Lip Treatments -Blistex - Medicated Lip Ointment
redheadjane 1/25/2011 9:00:00 AM
This is the Best Sore Lip Repair! I've been using it on/off for about 10 years and just picked up another tube. It's not an everyday lip balm but better if you have cold sores, or cracked, dry lips that need some TLC. I put this baby on my lips and within a day, they feel normal again. Between this and Carmex, my lips always stay healed and moisturized, especially during the brutal winter months. Highly recommend this product over any other medicated lip treatment.

Fragrances -Givenchy - Play Intense
redheadjane 1/25/2011 7:40:00 AM
Play for Her Intense is much better than the Original version. It has a very sexy, fun and sensual aroma that my boyfriend loves on me. I don;t really like it when I first Put it on (It's too alcohol/Flowery) but after it's warmed up to my body it takes on the woody florals with a moderate musky scent. It's not my favorite perfume but it's a good daily wear scent mainly because after about 3 hours, I can't smell it on me. But others, if they get close can smell it. The drydown is pretty ubtle, not the typical powdery smell like a lot of perfumes lately, it retains it's muskiness as the day goes on. Overall, I give it a 4. One of the better new scents put out by the big houses lately.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
redheadjane 1/25/2011 7:34:00 AM
I have used Lash injection on/off for several years. Typically I get it as a mini in a kit and I got the full size with the Look of Love bag. For me, this is an average mascara. I find it a bit on the dry side and if I am not careful , it will clump up on my lashes. I would never buy it by itself. I actually prefer either Other mascaras over this but I try to use it up. It does make my lashes a bit thicker looking, but my issue with my own lashes is that they are not long enough and are fairly light in color. This mascara is ok for casual days but there is nothing "Wow" about it at all. I much prefer Telescopic or Dior.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic in Carbon Black
redheadjane 1/22/2011 11:08:00 AM
I really love this mascara when I need to get some length. MY lashes are average, not super long (I just started Latisse though). I'm a reddish blonde naturally but dye my hair a Level 5 Red, so I basically you don't see my lashes when not wearing mascara, so it's a crucial everyday item for me. This separates really well, gives me length, no clumping at all. Just very well defined lashes that look beautiful. Despite not being waterproof, it holds up very well when my eyes water (I wear contacts). I'm now on my second tube of this and will buy it again, it's that good.

Treatments -Clarins - Younger Longer Balm
redheadjane 1/18/2011 9:37:00 PM
This is really a phenomenal Night Treatment. It's chock full of antioxidants and emollients to rehydrate and refresh your skin. It does not irritate my skin or make me break out, on the contrary, I find that after wearing this at night, my skin looks fresher, brighter and my skintone is more even when I awake in the morning. The balm itself is in a great packaging..a pump to prevent the ingredients from going bad, I wish a lot more companies would do this with their night creams. this makes my skin very soft when I wake up in the morning. It's not greasy, despite it's thick viscosity. A little goes a long way. For me 2 pumps is more than enough. If you warm it up between your hands and Pat it on (Using the Methode) it will go on smoothly. It has a fresh scent, not overwhelming at all, just a nice botanical smell. It's expensive, but it is Clarins and their products are very much quality. I like the fact that they use plant based ingredients. I cannot use a lot of the typical anti-aging products on the market because I have some chemical sensitivities. But I have never had any issues with Clarins Skincare or their makeup. A bottle of this should last awhile. As I said, you don't need a lot, every other night or every third night. This is probably suited for more drier skins and women and men over 30. And could be used by those with skin issues like redness. It's very soothing and calming. I've been using it on and off for 5 months and I am still on the same bottle, so I will say that for what it does, it's a fair price.

Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle
redheadjane 1/18/2011 6:28:00 PM
I've rarely, if ever, been this impressed with a Drugstore foundation. I find most of them too orange or that they oxidize on me. I picked this up at Rite Aid for $15.99. I do not think that is too expensive for a foundation, I normally use HE foundations that cost $30 plus. I believe you get what you pay for and having sensitive skin, I can't take the risk with products that contain a lot of fillers. I've been in the market for a creamy, mousse type foundation for months now. I find them much more gentler on my 38 year-old face. My skin is somewhat sensitive and combo, oily t-zone. I typically like foundation that I can put on, no retouching throughout the day. I'm quite surprised by this L'Oreal Product. The colors are closer to real skintones, (I'm wearing Ivory) the consistency is liked whipped butter. I actually love the nice higher end packaging, It's very pretty. I tested it first on dry face, no moisturizer, no primer (I did exfoliate). I was quite surprised that it went on evenly and very fast. I dabbed a bit on with clean fingers and then used my Brushes to blend. After it sets up, which is fast, it does truly have an airbrushed look. I hardly needed concealer at all. In blended into my skin so well, that I could hardly tell I had makeup on. This is Exactly What I was looking for!! IT really did airbrush my crater sized pores on my cheeks and nose. It also did not settle into my fine lines. I looked younger if that's possible. The only con I can think of is that if you have dry spots on your face, this may accentuate them. Moisturizing well before hand is very important. I probally would not wear this if I was dry or flakey at all. For those who found it pilly like your face? Your not applying it right. Mouse makeup is highly pigmented. You are putting too much on, don't be heavy handed with this. I do suggest a brush application being the best or a beauty blender. No need for powder, seriously, I have a oily T-zone and even after 5 hours with no primer on, I had "0" oil breakthrough. I'm So stoked to find an Amazing DS find!! I feel like I hit gold with this one.

Treatments -Aphogee - Two-Step Protein Treatment (formerly Treatment for Damaged Hair)
redheadjane 1/18/2011 4:31:00 PM
Aphogee literally saved my hair about a year ago and I just picked it up again. I decided to go bleach blonde last year from auburn and my hair was pretty damaged. Breaking off, split ends, no shine, no body, mushy. After 3 treaments of this over the course of three month, my hair was mostly restored. I say mostly because I went back to being a redhead. My hair is still porous in some places but damage like that can take a very long time to mend. With this treatment, you first use a shampoo for damaged hair first, blot dry, and then comb this through. I use a dryer on this until it is hard and then let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse carefully in the shower. Don't agitate your hair, just let the water rinse it away. I then follow with the conditioner and leave that on for 15 minutes or more. You should be able to immediately know a difference. I do recommend for those with very damaged hair to buy the large sized bottle and conditioner and repeat this every 4-6 weeks. With deep conditioning treatments weekly. It will save your hair and keep you from having to cut it off. I just picked up the Roux Porosity shampoo/Conditioner and hope that furthers my goal of achieving long beautiful, healthy hair.

Treatments (Eye) -Garnier - Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller
redheadjane 1/18/2011 9:04:00 AM
Yep, the worst beauty purchase of 2010 for me. Total waste of time. Does not do anything. Garnier needs to remove this from the market. Now it's a $12 dollar cat toy. My kitty likes to roll it around! lol

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Metallic Duo - Gilded #806
redheadjane 1/16/2011 8:02:00 PM
I love the combo of these two metallic colors. Great for nighttime, a little too glittery for day but beautiful nonetheless. I am fair with Medium Auburn hair and it suits my coloring, it is very flattering on me. The colors are highly pigmented and you really don't need much at all. Overall, great product. In general HIP makes some of my favorite eye products along with NYX.

Treatments -Kate Somerville - CytoCell
redheadjane 1/16/2011 7:57:00 PM
I got a generous 2 week sample of this and did not even make it past day 3. The stuff broke me out Terribly, just when I was getting very clear skin!! UGH. The ingredients in this besides the Active ingredient are comedegenic. Why on Earth would Kate Somerville, so called Skincare guru put a product like this out of the market is beyond me. Yeah, it made my skin soft but anything with cones' in it will do that. Horrible product, insanely expensive, overhyped skincare line. I'll stick with my Kinerase and Skinceuticals. Ingredients: Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Dimethicone, C4-24 Alkyl Dimethicone/Divinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Isodecyl Isononanoate, Isohexadecane, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Pentylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Behenyl Alcohol, Linoleic Acid, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Whey Protein, Cetearyl Glucoside, Linolenic Acid, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Polysorbate 80, Disodium Edta, O-Cymen-5-Ol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Polydiethyleneglycol Adipate/Ipdi Copolymer, Tocopherol, Tropolone, Polypeptide-72, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool Note: Lavender Oil can cause skin cell death. Bergamot causes Skin discolorations when in the sun. Horrific product...do not buy, do not use!!!!!

Conditioner -Alterna - Caviar Anti-Aging Volume Conditioner
redheadjane 1/16/2011 1:13:00 PM
I really like this Conditioner and the shampoo. I got the Travel pack of anti-aging products from Ulta and I have to say, I like the whole line. Typically I have to use some kind of leave-in treatment after washing and conditioning. My hair is colored and I've been going grey since I was 17, so needless to say, my hair is damaged, porous and dry most of the time. This conditioner leaves my hair soft and bouncy, I didn't even have to put a leave in treatment (I typically use Phyto 9). I'm impressed enough that I plan on picking up the Fullsized bottles of this next week and keep the travel pack for my boyfriend's house. Superior product that is worth the cost!

Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - the Detangler
redheadjane 1/16/2011 1:09:00 PM
I used to use this detangler back in the 90's and loved it then. I picked it up recently because after going from red to blonde and back to red, my hair was damaged and tangled easily. This does detangle hair decently but my hair felt dry and brittle after a few hours, even with air drying. Maybe it's because my hair is aging and I have grey under my color, I don't know. But I think that if your hair is otherwise fairly healthy and not as dry as mine, it may work for you.

Blush -NARS - Dolce Vita
redheadjane 1/16/2011 1:04:00 PM
Since I totally have become a Nars fan, It pains me that Dolce Vita just did not work on my skin or coloring. I'm a fair faced, medium auburn (I was a blonde briefly, still didn't work). It's a bit too bright and clownidsh looking on my face. I looked flushed but not in a good way. I think this is more ideal for darker skintones as on my fair skinned I looked like I had Rosacea. I gave it to a light skinned AA friend of mine and it does look great on her. I'll give it a 3 for that.

Fragrances -Givenchy - Play for Her
redheadjane 1/13/2011 8:19:00 PM
Got a sample and wore this for a few days. Initially I liked this, it's musky scent but it really does not have that much depth to it for a perfume. Within a few hours I couldn't smell it on me anymore. I'm surprised because Givenchy scents are usually very strong and long lasting on me. It also smells a lot like other perfumes on the market, like someone said Dior Addict Shine is very similar. Glad I got a sample, I won't buy this.

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Lemon & Sage Body Butter
redheadjane 1/13/2011 8:16:00 PM
Though I like the fresh lemon scent, I do not like the formula of this product at all. I got a full sized sample from Sephora, so I didn't pay for a full size and glad I did not. For one thing, the scent does not last for more than 20 minutes. I tested this even on my hands, scent totally disappeared . I tried it on my legs, it absorbed but after 20 minutes my skin was dry as it was before I put this on. So no moisturizing at all. I'm dry in the winter and that will not do. Totally useless for me. Totally disappointed by Bliss.
