Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Strawberry Milkshake 3 in 1
blissgirl 5/31/2005 4:50:00 PM
Love the smell! - a slightly synthetic strawberry smell that reminds me of my Strawberry Shortcake doll that I had growing up :) The lather is fabulous and bubbly and makes showering fun. I get enough lather on my legs with this - so I don't need a separate shaving cream. It comes in a convenient travel-sized (4.5oz) bottle now, too.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Shadow Pots Eye Mousse in Smoke
blissgirl 5/31/2005 4:37:00 PM
I love *smoke*. I usually wear neutral shadows, so this is a change for me. On my lid, this is the perfect shade of shimmery silver-grey-blue that can look different depending on the lighting. (Looks bluer in natural light - greyer indoors). It has just the right amount of shimmer to it. I'm PPP and this is perfect for a slightly smokey eye. It's just enough color and darkness to add depth. I wear it with *honey* on the browbone. With Urban Decay *Primer Potion*, this lasts all day without smudging or creasing. UPDATE: I started using this as a liner, too - and it works wonderfully! I do a thicker line on the upper lid, to give color. And a thinner smudged line on the bottom. Works beautifully and makes my green eyes glow.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Liquid Bronze
blissgirl 5/9/2005 3:43:00 PM
*Liquid Bronze* is THE BEST facial tanner EVER! I love it! So happy I bought this because it's going to be such a staple for me.
Clarins describes Liquid Bronze: "As refreshing as water and gentle as a milk, this scientifically advanced formula sweeps onto skin like a whisper with either a cotton pad or fingertips for an amazingly, natural-looking tan every time. Color shows smoothly and quickly and never turns streaky, so skin looks remarkably radiant for days."
...How do I love thee?...Let me count the ways...
1) Most gorgeous, streak-free, glowy bronze color, EVER! It's a totally natural glow on my PPP skin with just one application, it looks like I've been in the sun all day. It's buildable so you can get darker. So subtle and natural, yet bronzey and glowy.
2) The smell is amazing! It's a light floral that reminds me of a faint perfume rather than a disgusting self-tanner. I have never smelled a self-tanner that smells so good - not chemically at all. If this is the future of self-tanners, I'm happy.
3) You can apply it with a cotton pad! Just squeeze it onto the pad and run it over your skin. Perfect color! I did this last night and I barely paid attention to the application – but there is no streaking or uneven color – just a gorgeous bronze glow. You can also apply it with your bare fingers, too.
4) It really does last for days unlike most self-tanners that fade within a day or two, this seems to last at least 5 days.
5) I can apply moisturizer and makeup immediately after this! No more waiting around for the tan to develop. And because the fragrance is beautiful, I can use this in the morning and not have to worry about stinking like self-tanner.
6) It's not greasy or gross! It feels so lightweight, like I’ve applied a light moisturizer. No more greasy, stinky mess.
7) It's buildable, so you can get darker the more you use it.
8) Beautiful bottle – and a bargain at $28 for 4.2oz.
9) Gentle and natural ingredients. [Water (Aqua), Cyclomethicone, Dihydroxyacetone, Cetearyl Isononanoate, PPG-15, Stearyl Ether, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, C14-22 Alcohols, Erythrulose, PPG-5 Ceteth-20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Squalene, Fragrance (Parfum), Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 60, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Sorbitan Isostearate, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, BHT, Sodium Benzoate.]
Like I said, I love it! And I will probably think of more and more reasons why I love it, as I keep using it! Best. Stuff. Ever!!!

Palettes -Sue Devitt - Starbrights Lip and Cheek - Electra
blissgirl 5/3/2005 10:33:00 AM
The newly repackaged Electra palette is soooo much nicer than the old black square package. It comes in a round, silver compact with a full sized mirror. It's easy to open (unlike the old version). Plus, you get more product!! With the new package it’s .12oz of lipgloss and .12oz of blush/bronzer (whereas the old package was .07oz of blush/bronzer and .08oz of lipgloss - for the same price: $35).
On my PPP skin this is the perfect bronzer. It gives a sunkissed glow and has such subtle shimmer that makes it look glowy and natural, rather than fake and shimmery. The lipglosses are both beautiful and wearable and look great when combined with the bronzer. One gloss is a shimmery bronze and the other is a medium nude. I like to apply the bronze and then the nude over it, for extra shine. They are wearable and long lasting, tacky not sticky.
This will be a definite summer staple for me!

Blush -Flirt - Big Deal Lip & Cheek Tint in Tini Bikini
blissgirl 5/3/2005 10:20:00 AM
When this was brand new in the tube and I looked at it - it reminded me of sunshine. A pinky peach color with tiny gold shimmers - beautiful. After using this one time, that initial coloring is rubbed off and you're left with a very sheer, yet pretty, pink with fine gold shimmer. On my PPP cheeks it's barely there, yet when I use this with bronzer it gives a subtle glowy look that adds to the sunkissed appearance. I haven't tried it on my lips yet. I wish it was a little more dramatic, but for a natural glowy look - this is nice. This probably will not work on darker skintones as anything but a highlighter. UPDATE: I need to return this because the color just doesn't show up. Beautiful in the tube though.

Lipstick -MAC - Rosalee
blissgirl 4/25/2005 1:34:00 PM
When I first read about this color description (and the fact that it's a Lustre) - I wanted it immediately – then my interest died down, until I saw it in person! *Rosalee* is described as a 'first blush of coral'. In the tube it's a fresh, creamy, pinky-coral. Like most Lustre’s, it goes on sheer but can be applied heavier for a brighter color. Swiped on my hand it's the perfect spring/summer coral. (It's very similar to Chanel's Pink Candy lipgloss on my lips.) The texture is wonderfully smooth and glossy. I would look gorgeous with bronzer! Unfortunately, this color doesn't work for me. I think it's a bit too warm for my complexion. [Rosalee is LE from the Nordstrom 2005 'Beau' collection.]

Lotions/ Creams -Zia - Ultimate Hand Moisture SPF 15
blissgirl 4/20/2005 4:55:00 PM
I love this handcream because it has SPF 15, but unlike most hand lotions with SPF, this does not feel chalky and dry. It's very moisturizing, silky, and smells like citrus. It says that it "softens and protects with avocado and vitamins". Contains shea butter and avocado to restore moisture, and vitamins A, C & E to protect and repair. Comes in a convenient 1.7oz tube. I love using this on my drive home from work - when the summer sun is beating down on my skin. There is no reason for wrinkly hands :P

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Cristalle Gloss - Pink Candy
blissgirl 4/14/2005 2:21:00 PM
*Pink Candy* is a glorious coral lipgloss (with a teeny hint of pink). I'm very fair with blonde hair/green eyes & this looks BEAUTIFUL - perfect for spring/summer. I've been searching for the 'perfect' coral gloss & this is it! On my pale lips this is sheer-ish but the color is obvious & it looks glowy & colorful - without being too bright. [This is a great gloss if Sirop was too opaque/bright.] The texture is fabulous - smooth, light, not sticky - glossy but not over-the-top. Just healthy shine & color. The tubes are pretty & they don't leak like the Glossimer tubes. And I love the fact that this is fragrance-free. I have to go back & get the pink one...

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Le Couvent des Minimes Repairing HAND CREAM - Honey and Shea
blissgirl 4/12/2005 2:20:00 PM
The smell is fabulous. I bought it for that very reason. The cream is thick and spreads fairly easily. The moisturizing properties don't last very long, though. I love to use this right before bed - the smell makes me calm and happy - smells just like pure honey. I'll be trying the shower gel and lotion because the scent is perfect for spring. But I will be sticking to my HG hand lotion (Eucerin Hand Creme) when my hands really need moisture.

Bronzers -Bonne Bell - SunBlended Bronze Bronzing Powder in Radiant Bronze
blissgirl 4/7/2005 5:51:00 PM
Hehe! I'm such a high-end makeup snob but I just got the biggest kick buying the Bonne Bell *SunBlended Bronze* palette in "Radiant Bronze". It's so pretty! There are 4 shades of bronzer: a shimmery gold - a rosy bronze - a shimmery taupe - and a very shimmery looking nude/champagne - in a sturdy silver compact with a full mirror! Just take a brush and sweep all the colors for a sunkissed glow. (These look like they would make for wonderful eyeshadow shades, too). I am a huge fan of the Bonne Bell Gel Bronze - which is one of my only drugstore staples and has been for 6 years or more - so I had to grab this. This is limited edition for spring 2005, so look for a display with all of their bronzing products. It was $3.59 - lol :P

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil
blissgirl 4/5/2005 12:26:00 PM
This is the second FF product I have tried and the second I have returned. This did nothing for my hair. (It did weigh it down and make it look greasy - with just a tiny amount). I didn't like the smell either. So many other products work much better, including Fresh Hair Cream, BioSilk and Phyto 9. I won't miss this at all.

Conditioner -LUSH - American Cream
blissgirl 4/5/2005 11:53:00 AM
Ok, the search is over. I am a product junkie. My bathroom looks like a department store. I've been searching for a conditioner that actually 'works' on my highlighted hair AND smells good. This is it!! I'm so glad I stopped on Broadway to grab a bottle of this, it's seriously the most fantastic smelling conditioner ever! The scent lingers for days! Plus, it really works. Usually you have to sacrifice and get a crappy product with a good smell - or a crappy smelling product that works well. This is a great conditioner that smells awesome. I used it with my HG shampoo (Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Milk) just so I could see what the results of this conditioner were - and I love it! Shiny, silky, fragrant hair. I have never found a conditioner that has such a strong fragrance on my hair. I blow-out my hair and usually the fragrance has disappeared by the time I am done. This lasts for days, it's beautiful. I am definitely an *American Cream* convert! I'm stocking up.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Puppy Eyeshadow
blissgirl 3/29/2005 12:20:00 PM
I have to admit that I couldn't pass this up - mainly because of the name. But it is a great neutral for the office or to wear with brighter colors. It can look a little muddy on my PPP skin if I apply too much - so I apply this sheerly - and I try to keep it either close to my eye or just on the browbone (depending on the look I am going for). It isn't as silky or as easy to apply as Stila's shimmery shadows, but it's a nice matte light/medium-brown. A cute color for a puppy :P

Palettes -Stila - 6-pan compact
blissgirl 3/29/2005 12:17:00 PM
I love this palette! The palette itself is very cute: the mirror is great to have, especially when traveling, and the brush is actually useable! It's a convenient size for travel. And it's so easy to remove the pans (with the hole underneath). I also love the fact that this holds both eyeshadow and blush - you can make the perfect palette to take on a trip! It's worth the cost.

Palettes -Stila - Vintage Hankie 4 Pan Palette - Sage
blissgirl 3/29/2005 12:09:00 PM
I scored this at the CCO last weekend. I love Stila eyeshadow and figured that the lovely colors were perfect for spring. (I must say that I prefer my Bamboo Blossom palette from this spring over the Sage Hankie, though). The bone e/s is perfect - creamy, just slightly shimmery - applies wonderfully. The sage e/s is something that I didn't have before - it looks pretty and fresh on my PPP skin. The liner is fun, a shimmery green/blue that I like to use it in the crease, too. The blush is gorgeous. Paper palette - pretty, but cardboard (seems sturdy enough though). This is only .08oz of product! So tiny, almost crazy...but I bought it for less than it originally retailed and although this is a tiny amount, it will last a long time.
