Scrubs -Wet 'n' Wild - Daily Cleansing Scrub
rated 5 of 5

I generally dislike Wet 'n' Wild products, but I was curious as to how well their skincare would work when I saw this on sale. The exfoliating beads are tiny, way smaller than I am used to from most other scrubs. It might not be so bad as a daily exfoliator because it's not as harsh as others. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this otherwise. I have very dry skin and this doesn't dry out my skin like the scrub I was using, yet it's keeping my skin as clear as the other product I was using. The reduced dryness is probably due less salicylic acid than other acne scrubs. Another plus is it has a really pleasant smell. I think I am going to stick to using this on the face as it's less drying but still cleansing and just use my old scrub on my body. *Edit* After using this for a little, I have to say this is probably my HG when it comes to acne treatment. My face has gotten a lot clearer since using this. I finally have a product that has reduced my blackheads too. It exfoliates and it doesn't dry out my skin.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Medicated Lip Balm
rated 1 of 5
ryden_gorey 3/9/2008 4:06:00 AM

All it does is coat my lips, it doesn't sink in at all. I don't even mind the clove scent that much, but I'm sure a lot of people would as it is very strong. It just does nothing. It has an impressive list of ingredients, which is odd because it does nothing. My lips are always just as dry after applying. Seriously, the oil from eating pasta moisturized my lips more than this lip balm. The only thing I use this for is to make my matte lipstick a little less dry. And I only use it because I don't want to feel like it was a complete waste of money.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Simply Divine Cherry Pie
rated 2 of 5

I thought it smelled so awesome in the store. I should have tried it on my skin before buying it instead of smelling it in the bottle. Once on my skin, it smelled like dirt and cherries instead of cherry pie. It was a waste of money.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 5 of 5
ryden_gorey 3/3/2008 9:12:00 PM

I have very dry skin, and after using different kinds of facial lotions over the years, I finally decided to use Vaseline. Finally I've got something that moisturizes my skin but doesn't make it break out. Vaseline is pretty much scentless, unlike the lotion I was using that had an overpowering perfume scent. The only thing is the lotion did better was leaving my skin softer, but I think it that was because of all of the oil, which was breaking out my skin. It's cheap, works, and I don't need a lot. I put it on my face, rub it in a little bit, then wipe it off with a towel.

Makeup Brushes -Maybelline - Retractable Lip Brush
rated 3 of 5

I like the packaging and design of the brush. I think the brush itself is a little too thick. I had another lip brush that I lost, and it was much thinner and made it easier to apply on the finer parts of my lips. This brush is thicker and more difficult. I guess it will become easier with some practice though. But right now, it's making the lines on my lips look a little too soft instead of precisely lined. I don't know if this is different from the other brushes being reviewed here. It's in a black case.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Shadow
rated 2 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 5:01:00 AM

I got this in Wild Orchid, which is just a shimmery baby pink. I think my tube must have been extremely old because the product seemed to be breaking down. Instead of just creamy pink shadow, hot pink water-y stuff came out as well. It just made everything watery. I don't know what was wrong, but the product wouldn't stay at all either.

Moisturizers -Ponds - Dry Skin Cream
rated 3 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 4:46:00 AM

It's very cheap and a little goes a long way, so it lasts for quite a while. It works pretty well as I have extremely dry skin and my face would be covered in dry patches if I didn't apply this after washing my face. Because it is so rich, I don't apply too much and I make sure to wipe it completely off when I'm done massaging it into my skin and letting it set for a couple of minutes. The main downside is that sometimes it will make a zit worse after applying. Last time I used this I had just gotten out of the shower and didn't have any noticeable zits. When I finished using this, I had a huge one right in the middle of my forehead. I think it was due to irritation from rubbing the cream in and the extra moisture soaking into the blemish.

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Make Me Starlit Illuminating Body Lotion
rated 2 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 4:37:00 AM

Smells really good in the bottle, which is packaged gorgeously. And I like the smell. For some reason, it smells off on me unless I apply a lot, which I can't do because it is like applying body glitter when a normal amount is used. It's not subtle at all. My friends made comments about all the little specks of glitter on me. And it doesn't really make my skin feel any softer or moisturized. Kind of a thin texture for body lotion.

Eye Makeup Remover -Maybelline - Expert Eyes Moisturizing Remover for waterproof Eye Makeup
rated 4 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 4:20:00 AM

Good for cleaning my some eye makeup brushes and makes them softer. Gets all of my eye makeup off easy. Oily, yes- but it only takes a drop or two on each eye to get all of the makeup off. On top of this, it doesn't bother my eyes. And when I'm done removing eye makeup, I just have to wipe my eyes with a clean towel or wash my face to get the remover off. It gets off my HIP creme liner like it's nothing and super thick mascara.

Brows -MAC - Brow Finisher
rated 3 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 4:16:00 AM

I have this in clear. This stuff is OK at getting my brows to stay in place, but it's a little difficult to apply makeup onto my brows after applying this finisher. I am currently using a very light amount of blacktrax fluidline since I have black brows, but this makes the makeup very uneven and not smooth when I apply it over the wax. It's also pretty pricey, although it doesn't take much to get the job done. The associate I bought this from suggested I use a dark brown shadow for my brows, but said the fluidline would work too. I think I might try using the dark brown shadow before completely giving up on the finisher. But off of my current experience, I wouldn't buy it again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mi'Lady Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo
rated 5 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 4:09:00 AM

The shadow was so gorgeous, I had to buy it. I ended up using the purple a lot more than I thought I would. It's a soft, pretty purple that I would blend with Trax. It's not a heavy purple, but could be worn alone. Not quite a bright as it was in the pan, but very pretty. I didn't expect the red to be super red since it looked a little copperish in the pan. It's about the same shade that was in the pan. It's a little too copper to be worn by itself, but it works wonderful when blending with other things to get a good red. I personally loved using it over the Flammable paint since the paint is so dark, it's on the verge of burgundy of berry. Put this over it and it was blood red and the shadow was quite good for using to blend to a soft red from the blood red. The shadows were very easy to apply. I loved them. I hate that this was limited edition because something smashed my shadow case and the shadow inside crumbled. I would totally buy it again.

Liquid -MAC - Hyper Real SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 3:58:00 AM

I got this out of an emergency. MAC was out of the foundation I wanted and I was completely out of foundation, so I decided to try this. I actually like the coverage this foundation gives. It's a good medium, easy to apply and blend. What I don't like is the slight shimmer it gives me. I want my skin to look like skin, and this sometimes ends up making my skin look a little oily. I've actually started putting powder over my face after applying this to counteract the oily look.

Powder -Victoria's Secret - Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 3:53:00 AM

I actually like this. I normally don't use powder but I use this as a finishing touch to make my skin look like actual skin since my current liquid foundation looks a tad too much like I'm wearing makeup and it slightly shimmery. This gives decent coverage for powder. It's smooth and applies and blends well. The downsides are that it's very expensive. I only got it because it was on sale. The packaging is a little cheesy- pictures of Victoria's Secret models, no indication of color name (there is a transparent piece of plastic over the powder so you can see the shade), the compact is made of cardboard, and apparently it's just called "pressed powder". The product itself has worked well for me, but I think I'd like to try other powders that may be cheaper.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - sexy little things lip stain in forbidden fruit
rated 3 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 3:44:00 AM

The color is OK but it comes off too easily for a lip stain. The packaging is adorable. The lip gloss is quite sticky and seems like it's not too bad, but they added glitter to it, which pretty much ruins it. It's not so bad if you only apply a little gloss.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Brillant Lip Shine
rated 3 of 5
ryden_gorey 2/17/2008 3:41:00 AM

This stuff is pretty much lipgloss, only with intense color. It's also kind of glittery. It doesn't stay wonderfully, but it look pretty good and I like the applicator. The packaging is a pretty cute idea. To get more product on the brush, you click the back. The downside is this doesn't work half of the time and so I end up over clicking and getting about three times as much product suddenly oozing out at once. The brush makes application pretty easy. I don't think I would buy again though. I think if I need glossy color, I might just get some cheaper lip gloss and put it over a lip stick I like.
