Lip Liners -Lancome - Le Lipstique Lippencil- Charme

I love this Lip Pencil!! This is the color I WISH my lips would look: its a natural color, just *slightly* more peachier than the real color of my lips. I love using it with one of my favorite lipglosses: Neutrogena Chic. Glides on soft and creamy but I dont use the brush on the end. I wish it was cheaper but the color is so fabulous that I dont mind eating the $20 price for once.

Moisturizers -Decleor - Hydra Floral Hydrating Comfort Cream
rated 4 of 5
thehepburn 10/23/2004 1:46:00 PM

This is a great daytime moisturizer for my dry with T-zone skin. The cream is more like a lotion; its not very thick at all. Decleor recommends this for all skin types but people sensitive to plant oils should stay away. I think it's an ordinary moisturizer but I might buy it again for the smell alone. Smells fresh and soft. This moisturizer comes in a tube which is always nicer than dipping your hand into a jar. $48 for 1.69oz (50ml)

Ingredients: 10% Mint and Orange Blossom Aromatic waters. 10% Original Orange Water the liquid constituent of the orange (rich in trace elements and minerals) 2% Extract of codium (marine algae) 2% Hazelnut plant oil

Lips -Lord & Berry - Ultimate Lipliners

These are a little harder to find at the drugstores but some of the best drugstore lipliners available. Very creamy texture which goes on smoothly. Only negative is the the pencil is squared so its hard to sharpen but certainly not impossible. I have Toasty and Nut and plan to get more.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lipgloss in smashing star
rated 3 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 2:28:00 PM

Star is a slightly whitish clear gloss with silver shimmer. Good shine and long lasting like most Smashbox glosses. However, I can get the same effect with either Revlon Shine City or Revlon Sunsplash.

Will not rebuy. I have not been impressed at all with the Smashbox lipglosses. $15 for .15oz sponge tip wand lipgloss in a small square tube

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lip Gloss in Smashing Blaze
rated 3 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 2:21:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, beautiful shine

CONS: Wow! Talk about misleading! This looks like a bright orange red in the tube but it glides on as a very sheer pinky red. One of the few Smashbox l/g that looks good by itself on my lips but I can get the same effect with Revlon. I have not been impressed at all with the Smashbox lipglosses. There are plenty of drugstore lipglosses better than this: Revlon Super Lustrous, Rimmel, Jordana, Jane Attitubes

rated 1 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 2:14:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, very pigmented

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy. This looks bubble gum pink in the tube but is really whitish opaque pink on the lips. Too like for my C4 complexion and cannot believe how whitish it looks. Will not rebuy.I have not been impressed at all with the Smashbox lipglosses. Lip Gloss -Smashbox - smashbox 'layout' mini gloss set
rated 1 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 12:58:00 PM

I couldnt resist getting this from QVC but couldnt believe the size of the tubes. They are much smaller than even the GWP lipglosses that you might get from Lancome or Clinique! They are like minature lipglosses with tiny wands. It wouldnt matter that much if I liked the actual lipglosses but I didnt. Most of them had a weird old lipstick smell and most of the colors were very common and can be found in any drugstore line or had way too much frost when I wanted shimmer. I am definitely returning this and will probably never be tempted to buy another Smashbox item again since in my opinion, it's hard to mess up a simple product like lipgloss.

thehepburn 10/16/2004 12:50:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, very pigmented

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy. I love shimmery lipgloss but not frosty ones and Candid is definitely frosty, kind of cheap-looking. It's a pale frosty rose pink. Will not rebuy.I have not been impressed at all with the Smashbox lipglosses. There are plenty of drugstore lipglosses better than this: Revlon Super Lustrous, Rimmel, Jordana, Jane Attitubes

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Smashing Fire
rated 5 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 12:44:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, beautiful shine

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy. Fire looking like a dark brownish red in the tube but this is one of the sheerest of the Smashbox lipglosses which are usually very pigmented. On my lips, it goes on as a beautiful shiny berry color with no shimmer. It's lovely but I can get almost the same effect with other cheaper lipglosses.

PROS: long-lasting, very pigmented

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy.I love shimmery lipgloss but dont like blinding FROSTy ones. Desire is frosty. It looks pale pinky beige in the tube but on my lips, its an ugly whitish frost color. Very cheap-looking.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lipgloss in Mystery
rated 4 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 12:33:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, very pigmented

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy. This is my favorite of all the Smashbox lipglosses which is damning with faint praise since I didnt like any of the others. Mystery is a medium caramel brown, rather opaque looking, which I like.

rated 2 of 5
thehepburn 10/16/2004 12:26:00 PM

PROS: long-lasting, very pigmented

CONS: It smelled like old lipstick to me, kind of dusty or waxy. Also, Blur is a rose color that was a little too blue for my C4 complexion. Will not rebuy.

Lip Liners -Sephora - Slim Lip Pencil - #115
rated 5 of 5
thehepburn 10/13/2004 11:56:00 AM

I spent an hour in Sephora trying to find a match to my highly pigmented lips. The SA recommended Sephora's and they have a huge range of colors and even better, they were the cheapest l/l there @ $4.00 (I do have to point out that they are also about 40% shorter than practically any other brand's lip pencil but its still a bargain especially considering that its nice and creamy, doesnt tug on the lips, and there are testers available unlike drugstore brands. #115 is a slightly purplish nude color, not as brown as something like Chanel's Nude Lip Pencil, for example. It's pretty much an exact shade for my lips so I am very happy.

Cleansers -Eve Lom - Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
thehepburn 10/5/2004 3:27:00 PM

I picked up a bunch of cleansing balms while I was in London: Eve Lom, 2 different Boots balms, and the Sanctuary (see my reviews of the other cleansing balms).

Like cold cream, you scoop the balm out of the jar and rub it on your makeup. The balm looks solid in the jar but melt when in contact with the warmth of your skin. I found the EL Cleansing Cream had a slightly harder consistency than the Boots Cleansing Balms. It cleaned very well and my usually dry skin felt more emollient after I used the EL than after I used the Boots but these are all slight differences and bottom-line, the EL isn't five times better than the Boots Cleansing Balm as prices reflect. As for the smell which some people might not like, I rather liked it but then again, I use a lot of products with essential oils and am used to it.

42.00 British Sterling (=$77 US Dollars) for 100ml white jar (3.3oz)

Ingredients: paraffinum liquidum (mineral oil), cetearyl alcohol, PEG-30 lanolin, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, aluminum stearate, theobroma cacao (cocoa butter), PEG-75 lanolin, chamomilla recutita (chamomile oil), eugenia caryophyllus (clove oil), ecucalyptus gloculus (ecucalyptus oil), humulus lupulus (hops oil), phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben, p-chloro-m-cresol
