Cleansers -Ella Bache - Lait Enrichi Requin
shirfene 4/7/2004 10:30:00 AM

AU$59, 200ml
Seriously, this is just Cetaphil. Not a bad cleanser but nothing to rave about either. I like Lait Exotique better, might not smell good but worked better on my combo skin. I wanna write more about this product, but I really don't know what else I can say. yes...it's really only a bottle of Cetaphil.

Treatments -Orlane - Anti-Fatigue Absolute Recovery Serum
shirfene 4/7/2004 10:20:00 AM

I loveeeeee this serum soooooo much but i hate the price as much. Such a nice treatment to calm my skin when it's stressed. It isn't something like the dodgy Estee Lauder Idealist, coating your skin with some slippery silicone. it's a supa dupa excellent serum. After using it for a week, my skin appears to be 'healthier', no more tightness, no more dehydration, and believe it or not, less breakouts!!! I love the light texture too, sinks into skin nicely. I only use it alone without applying any cream on top of it, still, it works wonderfully! The only drawback --- the price!!!!! Bought this off strawberrynet, AU$100 man!!!!! only 30ml...checked its website, the rrp is US$135, can't complain, can I? *sigh*
I always thought Orlane is for older women, falling in the same group with Juvena, Guerlain and all, not for my age (23yo). However, I'm glad that I made the first move, happy with my first Orlane product, and will continue to discover the range.

Shampoo -Sebastian - Laminates Shampoo Moisturising Cleanser
shirfene 4/5/2004 5:13:00 AM

For the price I paid, I have very high expectations. Without trying any samples of Sebastian, I bought 4 products at impulse: Perfect Potion, Stark Naked, Laminate shampoo, Slinky conditioner. Now I realised BIG MONEY not necessarily equals to HIGH QUALITY. I've only tried Laminates shampoo so far (didn't really like it), will write reviews on others shortly.
It isn't a bad shampoo, at least far better than the Tigi Oatmeal and Honey (bah). It's an anti-frizz shampoo that produce rich lather, I'd say good for those who have oilier scalp but dry ends. Not impressed, an ordinary shampoo is all I can say, not worth the price tag. I shouldn't have splurge at impulse *sobbing*

Lotions/ Creams -Jurlique - Rose/Lavender Hand Cream
shirfene 4/4/2004 7:13:00 AM

I hated this handcream when I first tried it at a Jurlique counter. I thought it was soooo greasy and I didn't understand what was the rave about. Few months later, saw it being highly recommended in a TV show, I've decided to give it another go. Bought it off fountaincosmetics at around AU$20 for 40ml tube.
YES, ugly packaging indeed. However, I finally know the technique to make this cream work. Never ever apply more than a 5 cents coin, tiny amount is all you need to avoid the greasiness. Such an ultra THICK handcream! I don't really have dry hands, but it protects prevents them from getting dry. Starting to like this product now *wink*. I have it in ROSE, smells really nice. Kinda pricey but a little goes a long long way.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Essential Cleansing Solution
shirfene 4/2/2004 9:12:00 AM
I dislike this cleanser, it got into my eyes and stung them. Not much difference as compare to the Ultracalming cleanser, just that a little thicker (guess thats why it left a bit of film). It's not a VERY expensive cleanser, but why pay more if Cetaphil can be as good? It doesn't really take off make-up completely. I would not recommend this product to anyone, not only because it got into my eyes, but also I really don't find it cleanses my combo-dry skin well, not even during drier winter periods. So, yes, get a bottle Cetaphil and a separate makeup remover instead.

Tinted Moisturizer -Ultraceuticals - Antioxidant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30- Tinted
shirfene 4/2/2004 5:55:00 AM
What a big disappointment! I love the untinted version sooo much (my HG, one of the best sunscreens available) for being light and non-greasy. I was excited when this tinted one first came out, thought it would be as good, but sadly, NO. I don't understand why is this a little greasier than the original one, making my face shines all day.
There's only one shade available - 'self adjusting colour'. I assume it would suits most skin tones, no coverage at all, however. I reckon it's something like Clinique Super City Block SPF25, slightly tinted but provides no coverage. Not recommended, will stick to the original untinted one.

Masks -Origins - Clear Improvement
shirfene 3/25/2004 8:57:00 AM

I like this deep cleansing mask. It dries up pretty quickly straight after you apply it, leave it on, say 5 minutes, it's ready to be rinsed. Only a very thin layer will do, so the last tube could last ages I think. I don't find it helpful in diminishing blackheads but it does clear breakouts and tighten pores. Well, my skin did go red after the treatment but it is one of the few deep cleansing masks that do not dried out my skin while purifying. Thumbs up.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes - Cerise
shirfene 3/20/2004 10:35:00 AM

Whats wrong with me? I'm starting to collect Juicy Tubes! I thought I hate the stickiness??? But I'm addicted now. I must admit that the ultra glossy look of Juicy Tubes cannot be beaten by any of the lipglosses in the cosmetic market. Dior Addict Ultra gloss is a good one, but the staying power sux. So impressed by the lastingness of JTs, I can usually still find it staying on my lips after a meal, not to mention the economical 15ml tube, as compared to all others 5ml gloss sizes from its competitors.
Cerise is a combination of Frambroise and Melon, i.e. sheer as Frambroise but smells like Melon. I prefer Melon to Cerise, but Cerise to frambroise. Sorry if I'm not specific enough to describe this shade, such a hard task :)

Shampoo -Kerastase - Oleo Relax shampoo
shirfene 3/19/2004 7:47:00 AM

I love all Kerastase's products! Oleo relax shampoo is gentler than Satin Bath 2, so, for those who think Satin Bath foams up too much that gave you itchy scalp, check this out! Ever since I changed to Kerastase range, my hair has become so soft and much manageable. It makes me think Tigi's shampoos are craps. I use this together with Oleo relax serum and the oleo relax masque, the result is amazing!! However, maybe because I no longer have frizzy hair, I prefer Satin Bath 2 to Oleo relax for my oily scalp. Oleo relax shampoo is a diluted version of Satin Bath and it smells better.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Gentle Cream Exfoliant
shirfene 3/17/2004 9:44:00 AM

From this product, I learnt that I should always read the instruction carefully before I start using a new product. *blush* I actually used it as a normal facial scrub when I read the name being 'exfoliant'. I was wondering why wasn't it doing the exfoliation job properly, and thought it was a nice cream cleanser *blush again* Then when I decided to write a review on this product, after reading all other reviews about it, I realised it should be used as a mask!!! I've almost gone through 1/4 of the tube before I noticed I've been using it in the wrong way, what a waste!!
Back to the product, it is quite similar to Clarins Gentle Facial Peeling, apply to face, dried up then rinse off. Is it useful and effective in exfoliation at all? well, I don't think so. Not as effective as any exfoliators that I have used, my skin wasn't brightened at all after the treatment. I might just stick to Clarins' one or use an ordinary facial scrub. I don't find it helping my skin much but drying out my skin a bit. I'd probably continue to use it as a cleansing cream, which I think is a better way to finish up the tube :)

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for Lips- Sunshine
shirfene 3/17/2004 9:26:00 AM

I don't like this shade, look nude on my lips. Golden peach? erm..don't think so. The slight glittering effect will be gone after 5 minutes, leaving my lips looking oily later. Might look great on top of lippies though, rather than using it alone. I love glosswear sheer shimmers in Mystic and Whisper, but not in Sunshine, I wish I can return it :P By the way, Clinique's glosswears are pretty good and affordable, a bit sticky but guess that I can live with it :)

Sunscreen -Paula's Choice - Essential Non-Greasy Sunscreen spf 15
shirfene 3/16/2004 5:28:00 AM
I find this Essential Non-Greasy sunscreen to be greasy on my combination skin, not happy. The oiliness would just stay on my face for the rest of the day after applying. i don't find it smells bad, but erm...i just don't like it. I love reading Paula's reviews, thought all her products should be really good but unfortunately not. Like many other brands, I love some of her stuffs but dislike others, too bad coz they're affordable and come in big sizes.

Cleansers -Ella Bache - Lait Exotique
shirfene 3/15/2004 9:09:00 AM

200ml, AU$56
There are only two bad things about this cleanser: price and scent. It smells like cough medicine, really hate that kind of smell which made me give up this product. Also, Ella Bache's products in Australia are actually locally made, can't understand why this cleanser is actually pricier than some of the imported ones from other brands.
Despite the scent, I really like using this cleanser. If you think Cetaphil is too gentle for your oily skin, you must must must try this. Similar texture but cleanse better than Cetaphil. It makes skin feeling soft and supple after the wash. As mentioned by one of the reviewers below, you no longer need a foaming cleanser for your oily skin, Lait Exotique is really good! Pinkish lotiony texture, best to be used with the sponge custom-made by Ella Bache if you prefer wiping it off rather than rinsing :)

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy Tubes in Sun Bronze
shirfene 3/14/2004 11:10:00 AM

Unlike other JT's shades, which are usually colourless, Sun Bronze is sorta in dark red. I'm not a fan of red glosses, make me looks old. I love Juicy Tube's staying power, never comes off even after eating or drinking, hate the stickiness though. The shiny effect is glamorous, I'd love to try JT in other shades but not Sun Bronze again, not my style. Anyway, so far my favourite JT shade is Melon!!

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear For Lips in Whisper
shirfene 3/14/2004 11:04:00 AM

I thought I'm gonna hate this shade when I first use it. It appears to be whitish, like I'm ill or what. Later on, I learned that it should actually be applied as little as possible to achieve the nice shimmering effect. No colour at all, but the sparkling effect is very impressive. Best to be used on any lipstick of any shade. The staying power isn't that good but slightly better than Dior Addict Ultra Gloss. :)
