Treatments -La Prairie - Extrait of Skin Caviar
ae0003 1/5/2005 11:07:00 PM
Oily skin is problematic for a number of reasons; one Catch-22 is in the winter when you'd like to use moisturizer, but pretty much everything is too heavy. This is one solution: about half a pump of Extrait of Skin Caviar over the Normalizing Serum. Talk about a great treatment. Man, I love this stuff! :>)

Gels/Soaps -Jack Black - All Over Body Wash
ae0003 12/19/2004 10:45:00 PM
Nordstrom SA talked me into this when I repurchased Jack's Girl Shave Silk. Been looking for a more charge card-friendly alternative to the Darphin shower gel ($70 for 13 oz...ouch!!) so I gave this a try. So glad I did. LOVE the fragrance! Can't identify it except that it's quite refreshing. Label says you can even wash your hair with this, though I haven't tried that. Hard to believe this is a man's product...my sensitive skin certainly likes it. My next JB purchase will be the lip balm. :>)

Still working on a sample, which should last until I can rob a liquor store so I can afford to buy my very own. The best. End of story. :>)

Moisturizers -La Prairie - Skin Caviar Luxe Cream for face
ae0003 12/1/2004 10:33:00 PM
I, too, worried about this Luxe Cream. Oily (but much less so, thanks to the Purifying Systeme products!!!), sensitive and now that it's actually freezing in Dallas...on Dec 1, no less... I'm dehydrated. Received a sample from Nordstrom, and I thought I'd give it a try on top of my Normalizing Serum. It's only WONDERFUL, that's all. :>)

Skincare - Face -La Prairie - Cellular Purifying Systeme Hydro Repair
ae0003 11/27/2004 5:47:00 PM
I HAVE SEEN THE MOUNTAINTOP. This is the best!!! My skin has absolutely no problem with the Purifying Systeme series. Just so I don't get into trouble, thought, I'll alternate the Hydro Repair with the Normalizing Serum at night. On a teacher's salary, LP is a HUGE investment, but then again, I cannot even begin to imagine how long the Hydro Repair (or really, any of it) will last. Teeny-weenie bit is all you need. So glad I finally bought this...who needs electricity anyway??? :>) EDIT: Been using the Hydro Repair (and the whole Purifying Systeme) for about six weeks now. If you can only go with a few products (I feel your pain), purchase the cleansing gel, this, and the super-amazing normalizing serum. If you're vigilant, you can find more reasonable prices online, but if you go the retail route, it's Sample City. In any event, using LP has been a quality-of-life experience for me. Unless your skin has gushed oil for 30+ years, you can't know how wonderful it is NOT TO WORRY about your face, confident that it looks matte but hydrated. Bye-bye blotting papers!!!!!!!! :>)

Treatments -La Prairie - Cellular Purifying Systeme Normalizing Serum
ae0003 11/25/2004 11:23:00 PM
I'm a devoted MUAer and am guided by all your opinions, but this is one time (so far) that I have to go 180 on you, girls. I'm super oily and absolutely adore this LP serum. Went to Nordstrom to purchase the Retuxturizing Booster (based on MUA reviews), and the SA talked me into this one as well. Got home, and since it turned really cool and windy night-before last, I gave no thought to using my foam cleanser, the new toner (pink) and the Retex. Booster. Went nuts for about an hour because that combo had left my face so greasy, I couldn't stand it. I actually got out of bed, rewashed my face with the gelee cleanser, used the dual action toner, then, with trepidation, applied the Normalizing Serum. Wonderful!!! My skin could breathe. Same routine this morning, then tonight. Love the Purifying Systeme products. Think I may even be brave enough to try the Hydro night cream! :>)

Cleansers -La Prairie - Cleansing Gelee
ae0003 11/25/2004 1:35:00 AM
I'm super oily and unless it's bitter cold and windy (which doesn't happen very often here in Dallas!) the foam cleanser is too rich for me. I love the gelee!!! My skin feels clean, not stripped, which is unusual because I'm extemely sensitive. I say this one's a winner. :>)

Lotions/ Creams -La Prairie - La Prairie - Cellular Hand Cream
ae0003 11/25/2004 1:26:00 AM
The cheapest is seldom the best value; LP Hand Cream is a perfect example. When I think of the gallons of creams/lotions I've used on my hands over the years, I'll bet that I'd have been a whole lot better off just buying LP and using the tiniest dab. Learned my lesson...that's what I'll do from now on! :>)

Lovely matifying quality, non-stripping, yet thoroughly cleanses my oily, dehydrated, sensitive skin. Will stick to this like a duck on a junebug (can you tell I'm from the south???) :>)

Toners -La Prairie - Cellular Purifying Systeme Dual-Phase Toner
ae0003 11/12/2004 8:54:00 PM
I could just kick myself for buying this thru ebay, because now I'm stuck with it. It has the "powder" at the bottom, just like that Lancome toner (can't remember the name). Leaves my skin sticky, and when you have oily skin, sticky ain't good. Really, though, after using the Purifying Gel Cleanser, you don't need it toner... it's marvelous solo. :>)

Fragrances -Chanel - No 5 Sensual Elixir
ae0003 11/12/2004 8:06:00 PM
Good news, bad news: the good news is if you like No 5, I think you'll find this highly agreeable. The bad news is that after ALL these years and NEVER rubbing a magazine ad on my wrist that didn't make me gag, I STILL haven't learned my lesson. The temptation of Sensual Elixir in the Dec Vanity Fair just proved too much for lil' ol' hope-springs-eternal me. :>)

Skincare - Face -La Prairie - Cellular Purifying Systeme Regulating Mask [DISCONTINUED]
ae0003 11/3/2004 11:27:00 PM
Absolutely the mildest, yet best-performing clarifying mask I've EVER used. If you have oily, sensitive skin, run, don't walk to the LP counter for this one. :>)
