Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Intensely Luminous Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow -Beige
highendheaven 7/4/2006 10:44:00 PM
I generally don't care for cream eyeshadows. They crease and fade on me, and I never like the finish. Well, this one is the best I ever tried. Tiny tube-but it is great. Very frosty, lasts well even in the heat, and resists fading. Goes on well, use sparingly as it is super concentrated. Great base for pigments too.I went back and bought the khaki color (a dull olive) and I use both of them. I took them to St Maarten, where I own a condo-in the blazing heat and sun, I keep my makeup simple there. This worked perfectly. Next time there I'm heading to the French side of the island where the pharmacies carry Bourjois and get more of these (the prices are always way less than in the US)....it's a line I generally like, but this formula is a winner.

Treatments -Avene - Diacneal Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
highendheaven 7/4/2006 10:38:00 PM
I have been using Philosophy Hope In A Bottle BHA on my nose and oily T zone every night for a couple years, and I like it. Out of curiosity, I tried this product. WOW! Even better! Excellent at keeping the breakouts from happening, and I can even wear it under makeup. Love it-very effective treatment. I just got a second tube, and will continue to use it and keep a backup on hand at all times. A real winner for the large pored gals like me to prevent pimples.

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Wet Pearl Lipstick in Sugar Mauve
highendheaven 6/27/2006 4:33:00 PM
I really didn't like this lipstick. The color is awesome, a mauvey pink pearl, and it shimmers and shines wonderfully-but it runs and bleeds and has no lasting power at all. It got all smushed in the case for the texture is so soft and mushy. Would not buy any of this formula again although VL has wonderful colors.

Lipstick -Cat Cosmetics - Kittenish
highendheaven 6/27/2006 4:29:00 PM
Well, all Cat Cosmetic lipsticks have the cleverest packaging possible, with a little built in mirror, and a hip modern square case. This one is a really universal pink-I generally cannot wear too many pinks, but I can this one. It has a subtle frost, and glows in a summery, wonderful neutral pink. I got this in a swap, and there is about 50% remaining, so I would definitely buy it again when it gets used up.

Lipstick -Cat Cosmetics - Glamourpuss

Cat has really reinvented the wheel with her lipstick packaging. Lola copied it but Cat's are still cooler! Love the built-in mirror, and the color and formula of this one is the perfect nude for my NC20-25 coloring. Lasts well and is the "little black dress" of lipsticks-goes with everything!A classic. Not too frosty, but not a cream either. Have had mine a long time, still fresh. I'd buy this one again for sure.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HIP Loose Pigment-Intrepid
highendheaven 6/27/2006 2:18:00 PM
This is almost identical in texture and color to MAC Green Brown pigment. It is a pretty pricey drugstore item, but since MAC Green Brown can be hard to find, this is a great alternative. The brush it comes with is terrific, and can be used for travel since it is short handled, but has surprisingly good quality hair. I really was thrilled to find it, as I love MAC Green Brown and wanted more than the sample I have. I'd buy more of these if the colors were as interesting and lovely as this one. Update: Lots of gals think it looks more like Blue Brown than Green Brown, well, I think it has a bluish tinge but still think it is closer to Green Brown. Maybe it's my eyes! UPDATE-it IS my eyes, and the dim lighting in my bedroom. In bright light-it does look more like Blue Brown. OK-you gals are always right!

Palettes -Too Faced - The Quickie Chronicles - The Beach Bunny

I love this palette! The colors and textures are awesome-this one is in my home stash and in my vacation getaway condo too. It's great-I love so many of the Quickie Chronicles-fun and funky little packages full of great colors and rich textured makeup. Too Faced is a super company-I love their innovative products. I read on the boards some criticism of the cardboard cases-well, they are supposed to be "cute" and fun, and not Chanel. Better quality than the early Stila cardboard packaging! Actually mine is holding up pretty well, and I have carried it around.

Shampoo -LUSH - BIG
highendheaven 5/16/2006 9:27:00 PM
I have to say, this is the best clarifying shampoo I have used, even beating my previous fave, Frederic Fekkai Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo. But I truly hate the way it smells-like a cheap men's cologne! Phew! Awful-a "viney" kind of smell. Couldn't they find a better parfum to scent it with?...I mean, it really stinks. But...it works wonderfully. You do have to work with it a for while, be patient, to get a suds out of it, but once you do, it's very sudsy. My hair comes out so clean and soft, like baby hair! Such volume! I use only once a week or so in summer, even less in winter, it is drying. But use a good conditioner afterwards, and you will love the "spring" in your hair. If your scalp is flaky or oily, it should work well.

Moisturizers -La Mer - Creme de la mer moisturizer
highendheaven 4/15/2006 12:47:00 PM
My HG!! I tried it a few years ago and saw breakouts, so assumed it was too rich for my comb/oily skin. After last year's flaky, awful winter dryness, I tried it again this winter-and fell in love! It has given my skin renewed elasticity and suppleness-no dry flakies at all this winter for me. I guess I am now sufficiently dry (old!) enough for it now-it is my fave and use it every day. I've tried other La Mer products and love them all. This line might be overpriced-but it is great. UPDATE: In summer I have cut down my use of this to twice or 3 times per week. It is great for my neck-and keeps me firm! I love the effect it has after using Glycolics that dry me out. I love this stuff and will continue to use it-it has given me better skin, (along with Avene Diacneal, Philosophy Hope In A Bottle, DDF Glycolic Toner, and Aquaphor)

Eye Shadow -Milani - Flare
highendheaven 4/15/2006 12:43:00 PM
Milani eye shadows are more high-end than some high-end products! Richly pigmented, soft and clingy, they are a drugstore bargain and must-have. I agree with many others-this color is bold, bright and over-the-top! My NC25 light-sallow complexion can't handle bright color. As a liner, or as an ingredient with other browns layered it works, but alone-noooo! I like to use it under a soft medium brown to achieve a bronzey warm color-and as a liner it is great too. For a darker warm complexion, this would be wonderful, I think. Grab Milani shadows and experiment-at this price (2.99) you can afford to have them all and mix and match like an artist does! The formula is wonderful.

Blush -Milani - Smooth Finish Blush - Luminous
highendheaven 4/15/2006 12:36:00 PM
One of the best buys in the drugstore! A glowing perfect peachy-pink golden soft-frost...a must have for me. My coloring is a MAC NC25, Chantecaille Cream-and this shade has flattering warmth and a frostiness that is light diffusing and easy to wear. As for the complaint of lack of pigmentation-I don't get that at all. I like a blush to have delicate color-who wants to look like a clown? I like to layer a few blush-brush strokes and get a light, natural look myself. Perhaps on a medium or cool-toned complexion this shows poorly-for the light gals it is perfect.

Eyeliner -MAC - Softsparkle Pencil in Nightsky
highendheaven 4/15/2006 12:31:00 PM
Well-I couldn't resist-and maybe I should have. I don't hate it, but I sure don't love it. The glitter is too chunky-would have loved more of a microglitter. The pencil has really attractive looking packaging-and the color is great-but just not fine enough for my taste. UPDATE:Swapped this away and don't miss it a bit! Styli Style Glitter pencils have this beat by a mile! Better colors too. Thses are NOT fabulous. Not a must have. Get Clinique Creme Shapersor Styli Style instead.

Conditioner -Ojon - Ultra Hydrating conditioner
highendheaven 4/15/2006 11:53:00 AM
This conditioner did a good job. Not my fave-Kerastase still beats the rest-but nonetheless, I liked this a lot. I like the herbal, LUSH-like scent, and it is rich without too much weight. Rinses well, leaves my hair smooth and silky.

Shampoo -Ojon - Ultra Hydrating shampoo
highendheaven 4/15/2006 11:50:00 AM
This shampoo did a fine job of cleansing without drying. It smells great, a non-perfumey, herbal almost LUSH-like smell. I've been disappointed lately with a few lines I've tried-I 'm a Kerastase fan and haven't found anything I like as well...but this one comes close. It will be my secondary line. My hair is fairly long, colored, highlighted, lowlighted, and blow dried every other day. So I really need moisture-gentle cleansing and rich conditioning-but it's fine, so nothing too heavy to weigh it down. OJON is a great choice.

Treatments -Ojon - Restorative Hair Treatment
highendheaven 4/11/2006 6:01:00 PM
Well, everyone here seems to dislike this, but I bought it anyway. At $55 it's a pricey gamble....I must say I like it. My poor hair is colored, highlighted, blow dried and straightened. Although I take good care of it, it is pretty dry. I made the mistake of using a Pureology Volumizing Mask that really dried it out and made it much worse...so I was looking for a really rich restorative treatment. This worked very well. I left it on for about an hour, then washed it out with Frederic Fekkai Apple Cider Vinegar Clarifying Shampoo, and used a dab of Terax to detangle. Came out light, fluffy, smooth, soft and shiny. Will use again and probably re-buy. I don't love the tub format, it is messy, but I guess there's no other way to package this. I'll update if my opinion changes.
