Lipstick -MAC - Frost Lipstick in B-Cup
rated 5 of 5

I purchased this color because I love MAC Oyster Girl lipglass. This is a fairly sheer pearly light whitish pink with a lavendar irridescence similar to Oyster Girl but more dramatic and more pale in color. It looks great with a dark grey smokey eye and soft pink cheeks. I agree it can be a color that may wash you out and it can look porn star-esque so it isn't for everybody, but worn very sheerly with the right lip liner it can look gorgeous- I like to top it with Oyster Girl to bring out the pearl irridescence.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture shampoo
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 4:59:00 PM

This is the best moisturizing shampoo I have used yet! This creamy golden concoction smells fresh and fruity and imparts a nice rich lather. It leaves my hair very moisturized but the best part is that this shampoo acts like a conditioner in that just this shampoo alone enables me to detangle my long dyed dark blonde hair easily- and that's saying a lot! I don't normally use this together with the matching deep conditioner, because it makes my hair go limp and I like to have volume in my hair.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 4:56:00 PM

This is my HG deep conditioner. I use this by itself a couple times a week whenever my hair long, dyed dark blonde hair is feeling parched and also after my Aphogee treatments. It smells really good (fresh and fruity) and this thick rich frothy cream not only moisturizes my hair like crazy but it makes detangling a breeze- my hair is normally a tangled nightmare but after I use this I never need a leave in detangler afterwards. The only complaint is that I wish they didn't have this in tubbs but in bottles or squeeze tubes instead. Have repurchased several times and will continue to repurchase.

Polishes -OPI - Melon of Troy
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 3:28:00 PM

I love the quality of OPI nailpolishes and this is one of my all-time favorite colors that I will always repurchase if and every time I run out. It is a gorgeous and complex light peach/apricot color with some subtle shimmer that is not sheer. Something about the color is really elegant as well. I love it on my tips as well as my toes and I wear this year-round but in the summer it looks awesome against tanned skin.

Polishes -OPI - Bubble Bath
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 3:23:00 PM

This color is a lot like Essie Ballet Slippers- sheer milky white with a hint of pink but I think Ballet Slippers had more pink and Bubble Bath is more white. I don't like how runny and streaky Essie nail polishes are and prefer OPI, so this was the perfect replacement. I agree with the post below that as with all sheer milky colors, one coat looks best with this nail polish, b/c otherwise it is more white and I don't like that look. In general I prefer dark or bold colors but I do believe everyone should have a milky white "your nails but better" color in their arsenal.

Top/Base Coats -OPI - Ridge Filler
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 3:11:00 PM

This and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri topcoat are my HGs for nails. I have tons of ridges in my nails and even when I haven't buffed them in 6 months and they are really bad, I can just put a coat of this ridge filler and it gives me a smooth finish. It dries really fast and gives you an opaque white powdery finish, which intensifies my nail polish colors- w/o this I need two coats but with this I only need one coat and the color comes out richer. The only con is if you intentially want your nail polish color to be sheer, you should just buff and skip the ridge filler and use a clear base coat if a base coat is desired.

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 3:03:00 PM

I love this nail polish color- it's from the fall Chicago collection I believe. I had no problems with this color being gloppy or thick and I can even apply one single coat and have a nice rich color- but two coats look better. I prefer this on my fingernails when my nails are short for that punk/goth look. It is the perfect vampy dark color I was looking for; I didn't want a pure black color but I didn't want a black/red either. This one is perfect.

Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Big Sexy Hair - What a Tease - Backcomb in a Bottle
rated 4 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 1:59:00 PM

I religiously tease my hair (I love that Bridget Bardot bedhead volume). I have long hair but it has lots of layers especially at the top. My stylist used this on me and I had to buy it. I tease at the crown, spray this product, then I use a blow dryer to ensure it is dry and voila! I have to play with it a little to make it look more natural but this product is so strong that it is a little difficult. The good thing is that it REALLY keeps it lifted and has great staying power. My hair is long so it's difficult to keep the teased hair full of volume but this manages to keep it that way- I can style it today and not wash my hair tomorrow and it will still look the same. The cons of this product is that it crusts (but it's sprayed in a section of hair nobody will see so who cares), can be difficult to use due to how strong the hold is (once it's been sprayed and has dried it's pretty much going to stay like that until you wash it), and the thing clogs like crazy after every use (I have to unclog it every time with some warm or hot water). In general I love this product and I will purchase again unless I find better.

Conditioner -Aveda - curessence [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 1:51:00 PM

This is my HG protein conditioner. I have long hair that is naturally dark brown dyed to an auburn with tons of blonde highlights with a slight wavy texture that I like to heat style to create volume with curl at the ends. I read on the hair boards that protein is needed to strengthen hair and regular protein conditioners should not be used daily but the Aveda Cureesence is made out of plant proteins and is safe to use daily if needed. Although I do not like the smell, I don't care, because the most important thing to me is that the product does it job well and makes my hair healthier or keeps it healthy, which this product does for me. I use it a couple times a week or whenever I feel it is particularly damaged. After I use it my hair feels thicker and stronger and overal healthier- but it does not have good slip for detangling I need to use a separate leave-in detangler afterwards. I have never used the matching Curessence shampoo yet; normally I use Kenra Clarifying shampoo before I use this product with good results.

Conditioner -Aveda - Styling Curessence (spray)
rated 3 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 1:46:00 PM

Although I loved the Curessence conditioner I did not love the styling spray. First of all I do not like the herbal smells of Aveda products- the conditioner is okay since you rinse it out and the smell does not linger but the spray is one of the last things you use on your hair and the smell tends to linger longer and I don't want to walk around smelling like herbal medicines. As for detangling it does a decent job but I do not feel that this product is exceptional in any way and have liked other detanglers better. I feel like the curessence conditioner makes a noticeable difference in making my hair feel better/healthier but the styling spray doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Shampoo -Rene Furterer - Okara Shampoo for Color-Treated Hair
rated 4 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 1:42:00 PM

I have long hair that is naturally dark brown dyed to an auburn with blonde highlights that I like to heat style and I'm constantly in search of luxurious hair products to keep it looking healthy. The interesting thing about this shampoo is that it tells you to lather 2x: first lather and rinse then 2nd lather and leave in for several minutes like a mask. It is a creamy pale yellow color and it smells like chemicals very much like Terax Crema conditioner and it imparts an instant rich lather (I have tried sulfate-free shampoos in the past but I NEED for my shampoos to lather so I love this). This shampoo is gentle yet effective and not only does it keep my color fresh BUT it really truly makes it look much healthier after I use it! I deducted one lippie due to the fact that it smells like Terax Crema conditioner and the exorbitant price tag ($23 at Sephora).

Highlighters -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Blush in All Over Shimmer - 832D [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 10/7/2005 1:34:00 PM

This is my HG highlighting product. I also like to use Revlon Skinlights both in the liquid and loose powder forms. The Wet n' Wild all over shimmer is the most convenient to use and it imparts the most natural looking surreal and gorgeous glow to the face. It is extremely cheap but hard to find but I've seen it at Walgreens and some Walmarts for around $3. The packaging is simple and in the pan it is a very light champagne color with a light pink tinge. After I do all my makeup I apply this right after my blush with a contour brush down the bridge of my nose and on the tops of my cheeks under my eye area. Everyone should give this a try!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 9/30/2005 2:45:00 PM

I love taupes and bronzes and any eyeshadows that are shimmery. I wish I had owned this one sooner, it is gorgeous! It's a shimmery yet neutral eyeshadow that is a silvery brown shade I like to wear on my crease just by itself with a little highlight color on my brow like MAC pigment in Vanilla and lined with black eyeliner for a foolproof everyday eye look.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
rated 5 of 5
chocmartini00 9/30/2005 2:38:00 PM

I have found my HG liner! Normally I use a liquid black eyeliner but a lot of the felt tip applicators I've had trouble with in the past; they gave me a hard time drawing a precise line. I think it's the combination of the Paula's Choice eye lining brush and this fluidline eyeliner from MAC that gives me the perfect line in one quick swipe. It has a very nice creamy gel-like consistency and it creates a very rich color that does not wear off during the day at all. Previously I have tried liquid eyeliners from Almay and Revlon and with those, I always had to correct mistakes with wet q-tips but I never make a mistake with this one. Only downfalls are that it's kind of expensive and that I now have to wash my eye lining brush daily after each use, but it's definately worth it! I figure I can use up more of my MAC bruch cleaner and that and this cute eyeliner jar can go towards my growing pile for Back 2 MAC for free lippies!

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Dual Phase Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
chocmartini00 9/19/2005 7:24:00 PM

This is one of the most effective eye makeup removers I have used (the oil-based ones are the most effective I think). This is very effective and cheap! You simply shake it up before using it on a cotton pad; I rim my eyes with eyeliner so I like to use this on a Q-tip as well to more precisely remove everything. My only compliant it is the oily residue, which is why I stopped using this one and switched.
