Sunscreen -Christian Dior - DiorSnow Pure UV Perfect Brightening Protective Base SPF 50
rated 5 of 5

I have recently purchased this item on my flight back to Singapore, and though I paid a hefty price for it (SGD$59), I think it was well spent. The item that I'm reviewing is DiorSnow Sublissime UV Perfect White UV Ultra-Protective Base Translucent SPF50 PA+++. What a long name. Haha. It's not oily and gives a nice glow to your skin. Top it up with powder (if you're afraid of the sticky feeling) and you're good to go!

Eye Shadow -Jane - Eye Zings
rated 2 of 5

I dabbled with these shadows when I was experimenting with eye makeup years ago. I liked the wide range of colours available and the cheap price but application was horrible!!! Colours were misrepresented (beautiful colours like shimmery teal green appeared chalky on me), and it was difficult for my shadow brush to pick up any pigments. Needed a lot of shadow for colours to appear right. I swapped away the few colours that I had almost immediately.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
rated 3 of 5

I'm on the fence with this product. I love that it's not oily but at the same time it makes my face so dry, and emphasizes the flakies on my U zone. My current HG for sunblock is DiorSnow Sublissime UV base SPF 50. I gave this Dry-Touch sunblock to my sis, and she loves it.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 4 of 5

Another HG for me. I've been using this product for very long, since I started dabbling in eye makeup. My sister (who is 4 yrs older than me) has been using this for even a longer period of time, and still loves this. It's oily, but that's what removes the eye makeup completely. I always follow up with a facial wash, and you should too! But the price, as mentioned in several reviews below, is kinda high. I'd buy this if I have the money, or need that product to help me get the freebies offered, otherwise, I'd use Maybelline's.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
rated 4 of 5
daphn3_t 8/18/2007 11:45:00 PM

I tried this once, after buying it on Yahoo Auctions. However, the dishonest seller sold me a plum colour, instead of the dark brown as she had described. Colour aside, I suspected that she has used the mascara before (she said it was brand new), and it was produced a long time ago. The mascara that I used was dry and flaky, didn't produce much volume for me, and the colour was unnatural for me (I'm Asian, and have very dark lashes). I do understand that those are the risks when I buy online, so I'm sure that's not the true review of Faux Cils. I'll be sure to try it again (this time, I'll buy it from the counter! =D).

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 5 of 5

So far, I've always swapped for sample tubes of this mascara coz I don't use mascara on a regular basis (too lazy to use it when I'm just going to school). I love this mascara ('ve swapped for more than 3 tubes already, and still looking for more!) because it gives me high volume which is precisely what I'm looking for in a mascara. I have long lashes, but I want MORE volume. A girl can never be too greedy right? Haha. This is a definite keeper! It isn't too difficult to remove (I either use cleansing oil, cleansing milk or Lancome's Bifacil eye & lip makeup remover), and doesn't sting my eyes (I wear contacts) too.

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Mascara
rated 1 of 5
daphn3_t 8/18/2007 11:29:00 PM

I bought this after reading and hearing all the good things about this mascara, but was hugely disappointed. Formula was too wet, leaving my curled lashes stick straight, and worst of all, gave me raccoon eyes mid-day! I don't really have oily underlids, and all the mascaras (WP and non-WP) I've tried have never given me this problem! Went straight into the bin without hesistation.

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
rated 4 of 5
daphn3_t 8/18/2007 11:23:00 PM

Pure love for this innovation! I love putting this nose strip on after a hot shower (opens up the pores) and doing a relaxing mask after removing the nose strip to close the pores again. It may sound disgusting, but it's so satisfying to see all those facial hair and blackheads/whiteheads on that little piece of sticky paper, just after 10mins of so. I like doing it for my dad (who's a hoarder of these nasties) and seeing how much gunk came out. Would definitely buy these again! PS: the black charcoal version is much better than the usual ones. Try to get them if possible.

Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm #1
rated 3 of 5
daphn3_t 8/18/2007 11:20:00 PM

I used this product about a couple of years ago, and it was my favourite lip product then. It is still my sister's HG (sister has super dry lips due to smoking habit and lack of determination to apply balm regularly). I liked its texture, waxy and soft. Moisturizes lips well, while imparting a nice glossy shine. Saves the need for a clear lipgloss. This product does a decent job of it, AND keeps your lips moist at the same time. I like to use it as a lip mask, applying thick layers of the balm on my lips on days when my lips are feeling particularly dry and chapped. The balm would slowly get absorbed into my lips, dislodging those flakies, and allowing me to gently rub those flakies off, giving me perfect soft lips. Kiehls Lip Balm #1 would still be my #1 choice for lipbalms, if I haven't discovered the existence of Lucas Papaw Ointment while studying in Australia. Lucas Papaw Ointment is almost identical to Kiehls Lip Balm #1, except LPO doesn't have SPF15. However, LPO comes in a huge 25g tube (with a low price of ~AUD$5) and a huge tub. I can do my lip masks every few days without thinking "how frivolous". LPO is also multi-purpose, antibacterial.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 3 of 5
daphn3_t 8/18/2007 11:10:00 PM

I'm reviewing this product on behalf of my sister who uses this product. Pros: item works well to cover uneven skintone and blemishes. Light fomulation without being oily. Good for oily skintypes. Colour selection is decent as well, but shades can be a little pinkish for some skintones. Cons: item runs out very fast as its mousse texture means that not alot of product is contained in 1 package. Ended up having to go through about twice as fast as if my sister was to use Chanel's DCPC. As such, Chanel's DCPC still reigns HG status.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
daphn3_t 8/14/2007 12:23:00 AM

I decided to swap for this after seeing so many girls wanting to lay their hands on this. And now I realise why they want it so badly. It gives a nice shimmer to your face, and you can even skip blusher if you want to. I wouldn't buy it again though coz one MSF can last pretty long! I only use 2 swipes on each cheek.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Dipdown
rated 5 of 5
daphn3_t 8/14/2007 12:20:00 AM

I love this product, except its packaging. The tub packaging means that the fluidline can dry out pretty fast, losing its gel properties. But that aside, this is a HG product for me. I turned to fluidline after trying kohl pencils and those automatic eyeliners which did nothing but smudge on my oily lids. Fluidline stays put on my lids, and allows me to draw a thin or thick line, depending on my preference. It is easy to use as well! Great job MAC!

Eyeliner -MAC - Teddy eye kohl
rated 4 of 5
daphn3_t 8/14/2007 12:17:00 AM

I bought this eyeliner a couple of years back, after reading the reviews here and on another forum. Big mistake. I neglected to consider my oily skin, and thus ended up with smudges on my eyelids barely an hour after I applied it. But I do understand that it's the nature of my skin that's acting against the product, so I gave it to my sister who has normal skin. She loves it. The colour is great, dark copperish brown with shimmer. And it stays put for her. I just wish there's an equivalent for MAC Fluidlines. That's my HG eyeliner now.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Buffering Lotion
rated 4 of 5
daphn3_t 8/14/2007 12:13:00 AM

I said I wouldn't buy this product again, not because it's bad. On the contrary, I think it's pretty darn good! It really works (my emerging pimple went back underground within a day of using this, and it didn't appear again!), and you don't need a lot of it to work. You only need a drop, and for that reason, the bottle is pretty economical, and I don't think I'd need to buy the product again because it lasts and lasts and lasts!

Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Control Cream
rated 5 of 5
daphn3_t 7/29/2007 12:15:00 PM

I have to say, I'm in love with this product! I've tried for close to 3 years to find a product to help soothe and reduce redness and dryness from the eczema patches I have around my jawline. Nada. Nothing that I've tried before Control Cream has worked (well, maybe just for a short while, but my skin goes back to being as it was after that 'honeymoon' period). I went to Kit Cosmetics (where MB is being carried in Australia) and my favourite lady recommended me to use the CC. Godsent product! It took away all the redness, dryness and itchyness in like a day and a half. I swear I'm not exaggerating! It's true. And now, I swear by it whenever my skin needs a bit of TLC, or after I've squeezed out the blackheads on my nose. Even my sister is in love with it after using it for a week.
