Mascara -Clinique - Naturally Glossy Mascara

Great stuff! I have tried many brands, both high and low end, and this is definitely one of my faves so far. I already have dark and long lashes, and this gives them a beautiful extra boost. Not spidery or clumpy looking. Just lovely darkened and slightly thickened lashes. I would definitely buy this again.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Very High Sun Protection Cream SPF 50
rated 4 of 5

I have switched between this and Shiseido's Smooth SPF 36 for a few years now. I love that Japanese brands actually have a rating for the UVA protection (usually shown as something like PA+++ on the packaging), which is the type of sun exposure that gets BELOW the surface of the skin and causes photoaging. SPF ratings just refer to sunburn protection. I wish all other companies would use this system! If they don't...I simply don't try it. Back to the product... PROS: -no breakouts -no burning (even after spending a week on a beach in Hawaii!!!!) -soft matte finish -does leave a sheer white cast...but I am so pale that it works for me by evening out my skintone. -It works and has definitely helped my skin stay nice and unwrinkled. I'm 36 and look about 10 years younger. CONS: -you have to use an extra cleanser to remove it. I usually use the oil cleanser by DHC, which is nice and doesn't cause breakouts -it's a bit drying...but not as drying as others that I've used, so I stick with the Shiseido. ****It works and has definitely helped my skin stay nice and unwrinkled. I'm 36 and look about 10 years younger.

Cleansers -MAC - Cleanse Off Oil
rated 3 of 5

Didn't work for me. I was looking for a cleansing oil that would remove my waterproof sunscreen (Shiseido) and this didn't work for that. Even after cleansing my face 3 times in a row (!!!) with it one night, I STILL had sunscreen on my face. I like cleansing oils, but good ones seem a bit hard to locate, so I was really hoping that this would work since there are several MAC counters/stores in my area. I'll just stick with my usual oils by DHC and Fancl, which I have to order by mail (not convenient, imo), but I KNOW that they work well.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Flying Fox Shower Gel
rated 3 of 5

I liked it initially, but then the jasmine scent just became incredibly overwhelming rather than comforting or sexy...so I stopped using it and it ended up becoming my overpriced, overly-scented hand soap. I would never buy it again.

Styling Products -Aveda - Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
rated 4 of 5
muse97 1/20/2009 10:42:00 PM

So far, I am LOVING this! I have been trying to find a hair care routine that will smooth out my thick and poofy hair, and this...along with Aveda's Smooth Infusion shampoo and conditioner... really does the trick. I have nice shine and zero frizz! This helps to reduce the natural bulkiness of my hair nicely, and now I feel like I am wearing my hair, rather than my hair is wearing me (ladies with hard to manage hair will know what that means ;D). I have very thick, color-treated, naturally wavy hair that is on the dry-side. It's a nice and light serum that doesn't weigh my hair down and make it feel greasy. Nice stuff!

Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - Jasmine Oil Serum
rated 2 of 5

Ugh! I am so annoyed that I tried this stuff! It is so insanely expensive!!!! I didn't find that it was any better than other serums that I have tried for my thick hair. The packaging is awful. The glass bottle fell off of my bathroom counter and broke, spilling some of the product. A plastic bottle, while not as 'luxurious,' would be an improvement. Honestly, I think that Frizz-Ease and the frizz serum by CitiShine are just as effective...and FAR less expensive!

Conditioner -Aveda - Smooth Infusion

So far, I am LOVING this line from Aveda! I have been trying to find a hair care routine that will smooth out my thick and poofy hair, and this really does the trick. I have nice shine and zero frizz! This reduces the natural bulkiness of my hair nicely, and now I feel like I am wearing my hair, rather than my hair is wearing me (ladies with hard to manage hair will know what that means ;D). I have very thick, color-treated, naturally wavy hair that is on the dry-side. I usually only wash my hair twice a week, due to it's bulk and dryness. These Smooth Infusion products (shampoo, conditioner, and smoothing serum) have not caused my hair color to fade, as far as I can tell. These products have also made my hair easier to style. I just don't think that they'd be appropriate for finer hair, unless you want it to be SUPER flat!

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Protection Sun Protection Lip Care SPF 30
rated 2 of 5

Would I buy this again? OH. HECK. NO. This made my lips paler due to the sunscreen it contains. Maybe if I were a lipstick wearer that wouldn't bother me. But, I'm already pale as it is...so this made me look ill. No thanks, Nivea.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Liquid Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Formula
rated 4 of 5
muse97 12/16/2008 4:17:00 PM

Update May 4, 2011: I knocked off one star since it stings if it gets in my eyes. I have also stopped using this, and am far more impressed by Bubble & Bee's Pineapple Face wash, which is also glycerin based. The diff is that I can use the B&B cleanser on my eyes without any irritation, and the addition of pineapple enzymes helps keep my pores clear. It's ingredients are far more natural and the B&B cleanser is far more effective. Wow!!! I am impressed. I get bored with products, and have tried many frou-frou overpriced 'high-end' cleansers over the years. BUT THIS is a huge winner! I love it! It leaves my skin perfectly and comfortably squeaky clean! This is really helping keep my clog-prone pores clear. Unlike Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Cleanser, it does not leave my skin feeling dry. My skin is so smooth since I've been using this! I think that I have found the facial cleanser that I am finally going to stick with.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser Mask
rated 3 of 5

My husband and I had been using this for a while, and loved it, until we realized that the benzoyl peroxide in it was the cause for the mysterious bleached spots on our clothing, towels, etc. Too bad, because it worked nicely OTHER than THAT.

Moisturizers -Korres - Honey Thyme Moisturizing Cream
rated 4 of 5
muse97 12/16/2008 4:00:00 PM

Nice. The natural scent from the honey is comforting (I have a major sweet tooth). Left my skin comfortably soft. Did not cause any breakouts or clogged pores. But, I prefer the Korres 24-Hour Rose moisturiser. This one is not quite as hydrating, and did not absorb as readily. But, it's still nice, and I'd probably use it in warmer weather.

Moisturizers -Korres - Yogurt Cream (Yoghurt Cream)
rated 3 of 5
muse97 12/16/2008 3:55:00 PM

The only Korres moisturizer that I've tried and NOT liked. It did not absorb into my skin like the others, but instead sat on top and felt sticky. No thanks. I'll stick to the Alpine Herbs, 24-Hour Rose, and Honey &Thyme Korres moisturisers.

Moisturizers -Korres - Alpine Herbs Anti-Stress Energizer
rated 4 of 5
muse97 12/16/2008 3:52:00 PM

I really like this cream and have repurchased it several times. In warmer weather, it's fantastic for my psycho combination skin (oily and acne-prone t-zone; very dry cheeks). It absorbs into my skin nicely, does not cause me any breakouts or clogged pores, and leave my skin comfortably hydrated. Good stuff!

I'm on my third jar of this. I really like it! I had been using Eucerin's Anti-Wrinkle Cream for Sensitive Skin, but stopped after a few weeks because it clogged my pores like crazy! With this lovely cream, I have absolutley no breakout problems, and my skin is comfortably soft, smooth, and glowy.
