Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 4 of 5
pulitzer 5/21/2011 1:32:00 PM

The Good: Applies really smoothly ("glides on"...), creamy texture, not super pigmented -not as black as black can be- but good for more natural eyes if you don't want too harsh of a black The Bad: Wears down really quickly and needs frequent sharpening so an entire pencil doesn't last too long for the $18 you pay, formula itself is not long lasting either and is easy to smudge so i avoid this in hot/humid weather

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Refreshing Eye Make Up Remover
rated 2 of 5
pulitzer 5/21/2011 12:54:00 PM

I bought the L'oreal Refreshing Eye Make Up Remover because it is oil free and I thought it would be a good easy daily eye mu remover. When I dip a q tip into the bottle and sweep it across my upper lash line, it STINGS LIKE A MOTHA. You cannot get this stuff anywhere near your eyeball or else even the slightest bit inside your eye will burn so bad - pretty ineffective for an EYE make up remover...I've had the unfortunate experience of having my contacts in while using this and my eyes got so teary and red. You have to put a ton of eye drops in to try and rinse the product out. This stuff also does not work well with waterproof makeup and just smears it around without taking it off.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
pulitzer 5/15/2011 12:44:00 AM

The L'oreal liquid pencil liner is really creamy and pigmented (I had it in black) and it applies like a dream. It also has incredible staying power and lasts well in humid weather. However, it wears down quickly and has to be sharpened really frequently. Also, I used it down to less than 1.5 inches and sort of left in in an unused make up bag for a month (went on a trip) and when i got back it was all dried up and un-useable - so I guess continually using the pencil after opening it is also something to watch out for.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Moisture
rated 3 of 5
pulitzer 5/14/2011 11:57:00 PM

This is a good balm to put under lipstick or even gloss to provide a sort of base so the lipstick/gloss doesn't define fine lines... BUT this product doesn't work well on a treatment level. My lips get dry again as soon as this wears off and I have to keep reapplying. Contrary to what its name implies, it doesn't give any moisture to your lips but it just acts as a layer of wax/castor seed oil/shea butter (some of its ingredients) that just sits on your lips until it wears off.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Facial Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
pulitzer 4/9/2011 1:31:00 PM

I have combo/oily skin esp on my tzone and around my nose. Neutrogena Deep Clean is very good at cleansing but way too harsh for my skin, especially in drier environments. It completely dries my skin out - my cheeks, the area around my mouth, sides of forehead always need a good slathering of moisturizer after I use this cleanser. It removes make up relatively well but makes my face feel tight and dried out afterwards. I have had similar experiences with Clean and Clear morning burst and Cetaphil for normal to oily.

Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI - Run With It!
rated 5 of 5
pulitzer 3/31/2011 10:32:00 PM

I'm so in love with this color!! Run With It! is a perfect blend of warm and cool that goes with any season and outfit but still looks modern and trendy. It is a light silver grey with fine brown/golden shimmer. Like other Sephora by OPI polishes, RWI is on the watery side but as a result, streaking is minimized and thin coats are easy to do. Two coats does the trick.

Concealers -TheBalm - Time Balm
rated 4 of 5
pulitzer 3/30/2011 5:22:00 PM

LIKES: creamy, opaque, not too rich so that it is unblendable, relatively good staying power (my face gets oily around mid day and it is still there but disappears at end of day) DISLIKES: does NOT work well for dry skin in my experience - i lay off this in the winter because the consistency just accentuates dry areas, the cap is inconvenient, can settle into fine lines and doesn't have any moisturizing quality, the sponge is kind of useless as i don't want to put it back in after i use it, no anti-wrinkle properties that i can tell... I see how people compare this to MAC studio finish. I have both and don't particularly prefer one to the other. They are both decent concealers but a little too rich for under eye and dryer skin (I have combo skin). I am shade NC35 in Studio Finish and I got Medium which is a pretty close match but less yellow.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Daisy
rated 5 of 5
pulitzer 3/28/2011 8:46:00 AM

There are only two scents I have ever found that I always love no matter how many times I smell it: Ralph Lauren Rocks and Marc Jacobs Daisy. An epitome of young, fresh, modern, Daisy is not overpowering or too serious at all. It is sweet but not candy sweet (like the Mariah Carey lollipop disasters), rather refreshingly floral. This review probably isn't going to help you if you have never smelled Daisy since I doubt you're getting a clear scent in your mind haha, but if you are on the edge of deciding, go for it! I love it and I know many others who do. (Also I appreciate the effort put into the cap but it is a little annoying.)

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean Oil Control Pressed Powder
rated 2 of 5
pulitzer 3/27/2011 11:16:00 AM

I got this pressed powder a long time ago when I was first getting into make up. Cover Girl clean oil control was my first pressed powder, and I bought it in the summer (when the oil/moisture control was needed). The biggest problem with this is that it does not stay on my face. The coverage easily slides off in warmer weather or even for those who have combo/oily skin. When I blot my makeup with a tissue, the product comes off easily. It even gets on your clothes (ie. it might rub off on the neckline of your shirt or if you change clothes). The coverage of the powder is low to medium and is not really buildable. I suppose those with dryer skin could use it in cooler weather where they won't be sweating but it's not for me.

Polishes -Borghese - Notte Black
rated 3 of 5
pulitzer 3/17/2011 1:59:00 PM

The color is a black with hardly noticeable shimmer. Needs at least two coats for opacity. Dries in a film feeling in that it sort of peels off instead of chips off. I got mine on sale but would have thought twice if it was at full price ($8?) The consistency is nice and applies easily. The brush is dense and wide which I prefer.

Polishes -OPI - Here Today ... Aragon Tomorrow
rated 4 of 5
pulitzer 2/14/2011 3:22:00 PM

Here Today Aragon Tomorrow is a great color for those who want to go for a super dark/black nail polish but don't want to do a complete black. From far away, this shade looks black but close up, the subtle dark green-ness keeps it trendy and unique. As with other OPI nail polishes I've tried, one coat is too watery to be opaque but two does the trick! I would wear HTAT again - it goes with everything fall and winter! I'd probably swipe it on the Spring too because I love the shade so much!

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Cream Eyeliner - All Colors
rated 5 of 5
pulitzer 1/27/2011 10:38:00 PM

I got this product in Black a few months ago, but I didn't want to write a review until I compared it to some other cream eyeliners. This, by far, beats other ones (including Tarte, Loreal, Bobbi Brown) in quality and price! The product applies so smoothly but locks down once it is on your eye. It is quite waterproof and does not smudge on the eye. At the end of the day, if you touch it, the product will transfer onto your finger though. My absolute favorite thing about this product is the consistency - opaque and has such a smooth creamy texture that it applies like a breeze. Much better than any pencil eyeliner I have ever tried. I've been using this weekly for many months and there is still a ton of left. It has not dried out at all either. This eyeliner comes with double the amount of product in the typical MAC fluidline and is only $3! (There are frequent 50% off online codes as well.) A tip: if you find that the product is a bit firm to coat your brush in, take the end of a slim eye or concealer brush and stir up the product. The normally solid eyeliner will turn into a very smooth and creamy container of goodness and it is easier to get the product onto the brush.

Eyeliner -Tarte - emphasEYES Inner Rim Eyeliner
rated 1 of 5
pulitzer 1/24/2011 10:12:00 AM

This eyeliner is one of the worst I have ever used. It is hard and tugs like crazy when you try to apply it. It doesn't apply smoothly on upper lash line and doesn't apply much at all on the water line. It is the complete opposite of creamy and the formula is actually dry enough to break off if you press too hard. I tried to warm it up by putting it next to the light bulb in a lamp and it was the tiniest bit easier to apply. Not worth the money at all. The only alright thing about it is that it is very slender so it is easy to maintain a slim tip but that does nothing if the actual eye liner doesn't even work!!! Do not waste your time or money buying this.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten
rated 1 of 5
pulitzer 12/30/2010 11:09:00 AM

Lovely gold-pink champange hue, but too much glitter and fallout for every day use. The shadow itself is quite soft and when swatched at first, it seems opaque and pigmented. Once you blend it out though all that remains is glitter. The color is completely gone (I am NC37-40 for reference). I suppose it could be used as a highlight but it's way too glittery for me. I also tried wearing this all over the lid but it really does nothing when I layer other shadows over it. For a dupe, ELF's mineral eyeshadow in Natural is similar to this!
