Lotions/ Creams -Perlier - Honey recipe for the hands, with virgin beeswax
rated 4 of 5
majanet 8/3/2005 1:14:00 PM

I keep a tube of this handcream in my car's glove compartment. It's has good texture, and the fragrance is not too much for me - soft, warm, but not entirely sweet.

Bath Treatments -Perlier - Honey Cream Bath/Bagno Crema al Miele
rated 5 of 5
majanet 8/3/2005 1:11:00 PM

This is my favorite bath product - I've been using it for more than 10 years. Massaging it into your skin before showering or bathing can also have a moisturizing effect. The fragrance is soft, warm, but not overpowering. I usually stock up when I see it at Marshalls or TJ Maxx - try the bottles if you can find them, as the squeeze bottle is easier to use and keep neat than the jar.

Fragrances -Coty - Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker

A pleasant surprise in the ocean of celeb perfumes (has anyone noticed how many of those smell like fruit shampoo?), but alas not for me. The nordy's paper insert was bait for me, and so I decided to give it a whirl. While I did not find it to be as musky as Narciso Rodriguez, it doesn't have to be for it not to work on me. The florals in the top notes are delightful, but I would have liked more floral and just a hint of the musk.

Lipstick -Chanel - Hydracaresse Hydra-treatment lipstick in Pink Sugar
rated 4 of 5
majanet 5/23/2005 10:35:00 AM

This warm light rose shade leaves behind a deeper rose stain on the lips - no bleeding of either the lipstick or the stain. The sunscreen, Padimate O, may cause allergic reaction to some people (lip peeling). Also, after 3 tubes, I've never had an applicator which didn't fall apart in a matter of weeks. Pink Sugar doesn't make for a good handbag liner.

Lip Gloss -Cargo - Bora Bora Lip Gloss
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/19/2005 12:14:00 PM

Cargo's Bora Bora lip gloss has two gorgeous but shortlived colors - a winish neutral and a very sparkly (but not stripper-sparkly) pink. The container size didn't bother me so much; it was consolation for the ridiculous price. It does have a fragrance, but it's not bad.

Lip Liners -Chanel - Precision Lip Definer Nude
rated 5 of 5
majanet 5/19/2005 12:09:00 PM

Chanel's Nude lip pencil is the best pencil I have used. Always goes on smooth, and the color is even better for the full lip than as a liner. The only downside is in the packaging; those caps fall off easily.

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Cupcake
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 7:22:00 PM

I bought Cupcake because it was a deep neutral (for fair-skinned people) in a formula that has worked well for me. And yet, I almost never wear it - it's a bit too flat/opaque on my lips. It probably works well for less pale, less pinky-blue skin.

Lipstick -Clinique - Moisture Surge Lipstick- Just Gorgeous
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 7:17:00 PM

This is a tough one. Just Gorgeous is a very aptly named color, at least for my skin. I loved it from tube to lips... until the bleed and slide started. Could be my bad luck with any Clinique formula other than "Different", but I had terrible, sloshy, orangey bleed. I also haven't been able to find a tube since mid 2004 - I was told at my local counter that it has been discontinued.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last - Blushing Nude
rated 4 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 7:14:00 PM

Blushing Nude is slightly pink neutral - goes on very smooth, does not wear for very long. A flattering shade for fair-skinned women. If you like the hue but would prefer a deeper color, try Paula Dorf's Gilda.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Lipstick - All Heart
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 7:11:00 PM

I started wearing this color back in 98, and loved it. Unfortunately, the formula did not agree with my lips (peeling and chapping) and I have since stopped using it. A warm rosy lip color. Inviting.

Lipstick -Clinique - Moisture Surge SPF 15 in Dipped Brown Sugar
rated 4 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 7:08:00 PM

I bought a tube after buying the Clinique "A Case for Luxury" compact in a duty-free shop. The other lipcolor was a screaming 80's new wave plum (Plum Matte), but Brown Sugar was great. Berry-brown frost on, it wears well - the afterstain is attractive, not worn looking. It was labeled simply "Brown Sugar".

Shampoo -Fresh - Soda Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 6:59:00 PM

I'm a Fresh fan, but was not impressed with this shampoo - particularly for the price. I have an oily scalp and fine hair past the shoulders. I found that the shampoo barely cleaned my scalp (I was oily the next day).

Shampoo -Clinique - Exceptionally Clean shampoo
rated 5 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 6:55:00 PM

I love this shampoo. I have a very oily scalp, and past-shoulder length, fine hair. I can go three days without washing - a good thing for long hair with any kind of shampoo. For the people who had the straw experience, I found using a leave-in conditioner/treatment to be a good way around it. I coupled this with Fresh Hair Cream, and get soft shiny results every time. The bottle leaves a lot to be desired, though, as the cap can be a challenge mid-shower.

Lipstick -Clinique - Color Surge Bare Brilliance in Pink Beach
rated 3 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 2:31:00 PM

got this as a GWP. Glitter in lipstick is great when you're 8, or in a disco revival show, but it's scratchy and takes away from the nice warm peach/pink base color. This wears off fast, only to leave little glitter pieces behind.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Bare Stain lipstick
rated 2 of 5
majanet 5/18/2005 1:34:00 PM

My first foray into Bobbi Brown lipstick was Bare Stain. It may not be my last, but I won't go BareStain again. This caused my lips to peel, and was more orange-toned that the tube would indicate.
