Treatments -La Roche Posay - Effaclar K
rated 4 of 5

Effaclar K. I was really hesitant in trying this stuff as I have passed it up so many times. Lately maybe it is hormones, stress etc but I have had some cystic acne and existing spots that just have been resistant and it has really been taking a toll on my face and piece of mind. I believe that we all deserve nice skin, clear skin because there are just too many other things to deal with. Me, early 30's, somewhat dry, acneic, sensitive skin. I have been using Effaclar K as a spot tx(perioral/chin/forehead) because the rest of my skin is behaving. Initially, I think I applied too much because this product stung. You really don't need alot with this-I just over did it. Price was 26+taxCDN(Shoppers Drug Mart) which is reasonable for me because this product is concentrated and little is needed. It is a nice light, somewhat silky fluid that absorbs quickly and doesn't leave that crusty white crap that other products have caused.I love that I can apply makeup over this as well. I have pretty sensitive skin and I really haven't experienced irritation other than my initial application. This product has really excelled as a spot treatment. It has lessened the severity of my existing issues and it makes my skin smooth. It has also lessened the redness of some darker spots I had. I cannot not give this five lippies yet because it is still a work in progress. I really like the packaging as well. I like the results I see so far. Update:noticed some pore shrinkage and works so well as a spot tx. Love that it dries clear and has kept away some hormonal acne(applied it to areas which are so prone for me as a preventative measure).

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Sweet Spot Lip Gloss
rated 4 of 5
onthemove 6/1/2007 9:59:00 AM

I love the packaging of Hard Candy's Sweet Spot Lip Gloss. I have this in Groovy-a pretty rose/pink colour with a hint of sparkle. Sheer and light! A lips but better shade. The taste really doesn't offend me-faint orange blossom. Tube is great and as others have mentioned points for the slanted tip. Lasting power is alright but it is just so cute to have in my posession. Would love to try out the other shades.

Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Smashing Glow
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/31/2007 11:55:00 PM

When I first received this, I was having a really crappy day. Lo and behold, a envelope arrived with my Smashbox Soft Lights "Glow". Who would have thought that a blush/highlighter would have perked me up. Sallowness be gone! Glow is a fairly matte, pink/slightly peach piece of heaven for my skin. I certainly was not disappointed when I applied it. It really did impart a pretty glow to my face and well dare we say I felt a little more awake. It is not loaded with tonnes of shimmer(which I don't mind here and there)-just very natural. I sort of expected my Bare Escentuals "Warmth" to do what Glow does despite my numerous attempts at trying to make it work. It left my face looking clean without that somewhat dirty look I got with Warmth. Smashing Glow is a hit for me and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a product that gives that extra little boost of radiance.

Skincare - Face -Avon - Anew Clinical Micro-Exfoliant
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/29/2007 12:06:00 PM

I had tried Loreal's Skin Refinisher, Life Brand's version etc and I wasn't too impressed. So I just stuck with a scrub-Queen Helene Mint Julep which I love but I wanted a product with finer granules. A micro-exfoliant. Enter Avon's Anew Clinical. I am very impressed with this product. It really makes my face smooth, glow and does not inflame my sometimes dry, acneic, sensitive skin. I feel younger using it because my overall skin texture feels and looks better. I love the tube and I purchased this on Ebay for a very reasonable price but I would pay full price for it because of the results I get. Highly recommended if you like me, are looking for a cost-effective, wonderful micro-exfoliant.

Liquid -Mary Kay - Medium Coverage Foundation
rated 4 of 5
onthemove 5/29/2007 11:58:00 AM

I just received my Mary Kay Medium Coverage foundation. I first have to say that I was taken by the coverage. It looks so nice and goes on so well. I needed something to complement my Dermasmooth by Vichy-something to use on the rest of my face. Sure there is no SPF but that can be rectified as I wear a seperate one anyway. I love the tube as it makes for little mess and easy application/mixing. There are a wide array of colours and you can get it very reasonably on Ebay. It has not dried out or irritated my skin and does not look masky. My skin is dry and acneic and the Full Coverage is for dryer skins, Medium Coverage (Normal to Oily) but this hasn't been a problem. It actually reminds me of Dermasmooth but for a far less price. I will buy again.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Shea Butter Skin Enriching Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/28/2007 10:40:00 AM

I went through tonnes of this during the winter. This review is for the stand up tube not the pump lotion. This cream is wonderful for dry skin and nice and thick. I love the cocoa/choco scent and it does not irritate my skin. Absolutely wonderful with no complaints for me except that I went through so much of it. I just purchased Life Brand Shea Butter lotion in the tub but it is no way a match for Jergens. Highly recommend.

Sunscreen -Ombrelle - Lotion SPF30
rated 4 of 5
onthemove 5/28/2007 10:22:00 AM

I have both the Kids and Regular Formulations(Canada) of Ombrelle SPF30. Now it is a fantastic sunscreen for the body. I just had too many problems with a greasy, stinging face. So it is solely used on my neck and body for myself and my daughter. It is the sunscreen I will always purchase and I think I will pick up some SPF 45 for this season. It may work for you face wise but for the body it is fantastic!

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
rated 4 of 5
onthemove 5/28/2007 10:08:00 AM

I am a die hard user of Ombrelle however it is just too greasy for my face but I use it on my body and for my daughter. I was curious about Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Sunblock. I purchased SPF 30 for a reasonable price. So far, I really enjoy this product and it does not leave my skin greasy, does not sting my eyes and has not inflamed nor caused any new acne. My skin is quite sensitive and I had some reservations about this product before I tried it but I really like it so far. While there are probably better products out there and I will eventually find my perfect sunscreen with a higher SPF and non-greasy and non-comedogenic-this will do for now. I do recommend giving it a try.

Styling Products -American Crew - d-fi d-struct pliable molding creme
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/28/2007 9:52:00 AM

Oooh D:fi D:struct pliable molding creme. One of my fav hair products ever. Tied with Beadhead's "Hard to Get". The scent is wonderful-pina colada! Great hold, non-greasy and the product I turn to when my hair just will not behave. Love it for short, spikey, somewhat messy look. Matte finish and can be used in both wet and dry hair but I prefer it as a finishing product. Can be hard to find and the price isn't too bad considering you really don't need a lot. Great for ladies and guys!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 5:31:00 PM

I really love Lash Exact by Covergirl and was so pleased when a waterproof formulation came out. I love the results I get with this mascara and it never clumps, flakes nor smudges. I can easily remove this product with my Avon Moisture eye makeup remover. The brush is really the magic in this product for me. I can get to the smaller lashes and the effect can be altered from natural to more extreme by the number of coats I apply. I tend to go with Soft Black which is dark but realistic. It really holds up at work and I am not constantly checking my face for racoon eyes. A rave for this product-I love Lash Exact but for the new waterproof version is great! My other faves being Avon Wash Off, Maybelline FullnSoft and my first choice- Loreal Voluminous(waterproof)

Treatments -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil (100% Pure Australian)
rated 4 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 5:25:00 PM

I love this Tea Tree oil as a spot tx for acne. Of course one should never apply it neat but should definitely dilute it before going near your face. I love the smell as well and I realize it is not for everyone but it is really a must for the medicine cabinet for minor first aid. Also I have made my own natural cleaner, diluted with water and lavender and it works so well.I also love a shampoo by Nature's Gate with tea tree that helps a dry scalp. So multipurpose and a little can do so much!

Eye Makeup Remover -Avon - Moisture effective Eye makeup remover
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 9:36:00 AM

I adore this product! I have tried removers from Rimmel to Lancome and this is hands down the best eye makeup remover for me. It is creamy, non-irritating(doesn't leave me dancing and squintly blindly around my bathroom) and takes off waterproof mascara. Dirt cheap and I stock up! Highly recommend particularly for those like me with sensitive eyes and don't want to burn a whole through their wallet!

Hair -Sunsilk - ThermaShine Detangling Shine Spray
rated 2 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 9:26:00 AM

This is a review for Sunsilk's ThermaShine Detangling shine spray. I purchased this for a steal and it comes in a purple, holographic spray bottle(at least in Canada). My hair is fine, short and slightly damaged. I really love the smell of this product and it does a good job detangling and have noticed a scant amount of shine. I rarely use heat appliances and let my hair air-dry. Has not irritated, dried my hair out of caused noticeable build up. It sure beats just dampening with water for me. I am sure there are better products out there but for the price, scent and its ability to detangle, I will repurchase. Okay-I am updating this as I am just liking the scent and really has not impressed me over time. 2.5/5 for me.

Skincare - Body -Gillette - Satin Care Shave Cream
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 9:11:00 AM

My fav shaving cream of all time! I cannot use store brands or Skintimate at all. Gillette Dry Skin and Bikini protection are the best for me but I can use any Satin Care version and it works great! No irritations, creamy lather and such a smooth result. Highly recommended and no burn whatsoever!

Tools -Gillette - Mach 3 Razor (Men's)
rated 5 of 5
onthemove 5/27/2007 9:07:00 AM

The queen of razors for me. I have tried them all but Mach 3 gives me the closest, smoothest shave time and again. Sure its a men's razor but who cares. It is so nice to have both my hubby and me using the same brand when it comes to purchasing the refills. I will never stray! (okay..I take that last comment back-Mach 3 is my second fave to my new Schick Quattro Titanium) but i still love it.
