Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
christi4200 12/13/2011 10:10:00 PM
Ok i just have to write this review now. Let me first say that these truly are HARD to find at least in my area of the east coast, U.S. I literally went to like 8 drug stores one day to try and find more of these after picking up 4 when I was at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. The B, B, & B is about 20-30 mins away (depending on traffic) and I happened to be xmas shopping w/my brother there. Well, it's just inconvenient to drive all the way back there simply for the purpose of lip butters, so I thought I'd try and find them locally. I checked ALL the Walgreens, Rite Aids, Walmarts, Kmarts, and other smaller drug stores in my area, and no luck! Guess I'll have to head back to BB&B! Anyway, these are awesome! Moisturizing, pigmented, but sheer, if that makes sense. They're buildable, so u can achieve that full on look if you desire. Some of the shades are far more sheer than others, the reds are much more dramatic. I have candy apple, cupcake, creme brulee, and pink truffle. LOVE them all! I dont think they're over hyped at all, they rock!! I only wish I would've picked up more than 4!! I plan to collect alot of them, but I'm gonna wait for a BOGO sale. They were reasonably priced at B,B,& B at $5.59. They're going for 12$ on ebay tho!**** P.S. I just wanted to add to this that other DS brands do have tinted lip balms, yes, that is true, and believe me when I say I have tried them all, LOL> That being said, these are NOT tinted lip balms. NONE of those other products from Burts Bees, CG, Jordana, etc are the same as these! Revlon lip butters are much more pigmented than tinted lip balms, and they are much more like very moisturizing lip sticks, but yet different-they're a lipgloss/lipbalm/lipstick- a lipstiglbalm!! There, I've got it, the perfect description haha (sorry I'm an idiot.) I've also been trying these drug store lip products over a decade longer than some other reviewers LOL, so trust me, these are different!!

Treatments (Eye) -Good Skin - Eyliplex-2 Eye Lift + Circle Reducer
christi4200 11/26/2011 10:15:00 PM
I like this eye cream alot. It has many beneficial ingredients as well. I always read ingredients in skincare before I buy it. I used to work at Kohl's, so I got an employee discount, plus this was on sale, plus I had Koh'ls cash, so I paid like 2$ for this. I also picked up one for my brother, who suffers from the same hereditary dark circles/puffiness as I do. The day gel really firms up and depuffs and soothes my eyes in the morning, and the night cream side is very soothing and moisturizing as well. As long as ur not expecting a miracle, I do recommend it, and I generally think eye creams are a scam and a waste of money. This one is really not bad at all tho! I wash my hands with antibacterial soap before applying this, so the jar packing doesn't bother me, and I'm not convinced that air and light kill antioxidants just because Paula Begoun says so. I am, however, in the process of further researching this. Anyway, pretty good stuff!

Concealers -E.L.F. - Studio Corrective Concealer
christi4200 11/23/2011 1:37:00 PM
Well normally I wouldn't even bother to write a review for a crappy product, especially a cheap, crappy product, but this one was just over the top crappy, and when I saw a review for this come up on the MUA homepage today, I just had to add my thoughts. This was the WORST concealer in the world. Zero pigmentation. ZERO. LOL. I honestly don't even understand why they'd even make it, because I have alot of e.l.f. products that I like, and their 1$ concealer, I have heard is decent. I just picked this up cuz the pink color looked possibly promising for brightening undereyes, but now this is a toy for my 2 yr. old lil girl, who is getting into playing with makeup lol. She LOVES it! Ha.

Concealers -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
christi4200 10/16/2011 9:22:00 PM
Really good concealer, and I am a bit of an expert on concealers, high end and DS. I have this in ivory, and it is not too pink and not too yellow. It's slightly yellow, but more neutral than anything else. It's great for undereye circles, just be sure to use a primer underneath first, a step I left out for yrs, until I became aware of how important it is to prime under ur eyes! I usually don't wear foundation, just concealer, so I didn't think I needed primer. But primer really helps any concealer not settle into any fine lines, not crease, and tremendously helps the staying power! Anyway, this is a great natural looking concealer, blends well, not drying, minimal creasing(even w/out primer), and I just got one BNIB on ebay for only 2 bucks and free shipping! I'm always on the lookout for a deal..I won't order most high end makeup off ebay cuz it's usually fake, but nobody bothers to make fake DS makeup! If not, this is like 9 bucks at Walgreens, which seems kind of expensive but it seems like that's the norm these days! Would highly recommend this concealer.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
christi4200 10/1/2011 8:02:00 PM
Great product!! I have the smashbox jet set waterproof e/l, which the Sephora S/A rec'd and I've heard from lots of ppl is supposed to be so great and it sucks. This little ol' Maybelline e/l kicked Smashbox's liners ass.Who woulda thought? It is opaque, stays on my waterline/upper lashine for hrs, and the brush that comes with it is brilliant. I have black and brown...now if they would only come out with all the awesome colors that BB has!! ****UPDATE- This is still a decent budget eyeliner, and still kick's Smashbox's ass (which is $22!) but MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack is my new HG! And it's only $15! If you can, spend the extra 6 or 7 bucks, and go for that, it's creamier, more pigmented, and lasts way longer...I still love the Maybelline brush tho, I use it with my Fluidine now!! And I am on a budget too, bigtime, but I cut back on my DS purchases and now opt for less quanity, higher quality!!****

Treatments -Beyond Belief - Vita C Antioxidant Serum
christi4200 9/13/2011 4:53:00 PM
This is an effective, inexpensive Vit C/Antioxidant serum that you will actually see results with. I can't believe more people aren't raving about it, honestly! The ingredients in this are better than so many overpriced, dept store/Sephora skincare products. It comes in an opaque pump bottle so the serum never gets exposed to air or light, which as many of u know kill the antioxidants. It isn't irritating in any way, it makes my skin glow, AND, now here is my fav part, which is most likely different from everyone else's reviews (i haven't read them all)- it makes a fabulous base for a DIY vit c serum!! I get jars of L-Ascorbic acid powder from my local health food store for quite cheap. I was making my own vit c serum from just l-ascorbic acid powder and water, sometimes adding glycerin as well. After awhile, I decided I wanted my serum to contain more antioxidants, and I hated how the glycerin made it all sticky. But to make it myself, loaded with antioxidants, would've been pretty expensive, and time consuming, so I decided one day to just add some of my L-Ascorbic acid powder to this serum to make it more potent, and OMG it worked wonders. A-mazing results! What a fabulous and EASY and QUICK idea if I do say so myself! Just wanted to pass that along on the chance that someone else could benefit from my fabulous idea too! If not, this serum is good on its' own too. I just like something to pack a little extra punch, that's all, because it seems like whenever I use a product a lot, my skin starts getting used to it, and it doesn't work as well. I know I'm not the only one that's experienced this: You start using a product, and it works soo good, and then after some time, u are no longer seeing those results, and ur skin goes back to how it used to look, or it kind of reaches a plateau, and won't improve anymore. I solved that problem by simply making it more powerful. The form of vitamin C in this serum is Ascorbyl Palmitate, which is not as potent as L-Ascorbic acid, but the two combined? That has to be better, right? Makes sense to me. My dark circles have lightened up a good bit, the overall clarity of my skin has improved, pores look smaller, my few fine lines have diminished (nothing miraculous, but def diminished), and my skin is just brighter and healthier looking! If ur just starting out with a vit c product, this would be ideal, and then as u get used to it, u can make it more potent if u desire. Ok, I'll shut up now:) Oh, yeah, and it is sold at Sally's Beauty for less than 10$, just in case u don't know that.

Mascara -Prestige - My Biggest Lashes
christi4200 9/11/2011 5:55:00 PM
AMAZING!! This gives u big, fabulous, clump-free lashes!! It actually lives up to its' name. WOW. It doesn't matter how many coats I put on, it does not clump!! I think these pics do not do it justice. I am so sick of these creepy mascara pics on like every single mascara review. So plz don't judge this mascara by the spooky pictures. Before MUA I had never even looked twice at Prestige in the DS, so thank u MUA and also Lisa Eldridge for mentioning Prestige mascaras. This can dry out pretty fast tho, which is why I give it a 4 and not a 5. I also love my longest lashes, and my blackest lashes.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Heather Silk
christi4200 9/11/2011 11:58:00 AM
This is a very pretty rosey pink matte blush. It gives a wonderful healthy, natural glow to ur complexion and is highly pigmented, so u only need a tiny bit. Yes, the packaging is a bit cheap, WnW has to cut their costs somewhere so they can bring us quality DS products for cheap! I think this cost me $1.99. I can't believe some reviewers would actually rate this product low just because theirs broke in their make up bag! It happens with very soft powders like this, but that doesn't mean the blush sucks. People baffle me. Well, these WnW powder products can break easily, but I DO tote mine around with me, I keep it in my make up compartment of my purse, which is the little inside zippered part, and it hasn't broken. I've had it for months. I LOVE how soft, blendable, and pigmented WnW blushes are. Worth the 2 bucks. And if mine broke, I'd just go buy a new one and spend 2 more whole dollars lol. I'm getting to be the queen of good DS makeup lol. Just from watching a ton of reviews on YT and reading them on here, and trying a ton of diff products, so believe me when I tell u this is a good blush! I rarely give 5 stars unless something is completely amazing, but it's def good, especially for a DS blush.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
christi4200 9/7/2011 11:46:00 PM
I love this lipstick, it just goes to show u that u can't always believe bad reviews! If you exfoliate your lips first, this will help tremendously with how this looks. I have a jar of a simple lip scrub I made at home using brown sugar and EVOO. You could use any kind of oil you have around. Except motor oil. Haha ok sorry. U could also use regular sugar if u don't have brown sugar, I just find brown sugar to be gentler. Anyway, this is also one of Lisa Eldridge's fav lippies, as she states in a couple of her videos. She uses it a lot on clients, and on herself...If it's good enough for Lisa E, it's good enough for me :) Like I said, make sure lips are well exfoliated before using and use a lip balm first. What I like to do is put on a thick coat of vasoline after exfoliating my lips, let it sit for a min or two, then wipe it off. Then apply Nude Attitude in a smooth even coat. You can layer it if u need to, just use thin coats. Don't press your lips together too much, that makes the application all uneven and crappy looking. I like the color of this when I'm looking for a truly nude lip with no brown, peach, or pink. Top with gloss if desired,(I often do) and off u go!

Lips -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream
christi4200 9/6/2011 11:34:00 PM
Absolutely great product. I can't believe it's a DS product, it's amazing. Long lasting, non drying, great color selection, actually makes my lips feel softer!! And it's matte, which makes this just about one of a kind! I've heard the U.K. brand Collection 2000 has a very similar product that Lisa Eldridge raves about in one of her vidz, that's why i said 'just about' one of a kind. There is no store near me that carries NYX, so I order mine off of nonpareil.com, my order was shipped the day after I ordered, and the shipping was free becuz I ordered over $25 I believe. I only wish I would've gotten more colors!! I have Amsterdam and Milan. Both fabulous. However, I did expect a matte lip cream to have better staying power since it's matte, and it's not very long lasting, hence the 4 lippies. However, I still highly recommend!!

Lip Treatments -E.L.F. - Studio Lip Conditioning Balm in Mellow Melon
christi4200 9/2/2011 9:29:00 PM
I really like the color of this, the smell/taste, and the conditioning properties of it! It's a teeny bit sticky, but I don't mind that because I think that makes it stay on better. Like others have said, the bulky packaging doesn't make sense and u have to use a lip brush to apply it because when u use your clean finger, it makes it sticky and colored! I would repurchase tho, because I do love the color. Better non bulky packaging that u don't have to stick ur finger in and this would be a 5.

Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Secret Brightening Powder
christi4200 9/2/2011 7:58:00 PM
I shouldn't have spent so much money on this. I heard so many good things about it, but pretty much everything is different for everyone I suppose. I was (and still am!) looking for the perfect powder to set concealer under my eyes that doesn't settle into my natural lines. I've always had a couple lines under my eyes, even when I was young, I think it's just the way some people's undereyes are. Anyway, this powder isn't any different than my E.L.F. HD powder imho. It does set my concealer on other parts of my face pretty well, but as far as my undereyes, I was definitely disappointed with it. Now, some reviews I've read say that this powder MINIMIZES peoples' fine lines/wrinkles under their eyes. I have tried a few different application methods, but maybe I'm not doing it right, idk. So if anyone has any tips for me, PM me, I'd love to hear them!! As of now, I would not repurchase.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
christi4200 8/11/2011 4:35:00 AM
I've tried this a few times just to make sure it sucks. I always do that because I really want to like everything I buy! Don't we all? *sigh* But I digress, this really is the pits. It is clumpy as all hell. The brush takes out so much product, even wiping the wand, like i've done with other mascaras didn't help! And imo u shouldn't ever have to wipe the wand, because that wastes so much mascara if u have to do it every time. I have the wp version, and it's certainly NOT waterproof, as I learned when I went swimming last week. I didn't even wipe my eyes or anything, and it was all down my face. Good thing I looked in the mirror to check, because I was lookin pretty crazy. I am so sick of DS mascaras, even my fav, CG Lash Blast Volume, which I recently repurchased, only to discover that it's just not as awesome as I remember...it's still my fav DS mascara tho... I think I'm gonna spring for a HE one.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm
christi4200 7/27/2011 11:43:00 PM
This product isn't great. In theory it is a great idea, the stain with the balm on the other end. Apparently I am certainly not alone with the balm end breaking after just a couple uses. And I am not rough on my lip balm lol. Because of that, I gave it a 1 for packaging. The stain end also dries out very quickly. Use your money for something else like Revlon matte lipstick!

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Sun-In - Highlighting Spray
christi4200 7/25/2011 8:01:00 AM
OMG I was getting sooo sick of reading the reviews on here from people with BLACK hair that said, "this product ruined my hair, I wouldn't recommend, blah blah blah." Well, it specifically says on the directions not recommended for hair that dark. Hmmmm. Some people are just mental and it drives me crazy! Ok, I'm done. Currently my hair is blonde, and I use this to keep my roots less noticeable in between my dye jobs, and it works great! Even when my hair was light brown when I was younger, this gave me pretty blonde highlights, and I loved it. This can dry out your hair, so I deep condition after using it, and that solves the problem. Yes, I would recommend this, if your hair is LIGHT. If not, then duh, YMMV. Oh, btw I have had trouble with this spray bottle, sometimes it clogs, and I have had it break too and had to put it in a different bottle. So I gave it a 4 for packaging. Other than that, no problems with this. If your hair is already damaged, SKIP this, it'll fry it more.
