Styling Products -Ojon - Animated Styling Cream
beemoody 11/18/2007 5:26:00 PM
I purchased one of the Ojon starter kits a long time ago and I loved most of the products in it. I actually LOVE the signature Ojon scent, which seems to be a deciding factor for some with this product. The restorative treatment is a staple in my hair-care line and will remain so forever (I have it in right now actually!). Wanted to try some of the other Ojon products and they had this in a small tube at Sephora for about $10 I think. I've had enough time to try this several ways in my semi-thick highlighted hair that is a few inches past my shoulders. I use a dime-sized amount of product. The texture in and of itself is not waxy or sticky - more like a cream than anything else. First off, this did not work on my hair wet. It made my already semi-thick hair SOOOO hard to brush - it gave my hair so much body that I literally couldn't do anything with it....maybe this would work for some of you fine-haired girls? Personally, I won't be doing that again. Also used this the day after washing (hoping to create body and volume) by emulsifying in my hands and working in REALLY good at the roots. It gave my hair an edgy volumized look which was very rocker-chic IMO. Loved it for a few hours out at night, but totally didn't last all day. I think my hair might be too thick and/or long for this to work at volumizing it for a whole day. When I cut my hair in a few weeks I will update my review to say if this works better/differently on short hair. Said I would re-purchase but I'm sure I won't have to for a LONG time - I have an arsenal of hair products to choose from and rarely reach the end of one before moving onto the next. Worth a try - get the smaller cheaper one if you aren't sure!!!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
beemoody 11/18/2007 4:48:00 PM
I'm LOVIN' this mascara!!! At the recommendation of my new MUA friend (and fellow mascara junkie!) I gave this a try and am so so glad that I did - Thanks, Claire! I bought the w/p version (even though the non-w/p seems to get better reviews) b/c I needed something that would hold up to my watery allergy-prone eyes. I do intend to purchase the non-w/p next and will review. Just for reference -- my lashes are rather full and long, but I love the look mascara adds and don't feel MU is complete without it! First off, I LOVE the brush - it is thick and full all around, also it does not pull out too much of the product. It isn't too thick and isn't goopey or clumpy at all. I find it non-drying, soft but defining, and this mascara does not run or cause racoon eyes for me like it does for some. It does give my lashes GREAT volume and seperation - I am not trying to achieve curl, so I can't speak to that. It is definitely MLBB (My lashes but better)!!!! I do recommend for sure and will repurchase (probably at the same time I buy the non-w/p kind!).

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - Foot Works Double Action Intensive Callus Cream
beemoody 11/16/2007 11:14:00 PM
Really like this Avon Foot Works product - a thick non-greasy cream that i put on immediately after showering. Usually I put on some thick socks after applying (although it works great to sleep in them, it isn't always necessary). This has a slightly minty tingly feel for me and really feels like it is "working". Used in combo with a foot file, this had kept my heels pedicure-fresh between actual pedicures. So in closing, it is cheap and it works! What more is there to say!

Fragrances -Yankee Candles - Macintosh and Harvest SWIRL
beemoody 11/16/2007 10:55:00 PM
I totally agree with the prior reviewer - love this Fall/Autumn scent!!! I like the mix b/c you have the sweet apple scent and spicy harvest scent. It's a great blend and it distributes nicely through the room - highly recommend.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Sunwashed Linen
beemoody 11/16/2007 10:49:00 PM
I just reviewed Macintosh, which I buy every Fall.....Sunwashed Linen is what I buy every SPRING! LOVE IT! It lightly fills the room with a light clean airy fresh kinda smell, a little stronger than Clean Cotton which reminds me of 'just' freshwashed clothes hanging on the line (not that there is anything wrong with that) - I just think Sunwashed Linen literally reminds me of clothes hanging outside on the line in the middle of summer with the bright sunlight adding a fresh bright scent to it.....yeah, I know this sounds so corny....but I can't think of another way to describe it. REALLY love this scent!!!

Candles -Yankee Candles - MacIntosh Housewarmer
beemoody 11/16/2007 10:41:00 PM
I buy this candle every Fall/Autumn (and even give it as gifts). It is the perfect scent for this time of year - like walking through an orchard. Although there are several types of apple scents at Yankee, Macintosh IMO is the BEST, freshest, most crisp!!! Highly recommend, as do others, b/c every single reviewer recommends this product!!!!!

Highlighters -Clinique - Up-Lighting Liquid Illumintor
beemoody 11/10/2007 8:44:00 PM
This is the first product I bought from Clinique that I returned - EVER - in like ten years. It was just too glittery and shiney on me. I only tried it on my hand in the store and not on my face which was my first mistake. I don't dislike the packaging, but i can't imagine how one would possiblity use all that stuff!!!! It only took half of one pump to coat my face with shine. I cannot imagine a woman with naturally shiney skin liking this product. My recommendation if you are interested in this product would be to try the Revlon Skinlights (I thnk that is the official name). I think it is a similiar, better product for a MUCH lower price!

Powder -Clinique - Perfectly Real Compact Powder Foundation
beemoody 11/8/2007 11:53:00 PM
I've received two samples of this product in Shade 106 (VF-N). I actually like the sample packaging - a small rectangular compact with a sponge - good for touch-ups during the day or fitting into a small purse for nighttime. Not sure what the full-size product even looks like or how much it costs. I did take this out at night a few times for touch ups over my BE foundation. As the night went on, I dabbed it on with the sponge and it looked OK. However, when I tried to wear this during the day, it looked horrible, cakey, heavy and fake on my face. Tried applying with a brush as well for lighter coverage, but still left a powdery film over my face - which surprisingly enough BE never does and it is a powder! I don't think this is a bad product, it just isn't for me. I actually love BE and think I just have to admit I found my HG :) and I need to stop trying other foundation "stuff" I get!!!! haha!

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky-Finish Lipstick
beemoody 11/8/2007 11:40:00 PM
So last week I was in a Sephora with my sister, we ALMOST made it out without spending a fortune....UNTIL....I pointed out the gorgeous lip color on one of the SA's. My sister couldn't help herself - had to ask the girl (who had similiar coloring to us) what she was wearing. Turned out to be the Lancome Natural Mauve Lip Liner (see review) with Benefit silky finish l/s in Rocket Pop over top. OK, I bought both of them! I actually think the box and packaging is adorable - so fun! The box has a little Gabbi pull-out quote - see the Benefit collection if you aren't sure what I am talking about. I also like the black and white tube! Overall, I am not a huge Benefit collector, but I had to have this l/s after I not only saw how gorgeous it looked, but also felt the consistency. It's creamy, but glossy....and dare I say hydrating. B/c it is so moisturizing, it doesn't last that long but I don't mind re-applying b/c it feels SO great on! I've worn this l/s just about everyday since I bought it. I'm surprised at how versatile it is - beautiful if worn alone, with the liner referenced above or with others. Love it with everything I've paired it with. Honestly, this l/s is beautiful and I MUST HAVE MORE OF THESE too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Checked out Skinny Dip too based on the rave reviews here and that's definitely my next silky finish purchase :)

Lip Liners -Lancome - Le Lipstique
beemoody 11/8/2007 11:08:00 PM
Last week I was in a Sephora with my sister, we ALMOST made it out without spending a fortune....UNTIL....I pointed out the gorgeous lip color on one of the SA's. My sister couldn't help herself - had to ask the girl (who had similiar coloring to us) what she was wearing. Turned out to be the Natural Mauve Lip Liner with Benefit silky finish l/s in Rocket Pop over top. OK, I bought both of them! I actually think the box describes the product perfectly: "Two sensational tools in one: a creamy, waterproof pencil for lining, defining and all over colour; a plush brush for professional blending of lip stick or gloss." I thought I wouldn't like the brush but it was actually useful. I've worn seriously everyday since I bought it and even let my sis borrow it one day! I agree that the liner is creamy and extremely smooth to apply. It claims w/p and I agree that it had good lasting power, but I mean, it doesn't last the entire night or day w/o re-application. As for the actual color Natural Mauve - it does resemble MAC Spice on me, but the consistency and wearability is so far superior that I am going to give the MAC one away. Never want to wear it again compared to this. Honestly, that is how beautiful this liner is in texture, ease of application and longevity. OK, on to expense - it was $27!!! I think that is really extravagant for a l/l but now that I have it, it is totally worth it. I've tried it with several other l/s that I have, including just with gloss and with MAC Viva Glam V - LOVE IT every time. I MUST HAVE MORE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Ageless Results Renewing Eye Cream
beemoody 11/8/2007 10:31:00 PM
I agree with just about everything the two previous reviewers said about this product. I received it for FREE when I purchased the Ageless Results SPF day cream, which I also liked very much and have just reviewed. I've tried many eye creams over the years - I don't have many lines, just some fine smile lines, and no creases at all. I'm trying to prevent or at least hold them off for as long as possible :) so I put eye cream on all the time. This product is a great consistency - smooth and creamy, but light enough to sink in rather quickly. I've worn it during the day under make up and had no problems with it sinking in. I've also worn at bedtime and put on a bit more - felt and looked great the next morning. The only negative I see is that this didn't have SPF - I am going to check to see if they have one with SPF and I will definitely purchase. There are some eye creams that are ridiculously expensive - this one works great - comparable for me to the most expensive I have tried - and costs LESS THAN HALF what most of the others cost. Definitely give this a try.

Moisturizers -Avon - Ageless Results Renewing Day Cream Spf 15
beemoody 11/8/2007 10:08:00 PM
My sister sells Avon and I was checking out the sales on the daytime SPF moisturizers since my most recent purchase of moisturizer with SPF stings the crap out of my eyes (Cetaphil). This one was cheap and came with a free Renewing Eye Cream, so what did I have to lose? Well, I am happy to report that this moisturizer is much better than anticipated! It hydrates my combo dry skin well and sinks in real quick. I feel well-moisturized all day and my make up goes on perfectly over top. Also, LOVE the short 'fat' pump dispenser (which would fit on ANY medicine cabinet shelf easily) - I gave it a 4 though b/c I am not sure how it will dispense when it is close to the end. The box says that it is "Dermotologist tested, suitable for sensitive skin, non-comedogenic (won't clog pores), and UVA/UVB SPF 15 broad spectrum protection". It also says it has "soy extract and vitamins to help skin look and feel younger". Not so sure about that last claim, but I do like this - for the price, the convenience and especially b/c it doesn't sting my eyes. I also think the scent a little strong - don't know how to describe it - but it does go away after a little while. I will definitely re-purchase this.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer
beemoody 11/8/2007 9:44:00 PM
I needed a nighttime winter moisturizer for my combo dry skin. I've used so many and am still searching for the next best thing, which (1) sinks in just perfectly, (2) is either fragrance free or pleasantly scented, and (3) isn't astonomically expensive. I had to return some ridiculous purchase to the Clinique counter and told the MUA what I was looking for. She whipped out this moisturizer in a squeezeable tube called "Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer" in Dry Combination. The box claims that this product defuses "...free-radical activity. Delivers a unique complex of 8 rapid and delayed-action antioxidants that rebounds, to help defeat a second wave of free radicals released hours later. Helps skin maintain its strength, stay smooth and free of the visible effects of environmental damage..." RESULTS: (1) The consistency is creamy but light and smooth and almost gel-like - it sinks in pretty quickly on me and I don't need too much for my face and neck. I noticed within a week that my skin (on my face as well as neck) was softer and actually more supple, not only after applicatoin but the next morning and into the day as well. (2) I don't notice any odor or fragrance really at all. (3) This was $39.00 (I think - not sure b/c I did an exchange) for a 1.7 fl oz tube. Thank GOD for the tube and not a tub/jar - this is much more sanitary and easy to store and USE! I hate the JARS for make up or moisturizers! So overall, this moisturizer, although not the heavier cream I thought I needed, is totally working for me!!! I am so happy I purchased it and will continue to use. I'm sure they would give you a sample if you requested it.

Eye Shadow -Ulta - Plum Smoke
beemoody 11/3/2007 10:58:00 PM
I've been reviewing several ULTA shadows tonight - I liked Galaxy (which I heard about from MUA!!!) so much that I went back to ULTA and bought a couple more. With the BOGOF ($6.50 for one), it is SOOOOOO easy to rationalize buying ALL OF THEM.....insert crazy laugh here! I've got brown eyes, hair and fair skin so I know that purples work for me. Obviously, I was drawn to something called "Plum Smoke"! This is a plummy taupe with a brownish base and some gold, with a high sheen...NOT sparkle. It isn't anywhere near as "purple" as Twilight or Eggplant which I also have. Another versatile ULTA e/s b/c it has the plum aspect as well as the taupe, so I just think it looks great with many color variations. The product comes in a circular disckus shape pan with a clear flip up lid. Although the packaging isn't terrible, it would be great to have them be available in quads or palattes. (I heard they used to have palettes, but not at my ULTA right now.) I hate having to take all of the pans with me while I am traveling (b/c obviously I can't pick the colors I want to wear in advance!). Overall, the quality and consistency of these ULTA shadows is fantastic - I now find it hard to rationalize spending like $17 on an Urban Decay shadow - I always check before buying to see if ULTA has a simliar one!!!

Eye Shadow -Ulta - Eye Shadow - Sterling
beemoody 11/3/2007 10:27:00 PM
I've been reviewing a bunch of ULTA shadows I've been using. I started my ULTA e/s collection with Galaxy (black) and Sterling and I knew I had to have more!!!!! With the BOGOF ($6.50 each), it is SOOOOOO easy to rationalize..... This is a silvery nickel type color with a high sheen...NOT sparkle. Another ULTA e/s that really does live up to its name. I've paired this with multiple colors - It is actually much more versatile than I thought originally. As previously reviewed, the product comes in a circular disckus shape pan with a clear flip up lid. Although the packaging isn't terrible, it would be great to have them be available in quads or palattes. I hate having to take all of the pans with me while I am traveling (b/c obviously I can't pick the colors I want to wear in advance!). Overall, the quality and consistency of these ULTA shadows is fantastic - I now find it hard to rationalize spending like $17 on an Urban Decay shadow - I always check before buying to see if ULTA has a simliar one!!! I do not think anyone will be disappointed with these shadows overall.
