Lip Gloss -MAC - Astral - Cremesheen Glass
starrysim 9/4/2012 9:28:00 PM
Astral Cremesheen Glass was released with Heavenly Creature in Summer 2012. It was a great collection, and this was one of the stand-out products for me. It's THE MOST GORGEOUS COLOUR in the whole world. Seriously. It's a bright, vibrant watermelon pink with subtle shimmer. It's really really stunning. On the lips it's not quite as mind-blowing as when you see the colour saturated in the glass tube, but it's still super pretty on my lips. I would call it medium coverage - not opaque, but not sheer either. The formula is typical cremesheen glass - not sticky at all, and very moisturizing. This is one of my fave products from MAC this year.

Lipstick -MAC - Venus
starrysim 9/4/2012 9:23:00 PM
Venus has quickly become one of my go-to lipsticks. It's incredibly comfortable and non-drying, wears long, and the shade is a mid-tone pink that's perfect for everyday. It's not a wow colour, but it is very pretty and not boring at all. It does have very slight frost, but I wouldn't call it a frosty lipstick - it's just not matte or flat. I think I need to get my paws on a back-up of this one.

Highlighters -MAC - Star Wonder
starrysim 9/4/2012 9:20:00 PM
I own lots of MSF's, but Star Wonder is totally unique. It's a swirl of a deep purply pink with coral and champagne. It's also very fine and smooth, not chunky of glittery. It is very shimmery though, about as shimmery as MSF's get. Very pretty colour though, and I like that it's unlike any other MSF. I'm NW20 and I use it as a blush - it's too pigmented to be a highlighter. I'm really glad I picked it up, and have been using it quite a bit this summer.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Platinum Smokey Eye Brush #24
starrysim 8/9/2012 9:37:00 PM
I bought this brush expecting it to work as the MAC 219 - to apply shadow on the lower lashline. It doesn't really work for my purpose. It's so stiff and has such a sharp point, it's like trying to apply eyeshadow with a toothpick. However, it is a very well-built brush, I just need to find a good use for it.

Eyes -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Cream 13
starrysim 8/9/2012 9:35:00 PM
I guess I'm in the minority, but I didn't like this product. It applies very patchy and is hard to blend. I have a Shiseido Hydro Powder eyeshadow in a very similar shade, and that one is a dream to work with. Very disappointed, and would not try any more Aqua Creams after this.

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo
starrysim 8/9/2012 9:33:00 PM
This shampoo really dries out my hair, even though I only used it every 2 weeks or so. The smell is strong and medicine-like. I didn't really notice an improvement in my hair, so I don't think I will continue using it.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Good to Go! The Fastest Drying Top Coat
starrysim 8/9/2012 9:30:00 PM
I'm really impressed with this top coat. It gives an amazing high shine finish, and really does prolong the wear of my polish. It's not as fast drying as Seche Vite, but it's a lot better because it doesn't cause shrinkage and is more long-wearing. My only complaint is that it does strip off colour, and deposits it back in the bottle, just like SV. However, I really love it and will re-purchase. Edit 10/26/12 - This stuff is a MIRACLE. I've been wearing a dark burgundy on my nails for 6 days straight, with only two teeny tiny chips. Like seriously teeny tiny. My nails look freshly done. I've never been able to wear dark colour for more than 2 days, and tomorrow will be one whole week. I also really appreciate that it fixes any imperfections, like smudges, streaks, etc. Once I ended up with seriously bad sheet marks on my polish, I didn't use any top coat. I applied this the next day, and boom, perfect shiny glassy polish, no more sheet marks. I seriously can't imagine any better than this, this top coat does everything. Here's a pic of my 7-day manicure finished with Good To Go, still going strong. http://img.makeupalley.com/5/9/8/5/2336390.JPG

Foundations -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One
starrysim 8/9/2012 9:25:00 PM
I actually bought this BB cream after trying a small sample packet. I like the colour match for my NW20 skintone (I use Light-Medium), and I like that it's easy to apply and looks very natural. My only complaint is that it's a little oily. I need to top it with powder, or else it just feels too sticky. I think it might work better for me in the winter when my skin is drier. As it is, I wouldn't re-purchase, though.

Eyeliner -MAC - Dsquared² Greasepaint Stick in B
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:32:00 PM
I wanted to see the hype over greasepaint sticks, and I have to say I don't get it. I found no use for this product. I couldn't use it as a liner because it was too thick, messy and applied unevenly. As far as a shadow - well, I have no use for a dark shimmery tar-like shadow. Maybe it works for the teen goths, but not for me.

Highlighters -MAC - by candlelight
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:30:00 PM
I love MSF's, so I own this. But really, I rarely use it and I think of it as a typical champagne shimmery highlight. It's nothing that other highlighters won't do, and it's not very versatile because it can't be used as a blush nor an all-over powder. It's not a bad product, it's just redundant in my large stash.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Redhead Degradé
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:28:00 PM
I'm NW20, and I use Redhead as a summertime blush with bronzey looks. It's super shimmery, so if that's not your thing, then stay away.

Treatments (Eye) -Biotherm - Hydra-detox Yeux
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:27:00 PM
This eye cream is nothing special. You'll like it if you're looking for something very light, gel-like and slightly cooling for the summer. It's not particularly moisturizing, and I don't think it did anything to improve under eye darkness. It's forgettable, I wouldn't repurchase.

Loose Powders -MAC - Select Sheer Loose Powder
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:24:00 PM
I don't like loose powders in general, and this is one of the products that taught me that. It's a pain in the butt to use - the powder flies everywhere, and it's hard to apply evenly. There are way too many holes, and powder gets sifted out even if you try your best to not turn it upside down. And if you do turn it upside down, then all hell breaks loose. It's just not worth the bother.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - Milk
starrysim 8/4/2012 11:21:00 PM
I don't get Milk. I just didn't find a use for it at all. I hated using it as a base - it applied streaky and uneven and unnatural, even though my skintone is fairly light (NW20). It's also too stark and unnatural as an inner corner highlight. I just don't see a use for it at all, I don't get the hype.
