Pressed Powders -MAC - Tahitian Sand Hello Kitty

I saw this at CCO and was immediately attracted to the cute packaging. But just as I didn't buy anything from the Hello Kitty collection while it was out, I didn't buy this at first because I had no idea what it was for and what to do with it. So I came home and looked it up MUA, read the reviews and decided: What the heck! Went back to CCO and picked it up. As another reviewer already mentioned, it is great for setting foundation and for toning down blush if you put on too much. The adorable packaging is definitely a plus, but I don't consider this a must-have product. If I ever run out of this, I'm definitely keeping the compact and refilling it with another MAC powder. I might even just de-pot it and put in my MAC Blot powder.

Crème -L'Oreal - True Match Super Blendable Compact Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I'm a complete sucker for cute packaging...and that is why I bought this. I bought this in N4...even though N3 seemed like it would be my perfect match. I had a hunch this foundation would run a little darker and I was right! There's a very thin layer at the top that looks darker, but once you dip your brush/sponge in, the rest looks lighter. So my advice would be: find the color that seems like it would be your match, and then get the next one up. So application...it was a little tricky, since I'm a beginner to cream foundation. I used a foundation brush, since I HATE using the included sponge applicators (breeding ground for bacteria...gross!). Be sure to blend well to avoid looking cakey...and then apply a setting powder or mineral veil for best results. This is an okay product: not bad but definitely not stellar. I don't regret trying it out, but I have to say that it is one that I could live without. Don't think I would repurchase. EDIT 1/24/2012: Changed from 3 lippies to 4! I changed my method of applying this and I like it way better now. :) Instead of a foundation brush, I apply this with my Ecotools retractable kabuki and the result is a lot more even and flawless. The trick with this cream foundation is to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND and you need the right tools to do that. When applied correctly, this actually looks very nice and natural.

Powder -Coastal Scents - Silk Cover Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5

This is hands down, the BEST foundation I have ever had the pleasure to try. I bought the customized set for $29.95 (which is a FANTASTIC deal as it includes a full-sized jar of all the following: 1 foundation, 1 concealer, 1 mineral veil, 1 blush and 2 eyeshadows) and chose the foundation in Medium 1.2. PERFECT color match! I love the smooth application and the fact that if applied correctly, makes your skin look flawless, natural and soft. I got so many compliments on my complexion the very first time I used it and since then, I knew it was love. Just make sure to wash, moisturize and prime your face before application. I find that a flat buffer brush works best to apply this powder, as opposed to a kabuki. I absolutely LOVE Coastal Scents, and for a relatively "small company" their products are far superior to the bigger names such as Bare Minerals. My favorite thing about this foundation is that it really is comprised of nothing but TRUE minerals; no parabens, bismuth oxychloride and other fillers and nasty things that other mineral companies throw in. Another reviewer complained that Silk Cover has "no staying power." I always use this over a primer and under Mineral Veil, and it has excellent staying power. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. <3

Powder -mark - Powder Buff powder foundation
rated 5 of 5

HG quality! Mark Powder Buff is my new favorite foundation! At first, I was scared to purchase it since it only came in 8 shades and it's a little difficult to find a color match online. But I thought that at $9, I wouldn't lose out on much. And plus, Avon/Mark accepts returns and exchanges. Turns out that Natural (the 4th shade in lightest to darkest order) is a PERFECT match! This powder is definitely superior to other powder foundations I have tried in the past; it's even better than MAC Studio Fix which I used to love. It goes on velvety smooth and doesn't look chalky or fake at all. And I love that it doesn't contain pore-clogging Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride. The sleek, supercute packaging is also a plus. Just make sure that you use a powder, buffer or kabuki brush to apply this (or any powder). You can never get smooth application using an included sponge. Also, sponges are not very hygienic; they are a breeding ground for bacteria when re-used. Overall: GREAT PRODUCT! Will repurchase when I run out. =)

Bronzers -E.L.F. - Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder -- Sunkissed
rated 5 of 5
lalalalila 9/9/2009 12:08:00 AM

I admit: this was a complete impulse buy. But one that I DO NOT regret. I found this little treasure at Big Lots for $1.80. (It also came with a decent brush.) And since then, this has grown to become my favorite bronzer of all time. I love this product more than a lot of my pricier stuff. It gives me the PERFECT amount of golden-pinkish-bronze and really brightens up my complexion. The first time I wore this to work, I only used a little on the apples of my cheeks and my coworkers commented that I looked "radiant." =) Definitely a lot of bang for a mere buck. I'm going to be so sad when this runs out. I recently went back to Big Lots to buy a backup, but they were all out. And no other store in my area carries ELF. =( I'll just have to order it online.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
rated 5 of 5
lalalalila 9/8/2009 11:41:00 PM

I absoutely love this stuff! Liquid foundation was a little intimidating to me at first, but I finally bought this based on multiple recommendations from friends. I chose Rich Tan, which turned out to be my PERFECT match. And the oil-control formula is amazing. I apply it with my Ecotools bamboo foundation brush over Monistat Chafing Gel (used as a primer...which is fantastic, btw) and then set it with my Sonia Kashuk Colorless Matte loose powder. The result? My skin looks FLAWLESS, healthy and completely natural. Just be careful...it tends to dry quickly due to the non-transferrable formula. So be sure to buff it really well. The lack of a pump is really inconvenient, but I can overlook this since the foundation itself is amazing. I will definitely purchase again.

Lipstick -NYX - round lipstick- saturn
rated 5 of 5
lalalalila 9/2/2009 11:05:00 PM

This was my first NYX lipstick, and I am very impressed! I actually like this a lot better than my numerous MAC lipsticks, which tend to be very drying and leave my lips feathery/peeling. I just slide this over some Chapstick, and I'm good to go! Will definitely repurchase, in lots of different colors. At around $3 a pop, just can't go wrong. =)
