Eye Shadow -Black Radiance - downtown browns
missykeyana 8/9/2012 4:35:00 AM
This 8-pan palette is very interesting. I'm going to break this palette down by shade. Let's pretend that the picture provided is numbered down 1-4 on the left and 5-8 on the right. 1. Left browbone shade - This shows up on me as a light silvery white-beige. Smooth and blendable, it's a great if very cool-leaning highlight for the tearduct and browbone. 2. Left eyelid shade - This color is beautiful! This purpley-taupe is worth the cost of admission! It would look good on a variety of skintones. On me, it looks good as a one-and-done look or with one of the deeper shades in my outer V. 3. Left crease shade - This shade sucks. I can't get it to show up on my lid. It's a semi-matte purple. Ugh. 4. Left accent shade - Really nice neutral bronzy brown. I can use this as a one-and-done quick eye or create a smokey eye with the deeper shades. However, it does not look good as a traditional accent color on me. I tried a eye look with shade 2 with this in the outer V and it was a muddy mess. 5. Left browbone shade - This shade is not one of my favorites. It is a light champagne-ish satin with sparkle (GLITTAH!). Not a lot of pigmentation with this one. 6. Right eyelid shade - A dark purple satin shade, it looks absolutely terrible on my eyelids. However, it looks great in the outer V with shades 1, 2, & 4. 7. Right crease shade - This is an blackened purple with a bit of purple sparkle. To me, it looks almost exactly the same as shade 6 with the addition of shimmer. Generally serves the same purpose as shade 6 in my eyeshadow looks. Also looks good as a liner. 8. Right accent shade - This is a blackened olive green with green glitter. Good in the outer V and as a liner. Overall pros: *Most of the shades are pigmented and buttery with the exception of 3 & 5 *Shade #2. What a nice color! *Can create a variety of looks Overall cons: *These are mostly purple shadows. Purple shadows seem to have a little less pigmentation and be a little harder to work with in general. *Shades 3 & 5 SUCK. *Shades 7 & 8 can look very similar on the eye *You will absolutely need a primer, or you'll not get the pigmentation you want. *Darker shades have a lot of fallout. *Why is this called Downtown Browns when there's only one legit brown in the bunch? Overall, I think that the colors in this palette can be workable for a variety of skintones because of the generally neutral-leaning shades. It's generally a good but not great palette. If I would (and I may) depot this, I'd throw shades 3, 5, and possibly 6 or 7 in the garbage. Also, I'm not thrilled with these generally identical palettes being priced $2 higher than Wet 'n' Wild. I don't regret buying this palette, especially since I stumbled upon it CVS marked down to $3.49. However, I would not buy it at full price. I'd buy it again (on sale) because I really like shades 1, 2, & 4.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Panther
missykeyana 8/5/2012 1:53:00 AM
One of Wet 'n' Wild's best eyeshadows, which is saying a lot with their great offerings. Pigmented matte black that is great for smokey eye looks and setting eyeliner. Try it; for around two dollars you won't regret it.

Cleansers -Dove - Beauty Bar - Sensitive Skin
missykeyana 8/5/2012 1:27:00 AM
My mom and I have eczema, and neither of us can deal much with heavily scented beauty products. We've always had some variety of Dove beauty bars at our respective homes for a long time, and this particular bar is a good option for the most sensitive of skins. I generally prefer the original (I like the gentle scent) and especially the Winter Care (I'm hoarding this next winter for sure), but I have used many bars of this to get clean without irritating my skin any further.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - FastDry - Teal of Fortune
missykeyana 8/4/2012 8:20:00 PM
This color is such a pretty teal with shimmery flecks. It dried fast enough for me, though i always give my polishes a little time to set before going about my day. I didn't have problems with stained nails, but I always use a basecoat with any polish. It lasted 3-4 days before my manicure started chipping. Overall, a pretty color and a great value! FYI: I recommend that before you buy a polish, open it and take a look at the brush. Wet 'n' Wild sometimes has quality control issues with their brushes.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
missykeyana 8/4/2012 8:06:00 PM
This, dare I say it, is my Holy Grail mascara. Old Reliable. I can always count on this mascara for a lovely lash look. My lashes are average in every way and FnS gives them a boost without making them look made up. It's also a good mascara for the lower lashes. I love the brush because it is bristly and simple, not gimmicky. And get this - it actually leaves your lashes soft like it says it will.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - Cherry Tart
missykeyana 8/4/2012 7:57:00 PM
One of my favorite lip butters! This color manages to show up red on my super-pigmented lips while managing to be easy enough to swipe on without a mirror without looking garish. Great everyday red. The glitter is a small drawback, but not enough for me to deduct a lippie. I like this red for when I want to do a little more with my eyes than mascara and liner, but still have red lips. It's also purse-worthy for a quick pick-me-up on otherwise makeup-less days. Cherry Tart works much better for me than Candy Apple because it is a berry red instead of a tomato red. I will wear this down to the nub and then buy another!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Diamond Lust Eye Shadow

I bought this in Neptune Star and it was so beautiful in the container, but the color didn't translate to my lids and the glitter got all over my face. I returned this to Ulta.

Other -Black Radiance - Black Radiance cosmetics- entire line
missykeyana 8/4/2012 12:08:00 PM
This brand is FAB. I encourage all of you to try the baked blushes! I currently own Toasted Almond, Plum Sorbet, and Warm Berry, and I love all three. I also have the baked bronzer in Gingersnap, and it is also really good. This is a brand that has some unusual colors for the drugstore in blush and bronzer, which is awesome for the budget makeup lover (like me!) I also own three of their lipsticks, which are really pigmented and thick. They are not as creamy as Revlon Super Lustrous, but there are a variety of colors. I only have two complaints: 1. Like its sister company, Wet 'n' Wild, the packaging sucks on some of the products. 2. These products are priced higher than WNW, which I think stinks for some of the products that are basically identical except for color. There also aren't as many sales for Black Radiance in stores, though that may be more a store thing than a BR thing. There are a variety of good products in this line that are worth a try, like the eyeshadows and pressed powders. To me, the definite standouts are the lip products, blushes, and bronzers.

Blush -Milani - Smooth Finish Blush - Luminous
missykeyana 8/4/2012 10:36:00 AM
This blush has a nice color, blends into the face well, and lasts all day. Unfortunately, it's really too light on me to be a blush, and I don't use highlighters on my oily face much, so I swapped this away.

Polishes -Sinful - Mint Apple
missykeyana 8/3/2012 7:56:00 PM
This color is so pretty - jade with shimmer. The shimmers help the color look lively instead of flat. It dries a little darker on the nails than in the bottle, which I don't mind because the color looks richer to me. This polish is definitely at least a two-coater - the first coat looks thin and streaky, but the second coat evens things out. Wear time is good. It lasted 4 -5 days on my nails with only tip wear when I removed it. (I always use base and top coat) For $1.99 (or $.99 on sale!) I recommend this to anyone looking for a jade/light teal/mint green.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color in Flawless
missykeyana 8/3/2012 5:54:00 PM
Is there a difference between this product and the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Hardener in Clear? If it is, then I used this as a clear coat to make my matte neon polish shiny. It worked well and I'd buy it again for this purpose.

Blush -Black Radiance - Artisan Color Baked Blush in Warm Berry
missykeyana 8/3/2012 5:32:00 PM
Super pigmented! One tap of your brush and you'll have a lovely reddish flush on your cheeks. It may take a bit of practice to get the look you desire, but for ~$5 I think it's worth a try. This could look good on a variety of skintones.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength Nail Strengthener (Clear)
missykeyana 8/3/2012 4:42:00 PM
I used this polish as a clear coat to add shine to my matte neon polish. For this manicure, I used one coat base, two coats color, one coat of this product, and one coat of a quick drying top coat. It made my manicure shiny without causing early chipping or peeling. I will continue to use and repurchase for this purpose.

Cleansers -Juice Beauty - Cleansing gel for oily/combination
missykeyana 8/1/2012 1:40:00 PM
I received a sample of this in a swap. Upon opening it, I first noticed the smell. Its very....juicy! It cleans well and my face was left clean but not stripped. This cleanser is balanced between effectiveness and gentleness. I will not purchase a full size because I already have effective cleansers in my arsenal, however, I recommend this to those who are looking for a organic, plant-based cleanser.

Moisturizers -Juice Beauty - Oil-Free Moisturizer
missykeyana 8/1/2012 1:39:00 PM
received a sample of this in a swap. When I first applied this to my face, it was very sticky, but as I rubbed it into my face, it soaked in nicely. I applied it at night, and when I woke up the next morning, my face felt soft and moisturized. Though I enjoyed this sample, I will not purchase a full size because I have a great nighttime moisturizer, but I recommend this to those who need a good organic moisturizer.
