Polishes -Barielle - Cotton candy

I Loved Cotton candy. I've been looking for a non-pastel but light very girly pink for ages. This one is what I wanted. It has a gorgeous pearly finish but it's not a frost (pink frost is way too 80s for me). The name is evocative of the playfulness of the pink, though I think it's warmer than the color of cotton candy. An attention-getting, whimsical, medium pink. Application is smooth and opaque in 2 coats. Used Seche Vite over it without shrinkage. Loved it!

Polishes -OPI - Not Like The Movies
rated 5 of 5

NLTM reminded me of an old Revlon duochrome that I had ages ago and lost or gave away (Khaki Zing, which is more of a dupe for Zoya Ki actually). I'd been looking for a color like that. I wore OPI NLTM at a salon and a few months later decided to purchase it. It's a grey silver with green and purple duochrome. It applies like a dream and did not chip for a week. I like it so much that I decided to swap/sell my Zoya Ki, which is just a bit darker than this. I am not an OPI fanatic but I really am into this color. I got compliments the three times that I wore it so far. You may need 3 coats to get it opaque and gorgeous. ETA: I don't know what I am thinking forgetting about the glitter. NLTM is unique among the green/purple duos in having fine, sparse glitter. It's an unusual combination and makes the polish all the more elegant.

Polishes -Barielle - Date Night
rated 5 of 5

I adore Date Night. It's one of the few polishes my husband also loves. It's a dark, saturated forest green with shimmer (not sparkle) that does not look black indoors. It's unusual, sexy and classy all at the same time. Application is smooth and opaque in 1 coat, though you want to do 2 for a smooth look. Used Seche Vite over it without shrinkage.

Top/Base Coats -Qtica - Qtica Top Coat and 1/2 Time Polish Drying Accelerator

I tried this on a whim and I was delighted to find out it really works! You still need to be careful, especially if you applied several coats but it does definitely help. I star off for price because I am going through it pretty fast. I'll look for cheaper alternatives.

Polishes -Zoya - Erika
rated 3 of 5

Erika is what I wished for and more when I bought a light pink online. From afar, it looks like a neutral pink, perfect for any occasion. Up close it has gold shimmer but not in specks, just a lovely allover gold. Just perfect. I think it may look better on warmer skin tones so I swapped it. Lippies off for less than average application (for Zoya). I needed 3 coats to get rid of brush strokes.

I absolutely love this topcoat. I bought it unboxed for $1 at Marshalls - lucky huh? I am running out. I have the Zoya top coat now and it's pretty similar in quality.

I definitely like this top coat. Favorite along with poshe. I am rough with my nails and this makes my polish last a week or so.

Polishes -Zoya - Gossip - Lo

I like this color. It is brighter than it looks in photos. It's quite cute with tanned skin. I'd give it 4 stars but the consistency was not good. It got all uneven and I am pretty experienced with polish. I had to put 3 coats plus top coat to make it even. I bought a bunch of Zoyas and this was the first one I tried. I was worried all would be like this but this was the worst by far. Perhaps a bad bottle.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Brick - Nectar
rated 5 of 5

I love these shimmer bricks. I have Nectar and the Tawny set. They both give a lovely glow applied like a bronzer. They're shimmery but OK for daytime use. I get compliments on my skin when I wear them. Nectar looks bright! But I wear the Bobbi Brown coral blush and goes well with it. They're not cheap but you can find them cheap if you search around. I got an unboxed one for less than $20. You only need a tiny bit so I can't imagine running out anytime soon.

I love this! Got it on ebay for $19 on a whim. I have not used the lip colors at all (need a brush and am too lazy). But the shimmer brick is lovely. I never thught it'd look good on me given my coloring but it does. Gives lovely glow when quickly applied like a bronzer. They're shimmery but OK for daytime use. Love it!

I love these shimmer bricks. I have Nectar, which has coral tones and tawny, which is more of a neutral, similar to the photo here. They both give a lovely glow applied like a bronzer. They're shimmery but definitely OK for daytime use. You can find them cheap sometimes and you only need a tiny but, I can't imagine running out.

I remember seeing this at the airport duty free and thinking wow, clown makeup. It was the brightest thing on display and I have fair skin. I tried it on for fun and have been using it as my hg blush ever since.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
rated 5 of 5
alissss 8/4/2010 2:22:00 PM

I am Mediterranean so I've know about EVOO since I was a child. I got into buying and trying brand name products in my teens and early twenties. I've redsicovered it a few years ago and love it. My husband has also tried it and now he will only shave with EVOO! I have now been using EVOO for several years as follows: - Facial moisturizer. I always get compliments on my skin. My secret is EVOO. I put it on in the shower, leave on as I shampoo my hair, then massage a little like a scrub and lave it on. By the time I get out, it's not too oily to the touch and not messy. No smell. When my skin feels very dry, I'll apply it to dry skin as well. - Body moisturizer: Similarly I apply to dry areas of my body. If feeling dry, apply to whole body. - Make up remover: As mentioned here, it's very effective and gentle at the same time. - Shaving: This has been a revelation. I am very sensitive and even with the most fancy sensitive skin products, my legs get irritated, red and painful after shaving. With EVOO, I can get a really close shave and no irritation. I am in love! It changed the whole experience for me. The only better trick I know about body hair is laser hair treatment.(Got underarms taken care of, but still shaving legs with EVOO). I have also used it on and off on my hair. Some tips and tricks: - It's a hassle to carry to the gym and when I travel. Put it in a travel size container with a tight lid and keep in ziploc bag. - When you shave with it, you will get a close shave and soothed legs instead of irritation, but you have to make sure you clean your razor every time. It's not hard but you have to do it. Unlike lighter gels etc, the product doesn't run off of the razor by itself. Just hold under running water until all the goop is cleared. - Be real careful not to get it in your eyes, esp if you wear contacts. Somehow I am bad at this and occasionally it gets in my eyes and then I have blurry vision until I take off my contacts and clean them by rubbing off the oil. In all these uses, I have found EVOO to be perfect, more effective than expensive products I've bought for the same uses, plus a natural product. It seems it works wonders for most people, disappoints others. I say it's worth trying at least! Changed my whole routine and I couldn't be happier.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear in Strobe Light
rated 4 of 5
alissss 6/3/2010 11:52:00 PM

I love this because it adds some fun bling to my nail polish (obviously) but more importantly, dries quick and most importantly, makes my polish last forever! I've been using it a lot recently. It makes my nails super hard and polish does not chip for a week even when I don't try to protect it at all. I love it since I don't have time to do my nails all the time. One star off since it's flammable (like most nail polish) and it is a real pain to take off.
