Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
chynnadoll21 3/2/2012 4:13:00 AM
How is this moisturizer still so popular when based on ratings it clearly does not seem like a good product??? I used this in my teens and did not like it. Didn't seem to moisturize enough and no significant difference in my skin. My friend, on the other hand, swears by it, even using it on her lips. She loves loves this, but sadly, for me, even with my pretty flawless skin back in those days, this seemed to make it worse and not better.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
chynnadoll21 3/2/2012 4:10:00 AM
Hmm I just did a review on the toner thinking maybe it was just me that didn't like this 3-step system, but if the review stats area anything to go by, it appears 60% will NOT repurchase, out of over 1000+ that's a pretty significant number!! I like some Clinique products but their basic 3 step did not work for me.

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #2
chynnadoll21 3/2/2012 4:07:00 AM
Used this in my teens, didn't like the alcohol, went through 2 whole sets of the entire 3 step range. Tried the one for normal skin, dried me out, then tried the one for dry skin and didn't clean me well I felt. Can't say this is a bad product since it's been on the market for like FOREVER and my housemate at the time used it too and her acne skin cleared up tremendously (oh yea, back then I had prob free pretty perfect skin) So yea, didn't work for me but must have redeeming qualities considering its survival all these years.

BB Cream -BRTC - Jasmine Water BB Cream SPF 30 PA++
chynnadoll21 3/2/2012 12:01:00 AM
I really wanted the BRTC Aqua Rush but it was OOS. So left deciding between this and the caviar and finally purchased this due to the lighter shade. I am NC20/25 for ref and I must say this is slightly too light for my skin but I like it that way. For those who like their bb and fndt to match exactly then this would be too light. Would prefer a pump. Lovely scent, low-medium coverage, dewy finish but leaves my skin feeling matter and not greasy unlike my other skin 79 one. After 10 hours of travelling, hot, humid polluted weather, I found that it didnt feel *yucky, greasy, dirty* (I don't use any facial blotters/tissue/powder touch-ups troughout the day) I have been using this 4 days straight, so far no breakouts, don't see any significant clogging. I am liking this for now and this is a great intro to the BRTC line. Am eager to try their other bb's Edit 5/5/12 : After purchasing both the gold caviar and aqua rush, jasmine and caviar are my equal faves however nether are perfect. Jasmine has great scent, great blendability, looks dewy and not oily. However, shade is slightly too light and the SPF is not high enough at 28++. Caviar is darker tint, heavier and oillier but richer for dry skins and higher SPF 50+++ . I was disappointed initially that the aqua rush was out of stock but I managed to order it online for the same price but a bigger size! So that was good. Overall Jasmine is a nice in between of caviar and aqua rush. (Though aqua rush is targetted for dry skin, the Jasmine one is MUCH MUCH better. Aqua actually leaves me more matte, better for oily skins IMO)

Skincare - Face -Avene - Sensitive White
chynnadoll21 3/1/2012 11:44:00 PM
I'm entering this into the database first because I haven't come across any reviews for this here on MUA, and this range is not on the avene french/us site. So I'm interested if anyone has tried this out. I will review each product individually once I've tried it out. For now this is a neutral rating This is a description of the Complete Avene Sensitive White (SW) Range (extracted from the brochure I received) "Lighter, brighter and more radiant skin. Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium
chynnadoll21 2/28/2012 8:19:00 AM
Mac fan but not loving this. I'm NC20-25 and I have this in the lighter shade. As a setting powder, left me looking ashy n chalky. Tip from the Mac SA : set with your regular powder and use this for touch ups. So that's what I do. Does work better but I'm thinking that's cos my lightful is great and I'm just only using very little of this so the effects aren't visible. Lasts a long time but will not be repurchasing

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - 3M - Nexcare Acne Patch
chynnadoll21 2/28/2012 6:57:00 AM
Thanks MUA for the reviews on this. I'd bought a small packet out of curiosity but had forgotten about it till I read the raves about it online. Needless to say I came back here I check out what the MUA community had to say about it. Happy, I gave it a try. And I'm glad I did. Don't expect it to clear up acne or anything, but it does what it's supposed to do. Sucks the sebum out overnight. Leaves the spot visibly flattened and easier to heal with your topical treatment afterwards. Great for spots you don't wanna pop for fear of scarring. I pierce the tip of the zit (which has formed a head) and stick the patch on. Also, I dunno if anyone else has experienced zits which, once popped (& emptied) fills up again the next day?? Well for me, I found that this patch helped to draw out the pus which made it easier to extract with just a tissue and light pressure. So for the price, it's a great product. I'm just not sure about the hygiene since once you break the seal, there's not much else. Also over time, I'm wondering if the product'll dry out? Other than that, great! And cheap to try. Sounds gimmicky but actually works!!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid
chynnadoll21 2/27/2012 1:39:00 AM
I had high hopes for this. My friend used it, and her skin looked improved and after all the MUA reviews, I bought a bottle. Cheap for the amount you're getting. I had dehydrated skin so I thought 4-6 drops would be fine, but I've noticed a sprout of small bumps on one cheek and on the jawline. I stopped usage of another product which I thought was the cause of it and continued with this. However when I applied this to my neck for the first time last night, I woke up with a zit on my neck just below the jawline. I didn't think it was the hyaluronic acid which was causing the bumps seeing that most reviewers mentioned it was great and didn't cause any breakouts, however, I beg to differ. I will wait for my skin to clear up and then try 1-2 drops as reflected by some others. I googled Hyaluronic Acid and breakouts and there seemed to be very little cases of breakouts (they were a few) so I'm gonna give this product another go but in a lesser dose. The reason for my persistence : I was looking for a toner which would moisturize and not leave a tight feeling once evaporated and was a hydrating as opposed to an emollient toner so this one really fit the bill. Here's keeping my fingers crossed Edit : 7/3/12 : got impatient so I waited for the breakout to get better but not completely cleared and since I'd used their mask with no adverse reactions I tried this 1-2 drops this time for the whole face and neck and rinsed it off after 2 hours jus to be safe. Thanks for the extra zit the next morning!! At the same area where I'd broken out previously!!!! I seriously don't gettit ! How is the masks ok n the toner not??? Giving up as of now. Will probably jus use it on my legs.

Bronzers -The Body Shop - Shimmer Waves in Bronze
chynnadoll21 2/21/2012 5:17:00 AM
I have the older colour which is more peachy. I saw this and was tempted to get this as a bronzer. I've used mine to highlight the cheekbones and the just under the brow, on the collarbone and it's great to achieve a bronzey dewy look. And also it seems to lasts forever so tho it's a bit pricey, it's quite worth the money. Pigmented and long staying power. Don't over do it cos it's pretty shimmery.

Toners -Avene - Gentle Protective Toner
chynnadoll21 2/18/2012 3:59:00 AM
Also received a sample of this. Pros : No stinging, not irritating, watery consistency, dries easily, no sticky feeling aftewards. Cons : Why oh why must it feel taut after drying???? So far haven't found any toner which leaves my skin feeling *soft* and not tight after it dries. However, a sample is not enough to warrant an in-depth review so I will purchase this in full size. Till then :)

Treatments (Eye) -Avene - Eluage Eye Contour
chynnadoll21 2/18/2012 3:55:00 AM
I received a sample of this from the SA at Guardian, she's nice, gave me a whole bunch of samples :) Been using this day and night for the past 5 days. My under eye is pretty firm but I've got a fine line on both eyes. Nothing has worked so far, and this hasn't either. Does feel hydrated and soft and doesn't mess up my eye concealer afterwards but I guess for me, it's more of a preventive cream. I heard that you can use the Eluage cream for the under eye area too so I'll give that a try.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto - Waterproof
chynnadoll21 2/18/2012 3:27:00 AM
Does provide lengthening effect. Not too clumpy and I love that as a waterproof mascara, it wasn't as hard to remove as Fasio (which is what I've been using before but is a KILLER to remove!!) Nice cute packaging.Don't like the look of the messy bristles but otherwise it does that job and delivers as promised and works well given the price range.

Tools -Unlisted Brand - AB Mezical-Double Eyelid Eyelift Fibers
chynnadoll21 2/16/2012 7:12:00 AM
These are basically another eyelid product to create double eyelids (if you have a mono lid / hooded lids) These came in a 60pc pack for USD12.60, which is pretty pricey for eyelid products but it's definitely worth it! Its basically a stretch fiber which creates a temporary double eyelid with oh so natural results! A must-try for those who haven't had much success with glues (sticky!! messy!!) and tapes (visible!!hard to apply makeup over!!) Packaging is good. Nice and compact translucent box. Probable a little different from other eyelid products cos it doesn't come with a double prong. Instead it has a single pointed *stick* with a palette like end. Though I'm not sure what this is for?? The best thing about this is the fact that i can apply makeup over this !!! So I'm delighted :) Here's a product video link for those who are curious !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwJiQ-xr-Mo

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - Koji Eye Talk
chynnadoll21 2/16/2012 7:04:00 AM
I haven't had much luck with other glues so I thought I'd try this one since it has numerous good review. I'm not disappointed as it works as stated, does stay on. But it's probably just my type of eyelids which produces a weird effect. I will try it as a glue for false eyelashes. In any case, the double/single prong is useful (compared to the other cheaper glues which only comes with a double prong) and the ring design to store it on the bottle is GREAT!! cos I keep losing the other prongs :) Will review on the fibre for eyelids which I recommend the other reviewers below to give a try. Makeup Brushes -Etude - Stippling Brush
chynnadoll21 2/11/2012 7:11:00 AM
So here I am thinking... how is it everyone is raving on about stippling brushes aka skunk brushes? I was intrigued so much so that I rushed out to purchase one. I only managed to find one by Etude but I'd read some good reviews on it, some ppl even comparing it to their mac ones. But when I tried it, it made my foundation flaky and uneven. Not giving up, (since it was only my first try) I checked out more Youtube tutorials on how to stipple and swirl. Trying again with my mac mineralize satinfinish, (usually I blend with fingers) I still couldn't get the hang of it. My face looked streaky and patchy and the powder seemed to be clumping to areas on my skin. I DID NOT get the airbrushed effect everyone was raving about! I must've tried this 5/6 times before finally accepting that either I just CAN"T stipple or this brush mustn't be that great. Well I am writing a review now because I just tried the brush again with my matte full coverage BB cream and OMIGOD!!! I couldn't believe that was me in the mirror! It's true what they say, my skin looks flawless and I finally achieved that airbrushed effect. *Ahem* I almost feel like an amateur makeup artist *lol* I tried the brush again with my MAC creme blush and swirled it on my cheeks. Very impressed with the again airbrushed effect. So now, I am in love and for my first stippling brush, I am satisfied. For only BND20 + (Brunei Dollars) it's considered pricey here but not as much as MAC's brushes which doesn't retail here. Can't wait to try other skunks :)
