Moisturizers -Biore - SkinPreservation Dual Fusion Moisturizer+SPF 30 ] [DISCONTINUED]
rock_chica81 5/4/2009 11:52:00 PM
I've been using this for over a month now and I really like it. I'm not a fan of the dual chamber packaging though. But it's really light and it doesn't make my face breakout. Absorbs quickly and leaves a nice matte finish. I think this is great for warmer weather. I do think I'll have to switch back to Aveeno when it gets colder since this isn't really moisturizing. But overall a really good DS moisturizer. ***Update: So I'm giving this 5 stars. After finishing my first bottle of this I switched to a couple other moisturizers that had SPF30 and it reminded me of why I love Biore. Many SPF 30's feel like thick sunscreen and cause me to breakout :( Had a coupon and bought Biore again and it's an excellent moisturizer for oily skin with a good SPF. Love, love, love.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rock_chica81 5/4/2009 11:47:00 PM
I'm an NC 30 and bought this in Sandy Beige. Pretty good color match. Alright so what I loved about this foundation is: the price, the color selection, the pump, the coverage was good and left skin luminous, felt light and made my skin soft, stayed on throughout the day. What I didn't like was that it always makes my face breakout. I've used this on and off for the past few months and each time I use it little zits start forming on the tzone. If it wasn't for the breakouts this would be an HG.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Feria Haircolor
rock_chica81 5/3/2009 2:51:00 PM
I bought this in medium ash brown which is supposed to be a new shade. I only bought it since I had coupons and I only paid a few bucks for two boxes. Big mistake. My hair is dark brown and this made my roots a bright red. I specifically bought it because it said Ash and hoped it would minimize the red in my hair. The rest of my hair looks like an ashy black. It's also left my hair really dry and frizzy. I've never had red results like this when using an Ash color. I think I'll just stick to Colorsilk from now on.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Extra Volume Collagen mascara
rock_chica81 5/2/2009 3:27:00 PM
This is an okay mascara for me. It doesn't give much length but does give good volume when built up. Does have a tendecy to clump so I do go over with an eyelash comb. The blackest black isn't as dark as I'd like. The packaging is a bit bulky. Doesn't feel heavy on my lashes and could hold a curl. What I do really like about this mascara is it doesn't smear or flake. Flaking is the biggest problem that I've had with other mascaras (Lash blast, Colossal, MF Extreme, etc) and it irritates the heck out of my eyes. This one stayed put all day and seriously through the next morning on a night I didnt wash my face. It's the only reason I'd repurchase. Otherwise, I think that Voluminous carbon black is a better option when it comes to dramatic lashes.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam V
rock_chica81 4/28/2009 7:01:00 PM
I think the reviewers below have described this color pretty well. It's a very neutral color and it shows up as a mauvey brown on my NC30 skintone. It's also really shimmery and very sheer on me. Trying to build up color only leaves me with that gritty feeling from the shimmer. I prefer Hug Me as my everyday go to lipcolor but this one is nice too on its own or even on top of Hug Me. Although it's a nice color, I don't like it enough to repurchase.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
rock_chica81 4/28/2009 6:51:00 PM
So I finally caved and bought this. I absolutely love it. I'm an NC30 and it shows up as a light pinky brown on my pigmented lips. Pros: It's a great neutral color with a soft sheen that you can dress up or down. Don't need a mirror to apply since the color is a bit sheer. I love how creamy it is and it doesn't have a sickening taste/smell like some other lippies. Cons: Lacks staying power and not particularly moisturizing. But it's such a great lippie for a mom on the go that I'll continue to repurchase.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20 (2009 formulation)
rock_chica81 4/25/2009 12:28:00 AM
I was on the hunt for a good DS foundation since I could no longer afford my beloved Lancome. I remember trying the old formulation of this years ago and never repurchasing. But I thought I'd give it another try. I'm around an NC 30 with normal to combo skin and bought this in, I believe, Natural Beige. Pros: Did not clogs pores or cause any breakouts. Lasted all day. Did not feel heavy. Good coverage. Didn't accentuate any fine lines or pores. It did accentuate some flakiness though. Cons: Color selection. Yes, I could get away with wearing this shade but I felt it washed me out a bit. It was yellow toned yet a bit ashy if that makes sense. The shades lighter were too pink and the next warm toned color was too dark. Also, it gave me a greasy t-zone. Packaging - It would be nice if it had a pump. Lastly, it wasn't very blendable. The only way I could get a flawless finish is with a sponge which as we all know wastes more product. Overall, it was an okay foundation. If you could get a good color match and don't mind taking some extra time to blend then it might be worth a shot. I'll probably finish using this but I won't repurchase.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
rock_chica81 4/6/2009 11:39:00 PM
This was not a winner for me. I have Dallas and Hoola which I love so when I saw Coralista, I just had to get it. Pros: The color is gorgeous! Cons: Well it would've been gorgeous on me but I had to really build it up for it show up on my NC30is skin tone. Building it up caused it to become way too shimmery. Dislike the big clunky box it comes in as well as the price. My BFF is an NC25ish and this looked great on her with just one swipe on each cheek. Not the case for me so I returned it. I have better luck with Nars blushes.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
rock_chica81 4/6/2009 11:25:00 PM
I actually really love this TM. I've been using it for about 3 wks now and I don't have any major gripes. I bought it in Medium which blended well with my NC 30ish complexion. I actually thought it was a little thick for a TM and had to work a little more at blending it but it did a great job in evening out my skintone once it was all blended. I would say the finish is on the shimmery side too.. It lasts all day and hasn't caused any breakouts. Love the pump dispenser. I would say this TM is probably better for normal/combination since it's not moisturizing enough for dry skin but the shimmer and dewy finish is probably not the best for acne prone skin either. It is a bit pricey for a DS brand but I'd repurchase.

Brows -Studio Gear - Studio Gear brow pencils
rock_chica81 3/4/2009 12:07:00 AM
Love this pencil. I was using a brow pencil by clinique that I also loved but used up every few weeks! This one by Studio Gear is much better. I'm a brunette and use this in medium ash brown. The color is perfect! No red/orange tones whatsoever. It lasts all day too! Reasonable price considering I've been using the same pencil everday for the past few months and still have alot of product left. It's become my HG of brow pencils.

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk in Dark Brown
rock_chica81 3/4/2009
I think it's about time I've written a review for this staple of mine. I've been dying my hair for many years now and have had everything from dark blonde to dark plum hair. This is the box I reach for when I want to go back to my "natural" hair color. Pros: Not at all drying. This doesn't leave my hair feeling like hay the way Garnier and Feria does. The color is a very nice deep chocolate brown without all the brassiness. I actually really like the conditioner. Leaves my hair silky. You really can't beat the price. I stocked up at Walmart when they were 2 for 3.98. Cons: I guess the gloves are flimsy and the conditioner comes in a packet and not a tube....Doesn't bother me.

Fragrances -Kuumba Made - Egyptian Musk
rock_chica81 2/15/2009 4:18:00 PM
I'm absolutely in love with fragrance. I stopped wearing perfume when I was pregnant and had not found a fragrance that I liked since having my baby more than a year ago. Someone on the fragrance board suggested Egyptian Musk and I thought I'd give it a try when I was at my local whole foods. I can't tell you how perfect this is. I've gotten so many compliments from co-workers and family. My husband loves it too. I also don't have to worry about it being overbearing for my one year old either. It's so soft and clean yet still very feminine. It has really good staying power and it's reasonably priced. I've tried Egyptian Goddess which is really nice too but Kuumba's still smells softer and less spicier to me so this is definitely the winner. Big thank you to the fragrance board for this great recommendation.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Lip Color Raisin #3
rock_chica81 9/6/2008 1:07:00 PM
This is such a pretty color! I'm an NC30 and this is a bit deeper than my natural liptone. The other reviewers have described this shade well. Plummy brownish color. Pros: The color is very wearable. During the summer I blot it down to a stain and add gloss over it. Once Fall and winter come around I love wearing this full on! Does make your teeth look whiter. Very long wearing. Doesn't feather. I don't find the smell or taste to be offensive like some EL or Lancome lippies. Matte but with a slight sheen. Nice packaging. Cons: It's a bit pricey for a l/s especially when this is a pretty neutral shade and I'm sure there's a DS dupe somewhere. Can be drying so make sure you use a balm with it. Overall, it is a really nice lippie that most skin tones could pull off. Definitely worth a try if you don't mind shelling out the cash for it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe
rock_chica81 9/5/2008 2:41:00 AM
Love this color! Pretty neutral brown that could be paired up with a great variety of colors or used on its own. Very pigmented, blendable, smooth, non-powdery, and long wearing. Will repurchase. Oh I'm an NC30 btw.

Blush -MAC - Mocha blush
rock_chica81 9/5/2008 2:35:00 AM
Gorgeous! I'm an NC30 and this is pretty much my everyday blush. Definitely not a mocha color. More of a dusty pink with a matte finish. It is very pigmented but that's why I like it so much. A little goes a long way which is good since it's a bit expensive for being a blush. The color fades throughout the day but I don't mind doing a quick touch up. Overall, a really nice blush for most skin tones.
