Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
rated 4 of 5

I saw this at Sephora and decided to splurge... this cost me $22 CDN! I'm glad I did thought! This eyelash curler is fantastic! I'm assuming I got one of the new "improved" ones, since I just bought it, but I honestly don't know. I have very long eyelashes and this does a great job of curing them and opening up my eyes! I find that it is much more comfortable to use than my old Revlon curler, because of the shape. Yes, the box says that if you use this every day, you will wear out the pad in 3 months. There is 1 replacement pad and then after that they want you to throw it out and buy a new one. Honestly though, I don't see myself wearing this out that quickly. (Buying 2 eyelash curlers a year is insane!). Anyhow, it will probably last me more like 2 years (but I don't curl my lashes every day).

This moisturizer doesn't work any better than other moisturizers that are half the price.

Cleansers -L'Occitane - Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam

I'm writing this review on behalf on my mom, who has been using this cleanser for about 3 weeks. She has dry, middle-aged skin. The entire Immortelle line was recommended to her when she went for the skin care consultation. Thankfully, she didn't purchase everything. Anyhow, my point is that the SA recommended this product for her dry skin, and I can't see why because this cleanser is very drying! It's probably lovely if you have oily to combination skin though. Also, for the price, she didn't notice anything special about it. Unfortunately, L'Occitane doesn't allow you to return opened product.

Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Organic Olive Moisturising Face Lotion

Considering the price of this product, I expected it to at least improve the appearance of my skin. I actually think my skin looks more... patchy/blotchy now. I don't have any problems with the absorption as other reviewers do, but it does make me greasy by the afternoon. One lippie for the packaging, and another 1 for the fact that yes it does work as a light moisturizer. Although. it's not anymore moisturizing than my plain old Complex 15 lotion, which is really too bad. I refuse to throw it out only because I wasted so much money on it so I'm forcing myself to finish the bottle. Save your $$, skip this one. EDIT: The more I use this, the more I hate it. Breaks me out so badly now...

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5

This is my HG body lotion! I love it so much that I'm going to be heartbroken if they ever discontinue it! It's very moisturizing, not at all greasy and doesn't cost much, what more could you want? The only time this doesn't work for me is in the winter on my hands. For some reason, my hands get very chapped in winter and they bleed and the only thing that repairs them is cetaphil's thick hand lotion.

As I was reading other people's comments on here, I realized that frlmarty's comments were exactly what I wanted to say. I agree with that review!

Skincare - Body -L'Occitane - 15% Shea Butter Body Lotion
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 10/19/2009 1:26:00 PM

My mom bought this, because she has very dry skin and was hoping it would become her HG body lotion. I have to mention that she really likes it, but here are my thoughts on the product.... Pros: - it does moisturize pretty well, once it has had time to sink in Cons: - the smell is too strong (IMO) - I don't like the greasy film it leaves on your skin (it goes away after a while though) - It was really expensive Overall, I much prefer the cost and effectiveness of Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing Lotion.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Ice Blue Soap
rated 3 of 5
product_junkie6 9/1/2009 11:23:00 PM

This soap has a nicer texture than some of the other Lush soaps I've tried. It lathers relatively well and has nice "slip" against the skin. It also doesn't melt very quickly! The only thing that I don't like about this soap is the scent. As others have mentioned, it is quite masculine. My dad and brother love it though! And we find that the scent does linger on us for a while.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - I should Coco Soap [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 9/1/2009 11:18:00 PM

I tried a sample of this soap. There are so many reasons why I don't like this one, but here's the main ones: First of all, it doesn't really lather. Maybe it depends on how hard or soft your water is? Next, while I didn't mind the feeling of the coconut pieces against my skin, I don't like the idea of all that food product going down my drain (and possibly clogging it). Also, the soap melted really fast so I was basically left trying to wash myself with a handful of coconut pieces and mushy soap-like stuff... Lastly, I don't care for the scent of this soap. To me, it doesn't smell like coconut at all! All I detected was a fake/chemical fruit scent.

Lip Treatments -Avon - Liiv Botanicals Naturally Glossy Lip Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
product_junkie6 9/1/2009 11:48:00 AM

This gloss/conditioner was about $6 CDN and comes in a tube with a wand. This product is very uncomfortable to wear because it's very sticky. It almost feels like it tugs on your lips the longer you have it on. I also found it difficult to remove because it left a sticky residue on my lips. Overall, it's just a crappy product and not worth purchasing.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
rated 1 of 5
product_junkie6 8/29/2009 2:54:00 PM

This soap smells like Bazooka Bubblegum mixed with burnt plastic! I used it once and had to through it out because the smell is just disgusting! As for the soap itself, it has a decent lather and didn't dry out my hands. I got it as part of a sampler, so I can't really comment on the price, though I know Lush tends to be expensive.

Lip Gloss -Kiss My Face - Sheer Organic Lip Shine
rated 4 of 5
product_junkie6 8/10/2009 3:06:00 PM

At the moment, this is my favourite lip balm! I have it in "Ruby", which is a sheer pink colour. I paid $8 CDN for this 14ml tube, which is more than I usually spend on gloss, but I didn't mind since it's 100% natural. The gloss isn't sticky, and gives a subtle hint of colour to my lips. In the tube, it looks like the formula has sparkles in it, but you don't see them on your lips (which is a good thing, IMO). I also love the minty flavour of this gloss! It tastes nice and makes my lips feel tingly for a while (but not in a painful way). Even though there is mint in this lipgloss, it doesn't irritate my lips the way other chemical lip balms do. EDITl: Don't use on chapped lips, it will burn.

Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI - Underwater Fantasy
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 7/27/2009 10:47:00 PM

Tried this on at Sephora today, and I'm so glad I tried it instead of just buying it based on the bottle colour. This is a very sheer, sparkly blue and it looks truly terrible on me. Makes me look like I have frostbite.

Polishes -OPI - La Paz-itively Hot Matte
rated 3 of 5
product_junkie6 7/24/2009 1:31:00 PM

I bought this out of sheer curiosity, because I've never worn a matte nail polish before. La Paz-itively Hot Matte is a beautiful colour! I have no idea what the original looks like, so I can't comment on how it compares. This looks exactly like pink satin fabric though! The application kind of sucks... there is a definite learning curve with this polish. If you apply too many strokes, the colour starts coming off! Maybe it's because it dries really fast... Anyhow, I found that loading the brush (and fanning it out) helps. Two coats looks just fine and isn't too streaky. Even though the bottle says not to use a base coast, I used one. I used Nail Envy treatment by O.P.I. That might be why it hasn't chipped yet (It's been about 16 hours since I applied it) and it might have helped the polish apply smoother. I don't think this will last more than 2 days on my nails though, it seems fragile compared to normal nail polish. Bottom line: nice colour if you like bright pink, pretty matte finish, and try a base coat UPDATE: Only lasted through 2 showers, just over 1 day.

Eyes -Lise Watier - Métamorfix
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 7/4/2009 12:34:00 AM

I bought this from Shoppers, because the sales lady told me it would make my eyeshadows more intense. Honestly, I think it's too pricy for what it does. I paid about $12CDN for 15 ml, and if I had read the ingredients before I bought it I probably would have thought twice. As others have said, it looks like it's mostly water and preservatives (or fixatives or something like that). I used this product on one hand, in a blue shadow. It went on a bit brighter and was a bit more smudge-proof. On the other hand I used the same shadow, but I put water on the brush instead. I got a similar colour but it was smudge-able. So overall, it's ok because it makes the shadow a bit brighter and durable. but it's not amazing.
