Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear 408B Sherry Sparkle
rated 4 of 5
trisheee 12/5/2011 2:00:00 PM

I have a colleague whose makeup always looks perfect! I asked her what lip color she was wearing with her smokey eye that day, and she hemmed a hawed about how embarrassed she was to tell me...I had to pry it out of her that it was this Sherry Sparkle. Who cares that it was only $1.50?! I would have paid a lot more for it...it's that good, IMHO. I've always had a hard time finding, and wearing, lighter shimmery lipsticks but this one is absolutely gorgeous! Sherry Sparkle pulls my whole look together...it's not too dark or light but just right. I imagine this color would work well on most skin tones. I also find it wears well ( least a few hours) and fades out nicely. I don't even need a mirror to re-apply. If you're looking a classy, understated lip color for a steal check this one out.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Prime Pot
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 12/3/2011 11:42:00 AM

I was expecting to see a lot more good reviews for this product. It is, by far, the BEST primer I have ever used! It comes in two shades, "Taffy", a light, beigey pink, like painterly, and "Caramel", a light orangey brown (think Mac's soft brown or wedge eyeshadow). I opted for the color Taffy. Not only does this conceal every bit of discoloration on my eyelids, It also covers the crepeyness and makes my eyes look youthful again. Eyeshadow and liner looks so vibrant over this and it lasts until I take it off. Best of all NO creasing! Zero, nada, none...not on me, anyway. However, rather than oily eyelids mine are quite dry...and the prime pot doesn't highlight the dryness. Hallelujah! Prior to this I was alternating between UD Primer potion in Eden, Mac painterly paint pot and Tarte's lifting primer (and I thought nothing could be better than painterly) but this blows all of those of the water! The Stila prime pot is also truly waterproof. I have extremely sensitive eyes that are always tearing but this doesn’t make my eyes water. In fact, I was at the movies the other night crying like a big baby at the end and my eye makeup looked as fresh as just applied after my sob fest. Please note that you'll need to work quickly with this primer. The finish dries in a about 3 seconds once you start applying. It did take a little practice but once I mastered the application I was amazed at how well it performs! I even use it on my dark circles and any other imperfections and the coverage is outstanding!! Be sure to use a good cream first as it can be a little drying under the eyes. This stuff is holy Grail! About time someone made a primer that does it ALL!

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Glow Pearls - Beige Pearl 7041
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 11/27/2011 11:38:00 PM

Oh my, this is the highlighter I've been searching for! The sheen is absolutely gorgeous. I love that there's no glitter here, just glowy perfection. I don't have deep lines but I do have more mature skin and this powder gives me that youthful sheen and doesn't exacerbate the crepiness above my cheekbones. I was a little worried the color might be too light for my nw25 skin color but it's just perfect. I don't see any obvious color, just a warm, dewy glow. Would highly recommend and will definitely repurchase.

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in The Perfect Pink
rated 4 of 5
trisheee 11/27/2011 12:32:00 PM

I'm on my 2nd one. I found these last year at Ulta... in the mini size only, and have to say I really like this color. It's a very soft pink with more of a sheen than a shimmer. When I swipe my blush brush over the top of this blush and apply it as a highlighter on my cheek bones my face is transformed! It adds a serious, yet understated glow and dimension. It also works very well over powder blush by giving it extra staying power and a pretty pink pop. I've tried blending it with my fingers but an angled blush brush offers a far more blended look. I find this to be true with all cream blushes.

Foundations -Maybelline - New Instant Age Rewind
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 11/26/2011 12:26:00 PM

Can hundreds of excellent reviews be wrong? Talk about a HG concealer! The brightener shade surprised the heck out of me! Full coverage that doesn't look dry or sink into lines, isn't all shimmery, and lasts all day. This peachy pink product wakes up my eyes like nothing I've tried before...and I have tried most, if not all the other highly rated concealers. I'lI admit there are many that cover well but mature under eye skin needs a product that doesn't emphasize all the other issues we have going on. This one addresses them all and does so beautifully, IMHO. Try this and return it if it doesn't work for you. P.S. I also bought the medium shade and while it works very well too, nothing comes close to the brightener shade. For reference, I'm nw25 and it's not too light for me. I don't need any other concealer or powder over it. This one product does it all! In the past I've always switched up my concealer daily depending on how my circles look but now I only use this...everyday. I dab it on my clean finger, tap it under my eyes (don't forget the inner corners) then buff it in with a fluffy brush. Get ready for compliments on how great you look!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Excellence Creme
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 10/30/2011 1:21:00 PM

Edit 11-18-11: I can't get over how long this color has lasted! And NO brass! I'm just now starting to see a tiny bit of gray poke out at my temples. Nothing a little waterproof brown mascara (carefully applied) can't cover up. My hair is shiny and softer than it has been in years! I have also been using garnier shampoo for color treated hair, in the red bottle, and John freida Full Repair conditioner in the red tube. My HG combo! I was getting so frustrated by how all the other hair color brands were fading so quickly and damaging my hair. Even Preference wasn't working anymore. When I think of all the years i passed Excellence by thinking it was junk, I could cry! My hair loves this stuff! By the way, I'm referring to the excellence creme with pro keratin on the box...NOT the 10 minute one...Haven't tried that one. Original review below: I've lost count on the number of at home brands I've tried. Most have been just okay. I have medium brown hair with 25% gray and my issue has been finding a color that covers well and lasts more than a couple weeks without fading and turning brassy. I have finally found it in excellence, medium brown. I was alternating between preference and garnier nutrisse, which I liked initially, but it faded very quickly like the rest. Excellence, however, works beautifully on my coarse, wavy and somewhat dry hair. It's been 4 weeks and the color is still going strong. Grays are still covered. When I first colored with this I couldn't get over how silky my hair felt...and the shine...oh my! Not sure why I never gave this a try in the past but I'm thrilled I finally did! In fact, my stylist raved about the color and condition of my hair and was as surprised as I was about this gem. Do note that it did turn out darker than I was expecting for medium brown but that's okay with me. And the initial darker color does fade a bit (to the perfect color) with washing but not nearly as much as others I have tried. I'm loving this hair color!

Lipstick -NYX - Goddess
rated 4 of 5
trisheee 10/18/2011 9:39:00 PM

Thank you Starbuck65! This lipstick does indeed make a gorgeous blush! In fact, I purchased it expressly for that purpose after reading her review and blush suggestion...as I am also NW20-25. It's the perfect pinky brown and warms up my complexion beautifully. Too bad it doesn't do as well for my lips. I'd love to be able to wear more brown toned and nude lipsticks but every one I've tried, and I've tried a bazillion, makes me look like a corpse. But on the cheeks this is stunning and makes for a very classy and natural flush. LOVE IT!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 4/2/2011 1:52:00 PM

This is the foundation I always come back to. There are a few that I love and use in rotation but this one is a staple. IMHO it has all the best features of a perfect foundation. It covers beautifully, leaves a soft luminous finish, stays put until I take it off, has a 20 SPF, comes in a pump bottle, and the cool beige is a perfect match for me. What more could I want? Other reviewers aren't crazy about the "sparkles" but on me they're only visible in direct bright sunlight and extremely close up. In 99% of the lighting I'm usually in this foundation gives off a natural, soft "lit from within" glow...Something my eh, more mature skin needs.I stipple it on with a flat top brush or a damp sponge and the finish is flawless! My skin leans dry but I do exfoliate as I don't believe any brand of foundation looks good over dry patches...particularly this one. However, it feels very moisturizing, not dry and matte. I love it and will continue to keep buying as long as it's available.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Yes To Blueberries Daily Repairing Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
trisheee 2/12/2011 2:25:00 PM

Let me start by saying I have incredibly sensitive skin...especially around my eyes and most products cause some sort of irritation. So please do not discount this line on my review. I'm only relaying my experience. With that said, the am and pm moisturizer and serum caused serious redness and inflammation on my face and eyes. I absolutely LOVE the eye cream in this line ( see that review) but the other blueberry products didn't work for me. I still think they're worth a try if you don't have sensitive skin. I can't tell if it was something in the serum or the moisturizers that caused the irritation but I had to stop using them immediately...the reaction was so bad! I was excited by how well the eye cream worked after a month so I thought I'd try the serum, and moisturizer. SO NOT good for me. I still LOVE and use the eye cream with no problem! I do believe all the other products in the blueberry line will work beautifully for non sensitive skin and would highly recommend them! On a side note, If you've had sensitivity to other eye creams try this one! You'll be pleasantly surprised by how well it performs. Super hydrated ((not greasy) eyes that stay moist all day and night. My lines have softened dramatically and concealer goes on so much better! I love the eye cream and haven't found anything at any price that works better than Yes to Blueberries! Will repurchase as long as it's available.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Yes To Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment Cream
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 2/7/2011 12:07:00 PM

I'm always on the lookout for a good eye cream and this one beats every one I've tried at any price...hands down! It moisturizes incredibly well with no greasiness. My whole eye area stays beautifully hydrated all day with no reapplying necessary. I use this morning and night and can't believe the difference this has made at softening the fine lines and blurring the imperfections. Yes to blueberries is a new addition to the Yes to Carrots line but for aging skin. There is also a cleanser, a serum, a day and night cream, which I haven't tried yet, but plan to, and will update the review once I see how they perform. The eye cream, however, is truly amazing! In the 30 days I've been using it my eyes are lifted, super soft and feel like velvet. It's rare to find a cream that doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. No stinging and no irritation! I've never had much luck with "all natural" products but this one is a raving success! Oh, and concealer goes on like a dream! The only thing I haven't seen is improvement on my dark circles but it doesn't claim to do that...and I doubt anything will. Previously I was using L'oreal's genesis line, and I loved that but it started to irritate my eyes and cause a little swelling and I believe they're discontinuing or reformulating it. I'm thrilled to have found this blueberry eye cream and will continue to use it as my eyes are looking better and better everyday! The products in this line are affordable, too. I found mine at a drugstore. I think The cleanser is $9.99 while all the others are around $20... and all come with a generous amount. Not bad for an eye cream that blows all the others out of the water...IMHO. Edit 2-12-11: Still LOVE the eye cream! However, the other products in this line, serum, day and night cream, were too irritating for me. See full review. My face and particularly the skin around my eyes burned and became inflamed. I'm extremely sensitive too most products so please don't discount this line on my review. It's definitely worth a try if your skin isn't overly sensitive. I can't stress enough how incredible the eye cream performs. No sensitivity at all after using it for a little over a month and the lines/crepeyness have dramatically improved! 3/18/11-EDIT: I'm jumping for joy over the improvement in my whole eye area. I've been using this eye cream (morning and night) for a little over eight weeks and my lines are almost gone! The skin under my eyes and my eyelids are so much more smooth and hydrated...plumped and lifted. My eye makeup, shadow, liner and concealer look 100% better. I'm so thrilled to have finally found something that really works...and SO incredibly well! My girlfriends asked if I had filler and don't believe me when I tell them it's this cream that did the trick. Just purchased my second one so each container should last a couple of months. Not bad for $9.50 a month. Seriously good stuff!!

Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle
rated 4 of 5
trisheee 1/25/2011 2:04:00 PM

I'm such a foundation junkie! When I saw the new display my heart started racing and I knew before I picked it that it was going home with me! This foundation goes on beautifully with a stippling brush and really does diminish pore size and fine lines quite a bit. It leaves a smooth matte, velvety finish with medium coverage...but, buildable to full. The finish is almost too perfect..if that makes sense. I don't think this foundation would work too well on dry or flakey skin so be sure to exfoliate and moisturize well before using it. This has decent staying power, too. No need for powder. I've been using this for about a week and will update soon. It's not HG but so far, so good.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in #249 Vanity [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 1/24/2011 12:19:00 PM

Amazing! Almost 100% of all the reviewers would buy this again. That says a lot! This is my favorite colorIcon palette and the one I reach for over and over. My eyes are a light golden brown and this palette dresses them up beautifully! It looks very neutral in the pan...and it is, but also so much more! The middle matte shade is perfect for blending crease colors and the darkest matte shade deepens the outer V for amazing contour and definition. I can't say enough about this incredible palette and the endless color combinations and fun you can have with it. I have drawers full of high end eyeshadow colors and most of them can't hold a candle to these in terms of pigmentation and staying power! And for $5...are you kidding!? Check out all the ColorIcon palettes, especially Lust, but be sure to get Vanity. You'll be thrilled you did!

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Colour Rush Quad in Smoky Brun
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 1/13/2011 12:30:00 PM

This quad works really well dry but I agree with xenamarie... Try wetting these a little bit and the colors last for miles and really pop! I originally bought this quad for my 20 year daughter, on sale (75%0ff) at CVS, but decided to keep it for myself as it does magic on my light brown eyes! And I love that they're not too shimmery. The darkest color is the perfect brown, imho. So many times I've passed this quad by...always wanting to try it, but because of the negative reviews I'd always skip it. I'm SO glad I found this gem and will surely repurchase...if it doesn't get discontinued!

Treatments -L'Oreal - Age Perfect Pro-Calcium
rated 5 of 5
trisheee 12/8/2010 11:59:00 AM

I came back to this cream after trying countless other expensive "treatments" for my maturing skin. This is the only night and day cream I use anymore. For my skin, I don't feel there's anything available that can compete with this cream. Here's why: It softens my extremely dry, patchy skin without leaving it greasy, it evens out my skintone after a few weeks of continued use, it softened the crepey lines around my eyes, and makes my skin glow from within. It really does it all! I don't even need a separate eyecream anymore as this one does NOt irritate at all! I also use an otc retinol cream (Netrogena deep wrinkle) at night along with this L'oreal night cream at night and just this L'oreal day cream during the day. My skin has NEVER looked better! I love that I can pick this up at any drugstore and that it's a lot easier on the wallet. However, I'd gladly pay triple the price...it works that well!

Crème -Revlon - PhotoReady Compact Makeup
rated 1 of 5
trisheee 11/27/2010 12:51:00 PM

Awful!, IMO. I was so disappointed with this foundation! However, I really like the liquid Photo Ready and would rate that one fairly high. This is nothing like the liquid version in any way. The screen thingee is just too weird and the color match was all wrong...despite the fact that I use cool beige in the liquid version. Makes sense that the cream would be the same match but it's totally different. I purchased this at Ulta and they usually have testers but the SA told me that this product didn't. It's going straight back. Okay, now for how this foundation performs. IT DOESN'T! It streaks...despite that there is NO coverage, highlights every flaw, feels cakey and just kinda sits op top my skin and screams "I'm wearing too much foundation!" I would definitely recommend you try this in the store first before buying it. Maybe it'll work for others but it was a serious waste of time and $$ for me!
