Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - MopTop - Detangler & Refresher Spray

If you have coarse, dry, naturally curly hair and want to stay away from silicones, please give MopTop products a try. This spray is excellent to use right after you condition and before you add gel and is also very nice for plumping up your curls again on days you don't want to shampoo. The products are a bit pricey and you have to order from the website. My only quibble: the scents are a bit overwhelming at first but soon fade.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam VI

Very nice YLBB, darker and a bit more intense than Viva Glam V. I like it but it doesn't last and tends to "bleed" outside the lips. The formula is a bit too soft IMO but not drying. I would probably re-purchase. In general, I like MAC's lipsticks very much. My only criticism is they don't seem to have much staying power.

Very nice YLBB. Like throwing on a slightly more sophisticated version of Chap Stick. I like it very much and regard it as a staple. Also nice to mix with other colors. Very pretty.

Blush -MAC - Melba

I haven't been overly impressed with MAC blushes but this one is ok. Matte which I like but doesn't last long on me. A nice color for those with "warm" skin tones.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone in Pinch O'Peach

This blush is perfectly fine but I wouldn't buy it again. It gives a nice, light coverage, absolutely no sparkles, but nothing special. Unfortunately, it doesn't last at all. In fact, it seems to disappear within an hour. The packaging is typical MAC, see-thru plastic, no mirror, no applicator, which is fine for keeping the cost down but I think next time, I'll treat myself to NARS or Chanel. Not thrilled.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - MopTop - Anti-Frizz Gel

So far, I really like all the styling products from MOPTOP. I'm trying to wean myself off silicones and these products fit the bill. So far, I've tried the gel, pomade and detangler sprary and I like them all. My only quibble is the scent. I really like styling products to be fragrance-free so they won't interfere with my perfume, but, all in all, my naturally curly locks have never been happier.

Lipstick -NARS - Semi-Matte in Heat Wave
rated 5 of 5
bethd44 3/10/2009 4:31:00 PM

Gorgeous color. Love this one. I do add a bit of gloss because the texture is so matte but it's just a lovely color and very heavily pigmented. Best applied with a brush or finger smudged, IMO, and with very little other make-up. NARS lipsticks are so fine.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Tendertone Lip Balm SPF 12 - Sweet Tooth
rated 4 of 5

Very nice texture and flavor. Smells divine. But...hate, hate, hate the jar. You have to use a brush. Dipping your finger in there is just too icky. Plus, it's practically a clear gloss and too pricey for that. Wouldn't repurchase.

Lipstick -NARS - Shanghai Express

Oh, yeah. Highly pigmented, intense, gorgeous dark red matte. I use this as a stain, under a gloss, adding a bit more color to build up or down. Really makes the blue eyes pop. Wear this color and you won't need much else on your face - a touch of mascara, maybe a neutral shadow and slight touch of blush and you're good to go. It IS a matte so don't expect any shine unless you add it with gloss.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Hellfire

Sticky and difficult to spread on the lips but, wowee. What a hot color. As deliciously evil as the name. If you have blonde or reddish hair and blue/green eyes, highly recommended. Have to go 5 lippies just for depth and intensity of the color.

Lipstick -NARS - Beautiful Liar (Fall 2008)

A gorgeous warm coral/apricot. Slightly sheer and very moist. I love it. I think this is a color that best suits fair to medium, pale but "warmer" skin tones, blondes or redheads, and blue or green eyes. Really makes my blue eyes pop. I do use a lip liner (MAC's Gingerroot). Highly recommended.

Polishes -Color Club - Sexsea
rated 4 of 5

Have to agree with Denise18 on all points. A great color, slightly more red than OPI My Chihuahua Bites. MCB is a bit pinker to my eye and applies more smoothly. I also take one lippie off for slightly streaky application. Otherwise, a great color and super wear for the price. I did use SV topcoat which I finds extends the wear of all polishes no matter which brand.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen- Modesty
rated 4 of 5
bethd44 2/20/2009 4:07:00 PM

I have two tubes of this, one stashed in my cosmetics kit and one that floats around in various handbags and pockets. It's my "go to" shade. It seems to suit my skin tone perfectly (fair to medium, slightly warmer, blue eyes, blonde/light brown hair). That said, I don't think I'll repurchase because the color fades so rapidly on me and seems to be a bit drying. Also, now that Spring is Just Around the Corner (hoping), I'm craving something a bit brighter. Otherwise, the color has served me well over the long, wet Winter.

Powder -Lancome - Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup
rated 5 of 5
bethd44 2/15/2009 5:45:00 PM

Working on my second compact of this. I get a very nice light coverage by using it wet over Neutragena sunblock/moisturizer. It just evens out my skin, covering all the little spots and freckles. Usually, that's enough coverage for me. If I want a little more, I wait for it to dry and then lightly dust on a bit more with a soft face powder/blush brush. I love that it's portable with a nice big mirror. Easy to take to the gym. It's a bit pricey but one compact lasts me a year.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Essentially Enriched Daily Lotion for Very Dry, Rough Skin
rated 4 of 5
bethd44 2/15/2009 12:03:00 PM

My husband and I both like this lotion. We do use it at night because it does tend to be a bit sticky and we live in California so we're not subjected to extreme cold or dry weather. It's difficult to get all the product out of the bottle - the usual problem with plunger-type packaging. We buy this at Costco, two huge bottles packaged together with the really excellent Nivea lip balm.
