and rose. Base note of musk. Okay at first, but the predominance of melon makes the drydown on this one go bad. Over-ripe melon isn't a good smell on me.

Top notes of cherry, strawberry, peach, lilac, bergomots and greens. Heart notes of orris, white rose, tuberose jasmin and lily. Base notes of amber, vetiver, tonka bean and vanilla. Nice mixture of fruity and floral. I like it because it's not overly sweet and it's soft and feminine. This is a good office fragrance.

Fragrances -Chanel - Cuir de Russie
rated 5 of 5

Very nice leather scent. Reminds me a new leather jacket. Light notes of citrus and florals keep it from being masculine. Classy and understated. Very nice drydown. I love Chanel No. 19 which also has leather in it, but in a much lighter strength. Take No. 19, magnify the leather note by 10x and lighten up on the greens and florals and you have an idea of what Cuir de Russie is like.

As you can tell by my other reviews, I'm big on women's fragrances with leather notes. This is a classy one. Top notes of bergomot, lemon, ylang ylang and orange blossoms. Heart notes of sage, jasmine, vetiver, rose and patchouli. Base notes of leather, tobacco and oakmoss. This is deep and sultry, but don't mistake it for a spicy fragrance like Youth Dew or Opium. Reminds me of something Lauren Bacall would have worn in a Humphrey Bogart movie. Stops short of smelling masculine, but stays clear of florals and sweetness of any kind. Definitely for a minority of women since the majority are into sweet florals these days.

Nice scent for those of us who like leather notes in our fragrances, but still want them to be feminine. Top notes of artemisia, bergomot, gardenia and aldehydes. Heart notes of leather, rose, orris, jasmine and carnation. Base notes of myrrh, civet, vetiver, amber, patchouli, castoreum and mousse de chene. Nice cold weather scent.

Fragrances -Chanel - No.19

I love the green and leather notes in it. It's a classic that will work for any occasion -- office, casual or romantic. Sweet florals are all the rage now it seems, so I also like that this one sets me apart from everyone else. If you like sweet florals, stay far away from this one. It's an elegant, refined, green fragrance. And the leathery drydown is wonderful! A classic.

Fragrances -Gres - Cabotine

I really like this fragrance! I kept ignoring it for years because I thought the cap with the gaudy plastic green flower was kinda cheap looking, so the perfume must be cheap (in quality) too. Also, it's always easy to find marked down at Marshall's or TJ Maxx so I turned my nose up at it. Yes, I was a perfume snob. BUT the other day, there was one already opened at Marshall's and it was ready for sniffing, and I was blown away! It was an immediate "I must have this!" Top notes are : orange flower, plum, peach, ylang ylang and ginger. Heart notes are : rare ginger lily,, tuberose, bluebell, iris. Base notes are : blackcurrant, sandalwood and vanilla. It's distinctive, but feminine, clean smelling and not at all heavy. Great for the office. I can't believe I've ignored this fragrance for so many years because I thought it was a cheapie. I still hate the cap though.

Best product ever for oily skin! I can't believe how much oil one sheet absorbs. I use one everyday around noontime and it makes a HUGE difference. I will never be without these sheets.

Great product. See my full review under Summer Hill Hand Therapy. I prefer the Summer Hill and Lavender fragrances to the La Source fragrance of citrus and herbs, but no matter what the scent, this product is the best.

Scrubs -Crabtree & Evelyn - La Source Hand Recovery

Amazing product for dry, rough hands. I received a sample of this and had to buy the full size tube the next day! I've always had a rough patch on my knuckles. It was gone for good in just two applications! You use this 3-4 times a week, or as needed. It contains oatmeal as an exfoliant and various oils to moisturize. You kneed it into your dry hands for 30 seconds, rinse with warm water and pat your hands dry. Then I follow up with the Hand Therapy Cream. My hands have never felt so soft! I can't recommend this one enough for rough hands. I do it before I go to sleep at night and at noon the next day, I still can't believe how good my hands are.

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Summer Hill Hand Therapy
rated 5 of 5
auntgooey 7/7/2002 7:10:00 PM

This is the best hand cream I've ever used, and I've tried most of them out there. It's thick (shea butter), but not greasy at all. My hands feel better immediately and stay in great shape for hours after applying. I also like the tube which squeezes like a toothpaste tube so you don't waste any of the cream. And the fragrance is beautiful. It's peach blossom, fressia, madonna lillies, wildflowers, tuberose and warm woods. It's not a sweet or heavy floral, it's fresh and light. And if your hands are really bad, use the Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Recovery before the lotion.
