Lip Gloss -mark - Glow Baby Glow Hook-Up Lip Gloss

These are great little glosses with shine or sparkles depending on what you are looking for. Nice varieties in color, decent price. I picked up a mini-multi pack a year or so ago with colors ranging from subtle to sultry (I think there were 6 or so colors) and I am still using these up both color on my lips alone and layered over other lipsticks. Scent is subtle and pleasant. Non of these have really struck me as a must-have color but they are nice enough glosses that I would pick some up again.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Dream Angels Divine
rated 4 of 5

I got this in the mini cofferet set awhile back and had set it aside as I had my "favorites" and this wasn't one of them. Since I am trying to curb my perfume collection habit :) I am trying to use stuff up and recently pulled this one out as my next in line. The more I use it, the more I like it. Heavenly is still prob. my favorite of the Angels line but this is growing on me, it has a bit more "kick" to it while still being soft. My perfume-picky boyfriend hasn't made any comments about this one -he is quick to point out which ones he doesn't like. Scent lasts for quite awhile. I wear this to work as a "little something" isn't too strong. If this were to go on sale (and I use up a few more other bottles of perfume :) I would buy this again and in a larger size.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Georgia ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

This one is kind of hit or miss with me as with a lot of BeneFit products. A bit over-priced as their usual. This one really depends on the seasons- doesn't look right in the summer when I have a tan- shows up a definite peach and looks too powdery when I am at my palest in the winter. Spring and fall when I have a bit of color seems to work best. I use this as an all-over face powder. Scent is light and nice, included brush is junk. Keeps shine at bay pretty well. I have had this for a couple of years and although I don't use it daily, I still have plenty left- lasts a long time which is a BeneFit :)

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion

Not a huge fan. I got this for free from someone who didn't care for it and it doesn't do much for me either. I use this as an all-over face powder. Not much color on me so it does a fine job at simply keeping shine at bay, scent is light and not-offensive, have had this nearly 2 years although I don't use it often- there is plenty left- I skip the included brush as it "cakes" on the powder when I use it- instead I use a fluffy face brush and knock off excess first to lightly dust on when my make-up is finished. I wouldn't bother re-purchasing and def. would not pay full price for this. I adore other BeneFit products, just not this little dandy (lion :)

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 5 of 5
skruger 3/30/2007 1:26:00 PM

This is my tried and true stand-by. I have pretty long lashes and this one stays true to it's name out of any mascara I have tried. Stays on almost all day (I re-do makeup anyway if going out after work). The thing noticeable with this is that lashes really do stay soft after application and don't get stuck together when applied. Comes off when washing my face and doesn't leave residue or streaks behind on my cheeks. Wand is really good at separating lashes while applying. I came across this years ago while stopping by a K-Mart on vacation and spotting it in the check-out lane. Have probably purchased 5X since then, I try something new on and off but come back to this one. Price is decent for something that gets tossed every few months anyway. Packaging could be better, printing usually comes off after awhile but that's about the time I know it's due for a new one anyway.

Mascara -Rimmel - Extra Super Lash mascara
rated 3 of 5
skruger 3/30/2007 1:20:00 PM

Ehh... so-so. It's mascara. Nothing special. After trying out various mascaras (although nothing beyond the $10 range) I have decided that my stand-by, Maybelline Full n' Lush still suits me the best but honestly, I don't see much difference with any claiming to have wonderful effects. On a cheap day, I decided to give this a whirl. The wand sucks. I actually cleaned off the wand from one of my Full n' Lush ones to be tossed and threw the Rimmel wand away- works a lot better, no clumping now. Makes me wonder if it is really the mascara wands that make the difference. Looks like I'll be going back to Maybelline after this- I'll finish it but not re-purchase.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Beautiful
rated 3 of 5
skruger 3/30/2007 10:57:00 AM

I got this a couple of years ago after smelling an ad in a magazine and commenting to my dad how much I liked it- Christmas gift!!!!! I actually took the bottle back right away because I thought it was so overpowering and felt that it may be skunkend/old... bottle was replaced no problems at a different store of the same chain but the smell was the same so I figured it was one of those ads smell different then product flukes... I wore it for awhile and the compliments I received were from older gentlemen (I am in my 20's) and I put it away after a little while because while the staying power was great- it was TOO much- one half of a baby spray would keep me gagging three hours later... have since found perfumes I enjoy much more and work better with my chemistry, have put this in the "don't wear anymore" collection but perhaps I'll pull it out for one more go before deciding to toss.

Mascara -mark - Comb Out Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
skruger 3/30/2007 9:34:00 AM

I got this for free when I was a short-lived Avon rep and am glad I didn't pay for it. None of the Avon or Mark mascaras have impressed me and this one didn't change my opinion. It is goopy and the brush is hard to use, doesn't spread evenly on lashes. Will stick with Maybellene!

Crème -mark - Speedway Do Everything Foundation Stick

Perhaps I have been spoiled by Benefit's "Playsticks" but this porduct was terrible. After using the Playsticks for a year or so and going through about 3 of them, I was in search of another product because they were getting pricy at $30 a pop. When I saw these in a Magalog I was excited to try but never got around to it until they were discontinued. Eventually I saw them in a clearance Avon book and decided to give them a go. I must say, for the full price, these tubes are super small, about a 3rd of the size of the Playstick. I assumed these would act the same and smooth onto my skin into a velvety medium coverage finish- no- whenever I use this, it just kind of sits on my skin in a greasy finish, wherever there is dry skin it makes it look even worse!!! Was quite disapointed and glad I got this on sale, can see why discontinued. I purchased Skin 3 and 4. One is still unopened, the other in my purse for emergencies... For now I have been using Avon Dewey Souflee foundation all over and Benefit Playstick as a concealer.

Lip Gloss -mark - Glossblossom Ripening Lip Tint
rated 4 of 5
skruger 3/30/2007 9:11:00 AM

This is a nice gloss. The color on me changes to a pleasant not too fake or shiny pink. Doesn't stay on too long but most lip porducts don't on me. Smell is nice and not over-powering. Would buy again if I need a new gloss (which at the moment won't be any time soon!). Good job Mark.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - temptations 3 in 1 in Wickedly Hot Chocolate
rated 4 of 5
skruger 12/7/2006 9:08:00 AM

I got a $12.50 free product coupon in the mail and picked this up when I was at BBW- smells fantastic, I wanted to use it to go with my "chocolat-y" smelling perfumes instead of a floral fragranced body wash/shampoo. To bad they don't have a conditioner to match. Haven't tried as a bubble bath. I use this as a body wash, works fine, the suds do come off tinted brown though as another review mentioned. I don't think this really scents my skin after I leave the shower but it smells great as I use it. More than I would pay for a body wash but it's nice to have a little indulgence once in awhile. As a shampoo, I tend to wash twice with this because it doesn't remove build-up very well.

Fragrances -Lucky Brand - Lucky You
rated 4 of 5
skruger 11/22/2006 9:38:00 AM

I agree with many that this used to be one of my staples and I stashed it away for awhile and now I am 'over it' and just trying to use it up. I would not re-purchase but I was really excited when I first received this and again, wore it all of the time so it gets lippies for that as well as the staying power (can last all day). For me, it can be a bit overpowering no matter how little I use and after a few hours I just want the scent 'gone' but like I said, it lasts! Perhaps my body chem. has grown up a bit/altered as well (I am now 24) but it just doesn't work for me anymore. I suppose I will miss it when it is gone but will have fond memories of it...

Styling Products -Victoria's Secret - So Sexy Styling Mousse
rated 4 of 5
skruger 11/13/2006 9:37:00 AM

Not ready to shell out the $9.00 for a full sized product I had never tried, I went with the $4.00 travel version. I think this is a great product. I am not very versed on mousses but I have been pleased overall, the scent is fabulous, the texture is nice and rich, goes through hair nicely. I use this when I am traveling and don't have the room to take 10 different products. My hair is fairly short in the back and I spray a bit in my palms then work through my hair after blow drying to give it a volumized, piecy look. Works great, lasts quite awhile. Occasionally, I'll feel an area after it has dried that is "hard" or "crunchy" but what mousse doesn't do that- one that has staying power at any rate? Would opt for the full size next time.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
rated 3 of 5
skruger 11/13/2006 9:26:00 AM

I can't explain how excited I was to get this curler and I really WANT to like it. I purchased it off of the internet and couldn't wait for its arrival after reading all of the wonderful reviews on M.A. I have been blessed to have full, long eyelashes but wanted to get even more "oomph." I have been using an el-cheapo "La Cross" curler (and various other cheap curlers in the past) with decent results minus the occasional lash stuck in the curler or "kink" when I wasn't paying attention to how I curled. After discovering the wonders of using quality makeup brushes over cheap ones, I figured I would be just as pleased with a "quality" curler. I must admit that I have only had this about a week and am still getting used to it but I have managed to pinch my lids nearly every time with this and the curl is still nearly as "straight upward" drastic as my other curlers. Again, I don't know if I am being fair as I would like to continue to "play" with this until I get the pressure/angle etc... down but I have been a bit disappointed thus far. I will say that the curl STAYS much longer than I have gotten from any other curler. I hope to post an enthusiastic update soon. The actual product looks great (I went with the black nickel version) and seems to be of very high quality. The price kind of bites but I think it would last much longer than the MFG states. I can't say right now if I would or wouldn't purchase this again but I only get to list one or the other! :)

Eyes -Wet 'n' Wild - Eye Shadow in Cream
rated 4 of 5
skruger 10/30/2006 8:49:00 AM

Like everyone else, purchased this as a highlighter. Blends well but tends to wear off easily. Even though this is a pretty nuetral color, it doesn't suit my warm/beige/caucasion skin. Still use this for casual days, not one of my "going out" colors. Will continue to use until gone but wouldn't bother re-purchasing.
