Treatments -Beauty Without Cruelty - Vitamin C Serum
Zedar 3/21/2009 10:27:00 PM
I concurr with Onitacy and disagree with the reviewer who wrote that this product sits on the skin. (At least my combination/oily and acne prone skin absorbs in seconds BWC's Vitamin C with CoQ10 Vitality Serum, which I wear daily under moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup.) I purchased this Beauty Without Cruelty serum to protect my skin from sunscreen and other oxidizing and otherwise questionable products that I use. Despite few favorable reviews, I chose this brand over Avalon Organics because I already am impressed by BWC's shampoo and all day moisturizer, and I generally haven't found Avalon Organics products to be moisturizing enough. Serums have never worked for me. During my twenties, I experimented with everything from Olay to Creme de la Mer, with zero results. I don't know whether it is the BWC serum itself or the fact that I am now over thirty, but I have actually noticed improvement in both my acne scars and fine lines since using this product, and I haven't broken out, so I will surely repurchase. I love that the bottle is glass (I am afraid of BPA and other chemicals in plastic) and there is a pump, even if its plastic. I also love that there are no "cones" (silicones) in this product and the price is not outrageous. What do more experienced fans of antioxidant serum think of this product?
Treatments -Epicuren Discovery - Propolis Concentrate
Zedar 11/23/2008 11:22:00 PM
This is my favorite product of the Epicuren Line. I like it better than the propolis moisturizer or spray toner, and I am using it with the Brazilian propolis shampoo-as-facial cleanser. Basically, it seems to disinfect my acne and firm my skin. It tingles a little bit when I put it on at night as a sticky, stinky orange serum under my moisturizer. In the morning, it seems to have caused some of my acne to come to a head. My aesthetician warned me that many people are allergic to this, so be careful!
Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads
Zedar 11/23/2008 10:49:00 PM
These pads are a new addition to my skin care routine. In the past I have used many AHA and BHA products until I tried Epicuren's anti-acne line. However, after nearly a year using the Epicuren line, I decided that I missed glycolic acid, so I purchased Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinke Peel Pads based on the glowing reviews here at MUA. So far, the pads have impressed me with their potency and I believe are softening some of my acne scars. However, I can only use them three times a week at this point and after I do, my skin really peels for several days. Therefore, I have only used three of the pads so far. I will update after more use. I think the effectiveness of the product earns it a five, but the obvious downside of peeling causes me to knock my rating down to four.
Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Nature's Cure - Body Acne Treatment Spray

Desert Essence Cleansing Bar with tea tree oil, a Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Wash Cloth and this product have together greatly reduced my back acne. I highly recommend for the backside!
Skincare - Face -Desert Essence - Cleansing Bar Tea Tree Therapy
Zedar 11/23/2008 9:49:00 PM
I don't use this on my face, but it sure has greatly improved my back acne in combination with two other products. I use it with a Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Wash Cloth, followed by Nature's Cure Body Acne Treatment Spray. After a month of these products, the acne on my back is drastically reduced. The bar lasts forever, hasn't melted in our shower and is fresh!

This product is great. My grandmother loves it because it makes it easier for her to clean her back. Combined with Desert Essence Cleansing Bar Tea Tree Therapy and followed by Nature's Cure Body Acne Treatment Spray, my back acne is way better.
Scrubs -Avon - Clearskin Cleansing Scrub Exfoliant [DISCONTINUED]
Zedar 11/23/2008 9:15:00 PM
This product appears to be discontinued. Unfortunately, the new version of this product is more costly and less effective, according to all of the reviews on the Avon.com site. Review for original product: This is one cheap and effective product that I only wish were more natural, but it is otherwise the best I have found at any price.
For my adult acne, I prefer the old version of Avon Clearskin Cleansing Scrub Exfoliant, which seems to have been discontinued. Economical and unnatural, St. Ives features small, spherical beads and fragrance instead of the sharp granules and menthol of Avon Clearskin. Like at least one other reviewer mentioned, St. Ives Elements' cap is too tight and requires teeth to open in the shower.
I like the idea of non-synthetic solid fragrance, but this particular fragrance doesn't do it for me. To me, it smells just like Bain de Soleil Orange Gelee, which I like - but I don't really want to smell like it very often.
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Blue Sage Naturals - Relief N Rescue
Zedar 6/21/2008 6:34:00 PM
I used this salve for awhile, but decided I liked plain sea buckthorn oil (also from Blue Sage Naturals) and electronic blue light treatments instead. (I also use anti-demodex sulphur ointment)
It is nice that Blue Sage Naturals doesn't add fragrance to this product, but the downside to that is that it smells like dirty socks! (Just like the sea buckthorn oil itself.)
I repurchased this tube at the behest of my 40 year old husband, who has never used a face cream before. He says, "It makes me feel really greasy for the first few hours, but when it soaks in, my skin look less old." He doesn't use it every day, but when he does, he uses much, much more than a pea size amount.
I agree, his fine lines look slightly diminished, at least temporarily.
Lipstick -Avon - PERFECT WEAR All-Day Comfort Lipstick SPF 12 - Vintage Pink
Zedar 6/14/2008 11:09:00 AM
This color would be better on someone else, but solely speaking for myself, it is too warm. If you are a "winter" with blue undertones like me, the Sunset Rose hue is more flattering.
This is my favorite metallic pink. It is hot pink/magenta. Love it! It would be HG if it had non-toxic ingredients.
MAC Fling is a better color (more subtle) for my thin dark blonde/ash brown brows, but this is much cheaper and so much better for blondes than drugstore "blonde" brow pencils and even Kevyn Aucoin (sp).
Too bad the automatic sharpening version of this color isn't as good on me.
