Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft and Smooth Lipcolor in 250 Tender Pink
lucyrox 1/29/2009 2:26:00 PM
I absolutely love this beautiful shade of pink lipstick. This pink has a really nice sheen to it with silver undertones. It's great for everyday use on my pale skin. I need to use a nude or pinkish lip liner in order to give this light color definition, and I also am very generous with applying many coats for the gorgeous color to show up (that's why I only rated this 4 stars). The staying power is really excellent also. I will buy again and probably soon, because it's been my go-to neutral pink for months.

Polishes -Color Club - Magic Attraction
lucyrox 1/28/2009 6:55:00 PM
Color club magic attraction is a gorgeous (clear) color loaded with multi-color sparkles (you just have to see a picture of this in my profile to see the full beautiful effect). This is a nice and thin nail polish that is easy to apply. I painted my nails with Revlon pure pearl, which is a pearly white, and then put one even coat of magic attraction on top. My nails have not chipped in 5, yes 5! days and especially look sparkly and really cool in the sunlight or night time lights. I found all my sparkly Color Club polishes for $2.50 USD on the website Head-2-Toe beauty.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
lucyrox 1/15/2009 1:30:00 PM
This new mascara is nothing special. It doesn't give me extra length or volume, just gives a boring natural lash look. I want BIG volume in my mascara, not a natural lash look. The price is around $7.00, which is reasonable. I like the small-sized wand also. I won't buy again, and I'll stick to my HG mascara's for now, which are NYX Doll Eye Volume and Max Factor Volume Couture.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Provence Pigment
lucyrox 1/11/2009 1:46:00 PM
I can't believe the good reviews for this horrible pigment. It is the worst MAC pigment I've ever tried. It is a nude color. The color of skin. This applies chalky and is supposed to have shimmer or slight sparkle or something....but doesn't show up on eyes as anything but a nude chalky eyeshadow. I'll stick with my other MAC pigments that I love, which are many, but I wouldn't recommend or buy this one again. UPDATE: I've change my mind about hating this pigment, I find that it is a very light yellow/off-white, which is great for applying and blending eyeshadow from the crease of the eye to the eyebrow. The slight sparkle only shows up in sunlight, and would be invisible at night. I'm happy that I have found a very important use for this pigment and that I gave it a 2nd chance.

Blush -Urban Decay - Quickie Afterglow Blush
lucyrox 1/11/2009 1:38:00 PM
Ooh la la! This a such a beautiful formula that glides on my skin and creates a flawless, healthy pink glow. Quickie is a muted bubble gum pink, with very slight shimmer. It's hard to find a 'real' pinky-pink blush, Urban Decay hit this right on the mark! My skin tone is very fair, and this color makes me look like I've just come from outside on a cold and snowy day. You know, that healthy pink flush? I think this color would compliment many skin tones. The circular container is very lightweight and slightly cheap, while the price was a reasonable $17.00 US dollars. I will buy again. *UPDATE* After using this for many months, I'm finding that it may be too pigmented and hard-to-blend. I had to lower my rating to 4 stars. *AND* I use a great blush brush (Mac) so it's the blush.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - moisturizing foundation
lucyrox 1/11/2009 12:59:00 PM
I can't believe this foundation costs $42.00 (US dollars). Such a waste of money. This foundation is moisturizing and applies like a dream, and glides easily on my skin. It is very buildable which creates medium or full coverage. The first hour of wear is fantastic, with smooth and beautiful flawless coverage. BUT: my beautiful flawless coverage only lasted for 3 hours. Yes, $42.00 and 3 hours later, this disappeared from my nose and mouth area, and was blotchy on my cheeks and under eye area. I have a right to expect miracles for $42.00. I don't want to use primer b/c I believe a great foundation doesn't need primer. Anyway, I prime with an emollient sunscreen under my foundation. I'll stick with my HG foundation for now, which is MUFE HD foundation #110. FYI: I bought LM moisturizing fdtn. in porcelain ivory, the lightest color.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible 6-Hour Lip Gloss in Sunset
lucyrox 10/20/2008 7:37:00 PM
I am a huge MAC fan and adore their lipglosses, so I was hesitant to try out a new brand of lipgloss. I absolutely love this lipgloss even more than my MAC glosses. Sunset is a medium peach color with shimmer. The formula goes on really smoothly and the staying power is unbelievable!! I am talking *hours* of staying power, even through drinking and eating. I'm so shocked how great this lipgloss is. I will definitely buy again, and probably phase out MAC's glosses in my collection. These cost around $8 US, but I bought two at my CVS with their 'buy one get one half off'.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
lucyrox 10/20/2008 7:26:00 PM
I use MUFE face and body #20, and when I went to Sephora to buy another bottle, I spotted the HD fdtn. and thought I'd give it a try. I am a MAC NW 15 and bought the lightest color, #110. The formula is extremely THICK and hard to spread. I can *not* use my MAC foundation brush b/c the formula is too thick. It does have beautiful coverage, but is very DRY on the skin, and has a tendency to ball up when applying. ICK. I will return this and go back to my regular Face and Body foundation, which I love love love, and gives me a dewy complexion with medium coverage that I love. UPDATE: 1/09: I apply this now with MAC's oval sponge for liquid and creme foundation, and this is the secret to making the foundation gloriously flawless with full coverage. Make sure to blend well with the foundation sponge, esp on your dry areas like around the eyes. I even swipe the sponge on my eyelids and it works great as an eyeshadow primer (no need for Urban Decay Primer Potion). Now I adore this foundation, it's staying power is terrific as well as, it's flawless coverage. I still only rate this 4 stars (maybe 4 and 1/2) b/c it is drying on the dry parts of my face (upper cheeks). I just make sure to use a tweeny amount on that dry area, and buff it really well with the sponge applicator. No other foundation can compare to MUFE HD, it's worth every penny of the $40.00 US dollars, and I love the pump bottle. UPDATE: 2/09: I am thrilled to say that Revlon Colorstay is an exact duplicate of this foundation and only cost $12.00 USD (please see my review for more info).

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes Waterproof #17L Pistacchio
lucyrox 6/24/2008 2:39:00 PM
This eyeliner is an exact match for Mac's Golders Green pigment. That's why I bought it at Sephora for the hefty price of $16.00 US. Although I adore the 'lime with yellow undertones' color, I had to run this on my eyelid at least 10 times (plus!) to get the color to show up. Even with UDPP (urban decay primer potion) as a base, the eyeliner faded after a few hours. The eyeliner is creamy, BUT I have to return it b/c: it takes many many swipes to get the color to show up, and it doesn't have any staying power. Too bad b/c the color is so beautiful.

Blush -MAC - Neo sci-fi Spaced Out
lucyrox 5/24/2008 9:43:00 AM
This blush is from the LE MAC Sci-fi 2008 collection. The website describes the color as shimmery peach. In real life, the color is a dull, medium orange. There was no *shimmer*. I sampled this in my freestanding MAC store, and was *very* glad that I didn't buy it without trying it first. I then compared this (on my inner arm) to some other MAC non-limited blushes, and the regular blushes were much more stunning. I am a nw/nc 15 for reference, and my HG blush is from MAC Barbie collection called "Don't Be Shy"; which is a beautiful warm pink. Spaced Out costs $17.50 and would be nice on darker-toned women, but not on pale people like me.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine - Sapphire Blue 445D
lucyrox 4/23/2008 12:17:00 PM
I don't like this nail polish at all! I picked it up because I love the dark blue color, but it chips in one day. The brush and consistency are fine and easy to apply, but the color does not come out shiny at all. I've used this three times and all I get is a dull, cheap-looking blue nail polish, even when I use a very good top and base coat. There is no "wild" shine. Even though this is dirt cheap, save your dollars for a better nail polish.

Lipstick -MAC - Cream Lipstick in Dubonnet
lucyrox 4/10/2008 3:50:00 PM
I am PPP with pigmented lips, so I usually go for deeper shades of lipstick so they will show up. I am very pleased with Dubonnet, which is a MAC amplified creme lipstick. The color is deep red and looks really powerful against my very white skin (a drunk guy in a bar told me I looked like a porcelain doll haha). I love wearing this lipstick at night; and during the day for drama with a bare face (well....with concealer). I rated this only 4 lipsticks because you must exfoliate your lips really well before applying (I recommend smashbox lip exfoliator), and then rub aquaphor or vaseline on your lips to moisturize, blot the aquaphor OFF, THEN apply dubonnet, blot, and apply dubonnet again. This lasts a very long time, hours through drinking and eating because it is so pigmented, and stays true to it's dark red color. I like to apply a MAC lipgloss on top of dubonnet after a couple of hours of wear, to moisturize my lips more. I would buy this again:) To see how gorgeous this color is, I have a pic in my profile! Also, I believe this color would be universally flattering on all skin tones, from very light to very dark.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
lucyrox 4/2/2008 3:27:00 PM
Thank you MUA for turning me on to this HG, seche vite fast dry top coat. I absolutely don't know how I've been painting my nails since high school, and just now found this! Seche vite fast dry top coat is unbelievable. I painted my nails with OPI cajun shrimp (orange) and within 10 minutes of using seche vite, I was pulling WHITE laundry out of my drying machine. Who would know that such a product would leave such an awesome shine and leave nails rock-hard-dry within 5-10 minutes?! A sticky band-aid left gunk on one of my nails, so within 5 minutes, I removed polish, layered two coats, used seche vite TP, and had a perfect nail. I used to plan painting my nails when I would have a 1 - 2 hour period of time; but no more I say! I can do a full manicure in 10 minutes flat, and be doing laundry or yard work at minute 11. I will buy again. It is also dirt cheap, under $5.00 US, and found at my Giant grocery store. UPDATE: I had to lower my rating to 3 b/c I do get major chips on day 2 of this. I have better luck with OPI start to finish for a topcoat, if I am not in a hurry for my nails to dry. Also, you must buy Seche Vite restore, which is a paint thinner, to thin this out (or any of your other np's that are too thick) as time goes by. UPDATE 2: Rating went back to 4 b/c this does work really well, IF on day 2 or 3, I touch up my nails with polish, then use another coat of SV. I can get 4-5 days of a lovely do-it-myself manicure with this touch-up system!

Conditioner -Nexxus - Humectress Luxe Ultimate Moisturizing Leave-In Spray
lucyrox 3/27/2008 5:35:00 PM
I have lots of fine, wavy and color-treated hair. I only wash my hair about every 3rd day, but everyday I comb out my hair and use a few styling products. I use this moisturizing leave-in spray on my wet hair (after shampooing and conditioning) before I comb my hair. I only have to use a few sprays for my whole head because this is such a great detangler, and I am able to comb through my wavy hair with no pulling or breakage of my hair. My wide-tooth comb glides right through my hair, thanks to this product. Only a few sprays do not weigh my hair down, and leaves my hair wavy and conditioned. I also am in love with the coconut smell. YUM. I will buy again, even though I think Nexxus products are expensive for a drugstore line. This plastic, spray-bottle is 5.1 fluid ounces and was around $14.00 US (from my CVS, which is usually a couple dollars more expensive, but has hard-to-find items). I'm also happy that Nexxus does not test on animals, so I'll dish out extra money for that reason alone, besides the fact that it works so well.
