Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Moisture

I realize that everyone has different preferences in lip balm, so... if you're like me and prefer stuff like Vaseline, Rose bud lip salve, soft lips, cocoa butter etc, then this product may not be for you. It sits on my lips and feels very solid and almost cakey. And the lipstick-like packaging just looks odd.

Fragrances -Le Labo - Labdanum 18

Love this scent. It's expensive, but I only wear it on special occasions. It's very, very sexy and strong. I smell myself (inadvertently) constantly when I wear this. For some this fragrance is very overpowering so I would advise not to wear it in professional or small-room situations. It's a very comforting scent, perfect when you want to feel sexy not for someone else, but for yourself.

Primer/ Corrector -TheFACEShop - Professional Makeup Base - Green

I had a horrible day recently when I used my Neutrogena Wave with a washcloth and some heavy cleanser then accidentally used a harsh toner and, idiotically, a Skin Food peach sake sheet mask. (I mean, it's a great mask, but pouring SAKE on my already irritated skin?) The next day I was still red EVERYWHERE and I grabbed this in desperation. For such a low price, there's a LOT of product. It has the consistency of tinted moisturizer and is very easy to apply. It immediately toned down the redness and after the rest of my makeup I looked completely normal. Best of all, it didn't further irritate my skin. I didn't try to spot-correct anything and I think the consistency would not be ideal for small things like pimples, but across large areas of skin this works very well. I also really like the packaging. The tube compresses as you use it, like toothpaste, so it feels substantial and you always know how much you have left.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cork
redchinamarker 11/6/2010 9:41:00 AM
This was my 2nd Mac e/s ever (after Satin Taupe) and my favorite ever since. I use it almost every day, either on the lids (with Espresso in the crease) or in the crease with pale, pink, or coral colors on the lid. It's also excellent with Shale. I would describe this product as "bronzer for the eyes". It has the exact same red/brown tone as most bronzer and really helps my NC20 skin look alive, especially when I'm having a pale day (or month). Shadow is soft, easy to apply with fingers or brush. Not very long lasting so use a primer. If you're looking for shades to work with the red tones in Cork, I (or rather MAC live chat) suggest: lighter: Expensive Pink, Naked Lunch, All That Glitter's, Arena or Motif darker: Espresso or Embark

Bronzers -Bobbi Brown - Bronzing Powder in Light

Excellent bronzer for my winter NC20 skin. My winter foundation is Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in porcelain, which is a bit too light for me. Once I put on this bronzer, I look healthy and natural. I like the matte finish, the packaging is nice (the push-button lid is especially great) and you only need a tiny bit every day.

Fragrances -Donna Karan - Be Delicious

Bright grapefruit that quickly turns to a very typical, but lovely and long lasting cucumber fragrance. No apple for me, maybe apple skin at the most. They have improved the packaging considerably, it's no longer shaped like an apple... well it is, but it has a lid now and the perfume sprays normally.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Wave™ (Power-Cleanser And Deep Clean Foaming Pads)
redchinamarker 10/28/2010 12:01:00 PM
Summary: w/ washcloth, HG if you have sebaceous filaments and enlarged pores w/ sebum plugs, but no major blackhead or pimple issues. HG!!!!! But you have to tweak it a little... I threw away the foaming pads after a few days-- it's ludicrous to think that every person who buys the Wave would want to use the same cleanser anyways. Get a soft washcloth, and run it under hot water. Then wrap it around the Wave and squeeze out the excess water on the cloth that isn't on the vibrating head. Add your cleanser of choice and voila. You can continue to re-wet the Wave with hot water if you like, no need to unwrap the washcloth. Use it for about a minute, being careful to get all the angles on your nose. I don't think this would help anyone with blackheads or pimples. But if you have those maddening sebaceous filaments (long white stringy stuff that comes out of a pore when you squeeze it) or enlarged pores with sebum plugs (large light brown pores that emit a hard 'grain of rice' of sebum) then this works SO WELL. I'm addicted to picking at my face and typically I squeeze out a mountain of sebum, but since adding the wave to my regimen I just get a few bits here and there. My skin is taut, oh-so-smooth and practically poreless now. My next project involves chopping a skin brush and attaching it to the wave. Must.. resist... Clarisonic!

Primer/ Corrector -DHC - Velvet Skin Coat
redchinamarker 10/27/2010 6:16:00 AM
Ever since I was 13 and tried foundation for the first time, I felt that something was wrong with my face. Foundation always made me feel really dirty/oily and it never looked natural. Eventually I started using mineral powdered foundations and I felt better, but it made my large pores look huge and emphasized the lines in my forehead. The only primer I've ever used is on my eyes (Urban Decay Primer Potion). I was hesitant to buy primer for my face because I thought it would be like UDPP, which is too greasy to use all over the face. But this is totally different stuff! After I moisturize I use a tiny amount on my forehead and nose, then I rub the excess product into my cheeks. With mineral foundation on, my pores are no longer visible and my skin looks smooth and taut. And my makeup looks the same at night as it did in the morning. P.S. I love that silky smooth silicon feeling more than anything else! It's like a silly bandz... for your FACE

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow

When I first bought this, I loved it. Obviously as others have said it's an amazing and unique color. But it's also the most instantly recognizable color on the planet IMO, so it is really not a unique LOOK. However when applied in small doses (as opposed to all over) it's still a really clever color. Nice applied wet as eyeliner too.
