Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
cleogirl 9/19/2012 8:14:00 AM
I have been using this product for 2+ years and have gone through 3-4 of them. I absolutely love the consistency and smell of this and use it on a daily basis to soften and protect my cuticles. It is a bit greasy so be careful if you're in front of the computer lol. It does a great job at keeping my cuticles conditioned and soft, especially during our harsh winters. I have one at home and one at work and use it whenever I think of it, usually 1-2 times per day. I would repurchase again and again. The only thing I wish they would change is the press on lid, I wish it was a screw off cap instead.

Makeup Brushes -Quo - bent eye liner brush
cleogirl 9/19/2012 7:49:00 AM
Out of all the Quo brushes, this one is for sure the best. I use this every single day to apply my cream eyeliner and have had the same one for 2 years and it's still like new. I do clean it regularly with baby shampoo. I would not pay full price for this as they often go on sale at 40% off, for that price, they're worth it!

Loose Powders -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Truly Translucent Loose Powder
cleogirl 9/19/2012 7:45:00 AM
I absolutely love this powder! I have very oily skin and find that it does a great job of keeping my skin somewhat matte without caking or settling into any fine lines. I love the screw off cap as I can take it with me in my bag and not worry about it. I saw that this entire line is on clearance at Shoppers and am suspecting that it may be discontinued :( ** Edit - just got an email back from Coty the manufacturer confirming that this entire line is being discontinued, double :(

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
cleogirl 9/19/2012 7:43:00 AM
So far I've tried 3 BB creams, this one, the Garnier one and the Marcelle one. I have very oily skin and this product just did NOT work for me at all as it made my skin super oily and broke me out on my chin. I did like the consistency of it and found that it blended well into my skin and left a beautiful finish, but has ZERO coverage. I love the fact that it has sunscreen built in and was so hoping this would work as in the summertime I don't like wearing anything heavy on my skin but it is going into my "give away" drawer.

Concealers -Garnier - Anti-Dark-Circle Eye Roller
cleogirl 9/19/2012 7:39:00 AM
I have been using this for about 6 months and am getting ready to purchase again. I usually dab a small amount of this under my eyes, (sometimes over, sometimes under foundation) - I then let it sit for a few minutes while I do something else and then with my ring finger, gently blend this in. It instantly brightens my dark areas and makes my eyes look fresh and awake! The formula is rather watery and thin which I like because it does not crease and I am still able to use a regular concealer over it if I need extra coverage. It is quite pricey here in Canada and as with other products, I would never pay full price for this and wait for it to go on sale.

Hair Color -Revlon - Frost & Glow Highlighting Kit
cleogirl 9/18/2012 3:00:00 PM
**Edit - see at end of review for tips on retouching roots only ** I have used this product consistently for the past 20 years and it has never let me down. If it is your first time highlighting your hair, please read and follow the instructions to a T and remember to PLEASE ladies and gents, do the strand test! Here's what I think is important when using this product: If it's your first time, have someone with you to help you pull through the back. Start with hair that is tangle free and not freshly washed. I usually do mine the day after I've washed it. Figure out if you want all over highlights, face framing or a few strands and then map out where you're going to pull. I always find this works best for me when I brush my hair back before putting the cap on VS putting cap on when my hair is in it's normal part. This way, you're getting product evenly through your hair and not emphasizing one area (hope this makes sense). Start pulling from the lower sides upward so that you're not having to brush hair out of your face, the top of your head is last. Then do back of your head, working your way towards the front. When pulling, the needle should face up, this makes it much easier to pull, trust me. After all the hair is pulled, please brush through the strands with a fine tooth comb to make sure that all the hair is out of the hole evenly. Apply the product to the pulled through hair as directed. I do use a dye brush to do this. When your hair is processing, you will see it turn orange first, then yellow - don't panic, this is normal and is your color lifting. It will then turn blonde. The most important thing in highlighting your hair is THE LENGTH OF TIME you leave the product on your hair, this depends TOTALLY on your natural hair color. If your hair is already light, your processing time is less than someone who has dark hair. Again, read the instructions! When your processing time is done, untie the cap but leave it on and rinse out the product from the highlighted hair. I then add conditioner to it in order to help with removing the cap (it slides right off if you do this). When the cap is off, then shampoo and condition as usual. If your hair is already highlighted, you should apply the product only to the visible roots with a dye brush and process as usual. Avoid as much as possible, applying this product to already highlighted hair as it will fry your hair! Overall I've saved hundreds if not thousands over the years using this product and I love it an will always use it! Canadians - The cheapest I've found this product is at Superstore of all places at $9.99 regular price compared to $14.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart! **Tips For ROOT TOUCH UPS ONLY ** - Pull hair through cap as you would normally. Try as much as possible to pull in same way you did the first time, ie: same holes and same amount of hair - you can use the plastic needle that comes in the box or purchase one that suits how much hair you want to pull. I purchased a set of needles at Sally's that pull different amounts of hair and they work very well. - Don't worry about root touch up not matching old highlights exactly! If you map out where you're going to pull and how much to match what you did originally, IT WILL BLEND! - Place product on roots only, to do this, I use a small dye brush I purchased at Sally's. This process is very lengthy and meticulous, yes I go row by row, being very careful to place only on roots. I usually start from the back and work my way to the front of my head and then to the sides. -If you color your base as I do, do this first (roots only) then do your roots (highlights). I usually do my base color then do my roots for highlights 2 days later. This gives the base time to set as I only shampoo the next day and leaves a day in between the shampoo and the highlights.

Tools -Unlisted Brand - Ruby Stone Crystal Nail File
cleogirl 9/18/2012 10:09:00 AM
This nailfile has been a lifesaver for me recently as a product I was using completely destroyed my nails and I went through a 6 month period where my nails were weak, brittle and peeling like crazy. (See my review on SH Hard as Wraps) Using this has absolutely transformed my nail edges to make them very smooth and unbelievably strong! I can really feel a difference in how strong and solid they are. This file should not be used if you want to "file down" but only if you want to seal the edge and create a smooth finish. Have 2 of them and do not use anything else to file as I love it!

BB Cream -Marcelle - BB Cream Beauty Balm
cleogirl 9/7/2012 8:12:00 AM
Of the 3 BB Creams I've tried so far (Garnier, Maybelline + this one), this one is by far the best. Please note I have very oily, acne prone skin. The Garnier one left my skin looking like an oil field within 20 mins and the Maybelline one, although I loved the feel and consistency of it, broke me out. This one is kindof like a tinted moisturizer but doesn't look overly oily when set. The light shade matches my skin pretty well right now but not sure if it will still when my slight tan dissapears. Would recommend above the other two for oily skinned girls.

Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 88 Mirage Palette
cleogirl 9/7/2012 8:01:00 AM
Attention green eyed, warm skinned ladies!! Let me start by saying that I do own most of the "Coastal Scents" palettes including the warm, metallic, the originals, neutral and blush /eyeshadow combo etc. I've had this one for about a week now and I must say that it is by far my favorite one. The shades work beautifully with my green eyes and pale, warm skin as most of the shades are warm. Many of them are unique in that they do not appear in the other palettes. There are alot of red toned, browns, amber, gold and bronzes which I love. The consistency of these are smooth, buttery and very pigmented (save a few of the lighter shades) which leads me to believe that I received a "fresh" palette as some do complain about pigmentation. Also, as others have stated - these palettes are available from EBAY for much less money than ordering through Coastal Scents - I did purchase mine through CS as they were having a sale and wanted a few brushes and it ended up being cheaper than EBAY.

Polishes -OPI - Louvre Me Louvre Me Not
cleogirl 9/7/2012 7:52:00 AM
Love this shade for fall right now as it is dark but not "vampy". It does lean towards a cool tone but still suprisingly works well with my warm skin. I do not own anything like it. Fomula is opaque with 2 coats.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Hard as Wraps - Acrylic Gel
cleogirl 8/28/2012 11:36:00 AM
This product single handidly took my nails from strong and beautiful to a peeling weak mess. I purchased this product around Christmas time when I ran out of SH hard as nails thinking I would get the same results. I mainly used it a few days after my manicure to seal it in and prevent chipping and wear. Slowly over the course of the next 4-5 months, it literally destroyed my nails by causing them to peel and making them very brittle. Stupid me for not realizing that this was the culprit earlier but I would never ever recommend this product.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Doctor Burt's Res-Q Ointment
cleogirl 5/14/2012 2:52:00 PM
I purchased this recently after reading all the reviews on MUA. I started out using this on my dry, cracked cuticles and it works very, very well. It's much less greasy than the lemon butter and absorbs much more quickly. I've also used this on my dry, cracked heels and it works beautifully as well. My latest use (and most favorite) is to use it as an eye cream. I have super sensitive skin around the eyes and often get dry, scaly skin on the inner part of my lids. EVERY eye cream i've tried irritated the skin even worse and made the area super tender and sensitive. I've been using this around my eyes before bed at night for 1 weeks straight and wow! Im so impressed with this as an eye cream - It does not sting but moisturises, completely cleared up the scaly, red skin and leaves my eye area looking fresh and smooth. The best part is, when I wake up in the morning, my eyes are not irritated like with other creams Ive tried that have seeped into my eyes. Love Love Love this.

Polishes -Essence - Modern Romance
cleogirl 4/12/2012 9:03:00 AM
So impressed with this NP. First of all, it's dirt cheap (under $2 in Canada), but most importantly, the wear on this is incredible! I've had this on my nails for 1 full week and only had one chip and normal wear on the tips. The formula went on smoothly, was surprisingly opaque which is what I wanted and was perfect with 2 coats. The brush was good too. I have nothing bad to say about this NP and will be buying more from this line.

Lipstick -Essence - Lipstick in Coralize me! (55)

Love the price, packaging and smell of this cute little thing but the formula is too glossy for my liking and I prefer a lipstick with more staying power. Pretty shade though.

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
cleogirl 4/4/2012 8:26:00 AM
Got this recently when I was in the States and really like the product and the packaging. Love having both bronzer and blush in one sleek compact as it travels so well. Also love the big mirror inside. Wish the blush were a little more pigmented but for the price, can't complain!
