Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin Seed Curl Moisturizing Conditioner
rated 5 of 5

I am surprised that this has no reviews. I am completely blown away by this conditioner! It gives amazing slip without any cones, is cruelty free, and vegan. It really does an excellent job of moisturizing my hair without feeling greasy or heavy. This has hydrolyzed oat protein, so those protein sensitive might want to avoid this. It has a vanilla buttercream scent that actually lingers in my hair. I let it sit in my hair for the recommended 15-20 minutes, rinse, and let my hair air-dry. I am left with shiny, frizz-free curls with good definition. I really love this and I have tried many conditioners over the years. It definitely rivals my beloved Dermorganic masque. I have not tried this as a leave-in yet but will update on my experience soon.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Vicks Vapor Rub
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/25/2013 2:32:00 AM

This brings back many memories of my grandmother slathering vapor rub on my chest and feet when I was younger every time I had a cold. I still keep a tub of this in my bathroom even though my husband can't stand the smell of it when I use it. I now buy my dd the baby version which has a milder smell and find myself reaching for that more than the regular Vicks vapor rub. It helps with congestion temporarily for me and like other reviewers have noted, you can use it around your nose to keep away offending odors and on your toes to keep your nail beds healthy. I have not used it on bug bites, pimples, or bruises so I can't say how well it works for those problems but I will test it out sometime.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Rosewater
rated 5 of 5
lotusfairy 4/22/2013 10:48:00 PM

I usually use a couple of drops of rosewater when doing my bi-weekly Aztec cleansing mask. It keeps my face, which is oily and sensitive, from becoming too red after I rinse the mask off and helps a bit when the smell of the vinegar. It also balances the oiliness I get in the summer. Rosewater alone makes an excellent toning mist when my skin is a bit irritated or congested. It doesn't break me out or leave any residue. I sometimes use it my hair or skin as a light fragrance though it is only temporary. I never used it in my cooking, but will have to try that one day.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast "Through the Grapevine" #208
rated 3 of 5
lotusfairy 4/20/2013 12:57:00 AM

I thought this was ok. I agree that it leans on more of a berry purple or a fuscia/purple which I wasn't expecting. It still is a nice, flattering color but disappointing. I used it on my toes and had minimal chipping after a week and a half. On hands, I had almost five days of wear without much chipping which is pretty good. I think the megalast nail polishes are very good for being cheap and will continue to try other colors.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Shine Collection Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/20/2013 12:24:00 AM

I am happy to see this back on store shelves as well. While this certainly is not the most moisturizing shampoo for me, it does clean well without drying my hair and it has some light smoothing properties. My hair was not tangled or dull after air drying and it smelled great. Works well with other Herbal Essences conditioners or the matching shine collection conditioners. I bought the one with chamomile (Yellow bottle) but I think it is just as good as the one with rosehips (pink bottle).

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Pink Grapefruit Refreshing Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/17/2013 1:47:00 AM

While the original version is a tad more moisturizing for me, I love the smell of this one. It is strong, but I think it smells wonderful. It reminds me of the Pink body spray from The Gap. My lips feel smooth and supple and it isn't too waxy feeling. I do agree this would be perfect to use in the summer and would make a great addition to my beach bag. I would buy again.

Treatments -L'Oreal - Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/16/2013 4:55:00 AM

I had a coupon for this so I decided to buy it as I really like the matching regular conditioner from the line. It has a thick, custard-like consistency and smells wonderful to my nose. I used too much initially and had soft, but static like hair. I lessened the amount to a quarter sized amount and my hair was much happier. It looked shiny, felt soft, had less frizz, and the scent lingered lightly which was nice. Since my hair is highlighted, I need all the moisture and smoothing properties I can get and this satisfied me enough to buy a jar again. Now I want to try the treatment in the blue jar next to see how it compares. If you have dry, color-treated hair, give this a whirl.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - MYHoney Child Honey Hair Mask
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/14/2013 7:15:00 PM

This is super moisturizing and I love that the ingredients are mostly organic and really work to soften the hair. When my hair air dried, it smelled nice and my hair was shiny. I had very little frizz and it didn't pull out my curl that much, considering that it has coconut oil, shea butter, and coconut milk. The consistency was a bit liquidy and challenging to use in the shower as it comes in a jar. I have to be careful not to let any water enter the jar so it does not cause spoilage. There are preservatives in this, but I feel safer knowing no moisture can get in the jar and breed bacteria. I really love this mask and will definitely repurchase. My hair seems to drink this up and I have good hair days when I use it. I followed only with some Giovanni Direct leave-in and my hair looked great. I recommend this for those with dry and curly hair.

Gels/Soaps -Caress - Fine Fragrance Elixirs - Scarlet Blossom
rated 4 of 5
lotusfairy 4/11/2013 1:35:00 AM

I decided to try this after smelling this at Walgreens. The bottle says it is supposed to have red lychee and patchouli notes, but I get more muskiness and wood notes. It is indeed a sensual floriental scent and lathers well. My skin feels clean and the scent lingers temporarily in both the air and on my skin. I love the red color of the bottle, but wish I can get more of a lychee smell. I think it is a good body wash overall from the Caress line. Just not sure if I would buy again as I have many other body washes to rotate with.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Oyin Handmade Hair Dew
rated 5 of 5
lotusfairy 4/10/2013 7:22:00 PM

I use this more as a leave-in but sometimes use this as a daily moisturizer when the air is dry or my hair is getting a bit frizzy. It is incredibly moisturizing and I don't need to use a lot (nickel sized amount) on my hair. It is not too heavy or greasy. It smells like waffle cones and maple syrup to my nose. I don't really care for the scent because of the maple syrup note, but it does fade and is tolerable. It gives great shine because of the oils in it and the aloe helps to keep moisture in. This is perfect for those with curly, dry hair. I'm actually looking forward to trying other Oyin products. For reference, my hair is 3b and highlighted, normal to high porosity with medium density.

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences Shine Collection Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
lotusfairy 4/10/2013 2:47:00 AM

I'm glad Clairol brought this back too. I loved using this when I was in middle school and high school. It has the same floral fragrance I remember and it still smells wonderful. Wish they could bottle this fragrance! The formula does have cones, but my frizzy hair does not mind it. It gives great slip and I was able to detangle my hair easily after my shower. I had softness and shine as promised. I also had very little halo frizz when my hair dried. I normally buy the pink bottle, but the yellow bottle is just as good. If you have had general success with Herbal Essences products, then you will love this.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Aunt Jackie's Curl La La Defining Curl Custard
rated 5 of 5
lotusfairy 4/9/2013 1:13:00 AM

This is sulfate-free and paraben-free. There is no mineral oil or petrolatum. This smells amazingly like pink lemonade with a hint of some kind of berry note and very strong at that so those with allergies or scent sensitivities may not like this. You can use this on both wet or dry hair which is nice. I do prefer to use this on wet hair. It contains both shea butter and olive oil. It does have a consistency of a thick pudding and has a pretty pastel lavender color. On my curly 3b hair I was able to get really good definition with shine and a medium soft hold. I can actually say I like this a tad bit more than kinky Curly and that is one of my HG's. This also conditions more. It leaves no residue or flakiness. I bought my jar from Curlmart. I am very happy with my results so far.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Miss Jessie's Super Sweetback Treatment
rated 2 of 5
lotusfairy 4/8/2013 7:28:00 PM

This left my hair very soft and shiny, but also lifeless and feeling weighed down. There was no residue when I rinsed it off, but there are a lot of silicones loaded in this. I think I will reserve this for days when I flat-iron. It will give your hair some weight so if you have very thick and dry hair, you may like this. It does cut down on frizz too. i did find the scent a bit obnoxious. I get the bubblegum note, but it has a strong underlying detergent note also. You can use this with or without heat. I have a small jar of this that I bought from Curlmart and I know it is going to last me a while. The packaging says to get a big scoop and apply to hair, but I found my hair does not need much. Overall I am not too impressed to buy this again.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie - Glamorous
rated 3 of 5
lotusfairy 4/8/2013 2:43:00 AM

This has a very goopy consistency but I expect that since this contains glitter and two types of glitter at that. One is small and the other is in a hexagonal shape. I had to make application thick and made a couple of swipes to get the coverage I desired since you don't get a lot of glitter in one swipe. When you pair this with the other Fergie polish "gold album," it looks amazing. I would not buy this again, but it is fun to play with on top of other nail polish shades so I will keep it until I use it up or pass along to one of my younger sisters.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie Gold Album
rated 5 of 5
lotusfairy 4/8/2013 2:36:00 AM

This is utterly beautiful! I was able to get a gorgeous gold color with two swipes of the nail brush. The shade is very eye-catching and bold so I wouldn't wear this in an office setting. I applied the other Fergie polish "Glamorous" over this one for extra fun, but on its own, it looks great. If you adore gold polishes, this is perfect to add to your collection.
