Blush -Unlisted Brand - Margaret Astor perfect blush 06 shiny brown
rated 5 of 5

This was a really random purchase on ebay, when I became desperate in finding a bronzer that wouldn't turn orange on me! It only cost £1 plus postage, so it was very cheap, at the moment I just can't afford to pay £20+ for a high end bronzer. I decided to look for a brown toned blush instead, this is perfect. Not orange, but not cool toned either (ie a completly neutral brown) which works so well with my skin tone. I imagine that it would work well as a contour colour too. The little pot is very small, about the size of an eyeshadow container, but it is so pigmented that you only need a tiny amount. Hopefully I will still continue to be able to buy it in future, as I have never seen it in any shops, only online. I can't imagine being without it!

Moisturizers -Weleda - Almond Soothing Facial Lotion
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 2/22/2010 4:27:00 PM

I love this cream in the daytime, under make-up, I find that it makes mineral m/u in particular go on really well. I use this in conjunction with the almond cleansing lotion, which works so well for my sensitive skin. If I need a little more moisture then I use a drop or two of the Almond oil, especially at night, for a more intense texture.

Cleansers -Weleda - Almond Cleansing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 2/22/2010 4:24:00 PM

I have come back to this lotion, paired with the moisture cream from the same Almond line, after several months of experimentation with other products. I love the fact that it is simple, unscented, gentle and kind to my skin, whilst still cleansing enough for all my make-up to be removed. I do use a seperate eye m/u remover though, infact the Almond oil works well for this purpose. It is easily available, not to pricey, especially compared to ranges such as Dr. Hauschka (Weleda's formulations actually are more effective for my sensitive skin) I paid around £8 for this online. I like the pink, metal tube packaging which can easily be cut open to get all of the cleanser out.

Primer/ Corrector -Boots - No7 Shine Free Make-Up Base
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/26/2010 2:53:00 PM

I was hesitant about trying this product, as the reviews seem to be that you either love it or hate it. But, I must say that overall I really like this primer. I haven't used many other primers in the past, but I have been really impressed with this one. Like other previous reviewers have mentioned, I can see how you might experience difficulties with application, but after a few uses I think that the main things to consider are: firstly I didn't rub the product on my face, just gently tapped and pressed it onto the skin, secondly only apply it onto oily areas, as otherwise it could create a dry texture. I also make sure that my face is well exfoliated and moisturised before hand. I found that my foundation was easy to apply over the top and the primer didn't effect the colour or texture of it in any way. Usually my make-up lasts for about 6-7hrs maximum, but with this under I found that my foundation still appeared smooth and oil free even after 10hrs +, which considering the trouble I have had trying to control the oil on my face, is a small miracle! (for reference I used it with mineral foundation and then topped with Ben Nye neutral set powder, which is another must have for oil control)

Lipstick -Boots - No 7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Classic Rose
rated 3 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/26/2010 9:02:00 AM

To me this is the kind of pink, that I already have alot of, its akind of run-of-the-mill neutral toned, dusky pink. So if you are looking for something a bit different then this isn't it, but it is wearable if a little garish on my warm, pale skintone. I agree with the previous reviewer, in that it isn't particularly long lasting and it can also be a little drying, so I probably won't repurchase.

Lipstick -Boots - No7 in "Grace" - 35
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/26/2010 8:57:00 AM

I was very uncertain about buying this, because in the tube and swatched on the back of my hand it looked kind of dark, a very muddy colour, but I had a £5 boots voucher, so decided to risk it. When I tried it, I patted it on with my finger, which creates the most beautiful stain life effect. It can be very subtle or much deeper, depending on application, but I prefer to keep it looking more natural. It reminds me of a redder/less pink version of Stila Natalie, infact it is the colour I had hoped that Natalie would be! Very flattering, elegant and totally wearable. The formula is sheer, yet long lasting, with classic slimline black and gold packaging.

Lipstick -Boots - No 7 Stay Perfect - Bare
rated 4 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/19/2010 4:20:00 PM

This has become my daily wear, go to lipstick for a natural look. It is a pinky brown colour with fairly neutral undertones and suits my skintone in both summer and winter. This colour is very different from the Bare shade in the 'moisture drench' range, I found that to be a much browner, less wearable lipstick. It is not very long lasting, maybe 2-3 without touch ups, so I knocked a lippie off for the fact that it is supposed to last much longer. I like the sleek black/gold, slimline packaging and will repurchase again.

Blush -Unlisted Brand - BeautyUK blusher
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/19/2010 4:04:00 PM

I cannot rate this product highly enough! I came across this relatively cheap brand at my local drugstore and after swatching the products was amazed at the quality. The blushes are very pigmented and the texture is soft and silky. I like the shades, 02 which is a deep, snow white warm toned red, 03- which is more of a peachy red and 04 which looks unwearable in the pan, but is a great warm brown, that works great as a bronzer for pale skinned faces. They only cost a couple of pounds each and are nearly just as effective on my skin as my Nars and Mac blushes at a fraction of the cost. True they only have 6 shades, but I still really recommend them.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - avocado hair treatment
rated 3 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/19/2010 3:59:00 PM

Overall, I like the effect that this has on my dry, fine and curly hair. It moisturizes without being greasy and doesn't weigh down my hair either. The only reason I have marked it down, is because it seems so expensive, even though it lasts a while, I find that I have almost exactly the same results if I use plain olive oil/almond oil blend for a fraction of the price.

Masks -Freeman - Facial Enzyme Mask Pineapple
rated 4 of 5
tealeafdoll 1/19/2010 3:56:00 PM

I find this to be a good, gently exfoliating mask for my sensitive skin. I have actually been using it as a daily cleanser, aswell as a 10min leave on treatment aswell, which actually works suprisingly well! It is very mild, I barely noticed a difference in my skin after using it once a week, but everyday, it works as a very gentle exfoliant. The smell reminds me of Mychelle Fruit enzyme products, before they were reformulated, a very sweet pineapple. Its a lovely thick, gel-like consistancy, which is easy to spread and doesn't drip whilst on the face. Overall, considering the cheap price, I would recommend it.

Blush -Stila - Poppy Convertible Color
rated 2 of 5
tealeafdoll 12/16/2009 9:32:00 AM

I really wanted to like this product, I had to hunt around to find it aswell, as Stila has been discontinued in the UK. I was so excited to try it out and was really disapointed, as I had expected a red shade, but this instead turned a garish fushia on me. It is not what I had imagined at all, overall if I were to use it again then I would probably have to blend it with another product to achieve the results that I am after. On the plus side, it is very pigmented, will last a long time and has very sweet, (if tricky to open) packaging.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Birthday Suit
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 11/26/2009 3:08:00 PM

I originally swatched this and thought that it was too shimmery/metallic, but then gave it another chance and I am so glad that I did! It is such a wearable, warm toned nude, with very subtle shimmer, that on my lips is barely noticeable. The packaging is a bit on the plain side, but as the product itself is so great I'm not too bothered. I love the fact that it is long wearing, but doesn't dry the lips out. I think that the lasting finish range is one of the best drugstore lipsticks you can buy and I'll def. be checking out the other colours in the range.

Cleansers -Mir - Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 10/21/2009 1:48:00 PM

I love the entire Mir range, but it is SO expensive! I tried to find other products that would replicate them for a cheaper price, but alas no luck. So I now just make sure that I don't buy any other skincare and budget, so that I can afford them! When you find a range that works for you then you are willing to pay almost anything for it, especially when you have tried so many other products with little or no results. I realise now that rather than buying 3 or 4 cheaper products, I should buy just the one Mir product for the same price. My skin is sensitive, dry and very acne/clog prone, but since using Mir I no longer have to worry about trying to balance out moisturising/acne treatments (ie they used to either break me out or dry me out!) but Mir, has brought real harmony to my skin. Love it. HG

Loose Powders -Ben Nye - Neutral Set translucent powder
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 10/1/2009 3:13:00 PM

This powder is AM-AZ-ING! I have had problems controlling my everyday oiliness, which has really been a pain, as foundation only lasted about 4/5 hrs before creasing etc. This powder keeps my skin matte for at least 8 hrs+, which is a small miracle for my skin. Packaging isn't pretty, but I just pour some into an old lid and then use my brush/velour puff to apply. Doesn't dry my skin out and never effects the color of my other make-up, goes on transparent. It is totally water resistant, sweat and tear proof! I paid £9 inc. P&P which for the amount and quality is very good, overall I would highly recommend this, def. HG powder! UPDATE: I just have to say how much I am loving this powder, even on bad skin days, after applying this my face looks so much better. Really refined and smooth. Great stuff!

Eye Shadow -Boots - 17 Eyeshadow (singles)
rated 5 of 5
tealeafdoll 8/29/2009 8:59:00 AM

I have to say that I haven't had much luch with lower end, drugstore eyeshadows in the past. But the no17 eyeshadows are a real exception, the pigmentation is amazing quality, they last ages when used with a primer and there is a fantastic range of colours too. I like Statuesque which is a multi-dimensional purpley gold, really beautiful with hazel eyes. Overall they are a real winner with me and will def. be buying more in the future!
