Lotions/ Creams -MMU Cosmetics - Shea body butter souffle

i'm a sucker for anything with shea butter in it, and this is a great body cream. when one lives in a cold climate and has skin that is prone to dryness, this is a definite must-have. mmu offers lots of scent choices, so it may be hard to make up your mind on just one - so my suggestion is to order 2 or 3 of the 3 count sampler packs in different scents to find one that you truly can't live without and then order the full size.

i thought these bath salts were nice, but that the price was a bit high. these are very basic scented bath salts with no special added moisturizing properties. i have this in lemon creme and temptation (which smells a bit like fruit punch). both of the scents were lovely, and i would purchase them again in another mmu product, but i wouldn't buy these again due to the high price for such a basic product.

another mmu winner. incredibly moisturizing (but not greasy) - this contains shea butter, cocoa butter & hemp seed oil. i have this in orange a la vanille, which is heavier on the vanilla than the cake a l'orange scent (which i have in the sugared seas body scrub). especially wonderful after exfoliating feet with a foot file.

Scrubs -MMU Cosmetics - Sugared Seas Body Scrub - Various Secnts

this is probably the best body scrub i have ever tried, hands down. i have this in cake a l'orange (which smells just like the name) in the strongest intensity. incredibly moisturizing and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.

Conditioner -Bumble & Bumble - thickening conditioner
rated 3 of 5

this is a decent everyday conditioner that won't weigh down fine hair, but aside from that, it's nothing special.

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Thickening Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
egilsdottir 10/9/2002 6:40:00 PM

this is a nice shampoo for those of us who have fine hair. i used this in conjunction with the thickening conditioner and was pleased with the results. this is cheaper than other shampoos that i have been using (leonor greyl, molton brown) lately, so i will most likely be purchasing a full size bottle once the others are used up.

Gels/Soaps -Softsoap - Softsoap Naturals Milk & Honey Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
egilsdottir 10/9/2002 6:34:00 PM

this is just as wonderful as everyone has said it is. the scent alone is worth the price, but the moisturizing properties are an added bonus. so reasonably priced, no one should pass this up. i only wish they'd make a lotion in this scent, too. available at target, drugstore.com and many grocery stores.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Urban Apothecary Bath Bombs
rated 1 of 5

beautyofasite.com had a special promo offer on these - 10 for $15 (normally priced $4-$5 each), so i decided to give it a try. i am not sure if i got a bad batch, but the three i've tried so far have lacked any scent whatsoever and made the bath water a murky, cloudy mess. i could get the same results dumping pieces of chalk into the bath, which i doubt sounds appealing to anyone. the next time i want a little luxury at bath time, i will happily go back to my beloved lush bath bombs and skip these.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre Lipstick in Spice It Up
rated 5 of 5

i cannot say enough good things about this lipstick. i have searched high and low for a lipstick that can give my lips a stained-with-red-wine look without success, that is, until i discovered this gem. spice it up gives my lips a natural looking wash of color with an added bit of shine that does not deter from the effect. the just-enough wash of red-brown color makes this wearable during the day as well as in the evening, and flattering for many different skin tones.

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt

lime, coconut, grapefruit, sea salt and vodka...no, it's not the latest drink, it's lush's newest facial scrub. my boyfriend bought this, and i warily tried it on my sensitive combination skin (which is getting drier and drier as the winter months approach). to my surprise, this didn't irritate my skin at all. however, i do think that using this frequently on my skin (especially around this time of year) would dry it out and/or irritate it. my boyfriend, who has oily skin, will probably be able to use this on a more regular basis, and i might try this again during the three months of the year that chicago gets unbearably hot and humid.

Skincare - Body -Simplyscents - Dreamsickle Soap
rated 5 of 5

simply scents soaps are wonderful, and this is no exception. the scent of this soap is a very uplifting, citrusy orange with just a hint of vanilla (i am not a fan of vanilla scents, but the vanilla in this is very subtle and does not bother me). lathers incredibly well and does not dry out my skin. any soap that helps snap me out of my zombie-like state on monday mornings is a winner for sure.

i know i'm late to the bandwagon, but i recently sampled this at sephora for the first time. i'm sorry, but i think this smells like a lemon scented cleansing product. an overpriced lemon cleansing product. and this is coming from a citrus lover. very disappointing.

Hair -Molton Brown - Healthy Hair Revitalizing Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
egilsdottir 9/26/2002 10:20:00 AM

i received a sample of this with a recent beautyhabit.com order. aside from the hotel shampoo smell, this is a nice shampoo that i think almost every hair type could use. left my fine, straight hair shiny and bouncy. $19 for 300 ml.

this came on too strong and too sharp for my taste. i have yet to smell a chanel fragrance that i like - and this one is no exception. cute bottle, though.

Shampoo -Origins - The Last Straw Creme Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
egilsdottir 9/23/2002 10:59:00 PM

i like this shampoo, but only if i alternate it with a clarifying shampoo. otherwise, it weighs down my fine hair like nobody's business. one of the things that i really like about this shampoo is that i don't have to use a conditioner afterward - which comes in handy during rushed weekday morning showers. an overall good product, but i wish they'd repackage it in tube form.
