Cleansers -Fresh - Soy Face Cleanser
mimimachine 2/13/2010 2:00:00 AM
The main (and recurring) reason I do not buy Fresh products is their massive overpricing. I got this as a sample from Sephora and there is absolutely nothing in this that is worth the extremely high price tag. This is a cleanser and the idea of washing my money down the drain--literally--is just stupid. I will spend money on treatments and creams but not a cleanser. For the price, I expect something extraordinary and this is really nothing more than a decent cleanser. It did remove my waterproof mascara and didn't dry out my skin. I felt clean and makeup free after using it but there was no difference between this and any cleanser from L'Oreal or Olay. Don't waste your money. Not worth it. I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices that Fresh has set for their products. With the rate they are going, I'm surprised they're not out of business.

Treatments -Skyn Iceland - Nordic Skin Peel
mimimachine 2/5/2010 11:59:00 PM
I bought this at Sephora as I'm finding I'm really liking the majority of Skyn Iceland's products. I wanted something to refine my pores and exfoliate my skin without stripping it of moisture. I live in Canada and we have harsh winters. My skin is combination with breakouts around the time of my period. This peel leaves my skin feeling soft, glowy and clean. I've been using it about a week and I'm starting to see a difference in the texture of my skin. I am 29 but don't have many lines or wrinkles but I would definitely like to minimize my pores in the t zone. This combined with Dr. Brandt's Pore Vacuum treatment is great. The pads do not burn, they don't dry me out, and I like how soft my skin feels afterwards. Can't wait to see what results I will have after a month. My only complaint is the packaging. It's hard to pull one pad out at a time. They should find a way to seperate them somehow. Another reviewer mentioned they use half a pad. I might try this as I think half a pad will easily cover my whole face. The price is good for 60 pads. Finally, a nice gentle peel on the market!

Primer/ Corrector -Skinn Cosmetics - Orchid Gel Mattefying Day Treatment Seal
mimimachine 12/27/2009 4:02:00 PM
I have received Orchid Gel twice in kits from The Shopping Channel (Canada) and I think this is a good product IF you wear it alone or over moisturizer. As soon as you try to put makeup over it, it is absolute garbage. Listening to Dimitri James hawk his products on TSC, you would think this stuff is a miracle in a jar but the fact of the matter is that there are much better primers out there. When I wear this alone, it definitely minimizes the look of pores and smooths my skin but the effect doesn't last that long--certainly not all day as the product claims. However, and this is my HUGE problem with Orchid Gel, when you put foundation or concealer over this (or blush or bronzer), it makes your face look caked, affects the blendability of your foundation, makes things sit on my face in a very unattractive way (making it obvious that I'm wearing makeup) and then, after about an hour, start to kind of rub off and look gross. Not only that, this does NOTHING to keep my make up on my face. I put this under my Cargo foundation and Too Faced Snow Bunny bronzer about an hour ago and now look like I have a pound of makeup on my face. I wear those two products every day WITHOUT Orchid Gel and never look like my makeup is caked on like it does right now. In fact, I'm tempted to wash my face. Dimitri James does have some great products in his Skinn line (like Dermappeal) but unfortunately, he is a good talker and a good seller and has convinced many women that his products are something they are not. I will not buy this again. Ever.

Skincare - Face -Skinn Cosmetics - Olive and Enzyme Rich Balm Cleanser
mimimachine 12/18/2009 8:30:00 PM
As the other reviewer said, I dont feel like this takes off my makeup and thoroughly cleans my skin but it is GREAT as a face mask. I have bought kits of Skinn products from the Shopping Channel and have used this in combination with Skinn's Dermappeal scrub and they work great together. However, as a day to day cleanser without the scrub, it's too... balmy. It almost feels like it leaves a greasy residue on my face which I think would be great if you have dry skin as it would give you that extra moisturizing boost but I have combo skin and I like my skin to feel cleansed and clean after I wash it! As a mask, I felt like it exfoliated and tightened my pores and in general, I am a fan of Skinn's skincare products (the makeup is horrible) so I'd buy it again if it was part of another kit. But I wouldn't buy it on its own.

Cleansers -Skyn Iceland - Glacial Cleansing Cloths
mimimachine 12/18/2009 8:25:00 PM
Sometimes we all feel lazy or tired and don't want to take our makeup off. So I always keep some kind of cleansing cloths around and tried these out because they're not too horribly expensive compared to the rest of the Skyn Iceland line. They took every drop of makeup off my face including my waterproof mascara but they are very drying. Quite frankly, I don't see a difference between these cloths and Garnier's Nutritioniste cloths--except the price. Again, I think Skyn Iceland is a line that is just not suited to my combination skin tone (which leans towards dry in spots in winter time) because I feel like their products just suck the moisture from my face. I would buy these again for use in summer when my skin doesn't get that winter dryness and I was impressed with how well they took all trace of makeup off. Edited to add that I have bought a package of these and love them. i realized i was using them wrong! you are supposed to rub them together to create a lather instead of just wiping and i was not doing this! I'm liking them a lot more now and adding a lippy. Not giving them five lippies because they are a bit drying and when you have a LOT of make up on ie. for a night out, you need more than one of these to get it all off. They definitely get the makeup off clean though! They are not nearly as drying as they were when I first used them, possibly because I am using them as directed. Skyn has also reformulated a few of their products and this could be one of them. Loving Skyn Iceland more and more!

Treatments -Skyn Iceland - Oxygen Infusion Night Cream
mimimachine 12/18/2009 8:19:00 PM
Thankfully I didn't shell out the $75 for this cream and got a sizeable sample of it instead. It BURNS. And I mean BURNS. I have combination skin which tends to be on the drier side. I guess Skyn Iceland products are made more for those with oily skin because I find them all very drying. Even now, my skin feels tight and dry in areas and I put a liberal amount of this on my face. I'm not sure what's in it that made it burn the way it did but it was not a nice sensation. For about 5 minutes, I felt like my face was on fire and then it faded away. I gave it three lippies because it has a nice smoothing effect and I think it'd be a great cream for those with oily skin. Edited 10/09/10: I have given this another chance and I need to say that I love it. I think I got a bad batch when I tried this before because this one does NOT burn the way my first attempt with this cream did. My skin is incredible smooth, it's not greasy and I'm going to buy a jar (had a very generous sample from Sephora). I think Skyn may have reformulated this because it's lovely.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Totally Toasted
mimimachine 12/13/2009 10:28:00 PM
I am light skinned with very dark brown eyes and have a tendency to wear a lot of bronzy browns for everyday looks. I think Totally Toasted is absolutely beautiful. It has lots of pigment, blends super easily, and stays on for hours without primer. The lighter shade is great as a highlighter. Totally Toasted was the first Too Faced eye shadow I used and it made me go out and buy a couple more because their eye shadows are great. This made me eyes stand right out.

Lipstick -Too Faced - Lip of Luxury - Free Love
mimimachine 12/13/2009 10:23:00 PM
Gorgeous pink. I absolutely love this. I am light (fair) and blonde (not naturally blonde) and this is just lovely. The color stays on for a long time too but I found it a bit drying (as long lasting lipsticks tend to be). It has a nice little glow to it. It kind of reminds me of Bombshell from MAC. I used MAC's Dervish lip liner to line my lips and then put Free Love over that and it looked awesome. I also used it while wearing Too Faced's Sun Bunny and Snow Bunny and it looked great with those too.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Pink Leopard Bronzing Powder
mimimachine 12/13/2009 10:17:00 PM
I got Pink Leopard in the French & Fabulous palette and I love it. I typically use it more as a highlighter over top of Sun Bunny or Snow Bunny as it has quite a bit of shine. More shine than Snow Bunny for sure. It stays on my face really nicely and looks awesome. All of Too Faced's bronzers look natural and sexy and I love Pink Leopard just as much as the others I've tried so far. As someone else mentioned, if you have large pores, I would not recommend this because of the shine level. It's also good as a blush as it has quite a bit of pink in it. Pretty packaging. Too Faced's packaging always rules.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Snow Bunny
mimimachine 12/13/2009 5:06:00 PM
I love Snow Bunny! This actually makes me look like I came in fresh off the slopes from skiing--with that pretty Wintery sun glow. I have light skin and I find this looks natural and great in photographs, giving me a glow. Apply with a lighter hand though--too much and the shine goes on overload. I think it has the perfect amount of glimmer as long as you apply it correctly. Great product and adorable packaging. Yet again, I am impressed with Too Faced's products.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Caribbean in a Compact in Sun Bunny
mimimachine 11/25/2009 7:48:00 PM
I got Sun Bunny in the French & Fabulous palette and it is my first experience with a bronzer. I am very light skinned (a shade about the fairest of fair shades) and in the winter, I start to look almost unhealthy! I was a little nervous at first because I didn't want to look orange but this stuff is impressive! I dusted it along my cheek bones, nose, forehead and chin (where the sun would normally hit) and I instantly looked like I had a healthy tanned glow. It's not shiny or shimmery and so it doesn't make me look like I have an oil slick on my face and it definitely looks natural. I'm very impressed and when I run out of what is in the palette, I will buy the full size. It doesn't look that interesting in the container but don't be fooled--this is a GREAT bronzer! Easy to blend and apply.

Lip Treatments -Too Faced - Lip Injection
mimimachine 11/21/2009 12:24:00 AM
Well, we all know that sometimes looking great can be a little uncomfortable and this lip plumper has quite the burn! However, IT WORKS. My lips are about average sized but my upper lip could use a bit of plump. I have tried other plumpers like DuWop and thought they were okay but in general, I've had my doubts about lip plumpers working. Lip Injection stings like crazy and you need to be careful to keep it from getting on the skin around your lips because it will turn it red. But my lips are noticeable plumper, especially if I reapply it a few times throughout the day. Even my husband noticed that they looked fuller. I would definitely buy it again. After the sting wears away, it's a lovely shiny gloss that never gets goopy.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
mimimachine 8/26/2009 11:48:00 PM
It has taken me years to find a concealer that covers up the really dark circles I have under my eyes. Without concealer, I literally look like I have two black eyes. Most concealers that offer good coverage are too heavy and settle into the very few fine lines that I have under my eyes. I have tried everything from MAC to NARS to Chanel to drugstore brands. None of them worked as well as Erase Paste does to cover up those circles. It also stays on well. I follow it up with MAC's StudioFix powder and I rarely have to reapply. It does not dry out my skin or settle into fine lines. I also use it to cover the occasional blemish and do the 'cat whisker' trick that is on the package instructions to even out my skin tone a bit. This stuff is great. Not a big fan of the packaging because I don't think dipping my finger into the pot over and over is the best hygenically but other than that, I have no complaints. It is slightly expensive but I use my pot every day and it is still 3/4 full--I bought it several months ago. I will absolutely keep buying this.
