Fragrances -Parfums M.Micallef - Royal Muska
rated 5 of 5
eurodivas 1/16/2010 11:27:00 AM

Originally posted Sept 9th 2009, but re-post as search function does not recognize the á. For the past two weeks or so I have been in a Musk mood. It has gotten a bit cool so my longing for fig notes has faded. When I requested Musk in the parfumarie, the sales person was happy to point me to Royal Muska and she claimed that it contains over 200 ingredients... so I had to try. This was love and harmony at first sniff. Royal Muska joins the list of legendary musk fragrances right up there with Musk Bruno Acampora. After sampling Royal Muska it took about 1 week for me to get the full bottle and this week lasted almost 1 year. My yearning for this was just endless. Upon application this musk goes on a bit fresh and one can get a very soft sense of the rose in the opening note. The development then follows into light whiffs of fruits and woods perfectly balanced with Musk. The dry down is just a heavenly musk fragrance which is warm, soothing and never gets cloying. When I wear this I cannot stop sniffing myself the entire day. Some musk scents can be overpowering and just screams MUSK at every one. Royal Muska is a sophisticated fragrance and wears like the most expensive piece of Persian silk garment that one could own. Now that I have found Royal Muska, I can save a bit as I do not have to use Bruno Acampora for daily use. I will reserve Bruno for night-time/special use or when I am not in good spirits as this musk is my remedy for all sorts of down times when I am not feeling my best emotionally. Perfume Notes: Head: Rose Heart: Fruit chords, white musk, precious woods Base: Crystal musk, oliban P.S. - Forgot to add that this has extremely good staying power so worth every penny. Also the fragrance comes in 30ml size. I find this to be a good option for those not wanting to take the 140Euro plunge the first time around.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Madini Musk Pierre
rated 4 of 5
eurodivas 1/14/2010 3:14:00 PM

A very mysterious and sexy musk. Upon application is can be a bit strong and could be mistaken for a black musk due to its soft but present animalic properties. After allowing to settle this is a scent for grown up musk lovers or anyone wanting a bit of spice in their life. This one makes a statement! I took off one point as I was a bit disappointed with the Madini packaging, meaning roller. It takes quite a bit of rubbing to get enough product on the skin. I actually decanted mine into another perfume bottle.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Clair De Musc
rated 3 of 5
eurodivas 10/18/2009 10:08:00 AM

This is a very clean and light musk fragrance which I find perfect for summer or weekend wear. It is not as complex as most of the fragrances from this line so do not expect anything out of the ordinary. What I love most about this musk version is that it is not overly soapy. The lasting power could be better for the price point. Overall all a very nice and feminine musk fragrance.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Abdul Samad al Qurashi - Khaltat Al Hajar Al Aswad
rated 5 of 5
eurodivas 10/5/2009 4:47:00 PM

I thought it was such a great thing when I found this perfume maker but now I am thinking otherwise as it may lead to my financial ruin. I fall in love over and over again with every thing that I try from them. The fragrances are such high quality and beautiful. Hajar al Aswad is a very well blended lightly-sweet mellow fragrance which just exhumes class and elegance. A combination of Soft Amber, Oudh, Musk and Taifi Rose makes this fragrance an absolute perfume lovers dream come true. In the opening note the Rose mixed with Oudh is just breath taking. The dry down is musk and amber perfection with a bit of rose which lingers on top. The closest fragrance I can use to explain the magic of this one is MDCI Enlèvement au sérail. I was a bit surprised as the "listed" notes in the two fragrances are not at all similar other than the rose note, but in terms of aroma they are very similar. I currently have each fragrance on separate wrists just to be sure that I am not mistaken with any other fragrance - and yes they are similar. However, while MDCI lasts for all of 30 minutes this fragrance captivates with its magic and aroma the entire day through. Problem - while 3ml of perfume oil goes for a hard earned $70 or 55 Eur, I think it is worth every penny due to the lasting power and the specialness of this fragrance. Could be I have to find a spot under the bridge very soon!!!

Fragrances -Montale - Aoud Safran
rated 4 of 5
eurodivas 10/4/2009 2:16:00 PM

This is one of my favorite Aouds from Montale. Safran Aoud is a combination of Red-Gold Safran, Aoud and Roses. This variation is light however one can really get a good whiff of the Safran note. This line has so many Aoud variations but sadly so many of them small exactly the same. Safran Aoud is really an exceptional combination which is sensual and sophisticated. I also think that this fragrance can be worn throughout the year and not necessarily for one season. This one is definitely worth trying out. In addition to Black Aoud and White Aoud this is another shining star in this line. I did not give this a 5 rating as I think the lasting power could have been a bit better.

Fragrances -Ormonde Jayne - Ormonde Woman parfum
rated 4 of 5
eurodivas 10/3/2009 3:31:00 PM

I received a free sample of this in the summer when the company was doing marketing promotions. I loved this fragrance immediately as it had such a warm/creamy touch to it. As it was summer as the time I decided to purchase this for the fall. I am currently wearing this fragrance quite a bit this fall and love it. This is excactly the perfect fragrance for fall weather. This is my first fragrance with Hemlock and as I love it so much I will definitely try to find other scents with the note. Woman is very classy and also long lasting. What I love most about it is the fact that it does not get stale as the day goes by. It always retains a fresh and vibrant aroma. I can see myself easily replacing this when my bottle is gone.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Al Haramain - White Musk
rated 3 of 5
eurodivas 10/3/2009 3:12:00 PM

Al Haramain White Musk is very fresh with strong floral notes. I find the quality to be very good for the price point. This musk is not watery but more of a thick perfume oil. The lasting power is very long so a little bit goes a long way. This musk is not at all warm so I love wearing this after doing sports as it does have a bit of a cooling effect.

Fragrances -Donna Karan - Jasmin 2 Extrait
rated 3 of 5
eurodivas 9/29/2009 5:21:00 PM

Donna Karan variation of a Jasmine Saliflore is quite a good fragrance. This jasmine version reminds me very much of Serge Lutens A la Nuit but it is not as strong so probably more suitable for the office. While this jasmine is a bit on the light side, it does have much depth and also a bit of a green note which makes it very special. I find this to be very sexy and easy to wear. The lasting power is great and the packaging is just lovely. The fragrance comes with a black leather wrap I assume to protect it from light. My final note is more a 3.5 lippie.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Abdul Samad Al Qurashi - Dehnal Oudh White
rated 5 of 5
eurodivas 9/29/2009 5:07:00 PM

This was one of the items I pick up when I was on my Musk spree/mood. As I love Oudh so much and the fragrance description looked so good I decided to give it a try and ordered a tester. In the mean time my tester has been emptied and a bottle is on the way. Dehnal Oudh White is a lovely soft Oudh fragrance with a very fresh floral top note blended with light Agarwood (Oudh). As the fragrance settles one can smell the soft florals with light oudh in the background which is just wonderful. I love oudh fragrances but I have not come across a variation like this one. I have tried may oudhs from conventional perfume makers such a Montale or Micallef but this is my first "authentic" oudh fragrance. I state that this is different as it is very soft and not as strong and over-powering as some Oudh fragrances can be. For individuals who shy away from Oudhs as a result of the potency or abrasiveness this is definitely a good fragrance to try or start with when wanting to dab in Oudh. I bought this fragrance online from an Arabian Fragrance Store in the UK but since then I have noticed that The Perfume Court does sell samples/decants of Abdul Samad Al Qurashi fragrances. I definitely think this brand is worth trying out for high quality Arabian fragrances. The perfume oils are not cheap but the quality is very good and they are long lasting.

Fragrances -Montale - Black Aoud
rated 5 of 5
eurodivas 9/10/2009 10:34:00 AM

I have neglected to write a review because I have been enjoying this one too much. No - honestly I was waiting to try as many Aoud variations from Montael and non Arabian brands before giving my verdict. The brand has so many Aoud scents I want to have some point of comparison. This fragrance is really Aoud Rose perfection. Really there is nothing I can think about as a negative point. Very crisp, full bodied rose scent with the perfect balance of Aoud. Never gets stale and it does not wear the wearer as many Aouds can. When I wear this fragrance I really fell special. It is not cheap but worth every penny.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - AquaBio Thalasso Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
eurodivas 9/9/2009 4:19:00 PM

This AquaBio Thalasso repair line is formulated for skins over 40 and is 100% bio. I am not there yet but I though I would plan ahead. This is a very rich night cream which is non irritating and just sinks into my skin leaving no residue. After putting this on a night my skin is always soft and looks its best during the day. I use this all over my face including sometimes as an eye cream and had not irritation what so every. I saw much better results using this as I did with Cream de La Mer. I will definitely keep buying this. Really a great product.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Indult - Tihota
rated 3 of 5
eurodivas 9/8/2009 4:37:00 PM

This fragrance has been so talked about and referred to as the gourmand perfume of the century that I had to try it. I bought a decant which cost me my left eye, two arms and a leg! Actually when purchasing the decant I really did think about getting the full bottle as it was hard to justify paying this price for 10ml of product. But this was a smart choice in the end. I find this to be a very nice vanilla scent but nothing in this fragrance puts it in a league by itself allowing for this inflated price tag. Tihota is a very well formulated and smooth vanilla fragrance which is quite grown up, classy and elegant. Many gourmand fragrance can become very stuffy by days end and when mixed with ones own natural body chemistry - ja.. it becomes a mess and not a very attractive odor. Tihota does not go on heavy and sticky as many vanilla scents do nor is it cloying. This fragrance has also good sillage but quite controlled. Vanilla overkill is never a good thing. I will not purchase a full bottle of this as I find the price to be inflated for the end product as mentioned above. I have since then tried Lea by Calypso after purchasing this decant and when comparing the two scents, for me Lea is by far a much better product. A bit more interesting with lots on intrigue. It keeps me guessing as it tends to change and not remain as linear as Tihota. Also, Keiko Mercheri Loukhoum and Tihota are not that much different in aroma even though Loukhoum is an Almond based fragrance. They both go pretty much in the same direction. Do try a decant or sample first. I know legends are often purchased blind, but sampling first could end up saving you quite a bit of money. Final Mark = 3.5.

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Musc Ravageur
rated 4 of 5
eurodivas 9/6/2009 4:23:00 PM

This fragrance came right along when I am going through a musk phase. Can't get enough of musk lately... but good ones! I have been feeling out of the loop as I have not been able to find a strong indole musk that I liked and felt comfortable wearing. Tried Kiehl's original, quite a few Arabian Ghezel variations and SL MKK. Definitely Musk Kublai Khan and Khiel's were for me scrubbers. While Musk Ravageur is on the skanky side it still has a very sexy, appealing and feminine touch. The more I wear this fragrance the more I love it. I wear it in the office with no reservations what so ever. Upon application it can be a bit much but the dry-down it just spice/musk heaven; a very warm full bodied musk with lots of staying power. Regardless of my love for this fragrance, I would not recommend buying this un-sniffed. It is definitely not for everyone and spending a few pennies on a sample is worth the effort. For those who are fond of or are acutomed to traditional/soft musks, MR may be a bit much. What I do recommend highly is to sample this fragrance just for the hell of it. It is something special and you could discover something new. I did!

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower
rated 2 of 5
eurodivas 9/6/2009 2:33:00 PM

After reading that this fragrance has the highest amount of Tubereuse in any fragrance on the market I had to try it out and had already decided I had to have it. Despite being the sucker for Tubereuse that I am, this fragrance just did not do it for me. There is something in this fragrance which just irritated me. It smelled more of grass (not sure if there is any in the scent) than Tubereuse . The lasting power is very good so this is at least a positive for those whose chemistry agree with this scent. Well all is not lost, I was able to swap for a sample prior to buying so I did not come out with a lost. I highly recommend sampling this before making a purchase. Definitely not a scent for everyone. As much as I love white florals, this one is not a keeper.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Ajmal Sirr al Hoob (Secrets of Love)
rated 4 of 5
eurodivas 9/2/2009 2:01:00 PM

I have been enjoying this fragrance for such a long time that I completely forgot to write a review. It is only now that I just ordered another perfume from Ajmal that this little treasure came to mind again. This is a lively fresh floral scent which I find myself wearing all year long especially in summer. The fragrance opens with a very nice burst of Jasmin and Ceder followed by fresh Bergamot and Ylang Ylang. While the perfume description includes Iris in the top note I do not get much of this and maybe this is a good thing as I am very picky about Iris. The Bergamot oil keeps the fragrance fresh throughout the day. The dry down is that of a lovely rose musk. I will definitely keep buying this. I bought it in Dubai but in the mean time has been seeing it popping up on a few web sites which carry oriental perfumes so this gives me hope of being able to replace my bottle when it is finished. Perfume Notes: Jasmine, Iris,Bergamot Oil, Ylang Ylang, Musk and Rose.
