Fragrances -Gucci - Gucci Guilty
cleo777 9/5/2012 5:24:00 PM
At first I loved the lilac in this, but somewhere along the line this scent always ends up giving me a headache, and I don't have that with other perfumes. What a shame, because I loooooooove the original Gucci in the big square bottle with its yummy rootbeer-y vanilla scent, so I thought this one would be great too. I can't wear it anymore unless I take a preventative Advil LOL. Too bad! :(

Fragrances -City Cosmetics - Claire's Cotton Candy Perfume
cleo777 9/5/2012 5:12:00 PM
OK it isn't actually City Cosmetics, but I had to enter a brand and Claire's didn't show as a brand soooooo....normally known for their accessories, apparently Claire's is branching out. They have three fragrances, Sweet Sugar, Vanilla and Cotton Candy. Small bottles, probably half an ounce or so but retails for $7.50 CDN. That's right, $7.50!!!! And right now, it's BOGO for half price so what a deal hey. And it's actually a REALLY nice cotton candy scent, and it lasts! I was amazed I actually really liked it. I've been wearing it every day since I bought it. The Cotton Candy bottle has blue glitter around the sides and also silver confetti inside which is really cute and doesn't get inside the sprayer. It's a great size to slip in your makeup bag also. Win!!

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Axe Anarchy Body Spray For Her
cleo777 8/24/2012 2:02:00 PM
I found this quite by accident as well. Lovely and fruity, but doesn't last. I wouldn't suggest it as deodorant either, just as a light scent....VERY light...which is why I removed one lippy but other than that, it's super. Give it a try!

Treatments -Lancome - Visionnaire [LR 2412 4%]
cleo777 8/23/2012 3:58:00 PM
Way overpriced, why in the world did I buy it. $100? Really??? It is not worth the price, I found Sephora's Age-Defying Serum for $38 and I actually like it a lot better. However one thing it DID do is help to hide my eleven lines between my brows. But Visionnaire I found is a bit drying, so--bottom line, I wouldn't as it's just far too spendy, and other products are better.

Powder -Pur Minerals - 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup (new formula)
cleo777 8/23/2012 12:59:00 PM
I've been using this for a couple of years now and I love it. Great colors and great product. I have weird combination skin and this doesn't dry me out in the winter, and doesn't make me oilier in the summer so yay! And the SPF is helpful too.

Conditioner -Pantene - Pantene Smooth and Sleek Conditioner
cleo777 8/22/2012 1:52:00 PM
To be fair I haven't used it, just wanted to comment on AlisonJane's comment. I know, right?? I have always washed my hair and showered daily (hello, basic hygiene anyone?) and cannot understand how in the magazines etc. you always see people saying not to wash your hair every day. WTF??? And as an aside, a hairstylist once told me that during her training, they looked at hair under a microscope that had used Pantene products, and there was MOLD at the root!! MOLD?!??? Sheesh, if that's not enough to put a person off Pantene, what is????? Fail!! Much fail!!!

Fragrances -Lancome - La Vie Est Belle
cleo777 8/22/2012 1:44:00 PM
Well, here's my two cents on this. Loved it at first since I am a big fan of fruity gourmands, or just regular gourmands, but didn't like the drydown. Of course the nice fruity part disappears (sigh...as par usual) and you're left with the heavy-duty I'M A PERFUME smell that just makes you want to yock. I don't know much about "notes" but it was pretty darn strong. So no.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Happy Time Body Lotion
cleo777 7/27/2012 5:14:00 PM
I've had a bottle of this on my desk for a while now, and while the scent is okay, the moisturizing properties of it leave something to be desired. I really prefer Curel as a hand lotion, and Body Shop body butters for the rest. As someone who handles a lot of paper (hello, crappy cuticles and peeling nails! My favorite! :/ ) I need something more intensive. Meh!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Think Pink Bath Bomb
cleo777 7/27/2012 1:40:00 PM
Okay, so the deal with this one is you have to get one that's fresh. That way you get the best scent--I've learned over the years of buying them, they are so much better when they haven't been sitting on the store counters for months on end. And they fizz better also! I think they got it right, if pink had a scent this would be it. It's sweet and fluffy, very girly, a vanilla/flower concoction--but no headaches! Sometimes I find Lush a little hard to take, it's pretty intense walking by/and or in the store, all those perfumes are so strong--I find even my clothes smell like the store if I'm in there more than 10 minutes or so. Not that that's a bad thing! So I just grab what I need quickly and leave--and this bomb is usually one of 'em. Which reminds me, I need to get one! And of course it leaves your powder room smelling wonderful too....;)

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
cleo777 7/23/2012 2:43:00 PM
So I had to jump on the bandwagon and see what the fuss was all about in regards to these BB creams that seem to be all the rage now. I opted to try this one, and I like it. The color is good, not as scary dark as I thought at first--if you are dry/combination I would recommend a light moisturizer underneath as I notice I have a little flaky skin here and there. But no bad smell or adverse reactions so far. I intend to try a few others also before I decide for sure what to purchase again. The store only seemed to carry Light/Medium and Medium/Deep, but if you are more of a porcelain or light, I would suggest a different brand. Maybelline seemed to offer more shade choices, as does L'Oreal. It does seem to smooth out the skin and the coverage is medium. It's nice not to have to use foundation, why would you need to? Give it a try!

Fragrances -Jil Sander - No. 4
cleo777 7/23/2012 2:18:00 PM
I had this in the late 80's early 90's when it first came out, it was my go-to clubbing fragrance! I never thought of it as an oriental, more of a heavy-duty floral with amber or sandalwood or something? Anyway, it's funny how perfumes seem to age a person, or not, isn't it. I agree with a previous reviewer that perfumes nowadays seem to be super-light with no lasting power at all--the scent itself doesn't need to be strong, just lasting--I loved my Jil Sander. But, times/styles change I suppose, and now I find I'm more into gourmand/vanilla type scents. If you want one with personality especially for evening, and you can find it, Jil Sander is a good one to try.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Polysporin

Not surprising that this would help with drying out blemishes, considering it's an antibiotic ointment and blemishes are tiny infections, so.....good to know.

Cleansers -Sephora - Supreme Foaming Cleanser
cleo777 7/19/2012 2:32:00 PM
Just started using this and I like it! On the bottle it states it is suitable for sensitive skin (which I have). A couple of pumps of light foam on dry skin (don't wet it first), massage in and rinse. It removed all my makeup and cleansed my skin, it is totally unscented, I am a happy camper. Also trying the age-defy night cream, subtitled Sleeping Beauty, ha ha. Also quite nice. Not greasy at all, nice texture, and again, unscented. Pretty happy with this!

Fragrances -Pur Minerals - Pur Misting Fragrance
cleo777 7/18/2012 5:29:00 PM
On the one hand, it couldn't have a more generic name. Having said that, this is a very pretty scent which reminds me of the Jennifer Aniston perfume and also Glow by JLo, both are very jasmine-y and nice. It says on the bottle it has lemon and orange, jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla but mostly I smell the jasmine, which is quite nice. It comes in sort of a round spray bottle which looks like a body spray but is somewhere inbetween that and an EDT. In other words it's possible to overdo it, but not on one spray. Very hard to find, I have yet to see it in a store. I got mine in a "showstopper" package on TSC (Canada). Definitely a very good spring/summer scent!

Lip Gloss -Sephora - Pantone Universe Color of the Year - Tangerine Tango
cleo777 7/18/2012 2:57:00 PM
So I went a little loco with the Tangerine Tango as it is a stunning color! Bought the large palette (3 blushes, lipstick, lipgloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner) and added the lipgloss palette and nail polish. Now these colors are great if you are brown/black hair and eyes; probably a bit bright for those who are fair, but it's all subjective isn't it. Anyhoo, my favorite of the four lipglosses is the Tangerine Luminous, with a little gold shimmer that is very pretty. There is also one with a pinkish shimmer which looks a bit more on the coral side, one that is pretty much a tangerine sparkle, and one that is plain tangerine with no shimmer. All terrific! Just for fun I'd like to also review the Tangerine eye pencil in the large pallette. At my age (50) I figured there was no way I could pull that off--but I tried it on the outer "v" of my eye with my regular dark liner on top, and is it ever cool!! Edgy but not too punk. Coworker liked it. Hubby said it was very sexy!! So there ya go. The only thing is, I wouldn't wear this color with black clothing or risk it looking like part of a Halloween costume! Neutrals are best with this. Does it ever look great with a tan, as well as tan clothing. Be bold girls! Summer's not the time for neutral makeup, what the magazines are saying is bright, bright, bright for summer. Love it!!!!
