Shampoo -Philip B. - Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo
ninaulrich 3/24/2011 5:59:00 AM
Finally I got to try this super expensive, luxurious shampoo. I was expecting so much from this, since I LOVE Philip B products in general. I tried a small sample of this and the RA conditioner. I started with a wash with the Peppermint & Avocado shampoo to clear my scalp, so I got loads of lather from RA, even though I used a tiny, tiny amount for my fine hair. It was a real pleasure to wash my hair with this super nourishing shampoo, and the smell is amazing. Once I towel dried my hair, I noticed it had a lot of body all of a sudden and it air dried straight and beautiful. With no use of any styling products or hair dryer I got amazing looking hair, full of body, texture, shine and softness. The hair that I want, so to speak! My hair has never been so conditioned and yet so full at the same time. For me, that is worth the crazy price tag. Since I used such a tiny amount, my sample is still almost full. I am so gonna buy the large tub of this and the conditioner! I can see that a tub is inconvenient in a small shower like mine, and it would have been nice if it came in squeeze tube like the conditioner. BUT, this doesn't matter much since the results are so amazing. I used it yesterday, and today my hair still looks really good, full and soft and healthy. I thought of only using this duo once a week, but honestly I can't wait to use it again! 5 lippies for a product I look forward to use this much. UPDATE - FEB. 10TH 2012: Still using and loving this and the conditioner. I'm not even halfway through my small tub, so I no longer think of it as insanely expensive. Paired it with the Katira masque today and got excellent results. I much prefer this combo as a weekly treatment instead of regular creamy masques, that tend to make my hair heavy and greasy. Russian Amber is a truly unique product and I will buy it again. Thank you Philip B!

Treatments -Philip B. - Rejuvenating Oil
ninaulrich 3/1/2011 8:23:00 AM
This is such a wonderful treatment. The thought of putting oil in my hair seemed scary at first, since my hair is fine and scalp prone to greasiness. But this makes my hair the softest it's ever been and NOT heavy. Absolutely no residue left, just soft, glowing, bouncy and healthy hair. I find it pretty easy to apply and wash out - although I do use a ton of the Peppermint & Avocado shampoo just in case. I follow up with the creme rinse and then a Katira masque. This gives me gorgeous results, better than with any other high end treatment. I'm used to quality brands and I've tried them all, but I can't believe how great Philip B works for my hair. Although the bottle is small and the entire product line is expensive, I will never use anything else again. Truely worth the money.

Conditioner -Philip B. - Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse
ninaulrich 2/21/2011 7:11:00 AM
I love this conditioner, like I love all the Philip B products I've tried. What's remarkable about this is that it sinks right into my hair once applied. It feels like it truly softens and penetrates my hair and not just sits on top of it. This is different from all the other high end conds I've used (and I've used a lot). The natural ingredients of this product actually feeds my hair, I think, giving it a wonderful natural shine while maintaining body. I use it after the Peppermint & Avocado shampoo, leave it on for 2 mins and my hair is perfect. The scent is wonderful too! I'm officially a Philip B fan now.

Treatments -Philip B. - Lovin' Leave-In
ninaulrich 2/16/2011 5:07:00 AM
What a nice product. I love leave-ins, and this is the best I've tried. I let my hair air dry and then run it through my lengths. Often I don't need any styling products as this makes my hair look so good. It softens, seems to straighten out my hair a bit and gives it body. NEVER leaves a greasy residue, even though my hair is fine and easily gets oily. I use this everyday, and it never builds up. I was using Kerastase Sublimateur Jour before, but this is sooo much better. Actually the product that got me hooked on to Philip B. Plus, I love the natural ingredients, wonderful smell and the classy tube. Will definitely buy again.

Shampoo -Philip B. - African Shea Butter Shampoo
ninaulrich 1/29/2011 8:34:00 AM
Very nice and gentle shampoo, the most moisturizing I've ever tried. For my fine hair, I think the trick is to use this WITHOUT any conditioner. Otherwise it would be too heavy probably. I like that I can just shampoo, use some leave in and that's it - my hair is soft and shiny. It gives a lot of body too actually, I don't feel the need to use any styling products after this. Very expensive but worth it. EDIT: For fine hair this MUST be alternated with another, more lightweight shampoo (like the Peppermint & Avocado). When used correctly African Shea Butter is a wonderful shampoo.

Hair Styling Tools -Mason Pearson - Pure Bristle Brush
ninaulrich 1/12/2011 8:40:00 AM
I never thought a hairbrush could make that much of a difference. I've got the pure bristle in pocket size and it must be one of the best buys I ever did for my hair. I've got fine hair with oily roots and dry, tangly ends - well not any more. This brush is so fantastic, it's glides through with no pain or damage and makes my hair so wonderfully soft and full. Best of all is that I no longer need to use dry shampoo on the days I don't wash - this brush removes the oil very well. I am SO glad I bought it and I will never use another brush again.

Styling Products -Philip B. - Maui Wowie Beach Mist

Definitely the best surf spray I've tried. Unlike Bumble and bumble, this one doesn't mattify or dry out my hair. Plus, the smell is so wonderful. Gives me soft, sexy, full-bodied locks. EDIT: I'm giving this 5 lippies. I can use this every day, and it never makes my hair greasy. My hair just looks ten times better when I use this spray. I looooove Philip B products!

Hair -Kerastase - Masquintense - Fine Hair
ninaulrich 12/10/2010 11:42:00 AM
I was afraid to try this for a long time, since I thought it would be too heavy for fine hair (like Bain Satin 1, which made it greasy). But now I've finally given in, and I'm really pleased with this masque. I have been using it as my regular conditioner for a week now, and my hair looks the best ever even though I really need a trim. It makes my hair SO soft, completely tangle free and shiny - it actually looks really healthy. And much to my surprise, it makes it feel slightly thicker too. One time I tried leaving it on for 10 minutes with heat, but I think this performs even better used as regular conditioner left on for 5 minutes (avoiding the roots). I just love Kerastase, they make me forget all about my split ends and make me think I have beautiful hair again :)

Shampoo -TiGi - Bed Head Dumb Blonde Shampoo
ninaulrich 11/5/2010 7:09:00 AM
I'm pretty surprised on the negative reviews of this. For me it's a really good shampoo. It surprised me that it doesn't weigh my hair down at all or make it greasy, because it's so nourishing. It makes my fine hair so soft, manageable and healthy-looking! Also it cleans really well - my hair stays clean much longer with this. Huge plus. But it lathers like hell, which I don't think is a good sign. I wish it was sulfate free, and the smell is a little over powering too. Even so, I really love the Dumb Blonde shampoo and I wanna use it every time I wash, but I alternate with S Factor Health Factor. Oh, and the bottle is cute and practical, and the price is REALLY dirt cheap.

Treatments -Bumble & Bumble - deeep treatment
ninaulrich 9/15/2010 5:41:00 AM
While the Creme de Coco masque doesn't impress me, Deep is better for my hair (fine, greasy roots, slightly damaged ends). I'm on my second tube and I've used it regularly for the past 3 years. Even though it is a protein treatment it hasn't overloaded or dried out my hair (yet). The smell is wonderful and the tube is very handy. Leaves my hair soft (I always follow up with a moisturizing cond.), stronger and fuller. It NEVER weighs it down, which is a huge plus for me. But it does take 20 minutes to work and that's too long I think. I apply it with heat and a towel wrapped around my hair, and it can be hard to find the time for that routine. There are other masks that works just as good but only takes like 5-10 minutes. Will keep going back to Deep, but I'm definitely feeling like trying other products as well.

Treatments -Bumble & Bumble - Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco Masque
ninaulrich 9/15/2010 5:31:00 AM
Hm, I really wanted to love this, but I don't. It's not terrible, but not great either (I'd give it 2.5 if i could). Actually I've bought this twice. The first time I only used it like four times, then I decided to sell it. But I so wanted to love it, so I bought it again (stupid) thinking "Maybe I didn't give it enough tries". Well, I've had this tube for 3 months now and I've used it regularly, but it never leaves my hair looking extraordinary. It softens and gives shine, yes, but my ends actually tangle a bit and my hair definitely goes flat and is harder to style. I know a lot of fine haired people love this, but it's not for me. A shame because it has a lot of wonderful ingredients, is thick and creamy and smells divine. Plus, I love B&b. But a deep conditioner that expensive should leave you with gorgeous hair, and this one just doesn't.

Conditioner -TiGi - Health Factor
ninaulrich 9/15/2010 4:46:00 AM
As with the shampoo, I am very, very pleased with this conditioner. It delivers moisture, strength (I believe) and shine to my hair while maintaining fullness. Even though it's for damaged/dry hair it doesn't contain proteins. I like that since I'm very concerned about not overloading my hair daily with proteins (I can get that from a leave in, if I need it). I've tried a tons of high end brands, and I've never been more thrilled about a duo before. Health Factor is really amazing, my fine hair looks SO good, sleek, full and beautiful even though I never blowdry, straighten or use any styling products. Can't wait to try the Balance Booster (got one free with my deal from Lookfantastic). HIGHLY recommended!

Shampoo -TiGi - Health Factor
ninaulrich 9/15/2010 4:07:00 AM
This shampoo, and the matching conditioner, is everything I've been looking for. I've got fine hair, oily roots and dry ends, with still some damage left from a bleach two years ago. I'm looking for a shampoo that gives me a lot of moisture but doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy. That is very hard to find, but Health Factor delivers! It gives me the softest hair ever that appears healthy, very shiny AND airy (people even commented on that). What's really amazing is that it air-dries completely straight and sleek (not in the flat or limp way, but like "i just got my ends trimmed"). I never use any heated tools, so this is a huge plus. After having used Health Factor my hair doesn't need any styling products! The texture of the shampoo is very thick and creamy, the smell is delicious and it feels so luxurious to use. It lathers very well considering it's sulfate free. I like the fact that it is very nourishing but without an overload of proteins, and this goes for the cond. too. I bought the big bottles (very good deal), and while I like the pump, I think they should make the bottles a little harder. They seem a bit fragile, but that's my only complaint. I will definitely repurchase - this is my HG!

Shampoo -TiGi - Superstar
ninaulrich 8/16/2010 1:53:00 PM
Wow, this shampoo (and matching conditioner) works so great for my fine hair. I noticed more body and volume immediately, even though I let my hair air dry. The best thing about Superstar is that I don't have to use a ton of styling products - I only use a bit of the Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff for extra shine and softness, and my hair looks the best! It makes my hair a lot easier to manage and keeps it from looking limp and lifeless. And finally, this gives me volume AND softness. I am almost through the small tube now, and I will repurchase the large size. I think it's really really cheap for a salon brand. Very impressed with TiGi so far. EDIT: I'm reducing this to 4 lippies. After about two months use I noticed my hair is getting oilier faster - probably because of the silicones. Still a good duo, but I need to rotate it with something more nourishing. I'm now using TiGi Health Factor, and will use Superstar occasionally.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Brilliantine
ninaulrich 8/6/2010 11:24:00 AM
This is a weird product. I've tried it a couple of times, and now I've given up. Did not work at all for my fine hair. Applied to dry hair it did kinda nothing - no shine, no visible effect. When used on damp hair it made it tangly and greasy looking. Guess I'm not a big fan of the separation effect, my hair ended up looking limp, thin and unhealthy. Definitely NOT a "sexy slept in" look. And it really expensive. Will NEVER repurchase! I like the smell and the package though. EDIT: Found a new way of using this, and it kinda works nicely now. I'm giving this 3 lippies instead of 1. I mix two tiny drops with Styling Creme, avoiding my roots, and blow dry my hair upside down. I get lots of volume and silky soft texture with a bit of a tousled look. Wouldn't buy this again though, but now I'll be able to finish my tube.
